Title: Hi Everyone
Post by: Shadowjack on <07-21-11/2027:11>
I am a longtime Shadowrun fan. I started playing in 2nd edition although I didn't get to play through any campaigns because my group always had an immature approach to rp. My current group is very mature and ready to tackle Shadowrun in hopes of completing multiple campaigns. I just ordered all the corebooks and I am excited to play. I am considering making a character to play on the boards here but I would like to know what kind of pace I can expect. Are groups typically posting daily? Once, twice, many? I just want to see if it would be very slow paced like an rp board I tried in the past and quickly grew bored of due to inactivity.

I like the people here so far, everyone seems to be respectable so far and I haven't seen any trolling which is quite rare these days.

It really depends on the game. Road to Redmond, the one I'm involved in, can go a few days without a post, then three days of non-stop posting.

That was actually the only game I looked at here. It looks interesting from the little I read :)

My game, Messy Biz, is full at the moment but most of us post once daily minimum, same in Stars so Bright that I play in.

From what I've seen of the PbP games here, the GM will usually include in the all-call post what they expect the activity or post frequency to be. And generally they stick to that.

I'd say go for it as far as looking to see where there might be an open slot or a new game forming on here. If nothing else, it'd be great practice with the mechanics which you can take to your TT group.

And welcome to JackPoint.  8)

Thanks guys :) I do wonder though, wouldn't it take a long time to handle hacking? How would you avoid 1 hacking run from taking weeks to complete?

Welcome from an equally new person to these forums!  I hadn't considered getting involved in the pbp games..mostly because I haven't noticed them yet to go, "Oooooo....I can play SR long distance!?"

PbP can be great, so can skype/maptool games.

I'm hoping somebody starts up another PbP that I can get in on.  The one I'm in now is starting to get moving, but can you really ever have too many games to play (I try to stick to only running one or two games at a time).
