If you go here...
http://www.youtube.com/user/MacAttack001?feature=mhee (http://www.youtube.com/user/MacAttack001?feature=mhee)
then you can hear about what is going on with Shadowrun from the man himself. This is only part 1 though!
Just to let you know, I was so bold as to ask about Shadowrun 5th Edition... :D
-
Better than the last interview he gave. :P (The April Fools thing, in case you folks got the brain bleach out.).
-
Disclaimer: MacAttack001 had nothing to do with the April Fools video.
-
Oh hell. Here we go :)
-
What would have been cool would be to see a bunch of static at the end of the interview:
Connection Terminated
Matrix Error
... the Smiling Bandit
....Strikes again ha-ha-ha
-
Damn!!! Now that is a GOOD idea!
I am going to have to steal that idea! :D

By all means, consider it stolen :D

Thanks! I will use it for part 2.

It seems that Part 2 of the interview is loaded up here...

And rumor has it...there is talk of Shadowrun...5th Edition!!!
Feel free to post comments, click the like button, favorite if you really like it, subscribe if you want to be kept in the loop, and as always...play games and have fun! ;D

One thing we can know for certain from that 2nd part, there is an internal timeline for when a 5th edition will be released.
(Please time it for when I have some $ to spend).
-
*Sighs* There goes the budget again...
-
All I can tell you is that Jason has always been a straight shooter with me. I can say the same about my dealings with Randall Bills and Brent Evans.
If he says there is no internal timeline then I take the man at his word.
-
Yeah man, but you pussy-footed the important questions we all wanted to know about, like if the rumors of the the bisexual elf stripper ninjas in the office are true or not. :P
-
Dude...that is in Bull's interview...way to spoil that! >:(
-
When do we get Bull's interview?
-
Tuesday...if the WiMax Gods are willing. A goose farts in Canada and my internet goes out!
Monday...should be a Quick Tips video short.
-
Never dealt with Canadian Geese have you? Those buggers are *MEAN*!
I'm 6'1", was 225 lbs., in the baddest of bad moods, and it STILL wanted to pick a fight with me.
-
@CanRay: Well, I haven't gone on any dates with them...they do, with some regularity, fly over my house and shit all over my deck, patio table, chairs, fountain, pickup, cars, etc.. Does that count? ;D
-
Been bitten by a duck but never a goose. I survived the encounter in case you were wondering, only just barely though. Although sometimes on the full moon......
Seriously though a 5th edition is inevitable I think a messed up schedule and anniversary edition have thrown off our internal edition clocks. Also alot of new talent on board since 4th came out. I'm sure they'd like to put their stamp on game they now direct. Don't get me wrong I'm in no hurry to see it, but I get it.
More importantly why no torture for more info on upcoming 4thed projects? Lots of good looking stuff in the pipeline. Curious what order we might see some of it in.
And weres that Street Legends cover? 8)
-
As far as 5th Edition goes, I personally would be stunned if there was any movement on it in 2012. I was the guy that brought it up in the freelancer group which spawned some interesting (and heated) discussions. At some point I think that people will pool their money to see about hiring a hitman just to shut me up about it. ;)
I am planning on cornering a number of the other freelancers and getting interviews from them as to what they are currently working on and what projects they hope to get to work on at GenCon.
-
More Scramble stuff too at GC :) Will be lots more costumes.

Not unless they've done environmental damage to the point that the city made infamous for having caused half the acid rain in Ontario has to do something...
As for 5th, a possibility comes to mind that the large amount of PDF documents coming out from a variety of sources of various types just might be an attempt to getting a stable of artists of all sorts. Possible?
-
@CanRay: I think that the large amount of PDF's that have been produced by CGL is more a matter that PDF's are no longer "change found in the sofa cushions". It is a revenue stream that can fill in gaps between print runs and makes use out of a growing market. The resistence to PDF's is melting away, as manufacturers begin to view PDF's as their own medium taking advantage of features (i.e. video, audio, 3D objects support) sales are going to continue to grow.
Having a larger pool of talent to draw upon is not a bad thing IMO. The thing about a new edition though, is that all projects depend on the core rulebook. That one book becomes a bottle neck for all production and it takes considerable effort to get it done.
@Bull: I do plan on getting footage of the Scramble at GenCon. ;-)
-
OK, it was just a theory. Just like most of my comments on the forums that aren't direct answers to questions, they're usually weird, off the wall, and possibly coming from some deep, dark part of my brain that only the most adventurous attempt to tread.
Or they get lost, like me. Damn it's dark in here. :P
Well, good to know that there isn't a planned date for it yet, and hopefully 5th Edition won't drop into limbo like 4th did. :(
-
You play Shadowrun...of course you think that there is more to it than meets the eye! I like that. ;)
-
OK, Hasbro called, they want their Transformers slogan back.

I can vouch for at least one, personally. ;)

"And knowing is half the battle!" "What's the other half, Optimus Prime/Hawk?" "Violence. Violence is the solution once you know where to direct it."

Thanks to this interview the primary thing I am wondering about 5e is since they plan it to be more of an evolution than revolution in design, is how far can evolution go?
While I assume static TN and dice pool modifiers is staying, can there be changes in how a dice pool is created? I don't like how much weight stats have on the dice pool, agility giving equal or more dice to every one of your agility based actions is something I don't care for. Like would saying 1/2 your stat+skill be a revolution or evolution? Or heck just skill, with stats playing some other role.
Skill Caps, physical adept power costs, how magic and machine interact, overcasting, all seem evolutionary to me, but who knows if they are sacred cows and therefore revolutionary. I think 4e has a solid core, but needs a lot of work to make it shine.
I kind of expect 5e to be a bit of a ways off with the tool kit and hero labs stuff coming out, they just seem kind of odd to bring in at the end of an editions run. Similar things have been done before don't get me wrong, but I still think 2013 at the earliest. I would dig it for 5e to be released at the awakening, but I really doubt it.
-
Well, in the interview Jason talked about the Matrix rules and vehicle chases as a prime candidate for 'evolutionary' attention.
-
Considering the vast improvement on matrix rules done for 4th Edition, this bodes well if it's being contemplated.
Vehicle rules are always going to be difficult unless the game is designed for vehicles. Then pedestrian rules are difficult.
