An interesting proposed real-world arcology project in New Orleans. I shudder to think how much this would actually cost to build, but it looks really interesting.

Wow. That is a truly ambitious structure...
Good luck to them :)

It seems today is shadowrun-is-becoming-real day in the news. I just read an article about a man who had a new, biological windpipe grown in a lab from his stem cells, and successfully implanted.
Basicaly, real vat grown organs.

Wowza. Makes my mechanical heart valve look like last year's cyberwere.

Stem cell regrowth is getting a lot of very interesting (and OMG WTF!) results right now
Bring on the Vats, baby!

This thing is nuts, I hope it doesn't completely fail miserably like it seems to be heading toward. I love construction companies and their assumptions and lack of foresight... because new orleans isn't TOTALLY in the path of every hurricane in the next 10 years lol.

Errr, I lived in Darwin for a while...

That large spec of colour on the Mid-North, the bit you can't actually see under all the Cyclone* paths? Yeah, that was us.
Note: Hurricane/Cyclone/Typhoon (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Typhoons) is the same thing... but they have different names depending on which ocean they are on. Weird, but true!

Needs more red imo

Only a bit around the tip/corners . .
Look at the Tiberian Sun Video Parts, the Pyramids are more of a dark grey/blue with red accents . .

There's that old arcology in Arizona. I think it's still in the building stages, though I think it's been that way for 40 years.
Heh.
Found it.

Arcosanti is an neat project, but not really an acology in the sense that Shadowrun uses the word. Its a handful of eco-friendly building in the middle of nowhere in the desert. It is an arcology in the sense that it is an atempt to intergrate ecology and architecture, but the scale is really small.
Masdar City, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masdar_City is something closer that is actually being built, but it is still more of a massive centrally planned project rather than the "gynormous building" arcology that one usually sees in the game.

A corp should take Arcosanti and turn it into the classic Shadowrun corp. I just remember reading about Arcosanti back in the early 80s and wondered whatever happened to it. Wasn't there also a Japanese or Chinese development idea that would incorporate farming on part of a floating arcology to make it self-sustaining?
EDIT: Found it. X-Seed 4000. Japanese.

OCP should take it over.
