Guess you can call this a general looking for group. I've brought the Dumpshock IRC Server (http://irc.dumpshock.com/) back online and I'm trying to get the word out there to fellow gamers that have been looking for a server to game on. The webpage contains the information you need to connect to the server.
This server is not exclusively Dumpshocks server, all SR players are welcome.
Apologies to the admins if this is inappropriate for this particular forum. Just trying to get the word out there.

Hello everyone, just letting everyone know that I've brought the Dumpshock IRC Server (http://irc.dumpshock.com/) back online and I'm trying to get the word out there to fellow gamers that have been looking for a server to game on. The webpage contains the information you need to connect to it as well as a link to Mibbit WebIRC if you don't have a client of your own to use.
This server is not exclusively Dumpshocks server, all SR players are welcome.
Apologies to the admins if this is inappropriate for this particular forum. Just trying to get the word out there.

Welcome Jackal! And this is the perfect place for this post!
(BTW, fixed the link for ya and merged the one from General Discussion)

Thanks FJ, wasn't sure. Just trying to get the word out.

Just to let people know I opened the 7500 port back up so your old link will work again as well as port 6667

Is it invoking Threadmancy if I post on this thread? I very much think so.
Anyway, I just joined the forums and have been skimming through everything in order to get caught up on popular topics and I realized that there are a lot of players out there who are interested in getting an online game started. While I like the idea of using Skype to game, I am not a personal fan of Skype. Mainly because I have an extremely active child and in between posing or whatnot, I sometimes run around the house with her, which a lot of the times is likely to interfere with Skyping...
So next, I have a strong preference for online gaming. Text based online gaming. After playing with a few of my neighbors once (we were ages ranging from 5-12), I decided to eventually look up a MUD (a text based game) based around Shadowrun. What I found was Shadowrun Detroit, Shadowrun Seattle, and later Shadowrun Denver. At the time, I think they had just started getting into 3rd edition. Anyways, long story short, I became a much bigger fan of text based Shadowrunning than I did playing with my neighbors (yes, the 5 year old was actually pretty good for being 5).
Recently a favorite occasional haunt of mine went down and looks like it will never return: New Seattle: Shadows Evolved. It was (to my knowledge) the first and only 4th edition MUSH (note, not Murphy1's MUD, which I find is more difficult to get used to but is still fun!) out there. Now, lacking a home but having the time to get some text based gaming going, I am in search of anything as far as text based gaming is concerned. Sure, there is PbP, but it's so dang intimidating (I plan on jumping into one of them soon, actually).
As luck may have it (for me), I have stumbled across Jackal's Shadowrun mIRC server and noticed there are a few people on there! It isn't extremely populated (I'm seeing 15 people on the main channel), but it looks like it might be popular enough for me to push the idea that those of us who are looking for an online game might want to check it out. If you are intimidated by mIRC (I was my first time, for sure), PM me on here or maybe post a reply and we can maybe get something going.
I am extremely interested in being a part of a game that is run on this server. It could build popularity and might even cause others to come check it out.
Edit: Also, while looking on another forum, I noticed a few people were interested in using some sort of map system to help visualize some of their runs. I know what I am about to copy/past isn't exactly the most visually inspiring, but it definitely got the job done:
http://www.editgrid.com/user/seether/Copy_of_Plot_2 -- A D&D map I used during a campaign I once ran...
http://www.editgrid.com/user/green_elf/Corp_Espionage_1 -- A Shadowrun map that an old friend of mine used for a text based game he and I used to be on.
