Does anyone happen to know off of their head what Knight Errants colors are?
I have a police vehicle that want to paint up as KE.
-
I believe Knight-Errant officers wear black uniforms. I remember it once being compared how Lone Star dresses the part of what a average citizen expects a police officer to look like, while Knight Errant goes out of their way to look like "elite" corporate security.
-
The illustration in Seattle Sourcebook had Knight Errant in a green-gray (and ugly) uniform. But I also remember a black uniform later mentioned somewhere. Could not tell the book though.
-
Thanks for the assist. :)
Not sure about painting the vehicle black. The KE logo is a black KE on a diamond with white background and a gold border. So perhaps a white body with black and gold trim.
Something to ponder. ;)
-
Lone Star's colours were Black and Gold. I've had a few NPCs call them "Bumblebees" for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was how they'd "Bumble" investigations. :P
-
DOH!
Well that sucketh mightily!
-
I've never had my group deal with them, but I base (In my head) Knight Errant's outfits off of the SWAT team of my home town. (Never mind that I still have no idea why my home town HAS a SWAT team in the first place. EOD makes far more sense! I grew up in a mining town, BTW, that's why.).
Black with silver accents, very militaristic, but without any helmets, and very limited on external markings other than rank and name. It gives a strong sense of authority without being overpowering or frightening to the populous. Standard patrol has reflective silver accents for high visibility, while other departments have dull silver that doesn't reflect well due to their more clandestine nature.
Detectives, of course, are plainclothes. A five-year old can still tell they're cops, but they're in suits nonetheless.
Also, I have Hard Corps, Knight Errant's fellow Ares-owned Security Competitor, wearing similar black outfits, but with red accents, and a lot more insignia designating training and (Declassified) operations.
As I now know the location of the supply store for Emergency Services (Police, Fire Department, Ambulance), and have an item on order there (Tanker Boots!), I'll probably get more ideas for things from what they have in stock as they also supply security companies.
-
Canray, you just echoed what I always thought exactly, just substitute who has the silver and red.
Black, red accents, military cut, higher ranking officers might wear a beret, that sorta thing all day long.
-
The original Seattle Sourcebook, Page 157, has a color plate picture with a bunch of Security Forces represented.
Knight Errant is in black and grey/silver. The Logo is a simple red, stylized logo that mixes the K with the E.
It's very similar to this logo that I found on a Shadowrun WIki a while back:

OK, so probably grey uniforms with silver or gold highlights. Probably silver for patrolmen ("Enlisted" due to Ares using military nomenclature) and gold for detectives and higher ("Officers").
EDIT: Thanks for the logo, Bull!
-
Keep in mind that logo is unofficial. I have no idea who did it, but as far as I can tell, it's not from any of the published books. At least not English ones. (The site is only partly in English, and has a wikia.pl address, so is Polish, so may be from one of the licensed Shadowrun products).
That said, it's clearly based on the only Knight Errant logo to actually see print in an English book... Waaaaay back in the Seattle Sourcebook, as I noted. In SS, the KE logo is red, and centered over a gray diamond outline on the uniforms belt buckle.
I'm trying to see if I can dig up a scan of the images. I have the book, but not a scanner.
EDIT: WIth Season 4 in Seattle, Knight Errant shows up fairly regularly. At some point I want to see about getting an updated and official logo done, and probably see about updating their unirms and color schemes at the same time.

@Bull: That KE logo was the one that I had found online. I like the look of it and was planning on using it on the police vehicle I am working on. Since this vehicle has a SRT/SWAT look to it, black as the base color would certainly work. Swap the black KE of the symbol with silver. The gold border with red, and the white field of the diamond with grey. I will put together a mock up in photoshop and post the results to see what people think a bit later today.
-
Thanks for that logo Bull. I saved it to my "When things go wrong" file.
-
Thanks to Crimsondude, I got the color plate "Seattle's Finest" scanned. I cropped it down a bit, but you can see the colors for KE (and the other security forces).
For reference, it's Aztechnology in the upper left and on the ground in the tan and orange, Renraku in black with the red sash/cape, Mitsuhama is the female in the light blue and silver, KE is the Black and SIlver guy who's pointing, Lone Star is the troll in the blue & gold (of course), and Fuchi (R.I.P.) is the guy kneeling.

Also, in the always fun game of "Spot the Queensryche Reference" from the 1st and 2nd ed days... We have Eyes of a Stranger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4duZjxusGM) as Grafitti. :)
-
Oh frag, the '80s... What were we thinking?
WHAT WERE WE ON???
-
I love that fashion style. I miss it. :)
Bull
-
Yeah, certainly beats what's out there today.
Don't even get me started on cars. I'm with Marv, "They all look like electric shavers." or some such.
Well, at least we know how they were dressed in 2050, but fashions change. Even security forces.
-
Do the shoulderpads at least have cutting edges or something? I mean, THERE MUST BE A REASON :-\
-
Yeah. One thing I keep pushing Brent and the art guys for is to try and find a "unique" style, regardless of what it is. Too often, we get "bog standard futuristic", which annoys me. Say what you will about teh SR1 art, but it had some major style and flair.
-

I wanted to put Armored Shoulderpads as a fashion accessory into Attitude... Like Helmets, they add a +1/+1 to armor rating, but give you a 1 point to your Street Cred (Positive if you're dealing with old school runners and fixers, Negative if you're dealing with the younger crowd ;)

Haha, I like it.

I finally found where Knight Errant is described as having black uniforms. New Seattle (Best. Sourcebook. Ever.) describes Knight Errant as "sleek and stylish in their black uniforms". That quote and the picture that has defined how I visualize K.E. troopers are both on page 77.
-
Funny thing about the shoulder pads phenom...it was relegated to television and the movies. Looking through my high school year books, it wasn't this all incompassing fashion trend.
As for the fashion sported by today's youngsters...I really enjoy it. There is something infinitely amusing seeing some gangsta running from the police holding up his baggy pants. Then you have the 'I'm too lazy to get dressed so I am wearing my PJ's in public' which speaks volumes to me. My personal favorite though has to be the 'Tramp Stamp tattoo', a billboard advertivesment as to the young lady's intentions. ::)
Thanks Bull for the scan, most of my older SR books are still packed up.
Thanks DesVoeux for the reference in New Seattle.

Back on topic...
I have decide to do a black and red scheme on the vehicle.
Still working on the KE logo...red KE with two variants of borders. For some reason the KE logo reminds me of Heckler & Koch's logo. Anyone remember has Ares bought up H&K?
-
John: when you get the color scheme and any designs, let me know. I'd like to see about getting a uniform design and maybe a "Style SHeet" put together for my Missions artists, so if they need to drawn Knight Errant, they can :)
As for HK... I can;t find anything solid. They're still around, obviously, but no word on who owns them, far as I can see.
-
They might still own themselves after all. Ford has remained independent after all.
But, considering the state of Germany, I'd be betting H&K is a S-K subsidiary by now.
-
Thanks for your help Bull and to everyone else as well. I will post up a pic as soon as I get it done. :D
@CanRay, S-K would be the logical choice for acquiring H&K.
-
So, with no official statement, H&K could still own themselves... They could be an open S-K subsidiary... Or they could be a secretly-purchased and owned Mega Subsidiary. Ares is the most likely choice, but it could honestly be anyone.
Actually, considering their work in the media, Horizon would likely have a major interest in H&K, considering how popular their weapons are in movies...
-
According the old FanPro Corporate Index, H&K were not a subsidiary and the last time that they were mentioned was in the Canon Companion. I have to say that I am pretty surprised though...I would have thought that S-K would have acquired them a long time ago.
-
Politics might come into play here. By NOT owning every firearms industry in Germany, S-K can show that the Governments that make up the area are not TOTALLY puppets to the Dragon...
Also, it allows for another competitor which can be good for business. Gives the designers someone to work against for the title of "Best German Engineered Firearm"-type thing, encouraging ingenuity and ideas at little-to-no cost.
-
In addition to H&K there is Korth, Walther, and Mauser. Any other firearm manufacturers based in Germany that I am missing?

Perhaps the German arms manufacturers banded together like General Motors in order to give them some backbone while still maintaining their product identities.
-
Well, the paint job on the vehicle is nearly completion. However, I need your assistance!
One of the decals I need is the motto...i.e. 'To Protect and Serve'...for KE.
Any suggestions?
-
"To grift and profit."
"To abuse and frame."
"To protect and serve.....the rich."
"Fuck you, poor people."
"Money!"
-
You know, I wish that I had led a life up to this point where I did not deserve that...yet we all know that isn't the case. ;)
However, if we could have something of a wee bit more serious I would be in your debt. :)
-
Sorry, man. Couldn't help myself.
How about something like "Order and peace"?
-
Not a problemo. I liked them and something that I may have tagged on the side of the police precinct building as well!
Not bad.
I ran across one on the web though that I liked too.
From the New South Wales Police Department: Culpam Poena Premit Comes / Punishment Follows Close on Guilt
-
"Security Above All Else", "Your Safety Is Our Goal", "Peace Through Defense", "Si vis pacem, para bellum"?
-
1. Serve the public trust.
2. Protect the innocent
3. Uphold the law.
4. Classified.
Couldn't help myself.
How about "Apprehend and Defend."
-Edit- I should point out that my use of Apprehend is a play on words:
1) To take into custody
2) anticipate with dread or anxiety
-
@ CanRay: Peace Through Defense...I like that one!
@ Tagz: I like the irony of 'Protect the Innocent'...given SINs and the Sixth World in general. The play on words didn't escape my notice either! LOL
-
Actually, "Peace Through Defense" and "Si vis pacem, para bellum" are very close, and might have one above the other.
"Si vis pacem, para bellum" means "If you wish peace, prepare for war", roughly. "Peace Through Defense" might be another translation.
-
I like the edge of the "If you wish peace, prepare for war". Knight Errant doesn't strike as a bunch of touchy feely softies. Tough choices...

Do it in Latin, and it comes out as educated AND edgy!
Also, as they're a Para-Military group as well as a Security Service, it makes sense for them to have a motto like that.
-
Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum viditur. ;D
-
@ CanRay: Good point and it is smaller in character count too! 8)
# Tagz: Isn't that always the case! ;)
-
Here is an in progress photo, still plenty of work left to do. It is assembled and the base coat put on, still need decals, the lightbar and engine compartment painted, finally weathering/paint chipping to be done. Yeah...but other than that...well on its way. LOL
(http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx176/MacAttack001/SRForums002.jpg)
Oh, and I still need to pin the right side mud flap to the bumper...you can see the holes drilled for them. I should note that the lightbar and mud flap bumper extenders were scratch built. I also scratch built to pieces to jack up the suspension. Once I am done I will post up the link for my YouTube video on this model.
-
Don't forget the chrome naked elf women on the mudflaps!
-
Ok. Hey John? I want you to build me one of these in 1:18 scale. That would make a great COBRA vehicle for my Joe Collection ;)
Bull
-
Soooo...what is with the fascination of naked elf women?
Seems like a thread doesn't go by and somebody is bringing up naked elf women. Is this a new fetish?
Actually...I stopped and Googled 'naked elf women' and OMG...it is like this bizarre world with all manner of naked elf porn!!!
Fess up...you belong to the website elvenlust!
-
Can I take that as a non-endorsement of the color scheme for Knight Errant? :D
-
Soooo...what is with the fascination of naked elf women?
It's the typical love of Lesbian Elf Stripper Ninjas. :P
I was actually amazed when one of my players actually made one.
It ended badly.

John, you know we don't talk about the "entertainers" from the Champagne Room around those without a key... :P
-
When I did that Google search I have to tell you I was pretty stunned that there are sites dedicated to nake elf women.
For the record...even if I could...I will not be adding the chrome naked elf chick to the mud flaps, not because I am a prude but simply as it is not SOP for KE. ;)
Back on topic, does anyone like the color scheme?
-
Oh, definitely. But then, Red and Black are my own personal color scheme anyway (See the smiling ork logo :)).
Also why I want that vehicle in 1:18 scale is partly for the color scheme as well. THere's more to it than this, but the basics are that Cobra Vehicles/Troopers in Crimson Guard colors are one of my major collecting areas. Or were, when I was actively collecting GI Joe stuff.
Bull
-
@ Bull Cool. I will have to think about the upscaled version.
