Title: Home Exercise Skillwires
Post by: Rockopolis on <04-24-11/1803:42>
Anyone wonder if there'd ever be a market for that kind of thing in the Shadowrun future?  Run the exercise routine while you do something else over your comlink.

...alternatively, a less invasive mechanism would be to use your comlink while working out, but that takes concentration.

Actually, I can see a personafix program/CalHot being the rage.  Plug it in, and you LOOOVE to work out!  Program it for however long you want your meat body to get in shape, turn it on, then unload it when done.

Electrical stimulation of the muscles to exercise them while you're jacked into your dataterminal for your 14-hour workday at the Data Mines.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about.  I had a variation of it used on me for some therapy after I did some damage to my back and shoulder.

I have a TENS unit. I got a dog not too long after I got one, we got the dog from an animal shelter. He was a wild Leonberger mix that was found out in the desert, not domesticated by any stretch of the imagination. I had been working to domesticate him, but it was a slow process. So, I had my TENS unit on one day after some rigorous physical therapy and my dog came up and ripped it off of me and proceeded to eat the wiring harness while it was hot. It was the funniest thing to watch. I stopped him pretty quick, but I'll always have that image stuck in my head. Fast forward a couple of years and my dog is finally domesticated.

Dietware and Lipo are already on the table, I imagine people go for the options that make them look good without having to sweat more often then not.

A Muscle Stimulator while you're Simming through ASIST would be just as effective, and a lot cheaper.

Massaging Liners in clothing to prevent stiffness for long Decking/Hacking 'Runs would be a good suggestion as well.

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body!"  "Permission to be weak, Sir."  "DENIED!"

I always thought that line was dumb.

I guess a bullet wound really chases the weakness out.

Go ahead, explain that to a Jarhead.  :P

Make sure you have a friend recording it, so we can all see the response.  ;)

I'm not scared of Marines.

Assuming I'm up in my AC-130.

They do have a good joke though, about how 'yeah, we're department of the navy, the men's department'.

Ah, well, that's different.  Everyone loves the folks that give CAS!

Canray, go get a camera.

Quote from: Gen Jack Pershing
The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle.
How much you wanna bet I can figure out a way to bring your silly plane out of the sky so you can say that to my face? :P

Never served, but something I remember from Martial Arts:  "Never say anything about someone that you wouldn't say to their face.  Because you never know when it will get to their face, and they'll get in your face."

Not exactly Confucius, but accurate nonetheless.

Back to the topic. I figure there are probably workout sim/trids/softs out there, but honestly If you don't have the discipline to workout on your own you'll be screwed when you eat your self out of being able to afford the stuff. Besides, as a shadow runner you should have all the motivation you need to be in good shape. You can't out run being in a prison, or being dead, but you can out run the people that will put you there/make you that way if they catch you. 8)

I heard about a bunch of teenaged athletes back home that were up to some mischievous acts when seen by a pair of foot patrol officers.

Needless to say, they outran the police handily, chanting, "Piggies can't ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun, Piggies can't ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!"

The joys of living in Canada.

To be (un)fair however, the people in question were not members of a visible minority.  (Although, that was a generation later.  And ended up with the police in question emptying all their loaded ammo at a parked car and not hitting it once.  From about ten metres.  The occupant of said vehicle was unarmed and insists he did nothing that warranted such an act against him.  As the police in question had to reload and continue shooting, my personal opinion on the situation favors his end of the story.).
