Title: Fun with Glitching
Post by: savaze on <04-11-11/1839:24>
I'm starting this thread for everyone to reminisce and laugh at the crazy situations that develop out of glitching!

I think one of my favorite critical glitches was when one of my players, in a prior edition, always played the troll sammie. He had one character that never reloaded in combat and so he literally was covered in weapons and would drop the empty weapons to their slings or what not. At the time the group was hired on to bodyguard a mage. They were running interference against some assassins. When they were jumped, the troll sammie grabbed his modified Enfield AS-7 and opened up with a full-auto burst. I don't remember how many dice he rolled (he had a lot), but I remember him rolling all ones... The cussing ensued for a good five minutes and it was hilarious!

So it played out that all the uncompensated recoil ripped the weapon out of his hand, breaking his trigger finger. Then the free-flying shottie hit the 'protected' mage behind him in the face and knocked her out. The scattergun proceeded to cook-off the rest of it's 50 round drum. Everyone, including the assassins, took cover and a few people on each side got hit by this new opponent. Combat started again a few rounds later with everyone a little shook up and surprised. Afterwards, the runners Face ended up having to make up this wild story to cover the shotgun incident so it wouldn't damage them getting paid.

Fun times!

I just finished my group's first mission last week, and they probably spent three-quarters of their Edge avoiding glitches. Spoil-sports.

Ouch! How'd that play out?

Glitches infuse humor.  Have a player who idolizes (weakness) pop stars.  He spots his idol at a nightclub, clears it with her bodyguard and contacts to meet her, walks towards her calls her name, glitches his body check bc he had been drinking and another player slipped him a mickey for some much deserved revenge.  Five feet in front of her falls flat on his face out cold.

Same folks - later PC does meet his idol and hangs out with her and her very over-protective troll bodyguard who protects her innocence as well bc she's underage.  PC hugs her and botches a random etiquette check so there is a wardrobe malfunction: PC's hand on underage female NPC's bare bottom + one angry cyber troll = Loads of GM FUN

heh, something like that just happened in our last session: our face saw suri cruise, wasted as they come,  coming out from a nightclub with four streetsam bodyguards. face declared he wants to get suris autograph, so he rolled influence and glitched, with no edge available. so I decided he took off his shirt and shouted ´sign my chest, bitch´...the streetsams took out stunbatons, and zapped the poor face a couple of times. not lethal, but funny anyway...

I remember being in some Church/sacred Retreat. Rigger being bored looks around and spots a bat. Fails Composure Check, ofc, unpacks his Ruger and puts two bullets in the roof. Needless to say, he actually hit that beast despite mods for visibility, small, moving, etc target :D

Ouch! How'd that play out?

I didn't survive the impact and was taunted mercilessly.

I remember one session I put a 3-IP, black belt, kung-fu master dude from hell against the players' street sam. The Combat Mage had -3 dice due to damage, but facing this oponent, decides to Improve the street sam's Reflexes, to make him with an even 3-IP turn.

Halfway through combat, with no side dealing damage to the other yet (all parries and blocks and dodges with some minor damage-dealing hits that got soaked), I decide the 3-IP, black belt, kung-fu master dude from hell is going to interrupt the street sam's attack with a sweet arc'd elbow thrust on the street sam's chin.

3-IP, black belt, kung-fu master dude from hell's 17 dice + 4 edge vs. street sam's 14 dice to dodge. And I rolled 10 1s and no hits.

My sweetly-planned oponent just went straight past the street sam and lodged his elbow on the industrial-sized fan behind him, for a total of 20P damage.

Like I was gonna give 'em the satisfaction of killing him, oh no.

Player: I roll my negotiation and... four successes and a glitch.

Me: The Johnson agrees to your terms.

Player: And...

Me: You piss yourself.

There was also the time my mage's mentor spirit turned him into a naga for the duration of the adventure. He was forced to buy a new fedora and was dubbed the "noir naga".

My previous group of runners had been kidnapped working a job by unknowns.  They managed to spirit out in the night after a chancy escape and still managed to get back before dawn for payback breakfast special.  The combat mage had hit his wall.  He had spent all Edge getting out and had glitched his last body check.  They got him up with stims and then they filled up on Kamakazie from the street doc, against his medical advice, to make the trip back before they opposition could get away.  After much carnage they got a borrowed van to a cheap motel and they all began crashing.  He rolled his second body check and crit glitched.  I ruled massive heart attack and he died in the van with them, they didn't even get inside the motel room after pulling around to the back.

So there I was knee deep in grenade pins and hot brass .......oh wait ..... so me and my homies are trying to extract some info from this sniper dude who we lured into a meet ( after we tracked him down because he was shooting at us) and we are talking when things go south .. so my street sam straight out of the book pregen mind you takes a swing with my shock hand ..... all i remember hearing is WOW that's a lot of fours
I'm all that didn't happen so I spend an edge and re roll and get pretty much the same roll .. so apparently it did happen. The sniper who is a mage by the way evil GM stun blasts the room and I crit glitch the soak roll and am out cold with physical damage to boot!!!!!

you all know the difference between a war story and a fairy tail ???

Fairy tails have some truth in them!!!  :P

I was a bioware face. Our group was trying to mediate between the Shigedia and the Shotozumi. My character had 13 dice in his pool for persuading the Shotozumi. He critical glitched. We had to dodge bullets all the way to the Barrens were we hid out for a while. The Seattle 2072 book came out a month later. Shigedia was destroyed. Sorry guys.
