Title: Other Qualities that give Notoriety
Post by: Kerebrus on <01-25-11/1752:19>
Looking in the section on Reputation nd Notoriety in the SR4a, all the qualities that they classify as notorious and counter-notorious are from the main book, I was sure that I saw a listing of the other qualities from other books that did the same, but now I cannot find it.  Anyone have that at their fingertips, or tell me that I am crazy and make them up myself.

I know there are some additional Notoriety rules in WAR! and Corporate Guide for the alternative Campaigns.
But the new Qualities from RC weren't mentioned. Only alternative situations in with the PC could get extra Notoriety.

From Runner's Companion:
Having an Enemy (as from the Enemy negative quality) garners a point of Notoriety (3rd paragraph, page 132, Runner's Companion).
Bad Rep is 3 Notoriety
Big Regret, 1 point

I think that's it.

Would each instance of an enemy (I.E. multiple enemies) give Notoriety points?

From my reading of the section on enemies, each enemy is worth 1 point of notoriety, so I would presume 2 enemies, 2 notoriety, etc.

That would make the most sense to me, as well.  My only confusion comes from an enemy group.  One would think that hacking off, say, an entire Chinese Triad would net more Notoriety than just angering one member of the Triad.

I agree. But, thankfully, for that we have GM's who can say "yeah, you get 5 notoriety for that".

I think an argument can be made that things like Augmentation Addict, Media Junkie and so on should attract Notoriety (because they're variations of the Addication quality).  I also think things like Signature, Cyberpsychosis and so on should attract Notoriety at chargen because of their impact.

Cyberpsychosis especially.

Code of Conduct gives in some cases Notoriety

Additional Notoriety effecting Qualities (in my opinion):

minus
Digital Doppelganger
Erased (each level)
Escaped Clone (here the is a special case, the Notoriety of the original should be yours, too)
Fame (each level) A famous person can't be a bad person, that is all show for the audience.
Made Man (opposite effect of Enemy)
Mistaken Identity (it's like Escaped Clone)
Obscure
Privileged Family Name
Trustworthy

plus
Cursed
Data Shadow
Emotion Leak
Evil Twin (for sure negative effect of Escaped Clone)
Focus Addiction (like any addiction)
Hung Out to Dry (see description)
In Debt
Liar (see description)
Multiple Personality Disorder (a great effect is to give each personality an own Notoriety stat)
Paranoia
Poor Self Control (all)
Prejudiced (at higher levels)
Vendetta
Wanted
Will to Die

"Pacifist" is a negative Quality but has an positive effect on Notoriety in cases of intimidation, so if the victim knows the intimidator is a pacifist, he will be harder to intimidate. The same happens to "Combat Paralysis".
