Well with Hard Targets aparantly havinf hit the streets and us now on the countdown to Missions Legal statis just going to shoutout a question that perhaps the most of us want to know.
Will the Electronic Firing modification remain a Barrel Slot, and thus incompatible with Gas Venting or Silencers, or will it be changed to be compatible?
Just to clarify before anyone jumps down my throat: I'm not actually expecting an answer before FAQ update goes live, just hilighting it so that it will hopefully be given a specific yay/nay answer.
-
I second this question, and would like to add if this shouldn't be an internal modification instead of a barrel mod.
-
Until there's an answer, use it with weapons that come with integral barrel mods.
-
I Third this question, and agree that this should be an internal modification instead of a barrel mod.
-
The problem with Internal slot is it then clashes with Smartgun conversion.
-
Thats not that much of an issue, since Smartguns can be put on every outside-slot.
Electronic Firing on the other hand is (if you use it absolutely RAW) totaly useless.
And yeah, seconding the question and requesting it to be moved to the "internal" slot.
-
Electronic Firing on the other hand is (if you use it absolutely RAW) totaly useless.
How so?
-
Its a strictly worse option than GasVent (only one level instead of three, super expensive) and since it takes up the Barrelslot, can't be (by strict RAW) combined with silencers.
So, it has the same restrictions as Vents, costs more, gives less and has no compatibility benefits over the other mod.
-
Integral accessories (those that come with the weapon) don’t take up mount locations.
Here's RAW.
-
Which is why you can have an Ares Alpha with an Underbarrel Chainsaw and a top-mounted Crossbow.
FOR ALL PURPOSES, choose ARES.
-
uses both the barrel and underbarrel mod slot
That's not going to fly. It's also going to depend on your understanding of integral - default mods that are detachable (or external to the weapon) may not be considered such at a given table.
-
I swear one of the underbarrel things said it could use the side slot instead, but I can't find it now.

Okay, so its usefull in the rare instance where you have a gun that comes with an integrated Silencer.
Thats still an extremly narrow case-of-use and a super retarded ruling, since it a) implies a difference in workings between stock and aftermarket silencers that is enough to warrant a hardware incompatibility and b) implies that a change to the firing mechanism makes you unable to screw something on the other side of the barrel, be it a Compensator, Silencer or Grip.
Absolutely no logic behind that and dubious, even from a point-of-view that solemly uses game mechanis.
-
House rule it, use it, or hold your breath. ;)
-
Na, I'd rather make a bit more noise. SR authors aren't totally opposed to fixing broken stuff if pointed towards it and this thing is pretty much broken in my opinion.
-
Given errata is flying into digital release like it's 1699, that sounds like the latter.
-
I'm German, i actually get errata in Print :P
-
I'm not particularly impressed by what ze Germans have done with cyberlimbs, either. ::)
Not that I think there's a good answer, but shunting cybertorsos into irrelevance imo doesn't improve the situation.
-
Its absolutely not irrelevant, since it houses an additonal up to 3 Armor and has space for many many more Mods.
Making the torso a non-requirement however allows for building Cyberwarrios with 4 limbs that don't end up at almost zero Essence and can actually stack some INI enhancements to make them usefull.
