Title: PBP
Post by: gradivus on <12-17-15/0000:08>
Second try at this since it seems trying to find enough players to use just life modules isn't working out.

Will be running the mission season 4 story arc using 5th edition.
Use Sum To Ten, Karma, or Life Modules: whatever you prefer.
The only thing I'm definitely not allowing is Infected.

Either 4-5 players at normal level or if only three players are interested then Sum To Ten w/ Prime Runner rules.

Attribute Boost: the second paragraph will for this campaign be changed to: Note that increasing an Attribute may affect other derived statistics with the exception of Initiative and limits.
This is to give Boost STR and the Dynamic Tension Bow the loving they deserve.

The definition of Shift and Vanish are in Aetherology: looking at you Mr. Shifter and Ms. Pixie.
To make it short, as far as shifter's go, only delta grade implants.

And I will allow you to take Cyber Snob which opens up Betaware in chargen- however 12 availability is still the limit without Restricted Gear and of course you must buy at least 1 essence worth to qualify for the quality. (Hope that helps you Transhumans trying to fit as much possible into 1 Essence,)

That kind of cuts the legs out from under "brainwashed shifter, forcibly reacquainted with their animal side after discovering augmentation".

Still expressing interest, but I'll have to see. I whole heartedly suggest sticking with the pixie weakness vanish, rather than the fey power vanish, though.

I'm interested if there is a spot open for me.

Message me your character.

I prefer it messaged so as to not clog up this thread.

That goes for anyone else interested. Message me your character.

Most likely I'll have you post your finalized character in the OOC thread which I'm not putting up until I have at least 3 commitments...

This is not the CCZ but remember places can have BC counts like in the Barrens or ACHE.
If you live in Pullyup or the Redmond Barrens you can take Home Ground: Astral Assimilation for the area you live in.

In case your wondering, the avg weather in Seattle.

Is there a Vanish Power definition other than Aetherology in 5e?

BTW your character works just as well as an actual pixie.  Just no shifting.

Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately.

Arms, speech, mana-based flight, and rp differences aside, it's roughly the same. I was sure shifting to (meta)human was still mana-based and unavailable after burnout in 5e (as in 4e), but they seem to have missed putting it in writing. Or I missed reading it.

Vanish is a weakness of pixies, instead of reaching physical overflow they disappear without a trace. (and you cannot stabilize them.) I think the same is also true for stun damage - this is why operating on little pixies has to be done while they are completely aware of their surrounding and why pixies suffer greatly from this kind of research.

As presented in Aetherology 5e
VANISHING
Type: M Action: Free
Range: Self Duration: Special
Creatures with the Vanishing power have the ability to
disappear entirely from the physical and astral planes at
will, leaving no trace of their existence. While the disappearance
can be captured on film, video or trideo cameras
with ease, there is no way known to stop or prevent it as
neither physical nor magical barriers can stop a creature
from vanishing. Though no one knows where creatures
with the Vanishing power go when they disappear, paranaturalists
and occultists speculate that they go to the
metaplanes of astral space to which the fey are native to.
They may also reappear with a Complex Action; although
they may choose to materialize directly without going
through astral space, although they may also choose to
appear there if they want to.
As presented in Runners Companion 4e
Vanish
When a critter would die from any cause, be it
old age or the detonation of a nuclear weapon, it
vanishes from this world, leaving no trace. This
disappearance can be captured on film, video, or
trideo cameras with ease, but there is no way known
to stop or prevent it—even the critter itself seems
powerless to remain. Researchers debate exactly
where the critters go; many suggest they transition
to some metaplane where they cannot die. Naturally,
no resuscitation, autopsy, or cybermantic procedure
is viable on the critter without a body to work with.
Big difference.... the runner's companion is more balanced but the aethorology is the official 5e.
Probably should pretend it doesn't exist and go with 4e's version.

Xmas and New Years is busy for most people so I am not really expecting to get 4-5 people to complete and submit characters and backstories before Jan 2. I would be pleasantly surprised if I was wrong and the group was formed before then but I am not holding my breath.

As of this post I haven't received any actual character builds to check over.

I'm interested in playing if you still have a spot.  I'm thinking rigger and life modules, maybe troll?  I like trolls.  I just have to read up on both of those.

On the Pink mohawk to black trench coat, where do you see the game falling?

I am more of a black trench coat kind when I'm playing.
But, it's my opinion that the GM should go along with the players and not the other way around.
So the group's first adventure and the way they handle things will decide the tone going on.

I'm game to play if there's still room. I only own the 5th edition core rulebook, so I won't be able to do Life Modules (which book is that in, anyway?)

Please let me know if I should PM you a character and when you want it.

Seems like a lot of folks want to do a rigger, I could do something else.

Also, life modules is definitely a different beast. It helps make a background but having issues trying to optimize.  Could just be me since I have issues with optimizing even normally.

I cover decker/rigger and i have no space for upping charisma and social skills. If you are an elf with max charisma should be ok to get 12-14 as dice pool (ie Cha 8 con 4 or Cha 6 Con 6). I ask that to you because shaman already has high charisma to start with. If it's too difficult for you character concept, we go with no face and face the consequences (pun intended).

Title: Re: PBP

Two I believe. One decker/rigger combo (Haywire) and one dedicated decker who has some combat skill (me).

I'm the type of player who thinks everyone should bring the character they most want to play and not worry so much about having all the roles filled. That being said, I can make some adjustments to my (Ork) shaman to try and make up for the lack of a face somewhat but he wouldn't fully fill that role well if I stay within my concept.
Title: Re: PBP
Post by: Stoneglobe on <12-23-15/0802:52>
I agree. Play the character you want to play and if it means we don't have much in the way of Face skills then we have to deal with it. Buttonholing people to archetypes is the quickest way to see people drop out of a game.

Well, turns out I wasn't able to add too much in the way of Face skills without spreading myself way too thin on everything else. In the end, I kept Etiquette (street) at 8(10) but no others. I did however pick up spells like Analyze Truth, Increase Charisma and Physical Mask to hopefully help in that area.

Finally got everything sorted. Had to deal with a fairly major crash on one of my laptops. Unfortunately it was the one I use for shadowrun so I lost all the work I'd done on my character. Got him rebuilt and submitted.

In terms of knowing people he's very new to Seattle but would have needed the help of a smuggler to get him and his gear there so there's some opportunity for that to put him in contact with one of the characters.
