I may be suffering from hysterical blindness or some kind of cranial bleed, but for the life of me I can't locate the current updated mission FAQ. Can someone link before I go get a CAT scan?
Thanks

Never mind. Cranial Bleed under control and I found it.
-
Yeah the name and version change has probably thrown a few people for a loop.
-
going to hijack this thread since halflingmage's cranial bleed is under control...
Question 1:
with the new rule that fixers can procure gear with a 10% upcharge "middleman" fee, i believe the intention is that this is supposed to be cumulative with availability markup correct? that is not expressly stated and my group has been asking questions about that.
Remember, a fixer is a middle man and
not in sales, so there will be a slight mark up of 10% to the base cost of any item which the fixer helps
you acquire.
Question 2:
Upgrading focus, i see there is an availability test there now (YAY!) im assuming that this test MUST be tied to the talismonger that originally made the focus (as per upgrading rules) and the 20% markup is again cumulative with availability markup correct? (if applicable) What if a magic user bought the Foci at chargen and doesnt have a Talismonger? can the fixer from above get the foci to a 'monger to be upgraded (with appropriate markups)?
Gathering the materials to increase the Force of a focus is not an easy task, therefore an
Availability test must be made against the desired Force of focus to be improved. Once the materials
have been acquired, it takes a number of days equal to the new Force for a talismonger to complete, and it
will cost the difference in nuyen between the old and new focus, plus 20% for the talismonger’s time and
materials. You will also have to pay the karma difference between the old and new focus.
Question 3:
I notice there is no mention of Availabilty tests mentioned for Cyberwear upgrading, is this intentional considering the costs of upgrading cyber? or is the test considered "waived" because the fact that the doc gets to keep the gear and does not give the 30% nuyen cost back to the player and the doc can therefore resell the gear as used?
changing out cyberware.
You may upgrade bioware and cyberware by paying the difference between the two pieces of
equipment (taking into account grades, if any) plus 20% for the doc’s time and medical materials. You
may only upgrade a piece of bioware or cyberware of the same type.
For example, Kayless wants to get a better Control Rig. He currently has a Rating 2, but wants to
upgrade to 3. Martin Tate happens to have one in stock and charges him 133,200¥ for the new Control
Rig (Rating 3) and keeps the Rating 2 he just pulled out of Kayless.
So, let’s do the math: Control Rig 3 costs 208,000¥ - 97,000¥ as credit on the old rig (Rating 2) =
111,000¥ for the upgrade. Now to figure out the total to include Dr. Tate’s labor and any other expenses
related to the surgery (111,000¥ x 1.2 = 133,200¥).
Another example, Covon goes to Dr. Tate and asks to have his dermal plating removed so he can
get titanium bone lacing instead. Dr. Tate gladly obliges, but Covon only receives 30% of the value of
the dermal plating and has to pay full price for the titanium bone lacing.
Question 4:
what brought about the change in Total Karma Earned (TKE) rules? also what brought about the change in downtime rules (no more 4 week limit between missions)?
Question 5:
The lifestyle changes are slightly nice (yay no more Street lifestyle people sitting on 300k nuyen!) but the wording came across as a little confusing to me. i get that its supposed to imply that if you keep up on rent you can have as much downtime between missions as you want, but it reads slightly like as long as your "alive" and pay "eventually" (even if it includes back-rent) you can have as much downtime between missions as you want, regardless as to if you pay your lifestyle or not. i think the inclusion of the words "on-time Lifestyle" or " on-time Rent" at the end of the first paragraph before the word "payments" would suffice to clear up any (if any) misunderstandings. However i could see this as an interesting way to enter into the "in Debt" Quality even-tho its not allowed for missions...
With the changes taking place in Chicago, finding somewhere to sleep for free has become
problematic. Warlords, gangs, “landlords”, and the corps ensure a price must be paid to sleep safely.
Therefore, the minimum lifestyle a character must take in Chicago is a Squatter lifestyle. The other side
to this, is that a character may now spend as much time between Missions as he/she desires, so long as
he/she keeps up with the payments!

Also want to point out some places where the year 2016 is used when 2015 is intended:
Pg 3 for Chrome Flesh legal date
Pg 8 for effective date of publication

Correct, the 10% is on top of any increases based on Availability.

Correct, cumulative. I will discuss the foci at chargen question with the FAQ committee.

We assumed everyone would know you still have to make an Availability test to purchase a new piece of cyberware.
Question 4:
what brought about the change in Total Karma Earned (TKE) rules? also what brought about the change in downtime rules (no more 4 week limit between missions)?
Any karma used to improve a character, whether directly (through Working for the People) or indirectly (through Working for the Man) needs to be taken into consideration for TKE. It makes your character more powerful either way you look at it. Why have a limit of four weeks was our question?

I'm not sure how this is confusing. The minimum lifestyle a character must take in Chicago is a Squatter lifestyle. There is no going in debt or anything intended. If you can't afford to pay for a lifestyle to spend as much time as you want during downtime, that means you have to take a run and can't take as much time off. We'll make it more clear with the next release.

Thank you, I've updated the dates...I must be ready for 2016 to get here.

You're just that excited for the Rigger Blackbook/6th ed to come out. :P

ROFL!
Could be all those rumors and the fact I've been working on 2016 convention stuff for a while now.

On the topic of lifestyles, does Mission follow the lifestyle fatigue damage rules under Comforts & Necessities (RF 218-219)? I know lifestyle options are fine which implies the whole ruleset is also used. That means for example, someone taking basic Squatter lifestyle must resist 4S fatigue damage at the start of the every mission.

Run Faster is coming up for review, so I will have to hold off comment until we've had a chance to look at it more in depth.

Is Loyalty still capped at 4?

Is Loyalty still capped at 4?
Yes, we have not had a discussion about changing max Loyalty ratings.

Thanks for providing detailed and prompt feedback, I really appreciate it.
Two questions regarding Street Cred:
1) Is Street Cred only calculated by whatever bonus you get from your game log sheet? That is, does the formula from page 368 (Karma/10) apply in any way?
2) What does Street Cred do for you (aside from buying off Notoriety)? Does it still add a dice pool bonus (capped at Charisma) equal to Street Cred to social rolls for people who are aware of your reputation?

Not a problem! Now I'm going to throw this little warning out here: I usually don't have a lot of time to spend on the forums, so this is actually a rare occurrence (my responding so quickly). I will do my absolute best to answer questions related to Shadowrun Missions, but there will be times when you will not see me for a while. I wear a couple of different hats for CGL and the CDT. Luckily, I have a great FAQ Committee who are also able to answer these same questions and I've seen them post as well.
1) The normal formula applies and any street cred you earn/lose during an SRM/CMP/PM is added/subtracted from that total.
2) You are correct on both accounts:, buy off Notoriety (2 to 1) and dice pool bonus under those circumstances. This actually came up in discussion at last night's call, so we'll discuss Street Cred, Notoriety, and Public Awareness in more detail during one of the upcoming calls.
