Post by: thalandar on <12-19-10/0242:28>
What kind of mundane tree is the sangre del diablo tree a paranormal varient of?  I have been reading through war and it doesn't say, unless I am missing it.

I'm not sure if this info is in WAR, But according to YotC it's a surged variant of Sangre del Drago

Yup.  The Sangre Del Drago is a real tree that grows in South America.  It's sap has long been said to have healing properties by the natives, and today there are pharmaceutical companies that harvest it's sap to extract certain enzymes or some such from them for medication.

When I had to create an "Evil, Sentient, Carnivorous Tree" for Year of the Comet, that seems like a great choice to twist.

THe AUthor for War! took it a step further, creating a second Awakened varient of the tree with the Sangre del Draco (Since Sangre Del Drago is "Blood of the Dragon", in my mind I translate Sangre Del Draco to "Blood of the Drake", not certain what he had in mind though) as an awakened version with potentially magical healing properties.

Or just invest in a flamethrower and burn them all to ash.  Differentiation problem solved.

Sadly, the Sangre Del Diablo is highly resistant to flame, and the wood is incredibly dense and resistant to damage.  Not to mention getting close enough to one leaves you vulnerable to it's compulsion power.

The Diablo's were designed to be a fun but very dangerous little plant. :)

Crap.  I know!  Rocket launchers!  Everybody loves rocket launchers.  Those should work.  If not, tanks.

Acid, from the sky. Problem solved. Also, I see Agent Orange making a come-back with these babies...

Rocket Launchers would likely work. :)  As would Agent Orange or DDT, possibly ;)

Or, you know, just walk around them.  They are stationary.  (Though fun fact, in one draft, they were more like Treants. :))

I like the idea of an air-wing of Thunderhawks loaded down with 500 gallon "bombs" of acid... It sounds like Aztlan's style to me.

As long as they play "Ride of the Valkryes" while they do it....Oh wait, that sounds more like a SK thing.

They could still do it for the irony?

For some reason, the Azzies don't seem to me like they'd be that big on irony.  Though it would be funny.

Or oh god.  Play Flight of the Bumblebee during the bombing.   :D
