Title: [IC] Underworld 93 - December 2072
Post by: Bull on <12-04-10/1744:40>
OOC Note: Starting up a new thread for December.  Some of this may tie into SRM 04-00: Back In Business and the greater Season 4 Missions plot as a whole.  Please refrain from posting spoilers once the adventure is released.

Bad news: I'm going to need a new leg. And the meds make me woozy. And i'm writing that using ARgloves, because they don't let me connect otherwise while i'm hooked to all that stuff. I'm just going to report to you what happened, so you'll know there are some new freaks in town. They call themselves Ashborn. I think they might be involved in something big. Which i stumbled upon by chance while looking for clues on Cap'n Jack thingie. Just my luck.
And as for where i've went. Well, let's say it's not a corporate, nor governmental facility. A few of you might have guessed. And i'm not going to spoil your fun by telling. Anyways, thanks for tips and help offers. I didn't wanted to share my problems on you.
So anyways, i've got a new job. I work for my hosts for two months, and i get both a new leg, and a spider's salary. All tax-free. I think it's a good deal. And i'm going to stay in town. Those ashtray freaks won't leave me alone for a while, but i've got protection. Not that i won't need any when my contract expires. Oh, and i'll be also dealing jobs from my host from time to time.      KCM, Knight Classic Movies, just released a remastered version on all 11 of the old Tron Films, completely upgraded to full trid compatibility.  THe disks come from those films.  A lot of these kids never saw the films, and since there's some evidence that points to them being the inspiration for the early design of the Matrix, it's gained a serious resurgence in popularity.  If you've never seen them, do yourself a favor and do so.  Just remember, they're old.  Really, really old.  So don't expect the best special effects.  Remastering can only do so much for these old flatscreen films (Even though films 2 and up were filmed in what was laughably called 3D back in the day).

Okay Guys I've been asked train up these noobs so they dont get blown up again. We've got an Ex Military Streetsam, wired, assault rifles and an unhealthy prefrence for gassing enemies with warp. Next is a stealthy sniper/unarmed adept, apparently hes paranoid as all hell. Ex-Knight Errant Rigger/Hacker who, as I said, just lost an eye, most of his drones and his van. Lastly a mage, specialising in spirits but doesnt know a damn thing past Conjuring basics.

>>>>>[Chrona, a few yen worth of basic advice. First, crosstrain, crosstrain, crosstrain. You sound like you have a decent but slightly specialized group. Specialization is not a bad thing, but I follow the rule that everyone should at least know something about the job the other guy does; just in case. Not to mention everyone knowing first aid is never a bad thing. Have the ones who are strong in one thing teach the others who are weak, even the mage (and see about getting him a tutor). This should help build team cohesion, help maximize efficency, and help get through any past "issues"; if ego's don't get in the way. Remember, you are dealing with people who already have a background and an idea on "how things work". In my experience, that's usually the hardest hurdle to get over. Now, if you want to make this a permanent team, schedule regular drills. Time at the range, hand to hand, calistenics (they LOVE that one) or workout sessions, and time practicing with specialized gear. If not, like I said, at least do a few mock runs to see where your weaknesses are.

Second, find a place where you can practice togeather. I have an associate in Tacoma who still owns a warehouse I used back in the day for just such a purpose. It's secure and comes equipped with all sorts of...training aids. Best training house in the area outside Fort Lewis. I can play middleman if you like, but be warned there will be a decent deposit to cover any damages. When you get there, tell Momma Dot that "her favorite solider boy" sent you. And no cracks, she has a short temper and shorter trigger pull on her Panther.

Third, and most important: if this is your team, make sure they KNOW it's your team. Last thing anyone needs before or during a run is a chain of command issue or a loose cannon. If you need any more help, let me know and we can work out terms.]<<<<<

>>>>>[I got cocky and pissed off at about the same time about twelve years or so ago, and thought because I knew a few spells that I was a match for a half-dozen rapist gangers. Tracked their asses down and took a couple of them out of the fight...and then the one I hadn't seen popped three caps from a Colt Manhunter in my back. Dragonslayer alone knows how they missed my heart, spine, and skull, but I was in a hurting status.
I'm pretty sure I died that day, though I obviously got better.
When I woke up, days had passed. My nurse had gone to take care of my sister, and the man who saved my ass made sure I had something to eat and drink, and then spent the next three hours telling me in great detail all the mistakes I'd made. I don't think I ever thanked him properly for that.
So there's my wake-up call story in a nutshell. There's more to it, of course, but that's a story for another day. Right now, I've got to go to work.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Yeah, 'shiva arms' and a few other things. Was latent, basically, and thank the Ghost for 'trodes, so I can hack without messing up my aura. Can't use the 'trodes in dracoform, though. For the heck of it, I kludged up an ancient deck, looks kinda like something some old ork hacker might use, and wired up an honest-to-Ghost oversized keyboard just so I could use the Matrix when I'm in scales. Not sure how it is for other changeling-drakes, either. The extra arms and drek carry over to the scales for me, and I'm not entirely sure if there are any other changeling-drakes around. Also, someone who's Awakened far enough can still sling spells with a bit of 'ware inside, but... well, you know how there's a hole in the aura where cyber is? That hole's in their mojo, too. I'm hardly a good one to ask about magic beyond that, though. It's hard to walk in three worlds, none of the skills get as sharp.]<<<<<

Short background, growing up I had to listen to how 'pure humans' were the best , etc, etc. Doesn't mean I took it all in, but it does mean that it affected how I see the world. For a time period and I got wiser since then. You are right, though. Due to people's limited knowledge, and the corp loving to tell us what is best for us, that saying anything that doesn't fit the bottom line is bad, and people believing it. Corps & govts don't know how to deal with drake, changelings, technomancers, and so on. Odd, runners seem to deal better with it. Maybe runners can teach the military something. I have learned to judge the person, not what they look like. Anyway, 4 arms should it easier for you to hack around me.]<<<<<
