Title: Distinctive Style and Metavariants
Post by: Nomad Zophiel on <11-03-10/0529:43>
From Distinctive Style: All the advanced character options in this book automatically suffer the effects of Distinctive Style and do not get a BP bonus.

Advanced character options presumably refers to all the things in Alternative Character Concepts, right?

How many levels of Distinctive Style are advanced character types presumed to have? I'd guess one plus any more that come from features that specifically count as Distinctive Style on their own (like Glamour).

Would the tracking bonus from Distinctive Style for being a Drake apply only if the person doing the tracking was aware of/had seen the character's dracoform? Ditto for any other sort of shifter.

Wouldn't it be possible to build a Changeling that has no obvious outward signs of his condition? Would Distinctive Style still apply in that case?

Purely by RAW, any nonstandard metatype or changeling would get this, but I think that statement is too broad.  I wouldn't apply it to a changeling with no visible differences, although some of the non-visible ones such as symbiosis might still count due to how they affect the character's behavior.  The drake is a bit more of a grey area.  Searchers might not know of the drake form, but what about when they start digging?  I might apply a threshold, then apply distinctive style if they beat it.  Not sure.

Yes,its possible and sadly by RAW they still suffer from the Flaw even though its not visible at all.
Its the same with the unlogical decision do arbitrarily add points to the Cost of Metavariants

I haven't seen a value anywhere, though. Would they all start with one level?

There is no Value !
I assume Level 1 as default
some might get more(Nartaki f.E. 1 for being Nartaki,1 for their Arms and 1 for the Skincolor)
some SHOULD get less (Oni in Japan f.E. are about 75% of all Orks which is aproximately 5-10% of all Japanese more than Pure Strain Orks !)
