"Certain university and corporate research institutes, notably MIT&T and Aztechnology, have sponsored teams to penetrate the Zone and study the situation. Some literature I “liberated” suggests they’re attempting to create a Focusing metamagic, based on Filtering techniques, to allow magicians to operate normally in the mana ebb by crafting a weave that gathers and concentrates the mana nearby"

Wonder if they are rediscovering spell matrices.

That would be fragging awesome. I can't tell you how much I want a "Mage's Lined Coat" or a "Lightning Blade" or a "Fireball Pistol".

I have made a "fireball pistol" with the current rules as making a regular pistol an anchoring foci for combat spells, and designating firing the trigger as the... trigger.
