Title: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Weebomancer on <04-11-12/2153:43>
Welcome to 2074. (Why? Because Captain Chaos says so!)

Character creation rules here https://sites.google.com/site/sr4lco/character-creation

I have lots of free time but I expect most people who play by post do not. I aim for once a week posts minimum if you could please do that much at least. So as to not slow this to a snails pace. The site I linked already has 7 players in that game but I'm using the chargen rules on that site. Ignore anything else unless you are interested in joining a 7 man group over skype/maptools on tuesdays, after 7pm, when the strawberries are ripe.

Beyond that here is the new Bioware.

Tissue Augmentation 15,000 Nuyen and .5 essence per rating. Max rating of 4. Body is increased by this rating. Stacks with bone density augmentation body increase and bone lacing (if lacing ever should provide it I never did look at ALL of the lacing)

No more then 8 players please and also these people have priority over others as they both helped out with the chargen rules and showed interest.

I know that's a lot of people more then the 8 person limit I personally propose (subject to change per player vote that's just my personal hard cap I won't let it go above 8 PC's) what does that say about my chances of getting in? Well not much. You see life hits you like Ippo Makunouchi on a Dempsey Roll so from what I know half or more of these people may not have time to play. Meaning there will likely be people without that priority playing. Including you. Also I ask that any players on the VIP list that aren't interested or unable to play tell me as much so I can state next to your name that you aren't up for it.

People In
Slot 1: Mirikon
Slot 2: Lethe
Slot 3: bangbangtequila
Slot 4: All4BigGuns - Primary: Fire Support/Other Support
Slot 5: Nycidian Grey - Drone Rigger/Technomancer
Slot 6: Aria
Slot 7: e-do
Slot 8: Jian

Any interested players will now be thrown into a wordpad file for high powered games. These people are the new priority list if I do another game.

Background

Throughout 2072 and 2073 assassination attempts were made against various great dragons. Some of these include failed attempts at Lofwyr and Hestaby. Two high profile dragons that in particular used the coverage for their own gain. But no one could mistake the panic even in the media queens eyes or the anger in Lofwyr's voice...these assassins waited in their most private sanctums and murdered their second in command...no matter how you slice it, this was not staged. The bodies of the attackers burned away after dying but reports state that they were elves. The Tir nations are claiming to have no ties to these assassination attempts. These two attempts in particular were made in 2072.

One of the elves is found with a new piece of hardware and this is in turn reverse engineered by everyone. Say hello to Tissue Augmentation people. The newest bioware ever. Of course where it came from remains a mystery as well as who made it. Now back to those angry angry dragons (not the board game!). It would seem that everything was slowing down. In fact it was pretty slow, which is a very strange thing, across the globe. Now if anyone knows how the criminal world works there is a damn good reason it's allowed to still exist. In the end it generates money for the people it rips off. Yes you can never rip off a corp. But the main point here is that Knight Errant saw less crime reports to fill out. Common speculation was that the megacorps came up with a brilliant plan and used all these criminals to do something super dangerous and most of them may have died. This was wrong. Terrorist cells, radicals, paramilitary groups, racism clubs, and even gangs, stopped and I mean stopped. There was literally no crime from any organized criminal group in the world for six months. Then the magic happened, on live television December 25, 2073, black armor clad (yeah say what you will but they looked cool) militants tortured and killed Hestaby. Live. Everyone thought it was either some weird sitcom or a secret porn vid until they got reports that it was on every media outlet. Radios included. Personal commlinks were the only secure thing to use during this time as everything else was hijacked. How no one knows. But after realizing that what was being seen was real almost everyone protested or left to help their favorite dragon, even UCAS dispatched a force. Of course not many people solo a torture session with a great dragon and live to tell the tale. Upon meeting a black clad army whose bodies and everything on them burned to ash upon death they realized Harlequin was present for that battle. They never found a body, but then what body could have been left behind? In a stunningly fast defeat ARES decided to use it's orbital weapons platform. The platform failed disastrously, first firing and destroying the UCAS/Tir combined forces most important assets, refusing to stop firing it eventually taxed itself and exploded, among other things the platform now needs to be rebuilt. As Hestaby drew her last dying breath and the survivors lay there defeated waiting for aid from their comrades Harlequin made his final move in this life. Moving in he tried in vain to save Hestaby with his magic but in the end it ended up costing him his own as he underestimated the madman now known as the "Dragonslayer". Both Hestaby and Harlequin were lost. Hestaby at least had a body to mourn over but whatever magic was used on Harlequin it left naught but a fine red mist.

Since that day no one has seen nor heard about the Dragonslayer but many are living in fear of this madmans power.

January 13, 2074 - Reports state that an implant caused all of the black soldiers to burn away to ash via a potent version of white phosphorous or incendiary means they as of yet do not understand. The one body they do have was courtesy of Lofwyr's failed assassination attempt. Further study shows that this army may be made up of criminals across the world. If so they are expected to have the means to be anywhere within a reasonably short amount of time.

Welcome to 2074.

Some things to know about the state of the world.

-Martial law has been used in many countries since 2073.
-Mt. Shasta is a war zone.
-Many dragons have gone into hiding. With only the most powerful still hanging around publicly.

Question, if normal availability is 18 whats restricted gear bump it up to?

Second I would love to join a game I'll be honest I have never really played much Shadowrun but have owned the books since 1st edition and love the world.

Here's my character backstory I'm interested in playing.
[spoiler]Iron Talon was born Jared Winterborn on Jan, 3rd 2046 in Port Townsend to a Makah mother and an Anglo Father.

While growing up Jared learned from tribesmen who followed more traditional ways and a few who embraced the modern world. Both types of people urged him to see their way of viewing the world. But while Jared could see how interconnected the world was, unlike the traditionalists he also felt a connection to the modern world. As much as he saw the value of his people's traditional connection to the earth he needed to also connect with the iron and lightning of the new world.

Because of his unique thoughts he became a loner for most of his childhood. He developed an awareness of his own unique beliefs. He came to believe that as important as the natural world was, surely the mechanical and electrical must be as integral to our world as the living aspects. Not long after his 17th year he felt vindicated when the tenuous connection he felt bloomed and he began to see more and more information from the tech he encountered. At first as much as he believed he still wondered if it was just delusions but eventually as this continued, he was able to access data nodes without a commlink and even turn some simple things on and off. Then the final validation came to him as he was fully immersed trying to see if he could connect to a drone his father had bought to help clean their house.

Without any time passing or movement he found himself deep in a what looked like a forest yet everything was not quite like any place had ever known. It took him a second to realize that while everything looked natural and complete it was not a biological forest but one of machines. The leaves of the trees were tinted blue and when he reached out and took one into his hand he could see the that they were covered in solar cells though they looked as if they had grown there, having a quite natural beauty. He then looked at the bark and saw that it looked to be made of some sort of carbon composite perhaps. Letting go of the tree leaf he looked around and saw that everything in this forest seemed to be not only machine but quite alive. At that thought he noticed a large shadow pass over him. He looked in that dirrection to see a large Raven Land with a Loud metallic thunk. He soon found out this iron raven's name was Trickster, and was taught through communion how to become close to the living machines around him, also Trickster warned him to hide his ability because many could not or would not understand.

As Jared reached his 18th birthday he found he really had little in common with those in his town and felt stifled within his small community. He decided to enlist and because of his exceptional abilities he eventually became a pilot. After his first enlistment term he decided to leave the military as rumors of weird things that sounded like what he could do and rumors of government and corporate searches made him scared he might have issues if he stayed.

Knowing that if he wanted to stay hidden he need to head to somewhere where personal questions were discouraged he headed towards the Cascades. He eventually got a job fixing vehicles on a smuggling route. This job led to him meeting his future smuggling partner Chase. Chase an Anglo out of Seattle was part of a team of smugglers that ran through that route about once a month. For about a year he kept running into chase as their Nizhinyi BMV-2 needed constant work. At that time Jared and Chase struck up a strong friendship, and after that year when Chase's partner decided to move on Chase asked Jared to become his pilot. Jared agreed and Started going by the name Iron Raven.

For more than two years every thing went exceedingly well so well that Raven was able to buy into the partnership and they were able to buy a newer LAV. Then he and his partner made the mistake of stepping on the toes of another smuggling operation ran by the Dog Men, ex Tsimshian nationals who not only were pissed about loosing business but because Iron Raven was Makah apparently decided to burn some heavy favors. The Dog Men ended up somehow finding out where Chase and he were going to be crossing into the metroplex with a load and tipped off Lone Star. Iron Raven was able to get enough distance while evading Lone Star to let chase off and lead lonestar away before giving himself up.

The next three years he spent in a heavy security prison. Now hes free but has to start over again with nothing accept a bad reputation for being caught (not a good thing as a smuggler) and the great benefit of a criminal SIN.

Now with the help of Chase they both have decided to start over in Seattle using Iron Ravens mechanic Skills and Chases business skills for both a front and hopefully eventually to get back in the smuggling game.[/spoiler]

I have the character mostly done but I need to add some qualities skills and gear considering your rules but considering how nuyen starved this character was as a rigger that should be useful.

Thanks for putting me on the VIP list!
I am feeling an extraordinary amount of love and interest towards this game. But unfortunately I am otherwise engaged and fear that I would be holding back the game should I join.
I thank you for your generous offer and would thank you again for putting me on the reserve list, should places open up in the future.

Have fun!

Definitely interested. I've statted up an 'advanced' version of Iceblade I could use, or I could come up with something new, depending on the needs of the group.

If there's room after the reserved people have gotten in, I'm definitely interested. Of course, given that, from what I know, at least seven of the pre-approved people are interested, and someone unapproved already posted interest before me... Eh, it's going to be a tight fit. Still, I reckon it'll be worth a try.

I would also be interested in joining you if there's a slot once the VIPs have snapped up their spots.  I'm a regular pbp GM and player on the DS forum and this game sounds like it might fit Feral, a wolf shifter mysad who is a featured NPC in a large number of my games.

There's a 400BP version of him here (http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=35572&view=findpost&p=1096011) including background (which would need updating to 2074) - he has always been played as being more powerful than this so the extra points would be welcome!

Excellent.
I already made a character for this long time ago, just for when it finally will come up...at least so i thought.
Looking at the chummer file now, it was quite empty.
But creating characters is fun... so here i go..

Any details on the campaign settings to include into the characters background?

What exactly means "Anything I think they should have will be added such as skills, safehouses, and backup gear stashes".
Ie. if you think everyone should start with some basics like athletics/influence/stealth group at 1, it would be good to know that before character creation, to build on it.

I throw stuff at you after creation but anything I throw at you after creation is geared to your background. This is due to chummer letting me add stuff for free only after chargen. Also something I feel is low may get boosted. So keep in mind these are not the only bonuses. Actually these are the only gear bonuses the ones after creation tend to be qualities attributes or skills IE stuff that costs karma not money.

1 point in Athletics, Stealth, Influence, Outdoors.
OR 3 points in any one skill in those groups. That means you could take 4 skills one from each group at rating 3 or every skill in those groups at 1. The choice is yours.
One low level lifestyle bought, complete with a basic gear bag of your choice up to 15,000 Nuyen in value for gear. This lifestyle gets up to 10 points of advanced lifestyle qualities. Your choice. Keep in mind this place is a storage and safehouse for when drek hits the psychotically violent and vindictive troll. You get three of these and they can be anywhere. You can have one in Africa or even Japan. Anywhere you want them to be.
You also get one free vehicle and upgrades for it up to a 40,000 nuyen cost total.
As for restricted gear it bumps it up by 8 doesn't it? You normally start at 12 and can go to 20. So in this case 18 goes to 26.

Rosethorn is a facilitator. Face, assassin, runner, con artist, corporate spy. All of these, but long gone from merely that. He made things happen.

A natural elf, born so in 2035, he grew up bouncing through foster homes until savvy enough to leave. It was a petty life of small time crime until he was in his thirties, running up tabs under stolen ID's, forging poker chips and artwork, and getting a lifestyle far beyond his means and fleeing the wrath of those on the hook for them. Then he started running. He discovered the depth of the world around him, the politics, the magic, the true crimes, the world. Corporations didn't just run things, they ran everything. He decided he wouldn't be some petty fool anymore, he was going places. The streets were left behind as he stole the identity of a security chief of an Aztechnology building, and turned himself in after two weeks. After all, when someone shows up your security so spectacularly, gets away scott free, and then tells you about it, how could you not offer him a job?

So here he was, a man with a golden tongue, a hand so fast he could take your eyes, draw a knife, trim his nails and sheath it before you started screaming, and a job that paid more then he'd made in years on his own. He discovered, courtesy of the Azzie corp-aug program, that he was one of those few and far between capable of taking ordinary bioware and having it mesh flawlessly with a zero-point-zero zero four chance of rejection and ninety-seven percent integration ratio. While the numbers flew over his head, he damned well loved the new skills. He'd always been fast, but now he was fast. He sank thirteen schemes in the Chicago headquarters, taking down a cell of Ares-employed runners with only the help of the corporate Spider, Jax, who owed him - the only one he trusted at that moment. He lived in a high rise condo overlooking the ocean through glass so tough you could crash a helicopter into it and never flinch, eating snacks that, if sold for soy, could feed a hab for the day, and barely took the edge of his munchies off. These weren't even the good perks. He took damn near a half-mil in modifications to his body under the corp-aug, and he paid it off in scrip in under six months with the bounties. He achieved black-level clearance, officially wiping his name off the ledgers and setting up private accounts. He also, unfortunately for the Azzies, discovered just what sort of enemies a job this great could earn.

That condo of his? Well, the glass never broke, not even when the whole level exploded with fifty pounds of C4 lacing the supporting columns. Quite the sight to see a thirty foot wide, eight feet tall sheet of semi-indestructible glass propelled outwards at damn near the speed of sound, and with a background of setting up bed-burners himself, he appreciated the beauty. If John hadn't sent the hooker on ahead to warm up the bed while he picked up some recreational pharmaceuticals from his guy two blocks down, he'd have seen it from a whole different perspective. He bailed, fast. He had a getaway in Seattle, paid for under an alias even the Azzies hadn't known about, paid for out of accounts Jax had made damned sure weren't traceable by anyone. He made it there in twelve hours, loaded for bear. Nobody was home, and John got a chance to sit down and think it through. Nobody could have set that bomb, nobody cleared his security without the right codes. If they had the codes, then it was damned sure that the Azzies sold him out. So he scratched off his list of contacts, and started it over. There was just one name on the list of trusted, earned by virtue of a debt and a safe bed. He picked up the burner 'link and dialed. "Jax. Rosethorn."

I am considering making an "upgraded" version of Predator, but there is one major issue. I do not have access to 'voice' chat stuff, and I am too broke to be able to afford everything for it. If this can be worked around, the only other issue would be that I'm unsure if Chummer automatically adjusts Restricted Gear if standard max availability is raised--normal version doesn't have it, but the upgrade might depending on how it comes out.

While I may, of course, have misread things, I'm reasonably sure that the thing about 'voice' was referring to the other campaign mentioned on the linked site. As far as I can tell, this one will be fully text-based, and hence, you need not worry at all.

So what roles are covered? Would an 'upgraded' version of Iceblade, Faust, Motoko, or Wyrmtongue (links to the originals all in my SIG) be better for this group?

Well, you know what I'll be able to do if the upgrading process works out well enough. Working on it now, though the Essence I'm seeing makes me nervous (0.02 seems pretty low).

In that case, I'll stick with Iceblade. He's the character I know best, anyways. He, Faust, and Motoko are the first three characters I made for Shadowrun, and I've had each of them for a few years now, in various incarnations.

...then again, I suppose I might as well withdraw interest. Most of the spots already seem to be taken by reserved players - perhaps even all of them - and in any case, I cannot say I'm too fond of the background story. Still, good luck with the game, I guess.

For those, who choose to create awakened characters with chummer and want to initiate, which is normally not possible in chummer using BP chargen, i added 3 qualities to the list, called "Initiation (Rating 1-3)" for 7/15/24 BP which adds 1-3 to the max magic. Simply copy over your qualities.xml in chummer with this one.

Okay, I've played around with Chummer enough to know how most things work, but I have not figured out how to add in these free levels of those skill groups (the application is hard-coded not to let one raise a skill or skill group unless they have the necessary karma for it). Should we just add in the karma for these free ranks, or do you know of a way around this? (Note- The free level would put my upgraded character at 2 in each of those groups except Outdoors--which would be at 1). Though I'm also not sure on adding the free lifestyles, but that's not such a big deal since the plan is just to make a 'gear bag' list and put the same kit at each of the three, just listing the list and locations (will have one more of the lifestyles personally due to a quality, but that one probably would lack the extra kit).

Edit: Here is a start for what the upgrades look like so far. It does not show the free lifestyles or the 'gear bags', nor does it have the free point for those four skill groups since I can't figure out how to get the extra rank added in for free. Also note that the lifestyle from Trust Fund quality isn't notated out at present either.

== Background ==
Born to a pair of Renraku employees, Reiko was raised in a more luxurious lifestyle than most shadowrunners in her early years. Her father was a mid-ranking security officer, and her mother worked in high level research and development for the company's primary industry of electronics--both at the corporation's home office in Japan.

Just a few short months after her tenth birthday, she was uprooted from her life and schoolmates when her parents were both transferred to the Seattle office in the Arcology. It took her quite a while to adjust to life in the UCAS sprawl, not the least of reasons was learning a new language, but after only a couple of years things settled back into normalcy.

For most of her youth, she was intrigued by both of her parents jobs for the corporation and strived to work toward gaining proficiency in both fields, but while she was able to become competent with computers, the skills needed for her father's job in security seemed to come most naturally for her resulting in her learning combative techniques much more easily.

Things seemed to go well once she'd become acclamated to the differences in lifestyle between Japan and Seattle, at least until she started entering into adolescence. Once she hit fifteen, Reiko began to enter a phase of rebellion where she would sneak out of the house at night and go out "slumming" in various bars and nightclubs located in the less than savory parts of the sprawl. She was caught sneaking back in to the house after these sojourns into seedier life--early on even before getting out to begin with--and punished heavily, but all this really did was provide her with lessons in what not to do when it came to stealth.

Two days after Reiko's sixteenth birthday, her life was again turned upside down as she and her family had to make their escape as the Arcology entered it's state of lockdown. While her parents and herself made it out--barely--and managed getting themselves set up with a fairly comfortable substitute home in Bellevue, it was driven home quite hard for her how bad the situation was because a young, at eighteen, security officer that she'd developed feelings for and had, for half a year, a clandestine romantic relationship with, was still trapped inside the Arcology. While she could, on very sporadic frequency and for extremely short time periods, get calls in to the young man, the long periods in which no contact was possible would send her into mild depression states for days, a condition which baffled her parents who, of course, knew nothing of the relationship.

As time went one, Reiko eventually resigned herself to the situation of it not likely being possible to ever see the young man, whom she considered to be the love of her life, again, and her life slowly began returning as close as possible to how it was before the lockdown--even though she still made what little contact with him as was possible given the situation.

Only a littler over two years--on month over to be exact--after the escape from the Arcology, Reiko's life was again shattered. She was just getting home after one of her 'slumming' escapades, only to discover that the door to the house was slightly open. Moving inside carefully, she poked her head around the corner, calling out to her mother and father, only to discover as she did that her father was lying face down on the now shattered table in the living room in a pool of his own blood with a bullet hole in the back of his head. Being unused to this sort of carnage, she stood helplessly frozen for several minutes, grief bringing tears to sting her eyes. Once she had regained some measure of control over herself, she started calling to her mother again as she moved through the disaster area which was her home. She was even more unprepared for what she found once she entered the kitchen. Lying on her back--also in a pool of her own blood which was running down the side of the 'island' in the middle of the room--was her mother, stripped almost completely nude and severely mutilated. At this point, the girl went nearly catatonic for hours, just huddled in a corner silently sobbing over the loss of her family.

The final months of her time in schooling saw a much more subdued Reiko, for the most part, being that she had turned eighteen the month before, she used her inheritence to keep up her standard of living while she finished her time in school, and after that, she began putting the abilities she had to use to supplement the inherited funds by doing any number of things, including shadow work.

She still has not discovered who murdered her parents so brutally, but she has never stopped looking for clues as to the identities of the perpetrators, or why they did what they did. She eventually did discover that the young security hacker that she'd been enamored of did, in fact, come out of the ordeal of the lockdown alive, if not entirely unscathed. Once the two met once again, she discovered that her feelings--and his--were still as strong as ever.

Having read the story I'm now keen to make a drake rather than Feral...which is a bugger because I've almost finished statting him up lol

Hi everybody *waves*,

If there's still an open spot, I'd very much like to join the shenanigans with an ex-Lone Star DIPS (Division of Paranormal Investigations) detective gone 'running following either a nasty case of dracomorphosis (assuming Aria doesn't play a Drake, that is); or ghoulificiation (assuming a ghoul character wouldn't be too inappropriate). Heavy on perception with a nice blend of skills to boot.

How does that sound to you guys?

Something tells me our characters will probably be the oldest out of all of them. I hope we don't end up the de facto leaders again like we were in that one game....

Heh. We'll muddle through somehow. At least Iceblade actually has confidence to be a leader in combat situations, and experience. Wyrmtongue literally doesn't know a thing about the shadows.

Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: All4BigGuns on <04-14-12/2015:39>
Mirikon, did you figure out how to add those free ranks in those skill groups using the Chummer program? Those skill ranks are all that are missing from my upgrade.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Weebomancer on <04-15-12/0129:28>
Oh my bad. Skype and Chummer are parts to be ignored. Those were specific to the other game. The play by post accepts characters in any format. My bad...I didn't realize that technically my instructions on "Use these chargen rules" were so general. I wan't even THINKING about chummer or skype so ignore those as you will. And it looks like some of the non priority players are getting in.

(On a totally unrelated note. I GOT -1!. I mean I WAS stuck at 0/0 rep there for a while. Sweet to have something different.)

One more edit. If you use chummer go ahead and add the necessary karma to increase skills by the amount. Obviously this karma is negligible for any other purposes like street cred or reputation things that karma might be linked into. Of course this must be done post creation.

All right, posting final version of the upgrade. Only thing left is for me to come up with these 'gear kits' and figure out where I'm gonna put those free lifestyles.

== Background ==

[/spoiler]

She may not look overly impressive, but she can kind of pull off "secondary" in a lot of areas.

Alright, so there's the basic run down of Rosethorn (Yes, I just finished Eisenhorn, loved it!). It's no masterpiece, but it neatly explains how he did, in fact, work for a corporation as a security exec, which explains the wicked-skills, and I feel I did a good job explaining why he is no longer so fond of going brand name when he job hunts. I figure I will write up a list of contacts using the charisma points, and then we can factor those and any others you care to include when we do the three mini-runs.

Let me know if anyone cares to tie-in, or if our illustrious GM wants me to add any particular hooks in. My sheet will come sometime this week.

Honestly, my guys combat style will be more betancor then eisenhorn, but still. Maybe if I made a magician I would go more gregor.

Hmmm. I just thought of something awesome to work in...

So, if I'm following correctly so far, we have: a special-ops, sword-wielding elf combat mage; a well-off street samurai; and a slick elf spymaster. Who else is on the team's menu?

Probably just an oversight from the editing he apparently did to the first post. Mistakes do happen sometimes.  :P

Cinnamon (Drake) will be part infiltrator part melee specialist I think...mysad so some utility there possibly.

I'm not sure from the initial story where we will be fitting into the action in all this (please kick me if I've missed something obvious!!!).  As a drake she'll be wanting to keep low profile certainly but I'm not sure whether to align her with the now deceased Hestaby or perhaps Celedyr as per a previous drake character of mine.

Iceblade would be in on this for the simple reason of finding and killing the Dragonslayer. His sister was a Paladin of Hestaby's, so he would take her death very personally.

I will be face, super-augmented gunslinger, and stealthy demolitions. Mostly it's the abundance of Bioware, since I'm loading him up with Type-O.

Sorry to keep flitting about...I tried to build Cinnamon over lunchtime and failed significantly!  485 points sounds like a lot but not when the racial cost is so high for not a huge boost.  So instead would someone like Switch be suitable?  Seeing as she's based on the telekine in Eisenhorn!

•   <<Switch>> (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnYw4d165IBNdFl2eGIwaWtHcjFUWVJObmYzYzRBWWc) Changeling mystic adept, telekenetic.  Focused on knife fighting and secondary social skills.  400BPs

At least here I'd be starting with a resonable build and adding points rather than squeezing down!

Or if you prefer I have an AI <<Shrike>> (http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?s=0bac27fba69f2a2958abd7f7231ba271&showtopic=35971&view=findpost&p=1111313) who I've never had a chance to play either!
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Weebomancer on <04-16-12/1445:34>
485 only sounds like a lot when until you realize 85 of it is shunted into money and qualities. Then you realize you still only have 400 for chargen purposes denoting stats, skills, etc.

Also for Sichr, Peat, and Rusalka if I run another game they will be high priority. Seeing as how they wanted to play a high powered game but Sichr seems too busy, Peat isn't interested in this particular main storyline, and Rusalka is the same on that note.

So I have all three on another list on my computer as interested in a highpowered game.

Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer

We do but he seems to focus on drones, a hacker or second technomancer is never a bad thing. Also the only people I have as complete and ready to play are in the OP. All4 has a fire support, support character and Ny has a technomancer drone rigger/hacker.

I'm playing a technomancer, but he'll be terrible as a hacker since he's got resonance 3. Mad 'ware though.

Well I'm kicking a solid dicepool for charisma linked skills, usually going to be 12-20. combat wise i'll be decent, but not against any serious enemies.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer

Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer

Always need more magicians. I would take a dedicated heavy weapons specialist, or some combat monster, a Troll with rockets, grenades, and machine guns or something.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Mirikon on <04-16-12/1548:57>
I'm a combat mage, with a bit of social skills. Primarily melee combatant with spells and guns to back it up at range. Also, I have a possession tradition.

I'm pretty much generalist. I can be functional in several areas. About the only thing I can't do is the magic stuff--would be kinda hard with .15 essence.

Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer

A support and healing mage would be good. Buff me and Ice--so Ice can save his actions--with Increase Strength and Increase Body and keep everyone patched up. Then there's also the more utilitarian spells.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Mirikon on <04-16-12/1630:31>
I don't need Increase Strength and Body. I'm a possession mage with Channeling. I summon a spirit and have it possess me.

With that in mind I think Shrike might be the better choice and spend some of those extra points to get better at hacking and shift her away from the drones a bit.

That sound ok to everyone?

Sorry about that. I thought they stacked, as in go to augmented max with the spells and then go beyond with the spirit's Force. I could be wrong in that, but it sounded cool.  ::)
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Mirikon on <04-16-12/1637:52>
No, they only go up to augmented max.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: bangbangtequila on <04-16-12/1639:31>
Now possessed mages can still only go up to the augmented max, right?

Also, when possessed, doesn't that put you under the spirit's control, at least partially? That'd be bad.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Mirikon on <04-16-12/1642:26>
For a possession mage possessing himself with a spirit he summoned or bound, it puts the spirit in control, but the spirit is still under your control. It is like a rigger controlling a drone without jumping in.

However, if you have the Channeling metamagic, like I do, then you remain in control when one of your spirits possesses you.

CT (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=487.msg122935#msg122935) as a rough concept... well almost finished, but will  probably change some stuff. Also will addup nuyen and bp costs in detail later.

As a side note, for the Ares Slivergun, do we use the 8P +5AP or +2AP?

I have a quick question for the group. Would you mind the rules for sprites controlling drones? In particular I can post the question and link sent to me by one player. I'm all for it since I didn't know they couldn't in the first place. I always assumed there was some option out there that would allow it but I never did get many chances to play matrix based and when I did it wasn't long enough to even get submerision decently. I really should lay into those extra matrix books so I can know what I'm up against though. I only ever touched the base book and unwired but I think there was one more book that had some stuff for technomancers. I could be wrong on that.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to. It's not like I won't be calling in a little wheeled ally myself via Command program should I need it. Just gotta be careful and use my little Darth Machina sparingly.

4d6=15 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3471361/)
+12 = 13 500 starting nuyen!

As a side note, for the Ares Slivergun, do we use the 8P +5AP or +2AP?

I just want you to know...your luck pisses me off on a very low and deep level that has nothing to do with anything. I get minimum or close to every time. You lucky...

On note of the slivergun I think it uses flechette ammo normally but any gun that DOES use that ammo I allow Armor Piercing Flechette. Which gives the +2 DV and a +0 AP if you want to go for it. The slivergun COULD have it's own thing going on though. I still have to make sure I'm keeping up with the errata on some things. At first I thought I was ahead of the game but it seems like there were two releases AFTER that one that I never saw...including this thing on base bow damage.

I know it's unclear but I've always thought they could...machine sprites anyway.  Just replace the pilot program with their value.  I know it's then a grey area whether they get to use any autosofts the drone has but I'd allow it...what's more shades of grey in a cyberpunk game?!?  ;D

Shrike is nearly complete.  Will try and post a link later...

I only got one over the average for 4d6...

The debate rages for the slivergun, since it says flechette, but arsenal (original print) lists it as 8dv +5ap, but the most recent print has it at +2 ap. Same as the remmington 990.

Starting Nuyen roll, I had some leftover money so the +1 (4d6+1=9) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3474534/)

Edit: need to read the rules better should have been +3

11 x 500 = 5,500

Well with Shrike and Nycidian's character we should have more than enough transport to go round!  I've tweaked her away from the drone rigger angle but she still has some of that to add to her adequate hacking skills.  I hope there won't be too much character overlap/redundancy but if there is I'll try and move away from the drones angle more...

...and we'll all have TacNet [3] access so hopefully you're buying simrigs etc to get 6 channels of info :).  If we want [4] that will have to be done in game, and by RAW I won't benefit from it so... :P

For our rigger, I would grab a Wandjina or something from This Old Drone, you can get bad ass drones with awesome weapon mounts for dirt cheap.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Nycidian Grey on <04-18-12/0933:07>
Feel free to go combat drone heavy.

I went more subtle, GMC delivery van, GMC delivery drones w/ concealed LMG's, Ferret security drones w/ Light pistols all with chameleon coating so I can make them look like any delivery service or security drone. The only real heavy combat drone I have is a VTOL with a sniper rifle (9P -8AP).

Sadly subtle wasn't cheap.

One good thing is I think my character is set up to be able to take over other people drones rather well. Though I'm not completely positive.

I am not saying go heavy into combat, but a wandjita has a rwinforced weapon mount, a normal mount, and is a fast aerial strike craft for under 20 .000 nuyen. It's nice to have something that can blow up a building, no?

Unfortunately since I don't have access to an airfield a WANDJINA probably won't work to well but for less cost I can purchase 2 LONE STAR STRATO-9's which each have a reinforced weapon mount and are VTOL that I  may do.

Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Nycidian Grey on <04-18-12/1107:00>
Think I'm going to just keep what I have I looked at the drones and there are some decent options but honestly there not really any cheaper than what I have. The problem isn't drone cost its accessories and weapon costs.

Right now my Berret does 9P damage with -10 AP vs vehicles, the only way I can do better than that is by spending more than 50K on a main weapon or going above 18 availability and still spending 20K a weapon not to mention my sniper rifle is silenced, rockets and tank guns are far from it.

Theoretically I could drop my GMC Van and get a ridiculous gun and a drone for it but if I do that how do I get the large drone to the runs its sure not going to fit on my small car.

I used BP to get 325K nuyen, and spent all but 1220 of it. Included in this is 140K worth of foci, a commlink with 6s in all matrix attributes, programs, Black IC loaded, three fake IDs with associated licenses (ratings 6, 4, and 1), some more sensors, several different outfits, and four lifestyles. Plus a lot of extra goodies.

I would be wary of rating 6 sins. When something is so foolproof and real, it becomes damned hard to burn. I invested in two, a 4 and a 2, but took genewiped to prevent them from being turned criminal or linked to my person. That secures my penthouse against seizure fairly well, and leaves my gm-supplied safehouse for emergency (along with a few grand out of my starter cash)

Not really. For instance, I spent a healthy amount on having six blades and three guns in my arsenal, mainly for stylistic purposes. Oh, and some grenades and AP mines. Four claymores, and four chem mines that spray a Laes/DMSO mix on everyone within 10m.

Frozen Wind (Katana) (62100 nuyen) - (STR/2+3)P, -1 AP, 1 Reach.
**Stacked Focus - Force 3 Weapon Focus. Add force to melee tests. Force 2 Centering Focus. Add force to initiate grade when Centering.
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<16 dice to tests (13 Astral). 5P, -1 AP, 1 Reach>
Frozen Wind is the name of Mirikon's prized possession, a katana that has been customized to his designs, and has been enchanted as a weapon focus. The blade appears to be carved from unmelting blue ice, with veins of orichalcum running through it, and is razor sharp. When viewed through AR, an icy mist seems to fall constantly off the blade whenever it is drawn, and glowing sperethiel runes can be seen, naming the blade. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly.

Flamekissed (Ceramic Knife) (31175 nuyen) - (STR/2+1)P, Undetectable by MAD scanners.
**Sustaining Focus - Force 3. Sustain Health spells without penalty
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<11 dice to attack. 3P.>
Flamekissed is the name of Mirikon's ceramic knife, which has been customized to his designs. The blade appears to have a reddish hue, and is razor sharp. When viewed through AR, the blade is constantly wreathed in fire whenever it is drawn, and glowing sperethiel runes can be seen, naming the blade. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly, and the knife has been enchanted as a Sustaining focus.

Stormtalon - Victorinox SmartStaff (4250 nuyen) - Simple Action (Free if linked to PAN) to change into one of several forms. Closed form has -1 Concealability.
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<Depends on weapon. See WAR.>
Stormtalon is the name of Mirikon's Smartstaff, which has been customized to his designs. When viewed through AR, the weapon seems to crackle with electricity whenever it is held, and glowing sperethiel runes can be seen, naming the weapon. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly.

Moonlight (Gentleman's Vibroblade Swordcane) (3200 nuyen) - (STR/2+4)P, -2 AP, 1 Reach. -6 Concealability to determine true nature.
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<13 dice to attack. 6P, -2 AP, Reach 1.>
Moonlight is the name of Mirikon's vibroblade sword-cane, which has been customized to his designs. The blade appears to blue-white hue, and, when viewed in AR, glowing sperethiel runes can be seen, naming the blade. In addition, the AR overlay constructs a 'trail' of white light in the path the sword takes that lingers for a couple seconds. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly.

Light (Cougar Fineblade Long Blade) (2000 nuyen) - (STR/2+2)P, -1 AP.
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<11 dice to attack. 4P, -1 AP.>
Light is the name of Mirikon's Cougar Fineblade Longknife, which has been customized to his designs. The blade appears to made of forged gold, and is razor sharp. When viewed through AR, the blade is shining with a golden light bright enough to hurt the eyes whenever it is drawn, and black sperethiel runes can be seen glowing amongst the gold, naming the blade. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly.

Shadow (Survival Knife) (1150 nuyen) - (STR/2+1)P, -1 AP. Includes some survival gear.
**Custom Look - Level 2. +2 to tests involving Reputation or intimidation. 1 Slot.
**Personalized Grip - +1 to melee tests. 1 Slot.
<11 dice to attack. 3P, -1 AP>
Shadow is the name of Mirikon's Survival knife, which has been customized to his designs. The blade appears to stained with midnight black, and is razor sharp. When viewed through AR, the blade is constantly wreathed in a cloud of shadow whenever it is drawn, and glowing sperethiel runes can be seen, naming the blade. The hilt has been molded to fit his hand perfectly.

I'm still shocked that there is no combat monster. Like a full auto rocket launcher dual wielding troll. I expected more min maxing and having to rely on others for things outside your specialization but it seems things will work pretty fine without that. You all seem to have decent dice pools for combat situations and other things so as long as no one pulls a Leroy Jenkins it should be fine.

On that note I don't even know where to begin classifying people...so I'm going to stop.

Considering changing my echo E-sensing to sprite link tutor.

Edit: Decided not too as I've been going over the rules a bit and hadn't realized exactly how AR / VR worked.  The normal game mechanics didn't fit well with my character concept however with the meshed reality echo it makes it work like I viewed the characters worldview. So I got rid of overclocking and E-sensing and got multiprocessing and meshed reality. With this echo it makes it so the electronic world and the physical world are one and the same to him.

I will probably keep tweaking the character until the game starts as I'm bored :)

Quick GM question: can I buy pirated programs at character gen?  Would free up bucket loads of cash!

I am assuming that AIs don't get +2D for VR actions as all their actions are VR...why they are worse than meat hackers in this respect I think is probably a game thing rather than a fluff one but ah well, swings and roundabouts, rather like the mystery of not understanding the resonance?!?!  :o  ...and not getting any benefits from commlink optimization, Customized Interface, Simsense Accelerator, and Response Enchancer

Sorry, end of mini rant  ;D

I will be slinging about 16 dice hitting a base 14DV twice in each of my 4 IPs, or else slinging more in the range of 8 or 10 dice per attack but making 4 per IP. Pretty solid. Combine it with massive base attributes for physical combat (I dumpstatted Strength and still have a 5, 9 reaction, 10 agility) and being a Technomancer (lots of great little perks like initiative boosts, free hacking actions and Sprites to boost the effectiveness of my weapons and gear) I'll be able to hold my own.

I will be a half-decent sneaky bastard as my secondary focus, with my primary being Face and conning. I was debating taking that Paragon that gives me a boost to Initiative, since with Mesh Reality I use matrix initiative in meatspace....
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Mirikon on <04-19-12/1311:53>
Aria, actually AIs do get the bonus for VR actions, since it never says anywhere that they don't, AFAIK. And while they may not be able use some of the hardware mods, they have the benefit of having matrix attributes that most hackers could only dream of in their home node.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: All4BigGuns on <04-19-12/1317:55>
I'd imagine that if the simsense accelerator and response enhancers were installed on the hardware that is their home node, that they'd be able to get the benefits of them.
Title: Re: [Recruitment Thread] The Dragonslayer
Post by: Aria on <04-19-12/1511:44>
Well in Shrike's case her home node is a drone so that she gets some combat ability from that response boost.  I'm sorely tempted with this game to get an Otomo drone and make it her home node but I'm not convinced the 150,000 is worth it!  Body will be higher but that's about all it has over the 11,000 version I've already created.

Dropping some edge and a few other bits and pieces I've got some more cash...just need a ruling on the pirated programs and I'll be good to go and tinker some more :)

And heh, +2 to actions for being VR will put me back on a par with a meat hacker so that makes me happy  :D

Lethe hit it on the head. Took me 4 hours and I couldn't do it consecutively so I often double checked unwillingly. Anyways I think I should start an IC and OOC thread for this now since you guys seem to be all done.

Oh and sorry for the time it took there. I recently had issues with an AGOT player who wanted to be a full on lord of the north at level 1...yeah he went there.

Not sure if I should ask you to post characters in the OOC thread up top or not. Don't really know if that would help any to be honest. Of course it's optional if you don't want people seeing everything about your character. As long as I have a copy in ready access it's all good. To the IC/OOC Thread!

I think its a good idea, if only to get an overview of who is playing whom. A description of appearance and personality should it be at least, and most of us have posted their character already anyway. Maybe have a list with link to the character/descriptions in the first OOC post.
