>>Can't you hear it? There is a tune floating on the breeze. It creeps down the lonely alleyways and fills the darkness with its solemn song. The humming of the dead intertwines with the rhythm of life. The story of this world is sung in such a clear and mournful sound. It sings of those whose names are now forgotten. It sings of those whose dreams were swallowed by time.
>>It sings of those who run in the wake of the shadows.

The Shadow Sessions

The Shadow Sessions is my first foray into the world of GM'ing, and the best way for me to learn is to jump right in. Here, I will exercise my imagination as well as lead a game for those who wish to play. The story is inspired by some of my favorite shows (Cowboy Bebop and Leverage, to name a few) and will be done in episodic format. I wish to make this game very roleplay-oriented, so I would like players who can commit to developing their character through the story. This game is mainly for newer players who wish to join a new GM and start playing as well, but I also welcome the wisdom of more experienced players.

The OOC thread will be used for recruitment, dice rolls, FAQs, and notices.

Synopsis
This is the story of lost souls wandering the streets of Seattle 2075. They are connected by a string that none of them can see now, but fate will reveal them in due time. But for now, they are strangers to each other and maybe even themselves. Soon, they will receive a call, gathering them in a single place where not only will they be tested, but their futures will be determined.

IC Formatting

I will tell you either in OOC or at the GM IC post what tests you need to roll for. Please roll first, then write your post based on your successes/failures. We will be using the Invisible Castle dice roller for accountability. All dice rolls will be posted here in the OOC thread, not in the IC thread.

For combat, I will respond to each of you one at a time depending on the action you take. You may detail free actions in the same post as your simple/complex actions.

I'd like to throw an application your way.

I'll see what I can come up with, not sure what concept to use as there are a lot to try out!

I've got a concept I've been mulling over for a while. Here's a quick overview of the background

Dacre Jordan - Human Adept Cat Burglar / Secondary Con Artist

Dacre grew up as a guttersnipe roaming the streets of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. As far back as he could remember he’d never had any family or even anyone he could really call a friend. Over the years as he grew up he noticed he seemed to have some innate advantages over the other urchins he didn’t understand. His advantages allowed him to go for more and more risky targets to steal from, until one day he screws up and gets caught. Luckily for him it turns out the nob that caught him was actually a thief working a long con. Impressed by how well he managed to sneak into their base the head honcho recruits him onto the crew and starts teaching him how to talk and act like a corporate man.

A few more years pass as he works for the crew, Dacre’s skills advancing rapidly. For one particular heist the crew hires a mage, he quickly notices that Dacre is actually an adept and has managed to unconsciously access some of this powers. Realising that his adept powers were where his advantages over the other street urchins came from Dacre joins a local adept circle? to learn to better harness his powers. With his increased skill set he starts doing some side jobs outside the con crew, working as a part time shadow runner.

One day a big con against Troliod (an A ranked corp) goes wrong and half the crew is killed in the ensuing firefight. Dacre manages to get away but has to flee the city, leaving behind everything except what he has on his back. On the way out he does manage to stop by his local fixer and get a recommendation to a fixer in Seattle. Making it to Seattle a few weeks later he spends a few nights at a friends place before finding a cramped little apartment of his own. He also manages to make contact with a local branch of the adept circle he trained with back in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Adept Mentor (Loyalty 3, Connection 3) - Sort of a calm guru type. Runs a semi-gray circle, some members hold valid sins while others don't. They stay away from any association with shadow running or corp sponsorship to try and stay as a neutral group.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, too.  Got a couple character concepts that I'd like to try. . . for this one, I was thinking my combat medic.  Basically a combination street doc & weapon specialist.

Seattle! I'm definitely down for Seattle.

Character Concept: Ivan Ivanovich, one-time boxer and Vory enforcer. Now on the lam having managed to make himself persona non grata with no less than two different factions within the Seattle Vory. Being able to punch things really, really hard has always been a valued asset and Ivan figures it's only a matter of time before he finds work, assuming he can stay alive that long.

CONTACTS & REP (Three Free @ 6 combined C/L)
The Matryoshka, Variable Race Female Fixers (4/1): A somewhat mysterious cabal of fixers, the Matryoshka are five female metahumans, one representing each of the major metahuman races. The women have undergone cosmetic surgery to appear as similar to one another as possible and dress in the exact same Neo-Russian peasant garb. Only one of the Matryoshka ever shows up for any given meet, but they seem to share their dealings with one another as one knows what the others know. They deal extensively with the Vory but also fix jobs for a variety of private individuals and corporations.

Jessica Hernandez, Female Elf Prostitute (2/3): Jessica is an elf prostitute working the Touristville section of the Redmond Barrens. Ivan is a regular client of hers. They have developed a good business relationship and Jessica is willing to take a few changes to keep the nuyen flowing. She realizes his present circumstances prevent their regular business transactions, but knows that when he gets back on his feet, she'll be off hers.

Bruno Veraducci, Male Ork Boxing Promoter (3/2): Bruno was one of the first non-Vory acquaintances Ivan made in Seattle. Naturally, their association started through boxing. Bruno owns a small boxing gym in Puyallup and manages a small stable of fighters. During Ivan's down time, he would frequently visit Bruno's to spar and chat about the great gloves of the past.

Description: Here comes trouble with a capital Troll. Maybe it’s the somewhat cheap-looking dark suit combined with his lumbering gait, but something about the guy gives you the distinct impression that he is not Corp. Come to think about it, you’ve never seen a wageslave with intricately carved, forward swept horns depicting scenes from boxing history. Is that Mohammad Ali on the right horn? Like many trolls, he seems to have gone for the shaved head look, probably to emphasize his horns. The mirrored sunglasses he wears complete the look of someone you’d rather not frag with.

Personality: Not much of one, Knockout is typically a “Punch First, Ask Questions Later” kind of guy. His time with the Vory did teach him a few societal conventions, but you definitely don’t want him leading negotiations (unless the point is to start a fight). Knockout’s a bit more reserved since his dust-up with the Vory; finally realizing that his actions can have greater consequences outside of the current situation. He is rather talkative about the sport of boxing and, if it ever comes up, starts chattering like a schoolgirl gossiping to her friends.

Background: Ivan Ivanovich was born in the dirty streets of Vladivostock, Russia. His mother and father abandoned him on the steps of an Eastern Orthodox orphanage. Fairly violent as a child, Ivan was routinely disciplined by the nuns. When he goblinized at 9 years old, the frequency and severity of the fights Ivan was involved in grew significantly. The nuns realized that they would be unable to discipline him given his change and turned him over to a local boxing instructor, Dmitry Koranavich, in hopes he would be able to better direct Ivan’s violent behavior into something slightly more constructive.

Dmitry quickly spotted Ivan’s natural talent and started to train him while the troll lived and worked in the boxing gym. The troll quickly gained a reputation for quick knockouts and was entered into contests as soon as he was of age, dubbing him Ursa Minor. During this time, Dmitry recognized that part of Ivan’s skill was due to the fact that he was an Awakened adept and explained what that meant to the troll. The next several years of Ivan’s life were the highlights in an otherwise bleak existence. He won acclaim for his skills in the ring and prize money for his frequent wins. Unfortunately for Ivan, Dmitry had a bit of a dark past himself.

After a prize fight when he was 23 years old, a group of men in dark suits entered his dressing room to speak to Dmitry. Ivan had occasionally seen some of the men hanging around the gym and had been told that they were members of the Vory, a Russian organized crime group. Telling the old man that it was time he paid his debt, the men gave Dmitry two options: he could pay with his life or with Ivan’s. Shaking his head sadly, he gave Ivan to them as payment. Shocked at the situation, Ivan was taken by complete surprise when one of the men stabbed him with a syringe filled with a double dose of Narcoject.

When Ivan next woke up, he was in Seattle, UCAS. His new masters quickly laid out their expectations: Ivan was to become a Vory enforcer and engage in the myriad illicit activities in which they were involved. Given his inability to speak English and lack of familiarity with the area, Ivan acquiesced to their demands and started his new life. The Vory supplied him with a fake identity as a bodyguard and living quarters. In return, Ivan served as the muscle on a number of Vory operations, breaking doors and legs with equal regularity. Ivan was not necessarily proud of his new life, but it allowed him to make ends meet and live a relatively comfortable lifestyle; at least he wasn’t living on the streets.

Everything came crashing down two years later. Infighting among the local Vory turned into an all-out civil war and sides were chosen. Ivan wasn’t much for taking sides and asked to be left out of the internal conflict, pledging that he would work for whoever won. This wasn’t an acceptable answer for either side and Ivan became a marked target. Fighting off attacks from both sides, Ivan did an impressive amount of damage to both groups before fading into the shadows as best he could. With little money, poor language skills, and an undeserved bad reputation as a turncoat, Ivan is desperate for work and has gone to the only contact he has left, the mysterious cabal of fixers known as the Matryoshka.[/Spoiler]

I was going to see if I made it before I added them. Also, can you explain how that works? Sorry, I'm a little dense sometimes. ;) Does it mean that I can take three free contacts with a total of 6 C/L points each or total?

P.S. I really dig those TM changes. I was considering modifying my TM with them and submitting.

Your Matryoshka contact should cost you 5 karma, not 2
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC] {RECRUITMENT OPEN}
Post by: JackVII on <09-22-13/1544:42>
Wait, does this replace the points from Charisma? I spent those three points (his CHA was originally at 1, bumped to 2 with karma, which I didn't spell out) on the Matryoshka contact and then pumped it up with two karma. Then I picked up the other three contacts. I'll edit for clarity. If the free contacts replace the Charisma bonus points, I can change things around as well.

ETA: I can also change the Matryoshka contact. I conceived of it and figured I would use it in one of my own games. Basically, it's a network of 5 female fixers (dwarf, human, elf, ork, troll) who have had cosmetic surgery to look the same. They also dress the same in a sort of neo-Russian peasant garb. A player's connection rating with one of the Matryoshka is the same for all of them and they are treated as one contact for all intents and purposes. (Basically, they are based on the Russian Matryoshka Dolls). I can gladly change the contact if you don't want to play with them.

So here's what I came up with (Jack, I stole your formatting.  Hope you don't mind!).  Owen Night Owl, aka Cross, was a Doc Wagon High Threat Response extraction team member.  He was on call one night when his team responded to a Gold-level distress signal, and pulled a beautiful elven shadowrunner out of a tight spot with a corporate security team.  Despite company policy, they got into a relationship. . . until she disappeared during a run.  No matter the cost, Cross is now determined to find her. . . or at least what's left of her.

DESCRIPTION: Some people can walk down the street, minding their own business, yet scream "dangerous."  Owen is one of those guys.  He is powerfully built (for a human), but still slender; words like "sleek" and "predatory" come to mind.  He's got close-cropped brown hair and a dusky complexion -- you've seen enough AmerInds walking Seattle's streets to recognize one -- and he's loaded for bear.  A black leather-fronted jacket does little to conceal the tactical vest he's wearing that's loaded with guns, knives, spare magazines, and grenades.  All this combined with the hard set of his jaw and the near-desperate looking in his (artfully lifelike-looking) eyes means that he sets that standard for "not to be fragged with."  Incongruously, there's a heavy pouch strapped to his thigh marked with a big red cross...

HISTORY: Owen is a native of Buffalo, New York, and a descendant of the original Mohawk Tribe.  That the Mohawk -- as well as all the other East Coast tribes, for that matter -- didn't get the same deal as the Sioux, Apache, and Pueblo never sat right with the family.  Rather than take it out on the other tribes or the UCAS, they decided to go where the tribes and UCAS society merged: Seattle.

Owen was always an altruistic sort, and trained as an EMT through an "on the job training" program with Doc Wagon.  A few years of medical school and some serious time with the security training team got him a spot on the high-risk, high-reward High Threat Response teams.

One day, responding to a biomonitor-induced emergency call, Owen and his team fast-roped into a warzone.  A runner team was getting the drek kicked out of it by some faceless corp goon-squad.  The only two runners still alive were Vic Macintosh and a fire-haired elven beauty named Faye Cordell (Faye, their extractee, was unconscious and bleeding out at the time).  Seeing that the dwarf was doomed without help, Owen went against policy (and orders!) and pulled both Faye and Vic into the company helicopter.  He then set about saving Faye's life, patching her up and stabilizing her before she could expire.

To put it simply, he was enraptured with her.  When she had recovered, she'd initially agreed to go out with him as a gesture of thanks for saving her life, but as the relationship continued, the feelings appeared to become mutual.  He still worked HRT and she still ran the shadows, but things were going wonderfully. . . until she disappeared without a trace during a run.  Victor had since retired and bought a bar with his life savings, but the two of them proceeded to spend almost every spare nuyen available trying to find Faye, with no luck.  Growing desperate, Owen quit Doc Wagon and, with Vic's help, set himself up as a shadowrunner.  If he couldn't find Faye from the outside looking in, he decided to just dive into the deepest shadows he could find and look a little closer.

@Jack
Yeah, it replaces the CHA rule. I made it clearer up in the OP. Also, I would be totally okay with playing a group of people acting as a single contact. That should lead to some interesting bits of dialogue. Make sure you note how many points you put into each attribute so that I can double check your sheet.

@Red_Cap
Make sure you note how many points you put into each attribute so that I can double check your sheet. Also, we will be rolling for starting nuyen when I have chosen the players. I won't ask you to reroll, but do be aware that I am going to use Invisible Castle to keep track of the dice rolls. Funnily enough, I'm actually training to be an EMT right now. :P

@Everyone else
So far, I'm glad with the reception that this is getting. I will note that it would be nice if someone decided to play a character that is versed in the ways of the Matrix to balance the characters I see right now.

An edit will be made, then.  Too easy.  Also, I didn't roll my nuyen yet.  I just had 5k left over from gear.

Alright, cool. I'll be holding recruitment for about a day or two to see if we can get enough people to join.

Post by: JackVII on <09-22-13/2142:40>
Great, thanks! I updated with contacts and attribute point outlay. Barring anything further, it should be the final version of the character.

P.S. If push comes to shove and we don't have a matrix person, I've got a Decker and a TM I could submit instead.

Nah, don't worry too much. If we do end up not having a decker, then that's fine. I'll be able to adapt. :D

Johnny is an elven Sioux with a penchant for getting himself into trouble to find things out.  Fortunately, he's also got a couple powerful friends to help him out.  Speculation abounds among those who know him that his departure from the Sioux Nation was either due to his love of country music, his love of dressing like a cowboy, his horrendous luck or some strange combination of all three.  His spirits manifest as a bizarre mix of their element, and something from an old country video with a bit of snake tossed in, with the exception of his Spirits of Man, who bear a striking resemblance to the Man With No Name of Clint Eastwood fame.  He doesn't talk about his family, except to swear profusely about them in Sioux.

His fixer, and sometime teacher, Solomon Soaring-Hawk is sometimes amazed at how easy dealing with his student is.  He's gotten him to vastly expand his spell repertoire rather easily, by hiding the formulae in random places.  Solomon is a Salish Coyote shaman, who probably finds his student hilarious.  And just might call up Johnny's family with progress reports on his magical tutelage.

Briar Rose, a fairly well-connected talismonger is Johnny's regular connection for supplies, and is entirely sure that Johnny wants to sleep with her.  Which he does, but that's not the reason he prefers to deal with her.  She has good wares at a usually decent price, and sometimes she'll accept services or barter.

Seymour is.....Seymour.  A conspiracy theorist extraordinaire with a scary amount of information at his fingertips about his latest paranoid ramblings.  Great guy, when you can get him out of his mother's house and bathed, so long as he keeps his mouth shut around women.  Poor soul can barely form words arounf attractive women.

Since you said you still needed a Matrix-based character, I'd like to submit my decker, Pepperface. Short version is he's a college-educated decker who used to build bombs for neo-anarchist and eco-terrorist groups before becoming a shadowrunner.

CONTACTS

Male Human Fixer: Good Friend Charlie- Connection 3, Loyalty 3- A fixer with neo-anarchist ties who recognized the potential in Pepperface, Pepperface credits Charlie with introducing him to the world of shadowrunner. Not the most powerful or well-connected fixer in Seattle, but Pepperface and Good Friend Charlie have a long working relationship. And it's nice to be treated like a premier client.

Femle Human Smuggler: Janet Walker- Connection 4, Loyalty 2- A fellow former neo-anarchist, although Janet Walker refuses to admit she's given up the cause. Now an extremely successful drug runner, weapon smuggler, and general ne'er-do-well par excellence, Janet Walker and Pepperface have a lot in common. Walker enjoys working for neo-anarchist and eco-terrorist groups the most, but she'll move product for anyone that pays.

Male Dwarf Academic: Professor Feodor Belyakova- Connection 2, Loyalty 4- A professor from Pepperface's college days that he managed to keep in touch with. The professor has his suspicions of what Pepperface is doing for a living, but they do not discuss it openly. Instead, the two mainly "talk shop." Professor Belyakova is a brilliant computer scientist, and Pepperface respects his opinion on matters concerning the Matrix and computer hardware.

Description Rail thin and pale, with wispy russet brown hair. Besides a receding hairline and dark, sleepless circles under his eyes, the guy could be considered handsome. He appears to be in his late 30s, and is usually wearing a rumpled black Actioneer business suit. Onlookers get the impression that both the suit and the guy wearing it have seen better days. He has a predilection for clove cigarettes, and a musty, perfume-like odor hangs around him.

In VR, Pepperface often picks an inconspicuous icon, especially when on a run. When relaxing in some well-protected, shadowy corner of the 'Trix, however, he sometimes adopts his custom-coded icon, an unnerving image of a humanoid figure with stretched out, unearthly thin limbs. The face of his icon is a blurred mess of pixels, and the icon carries an ever-smoking ARO cigarette in either hand. This is the true ‘Pepperface’, and it’s the image he will present in the Matrix when trying to impress a Johnson or otherwise groom his online runner presence.

Background: Edwin Kinnison was born to noveau riche parents. Successful entrepreneurs that sold their start-up to Horizon, young Edwin had every advantage in life. Though technically employees of Horizon (and saddled with a Corporate Limited SIN), Edwin and his parents were well-off and relatively independent.

Expecting great things from young Edwin, his parents had his cerebral boosters installed at an early age. Preternaturally brilliant, Edwin had his choice of colleges, and decided to go with an independent university instead of his “Horizon-approved” and Horizon-funded choices.

Edwin was exposed to new ideas in college, and soon became wrapped up in the neo-anarchist movement. He even became involved with an eco-terrorist group. His runner alias actually comes from this period of his life; during a student protest he mouthed off to a Lone Star officer and took a blast of pepperpunch to the face. The nickname stuck.

Edwin had a falling out with his parents, dropped out of college, and moved to Seattle to contribute to a neo-anarchist cell. This is where he learned his bomb-making abilities. Pepperface became disillusioned with the movement when a bomb he was preparing blew up prematurely, maiming him. The last of his parent’s wealth was spent getting a convincing prosthetic cyberarm.

That incident was five years ago. Edwin has a deep mistrust of corporations and the Grid Overwatch Division, but he no longer has the passion and zeal he did when he was an active part of the neo-anarchist movement. He’s now a bitter old shadowrunner, only in it for himself and to maybe take a jab at the corps when the opportunity presents itself.[/spoiler]

Hi, im not familiar with the 5e rules but i would like to play with this concept:

FlashGiTz!
Real Name: Aeohion Weretheil
Metatype: Elf
Sex: Male
Awakened: Adept

Concept: Half Face and Half Smugler, you need to get there fast? and pass the border be it by speed or charm he is your man.

Background: Tir Tairngire as any country has its slums... Its barrens, in a country of elves where beauty its held as one of the most important things things like those are denied, and actively hidden from public knowledge, in one of those hell holes was where a Aeohion was borne, surviving the go gangers Ancients, the ocassionall law enforcement or "cleansing units" and desiring to get as farther away as he could, to scape from the pit he had been borne... And then he awakened, he was about to get killed, excecution style by a go ganger, and he begged for his life, just like he did countless times before, and for imposible as it could seem his executor decided to take him under his wing, he spent years of abuse under the ancients gang, but he learned, how to drive and when he was good enought he scaped, barely!

His life hasn't improved on the emotional side since he left escaped the ancient, wich hasn't improved his trust, he trust not even his shadow, but has been making a living by being the kind of cool guy who is in the fashion trends, stylish but more importantly fast, he has saved money into the only two things he cares, his image and his vehicles, anything else is secondary, working as face for his services and getting any job with good pay and that requires moving something or somone from point a to point b fast and efficient.

I can do the character with the SR4 Edition but i don't own the 5e Manuals, aniway if you are interested i will be reading the forum waiting for your answer se you later chummers! Also the spaces of family and Ancient periods are open for you to fill in if you wish

Edit: Also my native language is not english, so if do not write it well i apologize.

Alright, so it seems we've got a motley gathering of strangers, so it's a good time to begin to kick it off. I will keep recruitment open for one last day as I get the IC and character stuff ready. So far, we have six characters (interestingly enough it's rather magically inclined). I will post the status of these characters down below. Finalized choices will be updated in the OP.

Nemo157: Dacre Jordan - Human Cat Burglar [PENDING]
JackVII : Knockout - Troll Boxer [PENDING]
Red_Cap: Cross - Human Combat Medic [PENDING]
Silence: Johnny - Elven Cowboy [PENDING]
Bewilderbeast: Pepperface - Human Anarchist [PENDING]
WrongConcept: FlashGiTz - Elven Smuggler [MISSING SHEET]

For IC things, I will also be fleshing out some of the vaguer/missing aspects of your character's backgrounds. Because you guys are strangers, I will be PM-ing the complete backgrounds to each of you individually.

Hey, totally new to Shadowrun and tabletops in general but I'm thinking PbP might be good way to get that first taste.  I realize that my guy overlaps quite a lot with Jack's Boxer but I wanted to throw him out there anyway, worst thing that happens is that he gets rejected.

Concept: Troll BasherAdept
Daisy is a barrens kid who got into Norse mythology when he was young and has built his personalized adept 'tradition' from it.  Granted, he didn't have great source material so his views differ a bit from what might be accepted facts in Scandinavia for example.  As a troll he got started in the splatterer (like a bouncer but as a troll) line of work fairly easily but a string of really fucked up accidents (that last fire was totally not his fault) meant he kept getting fired and he now has a stigma as an accident waiting to happen.  Fortunately he had made some contacts during his days working at a local runners hangout, one of which, a former runner turned fixer, got him started in the shadowrunning biz.

Rhino, Ork Fixer (3/3): Actually the guy that gave Daisy his nickname when he started, as an 18 y/o, working a bar Rhino frequented.  Daisy didn't make an issue of it because Rhino seemed scary.  Like, a lot scary.  Turns out he was a decent enough sort, one of the few who didn't turn their backs on Daisy when he started getting his crappy rep as a walking disaster.

Quinten Ross, Dwarf Talismonger/Artificer (4/1): An independent Touristville talismonger that Daisy got his Qi focus from.  Daisy has spent quite some time discussing the nature of magic with Quinten and has shared his desire to craft a weapon focus from his battle axe which he wants Quinten to enchant for him if possible.

Reggie Evans, Human owner of a Martial Arts Dojo (2/4): Daisy started working out at Reggie's dojo when he first figured out that he had more abilities than the normal barrens thug.  Reggie taught Daisy both armed and unarmed fighting and they struck up quite a friendship in the process.

Description: First thing you'll notice about Daisy is that he is TINY, for a troll that is.  standing only 2.34m (~7'5") and fairly slender he does not cut an imposing figure, for a troll that is.  Daisy is dark skinned with modest, back-lying horns.  He has quite a lot of tattoos on his arms and torso.

Personality: Daisy is a fairly awkward guy.  He is a bit nervous about his slight frame and has some social confidence issues as a result.  He is shy and reserved to strangers but really opens up once he gets to know you.  Due to his size he never got into that troll intimidation brute mindset, he is really a happy little live and let live type in his day to day interactions.
Daisy has a real thirst for knowledge but coming from the slums limited him as he was growing up.  His main interests are Norse myths, martial arts and magical theory.  Due to his mentor spirit he is also quite into eco-activism without being a radical or anything.

Background: "You're fresh as a frakking daisy, you are!" - Rhino upon first meeting Joe Miller.
As a young kid Daisy got his hands on an old pre-trid video about the norse god of thunder and he was hooked.  He especially connected to the character of Heimdallur.  Unfortunately he didn't have much luck finding more material about these flawed gods but in a WTF moment one of the things he did find were a couple of the Goðheimar comics (these (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla_%28comics%29) but in icelandic).  But he kept at it and slowly found some more information.  Then when his adept powers started emerging he found it quite natural to try and relate that to these myths, this in turn led him to his mentor spirit Heimdallur.  Later on Daisy found that quite a lot of his assumptions were apparently 'wrong' but he decided not to bother himself with that as he was quite comfortable with his own makeshift adept tradition.
Shortly after awakening Daisy started to frequent the local talismonger shops trying to find someone willing to help him figure this thing out, most just kicked him out with threats of violence.  One dwarf though seemed more amused than annoyed by this awkward troll and his funny ideas and although he didn't become a mentor or anything such he tolerated the troll and was willing to teach him some stuff about how magic actually worked.  It was in Quinten's shop that Daisy got his first peek into the astral realm, doing so in a talismonger shop was frankly a bit overwhelming.  After Quinten had explained to Daisy how he might expand his physical talents with his adept powers Daisy figured that he should funnel that into something like martial arts.  He wasn't going to become any kind of gymnast anytime soon no matter how small a troll he was and his awkwardness prevented him even considering if his skills would lean towards 'face' talents.  That was how Daisy met Reggie who taught him most of what he knows about handling himself in a fight and is one of the few people Daisy would consider a close friend.
Even though a few gangs tried recruiting Daisy he didn't fancy becoming a meat shield for those dreks, lucky for him they didn't make an issue of it.  But he needed a way to bring in some nuyen and at 16 (and lying about his age) he started working as a bouncer and did so for the next few years at several different bars and clubs in the Redmond area.  But a fire, an explosion and a few broken walls later he had accumulated a rep as walking disaster and few bars would even consider hiring him.  Daisy decided to reach out to Rhino and ask him if he had any contacts that could get him a job of some sort.  Well, Rhino did one better, offering Daisy a chance to run the shadows.  After having the high risk/high reward nature of shadowrunning better explained to him Daisy decided that Running would be a very 'viking' thing to do and took Rhino up on his offer.  For the last year Daisy has been doing various runs, mostly acting as the front line muscle when such is called upon, and doing quite well.  His bad luck hasn't caught up with him, yet.

Hi everyone. I'll give a shot at a spot in the team with a bioware enhanced human gunman. He's an old character I tried to update to 5th Edition.

Concept: Four months since waking up in this street clinic, The Frenchman still doesn't remember much of his past. But he has found a life he's striving in. One of risk, vices, and high stake adventures. How he got those expensive enhancements he doesn't know but his aptitudes with a gun are exceptional and he has managed to put it to good use, landing a few runs that paid him enough to enhance his lifestyle to a more natural state. The Frenchman turned out to be a socialite who like women, drinks, and the occasional recreational drug and chip. And he has abused of all since his rebirth. But he knows why. Though many like to forget, all he wants is to remember; but he is afraid, afraid of who he was. He knows he has the skills of a cold-blooded killer. Maybe the ones who left him dead had a good reason.

[spoiler="Story & Background (a bit long, sorry)"]
Runner Name: The Frenchman
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Metatype: Human

He suddenly stood up on his bed, pulling with him the tubes that connected his nose and left arm to various cannisters and machineries. His artificial grayish green eyes opened up wide and he let go a scream, a mix of fear, pain, and surprise. Though of usually light complexion, he was paler than normal, his mid-length dark brown hair wet with sweat from a fever and terrifying nightmares. His toned and defined shirtless body was only covered with bandages running across his chest.
- "NON!" he screamed
- "Easy Pal, easy. Welcome to the world of the living." Said another man, in a deep comforting voice.
He felt a pair of strong hands on his shoulders, carefully pushing him back onto the bed; the humid cover perfectly cushioning his frame, sign he had been there for a while already.
His cybereyes could have focused instantly but he didn't thing about turning on any system and he could only distinguish the features of the deep voiced man. A dark form appeared before him, and something set upon his noise and mouth, perfectly fitting.
- "Here, you need some more rest, you'll soon be back to shape." Said the other man.
A few breaths in and consciousness escaped him. Everything went black, again.

***

He slowly opened his eyes and they auto-focused. The ceiling's light was dimmed down, and he could hear a regular beeping on top of the soft buzz of machineries. He heard a door opening and turned his head toward the extra light that appeared in his field of vision and saw an imposing shadow but unable to distinguish the man's features.
- "Well, well, well. Our Frenchman is awake."
- "Ou suis-je? He said in a rather weak voice."
- "Oh Boy! Recognizing French doesn't mean I can speak it Frenchman. Do you speak any English?"
- "Je crois... I mean, I guess, I understood you.... where am I?"
- "Welcome to Dr. Henry's private clinical facilities, Frenchman. The man said joyfully as he approached close to the bed. I'm Dr. Henry"
This time he could finally see that Dr. Henry. A bulky black man with a more prominent belly. He wasn't really dressed like what he would expect from a doctor but after all the place didn't look much like a regular hospital room either.
- "What happened? ... what am I doing here? and why you keep calling me Frenchman?"
- "Whao, that's a lot, let's start with the easy part. Frenchman is because I don't know your name, and you kept mumbling in what I recognize as being French during your time asleep, which has been quite a while now... so what's your name?"
- "I am.... I ... I don't know... " He seemed concerned and looked at the doctor with a very worried look.
- "The trauma may have cause a temporary amnesia, it should come back with time."
- "Trauma?"
- "Nasty wound, you barely made it alive, you know." Dr. Henry said pointing at the bandages on the Frenchman's chest.
"The bullet was about two millimeters away from your heart, and you lost a lot of blood. Without that treated skin you've got you'd be dead for sure! A friend of mine found you on a backstreet a few blocks from here."
- "Here. Where is here? Where am I?"
- "No memories at all? "
- "It's all black... the only picture in my head is this room. And..."
- "And?"
- "I'm not sure... surgery room... lighter than here... it's more like feelings... struggle, fear..."
- "Well from what my scan showed me you were under the knife more than once, light cyber, most notably your jack and a datalock I noticed, and some fancy pair of eyes, maybe some bioware enhancements too other than that Orthoskin. Your subconscious may just be remembering those evens...You've been out for two weeks now. You need to take it slowly, stress won't help you here. As for your question, here is my own little private clinic. So don't worry, don't know what got you here, but cops ain't coming to ask unwanted question. Here is Seattle."
The Doctor was telling the truth, he could smell it. Olfactory Booster certainly. The same two questions kept pounding in his head. Who was he? What had happened?

***

The Frenchman looked at his reflection in the mirror. His beard had grown thick for his time spent in Dr. Henry's clinic. His skin had regain some color. The wound on his chest had almost closed up now; pretty quickly according to the Doc. He ran a finger over it; just as his life could have ended, he felt like being born again. It had been almost a month now since he got shot and still no memory of his life before that. It was scary. He took a deep breath, still looking at himself, his arms holding and supporting him on each side of the sink. He stood there, silently, his mind trying to make sense of the blackness inside.
Yet he was healed now, at least physically, and the doctor had given the green light to get out. He owed Dr. Henry a lot. Not only for keeping him alive, but for the time he had spent in his clinic. And he had nothing to pay him back... his only possession a key card, that looked like a locker keypass. No clue to where the locker was either...
That could however be the only clue he may get from his life before getting shot, he had to find it. The report the doc gave him of the cyber and bioware modifications his body had sustained was scarying him. Some would allow him to be a good courier, like the datajack and lock, enhanced muscles, or synaptic boosters. But the extand of some modifications and wares just didn't make sense, for this job at least... thinking of it, some would be great additions for job like... assassination?
He watched his reflection, he wasn't sure he liked what he saw or what he could see rather.
- "I brought you some street clothes." Dr. Henry said as he interrupted the silence, entering the small room.
The Frenchman wasn't surprised though, he knew the doc was coming. He had smelled him...

- "Thanks. For everything, I owe you a lot. I wish I could pay you back."
- "Don't worry about the money. I'm sure with all the skills you have I'll find some useful favor to ask you one day. Plus just refer me to your kind when they'll need some care or surgeries."
- "My kind? what do you mean?"
- "You got no SIN, Frenchman. Yet you're superfit with enhancements that'd make some sammies envious. There's no doubt, you belong to the shadows. And if you didn't before, well maybe it's time for you to consider."
The Frenchman stayed silent, still deep in his though, then spoke up.
- "Well, how about I keep that in mind, for now I need to know more about myself, I'll look for that locker, it may contain information about me."
- "Sure thing Friend, just keep in touch..."

***

There it was. Locker 2632, King Street Station. His still bearded face partly hidden under the hood of the sweater he was wearing, the Frenchman could feel his heart beat accelerate. It only took him a couple days to find the location of the locker and he found out that he had his way with people. Even wearing old street clothes. Somehow he felt he'd rather be wearing a suit or something much more fancy than the very casual attire he was now wearing. Was that because that's what he used to always wear? or because he never could wear it and spend his life envious of those who were? Memories would disappear, habits wouldn't, good and bad.
There he was in front of the locker. With both hands inside the pockets of his hoodie, he was fondling with the keycard inside his left pocket. People were walking around him, living their own lives. Commuting, traveling, escaping, nobody was really paying him any attention. He swiped the key through the old lock and the small door opened. The space was only filled with a shoebox. Should he open it now? what if the content was just too overwhelming? or what if no one should see what's inside? The Frenchman grabbed the box and left the station.
Less than five minutes later passed a back alley, he stopped, a gun pointed at his face. And somehow, he wasn't afraid, not even worried. He had smelled the two others circling him from behind already. Punks. That's all they were. And he wasn't worried because he knew exactly what to do.
- "Give me your 'link, and that box!" Shouted the punk with the gun. A young ork, his leather jacket carrying the emblem of a gang he didn't know or remembered.
Muscle memory took over consciousness. His right foot pumped a strong kick in the kid's knee as his left hand, still carrying the shoebox slammed the light pistol to take it out of alignment with his face. Without waiting for the ork to fall or react he bashed at his target, sending a strong punch in the ribs followed immediately by a side hook on the ork's left temple. His assailant was out before he could even realize he'd been attacked. Yet the Frenchman, didn't stop. He used the momentum of his side punch to rotate toward the two behind him. They were humans of native american decent, also wearing a leather jacket but apparently just armed with clubs. They raised their weapon and launched at the French...

Removing the dust off the shoebox, the Frenchman gave a last look at the punks that tried to mug him. Two were out while the other was rolling on the ground with barely enough strength and breath left to cry out his pain. It was more a like mumble. It had been an easy fight, it shouldn't have been. His fighting skills were way above average, not only he just proved it, but somehow he also knew it, even before the fight had started. Memories and knowledge, quite different.
He hushed his way back to the coffin he had been renting for the week.

He needed to take a deep breath before opening the box. Not sure what he would find in it, maybe answers, maybe disappointment. He popped the lid open. A pistol in it's holster, some ammos, a credstick and commlink. And most interestingly, an ID. Which he picked up first. It looked pretty real, his picture displayed along some data lines and electronics chips for more information. But more importantly a name: Remy LeBeau.
He stared at it for some time, whether real or not he had a name. He glanced at the other items. He grabbed the gun. And muscle memory and coordination kicked in, along the with the smartlink. He rolled the gun, charged it, pointed it, rolled it back like he had done that all his life. He knew it was just a combination of his enhanced agility, both fine and gross motor skills, but together it was deadly. Who was he? What was he?
He emptied the box on the bed and looked inside hoping for more clues, but none were found. He thought about what Dr. Henry had said. He was but a shadow of himself... a Shadow, maybe that's were he belonged, in that shadowy world of intrigues, action and betrayals. He'll be the Frenchman, Shadowrunner.

Estevez is a Dwarf Armorer who has frequented Dr.Henry's clinic on the occasion. He was impressed with the Frenchman skills with a pistol and with his connection to the shadows was the one who got the amnesic human his first run. The two are slowly establishing a decent business relationship.

Street Doc: Dr. Henry
Connections: 3
Loyalty: 3
The Frenchman owes the good doctor quite a lot as he (apparently) saved his life and helped him get a back to shape. Dr. Henry has a foot in the Shadows and likes to remind the Frenchman of the proper runner's etiquette.

Starting Nuyen: Starting Nuyen (2d6=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4231570/) = 720 + 280 = 1000 Starting Nuyen

Oops, I'm a moron. Here is my additional 1d6 roll since I should have been rolling on the Low table: Additional Starting Nuyen (I'm stupid, LOL) (1d6=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4231923/)

So, all total: 8*60= 480+720 (CharGen remnants) = 1,200 Nuyen

Ah, times. That does make more sense, missed that somehow. Thanks  :).

And actually just remembered I bumped up to a low lifestyle  :-[. Adding in the rest of the starting nuyen roll (1d6=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4231765/) and bumping the multiplier to 60 gives 110 + ((4 + 4 + 6) * 60) = 950.

Alright then, I'm working on getting the IC stuff up. I've gotten some great stuff from the backgrounds I have so far, and they mesh so wonderfully with the "plot" I have in mind. There are so many things I have in store for you runners...so many deliciously wonderful things... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvObIj7MKXY)

Ahem.

Anyways, I still need some things from some you guys before we can begin proper. Others, I politely ask to sit for a bit until I can get things started.

Alright, the first post is up. I am a bit impatient and I want to at least get this part started.

For your very first IC post, I want you to describe what you guys are doing at 11:30 am to get some exposition and introduction to each of your characters. Use this chance to also describe yourself. Get creative.

Also, those who still are missing things need to get them in as soon as possible, whether it's background information, starting nuyen, or something else.

4d6*100+5000=6400

Finally was able to post this! ITS FINISHED ITS FINISHED!

[spoiler=FlashGiTz Background (Warning: it could hurt sensible persons)]Tir Tairngire is the ultimate place of beauty and peace, natural comunance and understanding, a Paradise… That’s what they tell in the trids, that’s what you see on the tourist rides, but even the best metal has impurities, even the most advanced cities has its slums, its barrens, and if you are unlucky enough to be born in such kind of place then you better beg that one of the many stray bullets that gangers, “law enforcement” and other elements kill you. I wasn’t that lucky, i have been always weak, even for elven standards, flash lightning reaction but no endurance whatsoever, my first years mi parents did their best to protect me and i should thank them, but i won’t… They died, when i was six they had accepted a deal in which i would pay for their debts with my body, the ganger was pleased with me specially because i cried and i begged for my parents to help me, he throw me to the ground naked and lifeless or should i say suicidal? I don’t quite remember, just the sound of a click and a loud boom and then again a click and another loud boom. He left me there with the corpses of my fathers, they might as well might have been the corpses of rats, i felt no love for them and i had a deep hatred for myself, i guess i still do… No hero came to my rescue, no force from the beyond, nor a good Samaritan, i don’t remember how much time i was there but the first motivator to move me was hunger, my legs where too weak for me to stand up, but my anger gave me strength i was pathetic i was used, but i was hungry.

Never ever underestimate the power of hunger, I ate the only protein source available for me, strangely enough it was my first time eating meat, I’ve got to say i won’t turn back to “Green” food again, although most of my meals are still soy based i enjoy the real meat from time to time. But that first taste was more a revelation an epiphany it revealed to me what i was, i was a maggot, a worm, and i would be that for the rest of my life, so i eated content with the role i had taken, my first real decision.

My few next years, i had my 8 birthday and a group of gangs decided to gift me with an all-out war, not that i truly remembered my birthday i was after all a worm and worms did not have birthdays. Thing is i was hiding as usual and as usual not a good hiding place when this huge chromed elf enters the place i was hiding, he drew a sword and i wet myself, i instantly started to beg, to cry that i would do whatever he wished, and something clicked inside of me, i look at him and i gave him the look that ive watched on the face of a few Joygirls and boys, my body responded to me with instinct alone… That is the lowest i have ever fell, i don’t think i touched rock solid bottom but i do think it was pretty low i was a slut, thing is the Samurai loved it, he took his pants off and i silently cried till he was finished with me, after that he was out and about to kill some people and told me not to move, i should have… But i did not.

So i survived, and i had sixteen, i was still the toy for the Samurai, i was hit hard when he was over me, when he saw me walk, when he felt me breath, i had many scars over all of my body, he was very sadistic that way, but i was a maggot, it was normal, maggots did what they had to in order to avoid death, also in those eight years something good had happened, Toshiki (The fake name that the samurai used) was a member of the Go Gang the Ancients, and although i was still his property and he made that very clear, because only his “friends” and followers could “use” me, this was not always that bad, some were gentle enough and some were even female which was a bit hard to understand the mechanics, never did i enjoy it, not even to this date, i wonder what’s so good about it? But the point is i was put to help the mechanics and boy o boy it was haven, the roar of an engine was a cry for help to me, but when it purred like a kitty it was a bliss, i wanted to know everything about them so i listened, i watched and i did whatever in my power to learn.

Learning has a cost… In this case it cost me four ribs and two broken arms, he was furious, i was his property i had no right to choose who used me, it was bad, pretty bad, i almost died that day but they had a Street doc and for some reason Toshiki wished me alive, probably because i was already trained. I keep learning whatever i could from cars, motorcycles, trucks, and everything that could move and had an engine, Toshiki got killed in a raid from a rival gang and so i now was the property of Sihadriel an elf woman that now was the head of the Ancients on Tir. A few things changed, she was gentle and she was the only one to use me, most importantly she was teaching me how to drive.

One more year and i was racing top speed in a impressively modified vehicle with Sihadriel on the copilot seat laughing, lately we were always together, she said i was a natural born driver, and that she loved me… To this day i don’t understand that Word, love, it simply has no meaning for me, but she was the best that had happened me since… Well ever, i raced for her and she made lots of nuyen, some she used them on me, scar elimination therapy quite painful but she told me to man up and so i tried. It was starting to become something, i was more or less free, i was finally starting to change into something, and it all fell apart, turns out that Toshiki survived the ambush and well after some serious Chroming he returned to take what was rightfully his, when i entered the garage she was broken, like a doll and he was playing with her carcass, i cried… I did not and do not understand why i cried, but i did, he explained to me that i was his toy for the rest of eternity, and so i was.

He recognized my skills on the wheels so when i wasn’t being used by him or his “friends” i was racing, the only moment i felt unchained, the only moment when i did not wish to cry. The only moment i did not hated myself. There is a saying that goes like “One man can only hold a small amount of shit before crumbling or beating the crap of his oppressor” thing is you see i was and am a maggot only working for survival, he had been hitting me pretty badly, he had a new toy, i knew i would not last long until he would kill me, and in a drag race i just did not stop on the finish line, nor when i crossed Tir borders, when i finally stopped was because i was out of juice, no fuel no speed.

He did not stop chasing me and why would he? He was almost completely chromed, i just remember the black of his eyes and the cold stare, just like when i first saw him i wet myself, i remember every punch, stab, gunshot and i don’t like it, even to this day I’m terrified of weapons, i don’t like them near me, which in the sprawl is a very idiotic fear to have, when i came to my senses i was alive and that was a surprise… Not a good one, i could not see but i could feel the pain, i could se her broken body, she still haunts me, i screamed i begged for someone to kill me for someone to end it… The pain was gone and i was in the cold embrace of darkness, if death would have a face she would laugh at me.

I was 18 and i had spent six month recovering from a punishment that should have killed me, a Priest from some old church to a entity called “God” had healed me… He did not ask for Nuyen just for compensation, he did not use me in the normal manner, he made me clean and he made me help him with menial tasks, one day he asked me to accompany him to buy groceries for the other kids he had on the old church building, his car was crap but it was the first set of Wheels i had saw in six month they were horrible and glorious, he saw me and asked me if i wished to drive, he saw my potential and also wet himself, that was my first time being consciously on Seattle.

So the Father Santiago helps me get my Legal SIN because he insists that I should have it, so I did, and what’s the first job he finds me? Smuggling illegally persecuted people out of the border, while not completely illegal well you know is in that fine margin, for the father I give him a discount any other pays full price up front if you wish to get out, if you wish a ride then things change, ive been making good money and spending it quite smartly I began to live like if I was something more than a maggot… Sure Toshiki still haunts me in my nightmares, especially when thunderstorms are about and Sihadriel broken body visits me at least once a week but I’ve been doing good, have three wonderful girls on the garage Samantha for those beautiful nights of full moonlight, Lola for high speed driving an beating regularly drivers pretenders… Taking their money is also sweet, and Erika she is my workhorse, she is in every mission I’m in that requires more than two seats, she’s a Military Patrol Vehicle legally bought, of course it does not has the pintle mounted turret, but the extra armor sure comes in handy and her design is superb. Been working with my head low, and to a select clientele, reference only, maybe that would change someday, maybe it wouldn’t.[/spoiler]

If I am allowed some comments on the characters:
@WrongConcept: There seems to be a lot of mix between the 4th and 5th edition. If you need help with the creation let us know, we'll gladly help. The main points:
- Pick your priorities (SR5 p.65)
- Starting Rating is limited to 6 (7 with the proper Quality)
- Starting Nuyens is now as followed:
Street 1D6 x 20¥
Squatter 2D6 x 40¥
Low 3D6 x 60¥
Middle 4D6 x 100¥
High 5D6 x 500¥
Luxury 6D6 x 1,000¥
So a High Lifestyle will grand you quite a bit more of starting money.
-Con is no longer part of the Influence group, but the Acting Group.
- Knowledge Point are (Intuition + Logic)x2 so 16 in your character's case.
- Adept Power Kinesics has been tuned down. It now only gives boni to resist social test and reading your emotions (judge Intention, assensing)

Anyway, let us know if you need more help.

Ditto, we'll be happy to help with your concept. A lot of the stuff on your sheet doesn't appear to exist in SR5 at this point in time or has been replaced with a different system (BPs, Commlinks with 4 Attributes, Nanopaste, etc). Seems like you're going for a fast-talking elven smuggler basically? Due to the Kinesics change, it may be better to do him as a rigger/bioware face (Control Rig and Tailored Pheromones) rather than an adept.

As I plan on making this relevant at the first available opportunity... how do you want charging to work? Do you want it to be a certain distance that is required to build up to running speed?

Im still not sure, i wish to keep him adept for the time being, maybe choose from the new powers for adept, it should be able to make a good character, maybe not ultra efficient and dice pool breaker but should be good.

I don't get this priority point system how do i know how many points do i use for normal attributes?!

I kinda dig the idea of a non-rigger wheelman.  Probably won't see too much of that.

I don't get this priority point system how do i know how many points do i use for normal attributes?!
It's actually pretty simple. Your attributes all start at a certain level. Using Human as the most basic example, they start out with 1 Attribute Point in each of the 8 Regular Attributes. If you take Attributes Priority (A), you get 24 points to distribute amongst them. At chargen it is a 1 for 1 basis. So improving an Attribute from 1 to 6 costs 5 of your 24 points. The page after the priority chart contains the racial maximums of each race. You can't raise an attribute beyond that other than through Positive Qualities or Cyber/Bio/Magic augnmentation. Also note, you can only have one attribute at your racial max at chargen.

You can certainly still play an adept, it just depends on what you plan to do with him. Maybe create a list of the top 3 things you want your guy to do and we can make suggestions, if BestTeaMaker doesn't mind.

I kinda dig the idea of a non-rigger wheelman.  Probably won't see too much of that.
It's a cool idea, but the Control Rig is so unbelievably good that it is hard to pass it up.

@BestTeaMaker
As I plan on making this relevant at the first available opportunity... how do you want charging to work? Do you want it to be a certain distance that is required to build up to running speed?

Well, I'll keep charging simple and rule it at any distance that allows you to build up that momentum. I won't be ruling distance too strictly in this game, so I will apply modifiers if it seems appropriate. But don't expect your character to charge one mile in a span of a single second, or build up a momentum of a speeding truck in the distance of five feet. Unless you have a ridiculous amount of modifiers to boost your acceleration.

Im still not sure, i wish to keep him adept for the time being, maybe choose from the new powers for adept, it should be able to make a good character, maybe not ultra efficient and dice pool breaker but should be good.

I don't get this priority point system how do i know how many points do i use for normal attributes?!

Jack summarizes it nicely, but in short, the priority system tells you which aspect of chargen you want to shine in. Personally, I think face adepts are still viable as Increase attribute/skill is a nice thing to have. But (as of now) they do lose the amazing abilities they had in 4e+supplements (Speaker's Way and Kinesics, to name a few). I do expect future supplements to add more powers, but as of now, they are a bit limited in terms of social abilities. Combat adepts, on the other hand, have a crazy boost since they have access to lovely powers and foci.

I kinda dig the idea of a non-rigger wheelman.  Probably won't see too much of that.

RCC is a nice thing to have as it finally differentiates riggers, but holy crap are their options limited when it comes to drones/vehicles/autosofts. I am disappointed that they didn't bring over the microtappers from Unwired. Those things were cool.

I'm pretty bummed with drone riggers at the moment. Drones are so weak in SR5 that it's almost never a good idea to jump in one if you have any chance of getting shot at (and this is SR, when exactly is that?), even without considering the fact that Autosoft pricing, Armor & Body Upgrades, and Pilot Upgrades are presently non-existent. They seem mostly useful as a small semi-autonomous dog-brain controled army, but they're susceptible to being hacked and are pretty expensive for what they offer. I may be missing it, but I' don't really see RCCs differentiating riggers since anyone can use them. Control Rigs on the other hand are AMAZING in vehicle combat with a sturdy vehicle like the Toyota Gopher or the GMC Bulldog. +Dice Pools, -Threholds, etc. Just my opinion though.

No no, just thinking in terms of he would need say 5-7m of running space to build up speed so I suppose we are on a very similar page regarding this.

The amazing thing about the RCC is that it functions exactly like a cyberdeck, but for rigging. It allows you to reduce noise, functions as a PAN, and allows you to jump from one machine to another without first jumping out. RCC + control rig is an amazing thing to behold for riggers. Now if they only had things worth controlling...

I am now actually going to step away from my computer as I now need to go buy textbooks. My year has begun, and now it's time to make sure I don't get bumfucked by the ridiculous textbook prices.

Ok so ive checked the book, and ive found some neat ideas about an Adept use of powers to become a better smugller, so first i will put the concept of what i wish to make:

The Charming Smuggler: Fast and furious manuevers, with a little of the Transporter Charm in it, someone that can drive as many don't dare even dream off, with a silver tongue to stay out of trouble, or charm itself out of it, a good grasp of mechanics enought to repair and make custom improvements on his vehicles. 100% legal (so criminal arrest might come into the table in the game)

So i still don't know whats an RCC but the control rig looks good, cheking the gear i have to say i would either go for the SK-Bentley Concordat (WIch is the best fast car i can get with the availability restriction, and for a workhorse im thinking of Rover Model 2072 wich is a great vehicle or even the combat tank Ares Roadmaster. And maybe my suzuki mirage.

For the adept powers i was looking first at Improved Reflexes Rating 3, Improved Potential (To account for my low scores) and maybe Improved Sense (Direction Sense)

But i would like to read what you think!

Ok, so the biggest change is that deckers now have Cyberdecks, which is essentially an iPod Tablet from which all hacking activities come from. Your Cyberdeck essentially determines your Matrix stats (Attack, Sleaze, Processing, Firewall). The Rigger Command Console (RCC) is a cyberdeck built for riggers. It acts as a PAN/WAN, can employ noise-reduction techniques, and use programs to hack and control drones. If you have a control rig, you can essentially jump into your vehicles through the RCC, and then jump directly to a different vehicle without having to jump out first.

Improved Potential, honestly, is kind of pointless for riggers. Vehicle limits are based on vehicle stats (Handling or Speed pg. 199) rather than your inherent limits. Thus, you don't need to worry too much about your low limits as long as you have good reactions, good vehicle skills, and a good vehicle (duh).  Improved Reflexes is good, but I would leave it at 2 so that you can grab Improved Ability 2 to really boost some of your skills (this mean you can break the rating 6 limit at chargen). Improved Sense is a nice grab as well.

On a hilarious side note, I see we have a group that likes to work out during their downtime.

Been working with my head low, and to a select clientele, reference only, maybe that would change someday, maybe it wouldn’t.[/spoiler]

the 2 to 3 is the extra point I counted.

Bit of a delay with the update, but I should get it up by later tonight. 2 reasons for delay:

1) Chores. Lots of small household chores that I can't push back any more.

2) I started out by doing "Your commlink rings", but then realized how BORING that would've been. So get ready for anything. :3

Alright, so that post took a bit of time to do. It seems that my posting rate will be limited to about 1 a day. This should work out well and allow you guys to take a gander at the thread and write your reply.

So I want to take this moment to talk about what GM's can do. They need to take backstories and fill in certain blanks on their own. If a certain detail isn't listed, then it is up to the GM to determine what will be. I had a bunch of fun with this segment.

And dice rolls. I will present dice rolls in two ways. The first way, as you see, is the one I put into my posts. Your post will then depend on what you roll. The second type of dice rolls will occur after you have written something. If I feel that your action warrants a test, I will notify you here in the OOC. The format I am using is as follows:

((I need this test(threshold): skills + attributes[limits+ limit modifiers], dice pool modifiers))

I will explain how combat works later when we get to it.

One last thing. I am a bit of a stickler with grammar. I will not enforce it, but I might give an extra karma bonus if I find your posts enjoyable and understandable.

Thanks, I like your style!

This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Thanks!

I just wanted to get quick clarification on the test notation. You gave FlashGiTz the following test:

((Roll a Pilot Ground Vehicle test(2): Pilot Ground Vehicle + Reaction[Maneuverability+2],-1 for sudden action))

Are the modifiers listed incorporating his Control Rig? I was assuming so with the modified Limit, but wasn't entirely sure. Just trying to figure out if we as players need to keep track of that or if you're doing it for us already.

Thanks! Will get a post up this AM.

Ok lets grind this so i need to make this test

((Roll a Pilot Ground Vehicle test(2): Pilot Ground Vehicle + Reaction[Maneuverability+2],-1 for sudden action))

Which translates for me into Pilot Ground Vehicle 6 (Wheleed) +2 plus Reaction 5 (I don't know if i have to actívate the cyberware that raises my reaction to 7 so i will not use it) plus 2 for Maneuverability and minus 1 for sudden action wich leaves me with this amazing dice pool of: 14 dice

And the amazing roll is 3!!!!!

((Roll a Pilot Ground Vehicle test(2): Pilot Ground Vehicle + Reaction[Maneuverability+2],-1 for sudden action))8 + 5 + 2 - 1 = 14 (14d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4233647/)

Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: JackVII on <09-26-13/0940:44>
Ok lets grind this so i need to make this test

((Roll a Pilot Ground Vehicle test(2): Pilot Ground Vehicle + Reaction[Maneuverability+2],-1 for sudden action))

Which translates for me into Pilot Ground Vehicle 6 (Wheleed) +2 plus Reaction 5 (I don't know if i have to actívate the cyberware that raises my reaction to 7 so i will not use it) plus 2 for Maneuverability and minus 1 for sudden action wich leaves me with this amazing dice pool of: 14 dice
A few notes:
- The [Maneuverability+2] is the limit on your test. It doesn't add to your dice pool. It caps how many hits you can have. Your Bentley has a base Manueverability of 5, so your limit is 7 hits.
- Your Reaction Enhancers are probably going to be on all the time (+2)
- Your Control Rig gives you +Rating dice to vehicle tests (+2)
- You have a Skill Recorder for Pilot Groundcraft (+1)
- If you were driving around in Hot-Sim, you'd get another boost (+1 or +2 depending on which part of the book is correct).
- If it is considered a difficult manuever, Gearhead gives you dice as well (+2)

All told, you should be rolling: 6 (Skill) + 2 (Specialization) + 1 (Skill Recorder) + 7 (Reaction) + 2 (CR) - 1 (Sudden Action) = 17 Dice, so roll 3 more :D If Hot-Sim and Gearhead enter the picture, then an additional 3 or 4 dice on top of that.

Ah right, I was tired so I left some things out. I'm also working on trying to get a format that isn't too confusing.

So yeah, I'll help keep track of your modifiers. I made a few miscalculations as I forgot about augmented modifiers, but it should go as follows. I will edit in the IC post to reflect these changes.

Threshold: 2(Medium difficulty) + 1 (You're on a main street that's empty-ish) - 2 (Control rig)

DP: Pilot skill + Reaction - 1 (sudden) + 1 (skill recorder) + 2 (control rig) + 2 (Hot Sim) + 2 (Gearhead) + 2 (reaction enhancers on)

Limit: Maneuverability + 2 (control rig)

Ok, so the stuff that I listed in bold will be the things I will mention in the posts or PMs. It will be up to you to add modifiers based on your own character sheet. Make sure your work down so that I can keep track. Another rule that I will implement is "If you roll it, it happens", so the first roll that Wrong did will be the one I look at (he succeeds, so that's a good thing). This is to 1) make sure we have less clutter on making corrections for each other and 2) encourage each other to actively check our sheets to make sure we have our math write.

@Nemo
Barely made it. You remember that this man is your fixer in Seattle.

@Wrong
You're simply rolling to see whether or not your next action will avoid hitting her.  If you had failed, you would run right into her.  Otherwise, do an action that enables you to not hit her.

I assumed the tackling part would be a gymnastic roll;  let me know if you think it should be something else (unarmed touch attack?).

Don't remember ever having to face a deadly situation on the second post of a new pbp game :) !

Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: BestTeaMaker on <09-26-13/1611:11>
Ok, so don't worry about what dice to roll after you write your post. I will tell you here in OOC what dice you need to roll. What you roll will determine what I will write. The format for when I ask you for dice rolls in OOC will go simply like this:

@obidancer
[spoiler]((Roll a Running test (2): Running + STR[Physical] to reach her; Roll a Gymnastics test (2): Gymnastics + AGI[Physical] to pull her out of the way))[/spoiler]

Then apply any modifiers you have based on your character sheet. All dice rolls thus will appear on the OOC thread. So, make sure you make it clear as to what you are doing, then I will tell you what to roll, then give you the results of what happens. Roll well, and you shouldn't have to think about making a new character. :P

Here is the roll:

Sprint to get as fast as possible to the girl (STR + Running [7]) Tackle her to grab her and get out of harm's way (AGI + Gymnastic [7]) (7d6.hits(5), 10d6.hits(5)=[2, 6, 6, 5, 5, 1, 3], [2, 5, 1, 4, 1, 4, 5, 1, 5, 5]) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4234039/)

EDIT: And it's up!

One thing I'd like to mention. If you guys are going to talk to each other IC, then go ahead and post it up. I will only intervene if you begin to use an action, or if I feel social tests are required.

Oh, and I'd like you guys to mention your Matrix handles here if you can. It will make Matrix conversations easier to track.

I'm not sure if Knockout would have ever really developed a real matrix handle. His icon looks like a red bear with boxing gloves, when he is logged in. If he would have developed a handle (I'm still a bit off on everyone being on the Matrix from my time playing 1st/2nd) he'd go by the handle Ursa Minor.

Heh, just noticed that Dacre's timeline switched to 11:30pm at some point, I'm assuming that's supposed to be am still?

For a matrix handle: FelisFurem.

Also; how noticeable would you say shock gloves are? Are they big bulky wire mesh things that anyone that had ever heard the term "shock glove" would instantly recognise as one, and anyone who hadn't would wonder wtf you had on your hands? Or do they look basically like normal gloves, maybe a little bulkier and recognisable via a concealment test to someone who knew what they were looking for?

Hallo!

Matrix Handle: StOrM rIdEr
[spoiler=Matrix Avatar: Lightning McQueen ](http://www.moviehdwall.com/movie/2013/04/4/lightning-mcqueen-movie-wallpapers.jpg)[/spoiler]

Ok question for BestTeaMaker!

1.- What can i check to notice the truck did it on purpouse or can i just assume it?
2.- Do i need to make any check to polarice the windows of my car, stop transmiting legal information (for authorities)and Switch to my fake sim?
3.- Can i use my vehicle inside sound system to comunicate instead of having to jack out of Full VR or do i have an external sound system i can use? Like the horn of the car or something?

I need those answered to be able to post my awsome answer!
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: BestTeaMaker on <09-27-13/1150:29>
@Wrong
Any time you want. Just write your action down and I will respond if you need to do anything. You don't need to do a check for small things like polarizing windows or shutting off wireless. Also, if you think you want to communicate that way, then go ahead. Just remember that not many people have experience with talking cars outside of old TV shows.

@Nemo
Yeah, I would imagine shock gloves to look large and bulky. Just don't shake people's hands and it should be alright.

Also, I get to introduce interruptions. If I feel your actions are going to get interrupted, then I will respond to that person the result of what happens. Which means the actions that you write down after the time of interruption don't happen. Have fun with KE, Cross. Make sure you guys be aware of the mysterious thumping noises before you run down the stairs.

I was under the impression new matrix architecture and regulation (aka SR5) required icon to be close to real life. A weapon looks like a weapon icon, a human, well, like a human(oid). I may be wrong.
Remy LeBeau would use the same pseudonym in meat space or in the Matrix: The Frenchman. No need for confusion.

Last Paragraph, p.218
Quote
There’s a lot of variety to be had in persona icons.
Just about any creature or animate object is fair game:
animals, moving statues, griffins (popular among teens
these days for some reason), steam-powered robots,
zombies, aliens, just about anything that can walk and
talk. The Matrix protocols will stop you from designing
an icon for your persona if it isn’t intuitively a persona,
so you couldn’t have an icon that is a dust speck, a
Greek column, or a cube, for example.

I think they are basically saying that you can't design a persona icon in a way that anyone would confuse it for a device, file, etc. It does note that Shadowrunners tend to stick to "boring" iconography so as not to stand out and professionalism. In Knockout's case, his persona icon isn't even remotely related to his shadowrunning work, so he doesn't sweat it too much. No one would hire him to delete a file unless it was by repeatedly punching whatever storage device it was located on.

Pepperface is running silent. His deck is configured: Attack 3, Sleaze 5, Data Processing 5, Firewall 6 (+1 from Encryption).

Pepperface can automatically sense unhidden icons within 100 meters, but he makes a Matrix Perception test to find any hidden ones nearby.

I took the liberty of rolling a Matrix Perception test, but I forgot the -2 for running silent. Would you rather omit the last two rolls (bringing his hits down to 4) or have me re-roll entirely?
Computer 5 + Intuition 4 [Data Processing 5] = (9d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4236733/)

As for Pepperface's Matrix handle... well, it's Pepperface. As far as what his icon looks like, I describe it pretty extensively in my original post of the character sheet, but for the short version just picture Slenderman with a blur of pixellated "snow" where its face should be.

(For those of you unfamiliar with Slenderman, I apologize for the nightmares that Google Image search is going to give you.)

Normally he wouldn't run around broadcasting such a distinctive handle/icon, but for the sake of keeping things interesting let's say he forgot to pick something more inconspicuous amidst all the chaos.

Post by: BestTeaMaker on <09-30-13/0206:45>
Well, I have made a bit of a mistake. That's what happens when you're new to GM-ing, but never fear, I have a way to fix it. That involves actually explaining what I want and then putting it on the OP.

So, the way I want to houserule travel times and preparation was to simply roll it into one post and roll. Simply put, I like to bunch them together in one roll I call the Preparation Roll. It's works simultaneously as a Navigation roll and a pseudo-Initiative roll. Note that I have been keeping track of the time. Simply put, this is my way of implementing "turns". What you roll will determine when you get prepared and arrive there. This should be an OOC roll, so it means your following post will be based on what you roll after I tell you what time you arrive. The caveat to Preparation Roll is that when I ask you to roll it, then it's a signal that you will be on standby until you have arrived. I'm doing this because (I think) it'll keep the plot rolling and we won't have to spend time explaining every single encounter that happens. I will tell you when something unexpected does happen, so do not worry.

The second thing I want to add is that if I ask you to roll something without a threshold indicator, then you don't need to worry about thresholds outside of getting glitches/critical glitches.

@Silence
So I goofed by asking you to roll IC. But you don't have to re-roll or delete your post. In fact, I want you reroll the same Navigation test, as this time it will determine when you arrive. I'm still going to keep that critical glitch into account though because I think that is hilarious and I want to do something with it.  What it will be...well, you'll see.

@Jack
Roll for Preparation: Navigation + INT

@BestTeaMaker
Also i make the test but i have a few questions, first: Because i am in Hot VR and jumped in my car shouldn't i be using the car sensors for the test? and second how good should i describe my car? for example do i have synthleather or leather? do i have mind blowing stereo? or what should i consider my restrictions? because in SR4 i would need to buy a car modification or upgrade of "Lifestyle" or should i assume that my lifestyle is applied to my car?

@obidancer
I don't know if i told you before, but no problem about what the Frenchman said, IC and OCC are two diferent things for me, im normally a Narrator for several games so im good at keeping the line between characters and RL, some of my players not so much... Yeah, that's an opulent car. So opulent. But not as opulent as my mini-giraffe. Although, since this is Shadowrun, I'm not suprised if someone does have a mini-giraffe.

Well, if you are in VR and looking through your sensors, then you have to use the sensor ratings as your limit, not mental. I'm not sure what the ruling is on sensor devices for their rating, however. You will be limited on what sort of sensors you do have, so if you have video sensors, then I can only show you what you see, microphones = sound, etc...
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: JackVII on <09-30-13/1128:36>
The Bentley has Sensors of 4. I think there are a few different rules invovled, but as I understand it, you can use Perception or Electronic Warfare and you can use your limit or the sensor's limit (based on the Sensors portion of the Equipment section). The text in the vehicle section seems to indicate that it is required that you use the Sensor's limit (which totally makes sense). I would kind of assume that a rigger adapted vehicle is going to have a camera and microhpone at a minimum.

Charisma (2) + Etiquette (6) [Mental 8] = (8d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4240894/)

I'd think an Etiquette test would use the Social Limit, wouldn't it? Either way, his Social Limit is 4, so he gets 4 hits.

@BestTeaMaker
Can i assume i saw Red_Cap character approach or he approached from a blind spot? if he is coming from one side (and that seems the logical thing) then i shouln'd be able to se him

[Wednesday 11:42 am, Oct. 23rd, 2075 | Outside Cross' Apartment | Downtown Seattle]

Well, better than nothing, I guess.  Just going to have to beat feet...

Cross nodded to the cop and headed outside, jogging over to the Bentley.  Granted, having a cop following him wasn't exactly ideal, but he didn't have much choice at the moment.  The last thing he needed on his first run was to get on Knight Errant's shit-list.

"Hey, folks," he said as he jogged up, brandishing his medkit.  "Is anyone hurt?"

Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: obidancer on <10-02-13/1208:18>
It was my understanding BestTeaMaker made an interrupt as he explained, and The Frenchman and the Elf girl hadn't made it inside the car (Due to the Frenchman poor etiquette roll) yet.
I was waiting for the result of the perception roll, see if we notice something that may be useful to deal with the KE and somehow realize The EMT is on our side.
The first action will be to put the girl inside the car though!
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: BestTeaMaker on <10-02-13/1308:21>
Yeah, I guess at this point she is waiting inside the car, wondering why the driver is conked out.

Also, apologies for not telling about the perception roll. Both of you surveyed the area, but didn't see anyone who looked like someone with a mission. Cross himself came from behind, so you weren't able to see him until he came near. However, The Frenchman does see the truck that almost ran over him and the elf parked around the corner. There is no sign of the driver.

Well, I will work on your situation once their conversation has ended. I'm sort of waiting for them to think up of something to deal with the KE officer.

But I can tell you that you become the center of attention in front of the KE office as they make fun of the Lone Star wannabe. That second taxi sure is taking its time.

Based on my Etiquette roll, I take it Pepperface made it out of the apartment okay without arousing suspicion. I also assume he got the mark on the KE persona, but I'm waiting for a resistance roll of some type to be sure.

Basically, I'm waiting on the GM to insert him into the scene outside, since I'm not quite sure how "out of the woods" he is yet in terms of leaving the building.

Also, how many seats does the Bentley have? Is there room for Pepperface, or should he get his hilariously crappy car out of the garage?

Oh, and obidancer, you still have noticed the parked truck in the distance.

@Nemo, reyjinn, Jack, and Silence
So you guys will have to wait a bit until these guys sort out this encounter and head on. Hopefully you guys won't be on standby for too long because I really really want to get to that Critical Gltich for Johnny. You guys will appear at the Stuffer Shack Max in the order listed.

On a more general note, concerning Knowledge. If you want more information pertaining to your knowledge, then just simply roll as needed and I will tell you here in OOC. Same goes for Perception tests, as you saw earlier.

But yeah, I don't really like the usual Shadowrun standby of "meet at X at X:XX, meet your teammates and get the job, plan job, execute job." It's too formulaic for my taste, and makes the beginnings a bit slow. It may have to do with the slight adrenaline high I'm getting for only getting 2 hours of sleep. Terraria 1.2 is fun, man.

LOL some nice ideas there, but ill need more nuyen for them!

I think i will need to make a con or leadership test for that stunt im trying, also what are the benefits of using edge? does it gives dice and rule of six or only allow you to bypass the limits?
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: BestTeaMaker on <10-03-13/2205:56>
Unfortunately, I'm ruling this as an Intimidation test, you're going to have to default on this. It probably wasn't the best idea to immediately threaten the KE before you knew what exactly they were after.

Edge basically allows your to manipulate the dice. You can spend an edge to re-roll any missed hits, so if you roll 6 dice and get 3 hits, using edge allows you to reroll the other 3 dice. Edge can also be used to remove limits as well as reduce fading/drain.

Trying to plan my next move... Edit File requires only 1 mark (which I have on at least one KE agent). Could I edit the image of the elf to throw off the other KE officers? It says one Edit File action is enough to change one detail of an image... turning the image into a human or changing the hair color to blonde or something would at least give us some plausible deniability.

If not, I'll just settle for bricking the KE officer's comm/deck. Because F the poh-poh, right?

As this is an active skill do my Tailored Pheromones count?

Well i rolled withouth Tailored Pheromones Just in Case it didn't and i got two nice hits!

((Intimidation test (4): Intimidation 0 + CHA 8[Social 11], -3 modifier)) Defaulting (CHA = 7 - 3 = 4) (4d6.hits(5) [3,3,6,6] =2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4244548/)

Ok so i use Edge (is it edge temporary or permanent in this case?) to reroll those 2 failed hits and will also add the 3 dice i did not used on the first test thanks to my cute tailored pheromones for a total of 5 Dice!

Edge to reroll 2 Dice from the Intimidation roll and 3 dice from the Tailored Pheromones not used before for a total of 5 dice. (5d6.hits(5) [4,2,4,5,1]=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4244557/)

Still only 3 hits! O WOE IS ME! XD
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: BestTeaMaker on <10-03-13/2243:48>
@Bewildebeast
That could work, although remember that the KE outside has examined the picture. Although, the other 2 haven't...

@Wrong
Your edge is the amount you're allowed to use each session. They regain after a night's sleep or in between sessions, whichever happens. However, there are some situations where you're edge won't regen, and there are even chances where you have to permanently lose an Edge.

Attempting a Blast Out of hands Called Shot on the Cop's weapon.

@Wrong: It would have been quite funny to see the Cop just give up and rise his hand! However, I think the Tailored Pheromones may not work on him due to the possible distance (I'm not sure how close to the car he is now). The Pheromones description states that people affected need to be at a comfortable conversation distance, able to smell you.
Nevertheless, I think just pointing the gun at him would be just the distraction needed for the Frenchman.

Alright, Pepperface is doing a LOT of stuff in this post. Because he's a decker, and the Matrix is lightning-fast, I decided to play things a few moves ahead. If I seriously botch any rolls, or if the GM decides he's going to interrupt the string of actions, I'll happily rewrite/retcon. Just trying to avoid the classic problem of "game grinds to a halt while the hacker does hackery stuff." Here's his actions, in order:

Swaps out Encryption for Edit on his deck (Edit gives +2 to Data Processing for Edit actions)
Attempts an Edit File action to change the KE pic from red-haired elf to blonde-haired elf.
Attempts a Spoof Command action to send the bogus picture to as many KE officers as possible.
Attempts a Hack-on-the-Fly action to get another mark on the KE guy's device.
Attempts another Hack-on-the-Fly action to get another mark, for a total of three.
Attempts to reformat the poor SOB's device.
Attempts to reboot the poor sucker's device.

Like I said... a lot of actions. Let me know if I'm out of line. But with that said, let's take this decker out on the open highway and see what he can really do. YEE-HAH!

Edit File: Logic (8) + Computer (5) - 2 (Running Silent) = (11d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245693/)
The Edit program brings Data Processing up to 5 for this particular test, so all 5 hits count. Good start!
Spoof Command: Hacking (6) + Intuition (4) - 2 (Running Silent) = (8d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245696/)
Yeesh. One hit is not nearly enough. Let's spend a point of Edge (first Edge expenditure of the game!?) to reroll those 7 failures, shall we?
Rerolling Failures: 7 Dice = (7d6.hits(5) =2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245698/)
Two additional hits brings that up to a respectable 3 hits! Ah, well, I thought spoofing the (probably) faked picture to the poh-poh was a clever plan, but it may not prove necessary. Let's see if we can brick this sucker's device.
Hack-on-the-Fly: Logic (8) + Hacking (6) + Codeslinger (2) - Running Silent (2) = (14d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245700/)
Not terrible. Here's another:
Hack-on-the-Fly: Logic (8) + Hacking (6) + Codeslinger (2) - Running Silent (2) = (14d6.hits(5) =2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245704/)
Bluh! Ugh! Embarassing for a hacker of Pepperface's caliber! Let's keep a happy thought and hope Mr. KE botches his defense roll. Here's the all-important Format/Reboot combo:
Format Device: Logic (8) + Computer (5) - 2 (Running Silent) = (11d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245706/)
There's a nice big-boy roll. And the grand finale...
Reboot Device: Logic (8) + Computer (5) - 2 (Running Silent) = (11d6.hits(5)=8) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4245707/)
Oh, beautiful roll, where have you been all my life? This is sadly limited to 3 hits due to my poor allocation of Data Processing.

Thoughts:
Computer is super important.
Data Processing is way more important than I thought it would be.

@Bewilderbeast
Ok, so after thinking about this and reading your post, I want you to roll Matrix AR initiative ((REA + INT + 1D6 + modifiers)). What you roll will determine any penalties to your hits when compared to defense tests. I do like that you put all your intended actions at once.

@obidancer
Yes, it does affect your Physical Limit and Condition Boxes, so calculate accordingly. Also, you are on a roll with the artwork. Freaking amazing, seeing this. I still need you to roll though. :P
Give me a Pistol test: ((Pistols + AGI[Physical],-4 for called shot)).

@all
A bit of a notice. Over the next four days, I will be extremely busy, two of those days involving flights and interviews in Chicago, so I won't be able to post as much during this time.

As long as everyone can identify the characters I'm happy! :)

Now the roll:
Agility 8 + Pistol(semi-auto) 9 + Smartlink(cybereyes) 2 - 4 Called shot = 15 (15d6.hits(5)=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4246171/)
Pretty good!

FlashGiTz! Ah-ahhhhh!
Savior of the Universe!
FlashGiTz! Ah-ahhhhh!
He'll save everyone of us!

Plus the bass line. I would totally blast that from the Bentley if I was FlashGiTz.

I'm going to have to join in on heaping praise on obidancer's artwork. Your rendition of Pepperface is excellent. The AROs are an especially nice touch.

Here's the Initiative roll, as requested. Extra Initiative die is from his Wired Reflexes. Reaction 4, plus Intuition 4, +2d6...

Initiative: 2d6 = (2d6=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4246359/)

Looks like he has an Initiative of 14.

You are so lucky, Bewilderbeast, that the highest number of hits I rolled was a 3. I couldn't use invisible castle for some reason, so I just used random.org to roll dice.

I thought I'd make this post short and sweet since the actions were pretty fast.

It's not luck! It's my l337 h@x0r skillz, man.

I'm at a loss as to how to get Pepperface into that car... and I'm not sure I want him in there anymore! You guys are pretty screwed.

I'm still near the apartment, right? Could Pepperface go into his garage and get his hooptie out, and follow the action from a distance?

I was waiting for a response from Best Tea Maker; where is Pepperface's car? Would he be able to go and get it? That seems like a better option than trying to get into that Bentley.
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]

Your car would be parked on a sidewalk nearby. Following behind would be a good idea, but remember the elf is waiting for four people.

The question is how to tell you without exposing myself to KE heat. Are the Frenchman, Flashgitz, or the elf's commlink running silent? I don't have their commcodes, but I'm hacker. I could get in my car and alert them silently via the Matrix. I'm thinking something like...

Matrix Perception to detect hidden commlinks/identify files pertinent to sending a message (like contact lists).
Use Hack-on-the-Fly to get a mark on an ally's commlink.
Use Control Device on the commlink to get it to send a message to itself, change its "desktop background" or equivalent action.

Does that sound plausible, GM?
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: obidancer on <10-13-13/0045:20>
That'd be doing it in style. You could simply send ask for a connection and send a text. For reference, The Frenchman was simply going for a Jog. He's thus not running silent.

Same here, i just turned off the transmision of SIN and The Vehicle data
Title: Re: The Shadow Sessions [OOC]
Post by: Bewilderbeast on <10-13-13/1548:08>
I was confused by the Send Message description in the rulebook, which seems to indicate that a commcode is required to send a message to somebody. But you're right, I'd think the Matrix would have some equivalent of a "friend request" feature where you could at least attempt to send a message to somebody nearby.

I'll try this in my post. Best Tea Maker, let me know if this would require hacking, and I'll rewrite.

Nah, you're good. You don't necessarily need to roll for anything.

Now, where is Red_Cap? I don't mind just having him brush along, but if he doesn't come back, his character is going to meet with quite the grisly end.

Well Thank You. I have a few more goodies coming along the way. You see when I started making the character two groups became obvious, I'll start with one: The Fashionistas. It seems these guys would rather do business in their two or three piece suits, whether it is smooth talk or butt-kicking, bullet-flying actions.  Deadly, but with Style.
Knockout, FlashGitz, Pepperface and The Frenchman

I have a theory that the elf stepped out of the vehicle just so Pepperface could conveniently see her as he stepped out of the apartment, haha.

This is the messiest start to a run I've ever seen. I'm enjoying it, but I want to move on so we can include some other characters already. I'm concerned we may have lost some players with all the waiting around.

Our GM hasn't been online since the 14th, it seems. This happens in the world for play-by-post (and I'm guilty of it myself), but I hope he comes back. I really enjoyed playing Pepperface, and it'd be a shame for obidancer's artwork to go to waste.

Though you're allowed to use my art for your P&P game, I hope this is not how our characters will end up. It is however quite hard to play without a gamemaster... Come on BestTeaMaker, we're counting on you. It was a fun start.
