Anyone else practicly salivating over this game?

They put up some new gameplay video that so far is pretty damn cool.

*fanelfsquee!*

And they're keeping it turn-based! Unlike that travesty of Jagged Alliance re-release.

Watched the video all the way though, would have liked more view of the strategic level but the combat level looks extremely faithful. Also confirmed available for steam pre-order which makes me happy, because driving to the store for software is stupid only slightly less then waiting for it to get to me.

I watched that while prepping tomorrow night's dinner. It looks fun.
Power corrupts.
Absolute power is kinda neat.

Xcom would make an awesome property or even homage to do an RPG on. I'm actually kind of suprised no one in America has tried it. Is the German RPG any good, does it capture the whole feel or is it just combat against aliens.

Got the original still sat on my Steam account. I love it to bits. Using the lazer pistols was fantastic, very cheap on action points and stunningly inaccurate even at point blank range. Later on carpet bombing a map with the blast launchers was Sweet Sweet payback.
An Awful lot of people believe a lot of very strange things indeed for no valid reason I can see. They can`t all be right but it is quite likely they all can be very wrong.

Lol!!

"hmm, I wonder if there is an alien camping the elevator......"
Loads blast launcher, set waypoints to hallway, elevator, up on level, fly to wall.
•fires•.... Zip, zip, zip BOOM!
"Errrak!" "Errrrak!" "Errrak!"

"yep. 3 were camping the 'vator' "

I have mine pre-ordered.

Got mine in as well, PC and X-Box since one of my customers finally decided to settle up a debt.

Lately I've been playing through the originals on my Steam account, but also some of the other 'versions' that folks have put out. UFO Aftermath/Aftershock/Afterlight is a decent homage that takes its own direction rather than trying to duplicate X-Com entirely. UFO Extraterrestrials is a halfway decent third party version of X-Com with its own set of good and bad points. But they've cleaned it up quite a lot with the gold edition (which includes in the base game a ton of ease-of-play patches and difficulty boosting or lowering options). Evidently they're almost done with a second game in their series that details the attack on Earth (the first game is on a colony world).

Been playing these not just because I'm a sucker for the game style, but because my own campaign is Shadowrun in the X-Com/Aftermath style (or at least it will be once the players reach that point in my planned timeline... they're going through some artifact funtimes mixed with some foreshadowing currently). I've had this mental image of a troll adept going toe-to-toe with a pissed off muton for a while. :)

They always camp the grav-lift. Big UFO w/ lift in the center... send blaster bombs up to each level, zip into a wall to clear the corridors.

Or just remember where each big UFO has their control room and blaster bomb a hole in the hull so your flying suit soldiers can zip in with the small launchers to stun all the commanders and psychics. Other aliens lose morale and it's clean-up time.

I'm so excited I bought a DOS emulator equipped copy of the original and cracked out on it for a couple months. Good times.

I've owned it pretty much since it came out on steam, it was also my big reason for continuing to re-op my gametap subscription for a while there.  Playing the original has quelled a lot of my fears about the smaller squad sizes they seem to have you working with, because on any given mission a lot of my guys are mostly idle. Also not going to miss time units.
