They were a vampire serial killer, who would kill someone, then use some of the remaining blood to write what meal they were; snack, dinner, brunch, breakfast, etc. The original Meal Time Killer is dead, as is the first copy-cat/the vampire the police thought was the Meal Time Killer. Fear the Dark, an apparent vampire-supremacy group, possibly got the Meal Time Killer started; they definitely helped her out and inspired/hired a lot of copy-cats. Their goal isn't to coexist with the people; they're predators, and they'll take what they want. One of their higher-ups definitely creates Renfield and uses it to ensure the loyalty of goons.
As is, it's why the Infected Rights movement has, as per Run Faster, been going down the toilet. And as bounties stay on the heads of the Infected, as their urges become stronger, as the sunlight pushes them further away from humanity, more Infected, even those who just wanted as close to a normal life as they could get, are joining up. If the only other option is to be destroyed, most Infected would rather have the populace Fear the Dark. /waxpoetic
