This is not a recruitment thread.

Welcome to the reboot.

IC thread here: http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=20706.0

Chapter 1 was "It Started at the Belmont," and Chapter 2 was "Deep in the Shadows of Texas: A Savior's Legacy."  Weeks have passed since that ill-fated run, and now Hopeless is back in the grand old DFW, ready to make some new friends, or reconnect with some old ones.  The choice is yours.

You can find the Chapter 1 IC thread here: http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17566.0
And the Chapter 2 IC thread here: http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=18866.0

And the OOC thread here: http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17546.0

Please post your character sheets below, and refrain from posting in this thread until each player has signed in.

The team so far:
Wind (Missing and presumed dead)
Loki (Missing and presumed dead)
Dantes (Turncoat extraordinaire)
Breeze (Dead)
Hopeless: (Poindexter) Probably the luckiest sonofabitch in the western CAS, Hopeless has a plan and the spirits to see it through.
Archive: (Dead) He took one for the team, not that he meant to.  Sadly, this little decker will never get the recognition and fame that Breeze has enjoyed posthumously.
Wraith/Two-timer: (JackVII) From the gleam of the debutante's ball to the grimy shadows of the DFW, Miss Rachel Davenport was twice a gnome's hair away from getting geeked in a most unceremonious way, but that's what happens when kids from Rockwall want to play shadowrunner.  Currently, she's saddled with a bad rep, and trying to find ways to pay her bills.
The Phoenix: (SgtBoomCloud) Another kid from the burbs with enough of that middle class malaise to actually search out shadow work.  What's wrong with the kids today?  A few bad choices aside, Phoenix has the skills and the tools to make a staunch ally, and a formidable opponent.
La Sombre: (Jayde Moon) Ex-Border Patrol turned runner for hire.  A calm and collected B&E specialist who is new to the shadows, La Sombre is poised for big things.

Antagonists

Retro-Futurists: neo-fascists who worship good chrome and a human genealogy, this group has been receiving a lot of bad press lately and for good reason.  Still, it's unclear if their goals are as simple as genocide and/or slavery for all awakened and metas.  Hopefully, they'll stick to their side of College Station.
Big Daddy: A freelancer?  RF scum?  The team has cost this little pervert quite a bit in the ¥ department, to say nothing of what they've done to his pride.  So far, he's proven to be an adequate rigger with deep pockets and a short temper.  How this guy ended up surviving the wrath of not one, but two runner teams gunning for him is a mystery, but his body hasn't turned up anywhere
Dantes: the only character to make an appearance as a team member and an antagonist.  Who knows what his long game is, or his real employer.
Las Putas de la Muerte Shaman: (Geeked)
The Driver Thug: She tried to geek the mage first, and failed.  Still, she's damn quick, and if she's still out there, who knows what she'll be capable of next.
Dr. Leonard Drampe: Since the successful run against the Texas Rangers at Easterwood Airport, a lot of eyes went on Dr. Drampe and his less-than-protocol handling of the Deepweed.  He has since been "retired" is thought to be facing criminal charges, and has been thoroughly de-legitimized.

Allies

Dr. Kenneth Bauchon: Nice enough guy, if a bit of booze and another word that rhymes with "booze" hound.  He's the man with the inside info, and he desperately needs the team to succeed here, or he'll lose a lot more than a hand.
Ticker: A street doc who saved Hopeless' life, Ticker is the good kind of Christian who runs a clinic in College Station to pay for his street clinic in the DFW.
Error: Hulk Smash or automatic weapons, it makes little difference to him.  He got the team out at the run against the Texas Rangers, and has since holed himself up in the DFW, where he won't make quite the impression that he did back home.  Word on the street is that he's now doing some work for the Vory.
Bookworm: (Retired) Studious, articulate, and while she only had a single shadowrun under her belt before giving up the game, it's best not to underestimate this little dwarf, or her magical abillities.

Current Run

Eliminate 4 yaks.  Simple enough.  For further info see:
Lemme know if you need me to put the dice pools here. HL is a PITA in that the statblock doesn't do pools, and the only other option for output is PDF.
I can re-do this block to be more like how I've got Doc in the old Tabula Rasa game.
What he looks like
While still giant for a human, he's very small for a troll.  At 2.35m Tall (7f8i) and 225kg (500lbs) he's a veritable shrimp. An Amerind, he's got the dark tan/redish skin, that happens to glow in the dark, and sharp features.  Though those have been rounded out by his trollishness  somewhat.  His horns are a deep ebony and curl around long, thick, dreads that are usually steel grey.  His tusks are well cleaned, though he has an almost constant sniffle and thus a bit of mucous usually around his large nose.  He has sharp black eyes that end up being a bit rheumy from having a constant cold.
He dresses in synth-leather pants with big cowboy boots and button-up usually left open over a wife- beater with a long coat and a cowboy hat on top.  His clothes aren't the cleanest as he rarely has access to clean them, but they aren't filthy either.  He's no more than a couple of hours away from being presentable most anywhere, but generally looks like he's from the wrong side of the tracks...  which he is.  His right forearm and hand are obviously cybernetic as there's no synth-skin to cover the chrome.  It's a newish model without being bleeding edge.  And it's in meticulous condition and the chrome gleams.  A final affectation would be that he can almost always be found rolling poker chips through his chrome fingers.

Some history
Lumenogix Bioinformatix was a small biotech informatics company that started just after the Awakening in Sante Fe.  They specialized in making data available researchers, but in 2021 when the founders both goblinized they started specializing in data on orks and trolls.  While fairly small their research was interesting and Evo eventually ended up buying them up.
In the late 2040s the founders started getting into more bioengineering.  Evo was happy to fund this as they had shown good results in the past, and all of the work was aimed at metas, specifically orks and trolls, but metas in general.  As the years went on, the founders started straying into areas of research that Evo was less comfortable with.  The bioengineering they were doing ended up being of less interest to Evo, something about there being no profit in it.  The founders started embezzling funds from other projects to work on their personal goals in early 2050, using the distraction of Buttercup being revealed to be a free spirit.  They were working on making the perfect meta, strong fast and smart.  For several years they were unable to produce any viable candidates, but they started introducing changeling genomes into equation in early 2054.  They finally had a viable candidate survive gestation.  Unit T-1283, using the changeling genomes and blending several pieces of bioware into the troll genotype they finally had a fetus come to full term.  When T-1283 turned 5 they discovered he was Otaku and implanted a datajack in his head.  Right about this time someone in accounting discovered the embezzlements.  With all of the research being done off book, Evo had no idea what the money was being used for so they sent a crew to "clean" the small company.
They came in and simply firebombed everything during business hours as the insurance write-off would cover most of the embezzled funds.  The 48 employees and 2 founders were all listed as victims of the "accident."  Almost nothing survived, that is except for a small room that was hidden in the basement since it was off-books it wasn't even on any of the floor plans for the building.  In this room was a young troll nursemaid-come-nanny and experiment T-1283.
Not knowing what else to do the nursemaid, a SINless troll from the projects, fled the scene with the child and ended up raising him as her own.  T-1283, or Sniffles as she called him, lived on the shitty side of town in the late 50s and early 60s.  His "mom" ended up getting killed by a stray bullet during a gang initiation gone wrong, or right depending on who you ask.  Sniffles spent his pre-teen and teenage years living on the streets in downtown.  After Crash2.0, he was lucky to survive but he'd learned to be a pretty good hacker at that point.  He mostly did matrix work for a street doc that paid him in the meds to deal with all of the genetic problems he had.
Then he found poker, and at first this was a good thing.  He was making *way* more money and was able to just pay his bills.  Matrix poker meant his dripping nose or comparatively large physique wouldn't cause any problems.  Then he got into sports betting, which was a big mistake.  He had a home-town bias for the Combat Biker team The Thunderbirds and wound up in fairly deep trouble.  In what happened afterwards he found himself down half an arm and running from town.
Calling in a favor from a poker friend, Slim, he made his way to the DFW area.  Turns out Slim is actually a local bookie for the wage slaves in Dallas and gives Sniffles a place to crash for a few days until he can get on his feet.  Slim has a lot of contacts in the area since he covers the bets for so many.  Lots of people end up owing him favors.  Slim got him set up with a street doc to replace his arm with a much improved model.  He was already reasonable at shooting, but with an augmented arm he moved up to being pretty damn handy with one.  That and glowing in the dark can help quite a bit with intimidating debtors.  Sniffles starts doing some odd jobs that come this way and soon he's able to get a shitty place of his own, but that's better than owing a bookie even more.  Even if, or especially if, he's your omae.  With a decent source for his meds and something, if not a steady, source of income Sniffles starts to feel at home outside of the big city.  Just starting to get everything sorted and then it happened.  He emerged.  All of his memories from being otaku came racing back but with everything wireless now it was even more encompassing.
With everyone going crazy over the fear of Technomancers, Sniffles is even more glad for his chrome as they usually don't have any.  Something about the chrome tends to interfere with the Resonance.  His datajack and cyberarm help keep the heat off, and his ever present commlink.  Even if all the commlink does is run his PAN, it's enough to keep the causal observer comfortable that he's not even more of a freak than they already think he is.  There are special snowflakes, and then there's Sniffles.  Created from birth to be different and cursed with just about every freak gene there is, he does his best to make ends meet and live another day.
Personality
Considering his background, he's really friendly.  Just generally a nice chummer that the 6th world has shit mightily on.  You know, just like every other bloke out there.  He'll crack a joke with anyone, and is always willing to take a risk.  And Ghost forbid someone brings up a wager.  Nothing will perk Sniffles up faster.  If you've got his back, you can be sure he's got yours.  He might be the most cuddle-y of trolls out there (How many cuddle-y trolls are there?  Wait, don't answer that.), and a bit cool to the touch, and he'll sneeze on you.  But other than that, he's a steadfast friend and ally.

Born as a human and raised in DFW in a large and poor hispanic family, Gabriella goblinized at 14 and was turned out of her home and finished growing up with Ork cousins.  When she came of age, she joined the CAS Military as the only option for a life.

There, her skills lead to being chosen for a special operations unit designed to act against unconventional threats, such as Shadowrunners or, more likely, Aztlan incursions along the Texas Border.  They worked closely with the Texas Rangers.  She served well and eventually reached the rank of Staff Sergeant.  An incident with a superior officer lead to her being turned out of the CAS Military with a General Discharge.

Returning home to DFW with a meager savings, she has tapped her contacts to find work, finally receiving a call to meet with someone called Mr. Johnson.

Appearance:

Gabriela is a dark skinned hispanic Ork.  She has a well rounded figure and lets her hair grow long.  She is about 5'9" and weighs about 162 pounds.

Most of high society considers her little more than eye candy, so her influence is minimal. Wraith ran into Cynthia in the Galleria after her return from Denver and was surprised when Cynthia recognized her. They've gone out for drinks once since then, but Wraith realizes their worlds are light years apart now.

Concept: Disowned, DFW trust-fund debutante. Noted for repeated wild parties and embarrassing incidents with the paparazzi, her family decided enough was enough after she wrecked her third Eurocar Westwind 3000 while at the end of a multi-hour novacoke bender. After being declared persona non grata by DFW high society, her parents paid for her SIN to be wiped and sent her to a rehab clinic in Denver under a fake SIN. While in rehab, she had an epiphany and realized how much she had wasted her life up to that point, particularly after hearing the stories of addiction and loss told by some of her fellow group members. She had always had a knack for computers, often using those skills to bypass her parent’s security systems to get out of the house, steal cars, and screw with the paparazzi. Further developing those skills has given her a capability sought after by many people. Given the similarities between corporate culture and high society, she decided to live closer to the streets and work in the shadows where respect is largely earned rather than bought, moving back to the DFW.

Her plan met the same fate as most when they hit the shadows. Hooking up with a particularly unsavory fixer, her first two runs ended in the deaths of the rest of her team, with her as the sole survivor in each case. She suspects the fixer, who hired her for both runs, may have set the two teams up and is using her as a scapegoat. Rumors on the street about her former novacoke habit have suddenly gained steam and she is finding it difficult to get work, particularly anything involving working with a team. Because of that, money has gotten tight and she’s burned through the remaining funds in her trust. She’s desperate for work at this point; outside of the odd solo jobs she does from time to time.

Appearance: Attractive in a girl-next-door way, Two-Timer wears her mousy brown hair in a pixie cut. She almost always hides her green eyes behind a pair of mirrored aviator sunglasses and has a nickel-plated datajack installed in her left temple.

While she still follows fashion, she gave up on being a fashion plate during rehab. Instead, she typically wears a functional Vashon Island Actioneer Business Skirt-Suit. The suit provides a reasonable level of protection and provides a built-in concealed holster for her Fichetti Security 600 light pistol. To get more use out of the suit, she opted for the electrochromic fabric option. When on the job, she opts for a ruthenium polymer chameleon suit to avoid any unsolicited bullets coming her way.

Alias: Lynn Stedding is a licensed and certified Matrix security consultant, doing small contract jobs for a variety of different A and AA megacorp subsidiaries.

(background WIP, should be done this weekend.  As always, the character crunch is rough, open to feedback!)

== Info ==
Street Name: Phoenix
Name: Marissa White
Movement: 12/24
Karma: 0
Street Cred: 0
Notoriety: 0
Public Awareness: 0
Human Female Age 23
Height 5'5" Weight 165
Composure: 5
Judge Intentions: 5
Lift/Carry: 5 (45 kg/30 kg)
Memory: 5
Nuyen: 4279

==Appearance==
A human woman of average height and (more or less average) weight, the Phoenix is surprisingly stylish for one of her profession.  Her red auburn hair was kept long and straight, extending to the midback when left down, her face partially covered when not tucked behind her ear, leaving one hazel eye uncovered.   Fair skin adorns her almond-shaped face, her mouth assymetrically curled into a half-smirk.  Whenever she walks, she does so with an air of confidence and bravado, a slight swagger in her hips and head held high, accentuated by her clothes, which in casual settings consists of form-fitting jeans and a tanktop, accompanied by a jacket if the weather is unexpected cool.

On the job, her appearance shifts into the look befitting a trid star.  In any normal job where fighting is considered (and in her line of work, that is often)Heavy boots covered her feet below black synthleather pants, a heavy belt ringing her hips.  A one-size small crimson shirt covers her torso, covered by a more protective black and red jacket covered in armored plates, leaving her forearms bare, hands protected by heavy black synthleather gloves.  An opague black ballistic mask would cover her face when she went to work, giving her an overall imposing presence.

Of course, not all jobs allow for this kind of getup.  With that in mind, the Phoenix keeps many other outfits for any situation.  Her time in the DFW has granted her some affection for the Texas-style lined longcoat for that "stranger in the sunset" look.  When dealing with high-society drek, a cut and clean business suit framed her figure, often with her weapons carefully tucked away.  Even stealth is an option for her, and electrochromic chameleon suit hugging her and keeping her out of sight.

Regardless of her attire, one thing was certain: this young woman was most certainly armed and dangerous at all times, and often in more ways than one.  It was almost a ritual before every job: pull up to the location in her sleek car, pop the trunk, open the hidden paneling, and proceed to strap on the various holsters and slings about her body as she picked the tools for that particular situation.  Her personal record stands at ten at any one time.
==Concept==

The Phoenix is, by and large, suited for one main purpose: combat.  In the shadows, a perfect plan will be clean, cut and dry, and unnoticed until the offending party is long gone from the scene.  History and liberal use of Murphy's Law dictate that such an outcome is the rare exception rather than the actual rule, often leading to some firefight.  That is where Phoenix comes in.  With a vast array of tools and ability, she can put the hurt on anyone at most any range, often in more ways than one.  Quick, mobile, hard-to-hit, and very much lethal.

"Mr. House" (6, 1)
A classic sleazy fragger by any other name.  Ran into this guy shortly after I started my new life.  Runs a string of smalltime casinos as fronts for his fixer biz, hence the name.  Kinda creepy, especially when he uses his actual poker chips as calling cards
Sgt. Donahue (3, 2)
Now this is a class act.  This guy runs a small armory in the DFW meant for corpsec access when drek really hits the fan.  Funny thing is, the corpsecs don't appreciate his work.  I helped him out of a jam once or twice, so he and I are tight.  Even let me walk away with a few toys.  Wiz.

==Background==
"What's happening, ShadowNET!  This is...hey...this thing on?  Hell-OOOOO!  Testing testing, check check...alright, there we go...

Well, I suppose this is my declaration of intent, to be broadcasted in the event of my unfortunate but AWESOME demise or some drek like that.  Either way, I don't want folks to be confused by what I do, and I will be HELLA damned if I go out a faded memory.  So here goes.

I'll start from the beginning.  As much as I wish I had parents killed by a lone gunman, or had some sick accident in waste or radiation or whatnot, I was born into safe, dreary middle class normalness.  You'll forgive me if I don't say names, but I'm sure my poor mother'a heart would burst if she knew the drek I got into.  Needless to say, they were both extremely average upper wage-slaves for a big Corp, or some subsidiary thereof.  Accountant and personal assotant, if I'm being precise (maybe!). In Austin, that meant I grew up in a fairly decent apartment in the middle of a not so decent hood.  I had schooling, a little socializing, but I was definitely not allowed outside by myself, ya know?  So, for the several hours a day I was alone whilst the parentals were making their pay, I was at home.  Toys got boring, wasn't allowed a link, so I had one thing:

The Trids.

Action trids became my life.  There was excitement, there was action, and danger meant drek!  I idolized it, obsessed over it.  I memorized every catchy line, every dramatic speech right before things got hairy, all the cool poses the heroes made right after a sweet kill...walking away from explosions was my favorite.  Of course the parentals got a little concerned, but it wasn't like I'd actually act on this, right?

Fast forward to when I'm 18.  Just graduated high school (barely, with plenty of bribes, trust me), and da was lining my hoop up with a safe, boring wage job.  Knew it was my chance before I got locked down, so what did I do?  Borrowed my ma's link, loaded as much jing as I could get away with onto a stick, and skipped out. I was free.  Thankfully I kept some skills from school and subtly put my feelers out for work to let me live my dream: live a life high on action and epicness.

Granted, the first jobs were a bit dull: guard duty, bodyguarding, security, drek like that.  But it got my name out there and got me in touch with connections and resources.  Started picking up guns and shooting with them (SIM games only go so far, believe me!) And was getting pretty good.  After a year, I was granted more transport jobs, even more active muscle work.  By 20, a merchant company recruited me, promising me some real action, and they delivered!

A year into that, though, it all went to drek.  Was given a job with a team to go out into Arizona to raid a guarded supply dump for some hoop.  The twist?  The dump belonged to a syndicate.  Yaks  or Triads, by the look of em, but I don't remember.  Either way, job went to hell, we barely escaped alive.  Guess I got IDed, because two days later, while waiting for my next order, my hoop gets jumped, bagged, and taken to who-fragging-knows-where, and placed in the sand on my knees.  The only thing I see when the bag over my head is removed is a pale hand with a gun pointed at my chest.  Click, bang, thud, red.

I was dead.  I'm sure of it.  The next part is where things get really sick...

Everything is black.  I'm literally seeing nothing.  And then, suddenly, FLAMES EXPLODE AROUND ME.  I'm floating in the middle of it all, engulfed, and then a shape forms in front of me.  A great fragging  flaming bird, a Phoenix, landed, stared me in the eye, and spoke.  I'll never forget the words.  "Your heart burns with passion.  It should not extinguished by mere execution.  You seek challenge?  Rise and take flight.". And I awoke.  In a desert.  Alive.  Fueled by a fire I had never felt before.

I wander for days.  Dunno how I stayed alive through it all, but eventually I was found by some shaman dude.  Said I was Awakened, and that was how he found me.  Magic?  I dunno, but if that's what the energy I feel inside is, I won't knock it.  I feel...faster, nimble, quick, like some coiled spring.  I realized until this point I was simply pretending to be an action star.

Now I am one.

Given direction, I made my way to the nearest city, did some work, stole a car, and began building my collection again.  One gun or weapon wasn't going to cut it: I was destined for a greater ability.  Now,no one is safe when I have my target.  I do my work, look good doing it, leave my calling card, then get in my car and move on.  Sometimes I find a place to hole up to build my cred sticjsm. The DFW?  Small enough, but if I can get some work, should suit me fine..."
1- Fixer                  2      4
"B Know" An Ork from arlington who used to be big in the drug game. he doesn't like the hassle of dealing with product anymore after a nasty run in with the law. Tries to keep clean, but just can't seem to stay out of the game all the way. A bit overcautious, he never has anything illegal at his house. Ian met him about 4 years ago though mutual acquaintances, and due to the "thug attitude" B Know puts off, Ian doesn't really trust him.
2- Drug dealer      1      2
"Tammy" is a 30 year old elf stripper who lives in southside ft worth. She sells a few of the less hardcore drugs on the side to help make ends meet. She's a very business minded gal, and even though she acts all sweet at work, there's no nonsense with her. Ian dated her sister for a few weeks about 8 months ago and the two have kept in contact on a strictly business level ever since. Never hurts to know who to call for party supplies.
3- Street-doc       3      1
"Ticker" is a former CAS army medic and he'd seen more than his share of action. He doesn't talk about it much, but if you get close to him at all, you can tell there are still some rough memories for him. Maybe he does all that pro-Bono work to try and atone for something in his past. Who knows. He is deeply christian and follows all the tolerant, loving parts of the bible to the letter, ignoring the more rapey and slavey bits.
4- Mechanic         1      1
"Jimbo" specializes in classic automobiles, but he can fix just about anything. He's heavily racist, sexist, homophobic, and generally hateful toward almost everyone who aint white, human, straight, and male, but he knows how to keep his mouth shut and he doesn't gouge on price. That's good enough for Ian for now.
5- Talismonger      1      2
"Elise Glendrose" Works the counter at a high end talismonger shop on the glittering and clean north side of dallas. She's a bit sheltered due to her privileged upbringing, but she has a good heart. Ian met her through an online dating site and both knew it wouldn't work out after one date. She has a certain kind of future in mind for herself and a guy like Ian just doesn't fit. Never smart to throw away a contact though, and Ian has been a loyal customer of hers ever since.
6- Matrix/Magical expert   3     2
"Bookworm" is a reliable dwarven woman who Ian recently worked with on a run that went horribly sideways. She's one of those people you meet every now and then with a mind as sharp as monowire, and he credits her for the survival of the team, even though she's too modest to accept such credit. Of the entire revolving cast of characters, she was the only one he felt like he really "clicked" with and the two have remained in contact since then. If he were being honest with himself, he'd see that he's clearly interested in her on a romantic level, but he refuses to admit it.
7- Street Sam  2    3
"Error" is a heavy drinking loudmouthed ork with nerves of steel as well as connections with the Vory. After dealing with some depressing and uncomfortable things together on a run, the two grew to respect one another and kept in contact.
8- Hermetic Academic  6    6
"Dr. Kenneth Bauchon" was one of the few people who treated Ian well while he was at Texas AM&M, and so, years later, when he called, desperately in need of help, Ian put his life on the line to cover Dr Ken's ass. The doctor even ended up with a sizable promotion after all was said and done. The two of them are on very good terms, despite the fact that Ian doesn't trust his judgement all that much.

== Background ==
Ian Bradley was born to a couple of SINless parents. Mom tried to work, but soon it cost more for a babysitter than she'd make in a shift, and so became a stay-at-home mom pretty quick. Dad managed to get work through a fake SIN driving trucks at the dock, till the dock closed down to make room for a new hotel. After that, it was whatever he could hold down, which was never much. When Ian was about 3, he had a new sister and things got even harder. Before long, dad was taking out of town jobs and staying gone for weeks and even months at a time. They often moved to follow dad's job only to have it finished by the time they got there. Then, dad was off again. It was rough, but they got by.

Ian was always good in school and picked up on things a bit more quickly than the average kids, but never nearly as well as the smart kids. That's why even when he wasn't switching schools, he was switching classes, his teachers always thinking he was either way too smart or way too stupid for this particular class. He learned to make friends quickly, but never close enough to miss them. He learned to pick up new skills in a hurry, but never learned the value of mastering anything. By the time he was 18, he had learned a lot about a lot of things and still didn't know shit about shit. It was about then that he awakened. Of course it happened a week after he'd finally saved up enough money for that shiny new alphaware data-jack.

He couldnt weave magic into spells and whatnot, but he COULD talk to spirits and see the astral plane. That was enough for him. Even though he lacked a proper SIN, he managed to get himself a pseudo-secretive janitorial/apprentice position at Texas AM&M. He was only there for two years before the unthinkable happened.

Walking home one night, a van drove up and stopped next to him on the street before three men jumped out the back in a flash. They were dressed as policlub members, but Ian got the sense that they didn't quite talk the talk exactly right. They duct taped him and brought him to a secluded area under a busy train track, where they tortured and beat him within an inch of his life over the course of several hours. They thought they were leaving him for dead, but a passing taxicab just happened to notice him and make a call to a local street doc who does pro-bono work.

After several weeks of rehab, Ian was back on his feet again. Too afraid to go back home, for fear of running into those men again, he moved to the other side of town and tried to blend into the shadows, vowing that the next band of assholes to jump him are going to regret it. It's been almost 10 years since then, but still, every time he hears a train go by, it puts him right back to that night, shaking and stammering, remembering what they kept calling him as they beat him and laughed; "Hopeless".

== Concept ==
He's quite versatile, perceptive, intelligent, and has a wide variety of abilities at his disposal. He is however, undisciplined and has never really put in the effort to master anything. He's also the luckiest son of a bitch around. That, plus a solid head on your shoulders and spirits watching your back can make up for a LOT of shortcomings.
I do not mean to post where uninvited, but I have just joined this forum seeking to join a shadowrun PbP (play-by-post) game. I am a very experienced PbP-er in another game system, and have limited experience in Shadowrun 4e. I am at a loss for local groups with which to play, so I'd like to try 5e here on these boards. I interpret this as an open recruitment thread. If that interpretation is correct, I would like to work up a relatively simple character (perhaps a physical adept) with which to apply. Is that alright, or is there something implicit here that I'm missing?

We're going to start the IC thread on Monday, May 18th.

About the last run, I'm making the following calls:

1. Hopeless has Breeze's old deck.
2. Jack died in the last run, possibly from bio-feedback, and possibly from a critical glitch on an explosives roll.  However it happened, he was doing something to make sure that the rest of the team got out.
3. Bookworm had to kill someone.
4. 427 poppers of Deepweed were recovered.  400 were coded with green bands, 27 were coded with red bands, and had additional safety features to hinder any accidental discharge.
5. Hopeless was able to keep some Deepweed.  How much and of what kinds is up to him.  As of the start of this chapter, he has not "hit" any of the red-banded type.
6. I'm not going to do karma or nuyen awards for the last run.  Hopeless has rent paid for 3 months, and is able to basically re-up on consumables, but something came up to grab most of the extra nuyen.

Questions for the team: do y'all know each other, or will this team be assembled for the next run?

@Poindexter, would Hopeless consider working for Dadlez again?

@SgtBoomCloud, how long has Phoenix been in the DFW area?

@Jack, what member of the previous team, besides possibly Hopeless, did Wraith know?

@All, anyone with a knowledge skill in anything to do with Organized Crime, Yakuza, Azzie/CAS relations, or Azzie gangs, can make a test now.

I'm good with not really knowing each other, although it's up to y'all. Not having to roleplay all of that out does let you jump into the action, but you kind of lose out on potential fun.

As far as Wraith/Two-Timer, she would have most likely known Breeze, but I feel that has already been used as a lever. Let's go with Wind. Maybe they had worked together before?

As for the test, I don't have any of those skills, but I do have one for Street Drugs, in case it has to do with the last run.
Street Drug Knowledge: 7d6t5 5 (So... that was pretty good).

1. Hopeless has Breeze's old deck.

YAY! I'm gonna spend 5 of his 7 karma on the cracking skillgroup. Hopeless's childhood dream has come TRUE! He's a DECKER! Possibly the worst decker in the city, but a damn decker. Expect his mood to be a bit improved over the last run.

5. Hopeless was able to keep some Deepweed.  How much and of what kinds is up to him.  As of the start of this chapter, he has not "hit" any of the red-banded type.

How bout 2 of the green band and one of the red band.

6. I'm not going to do karma or nuyen awards for the last run.  Hopeless has rent paid for 3 months, and is able to basically re-up on consumables, but something came up to grab most of the extra nuyen.

How's bout my roto-drone was damaged and I had to fix it?

Do y'all know each other, or will this team be assembled for the next run?

I'm cool either way. I actually enjoy the meet up phase. Not only that, but it gives us some time for people to drop out before things get too hairy.

@Poindexter, would Hopeless consider working for Dadlez again?

Yeah, but he'd probably ask for more money after how things went last time.

@All, anyone with a knowledge skill in anything to do with Organized Crime, Yakuza, Azzie/CAS relations, or Azzie gangs, can make a test now.

What do I know about Azzie/CAS relations? (Int 4 + National politics 1): 5d6t5 1

it's something.

I'm assuming edge is refreshed right?

EDIT: Also, what should we do about the advance Dadlez sent us? Are we assuming that was all spent as well? Split what was left three ways between me, Error, and Book?

EDIT 2: Did Ian gain any street cred, notoriety, or Public Awareness from the last run?

@Poindexter, let me know if I miss anything.

Sounds good on karma expenditures.  Over the last couple weeks Ian was able to do the work for that.  Also good on deepweed.

Fixing the roto-drone sounds perfect.  Damn expensive, those things.

Unless SgtBoomCloud feels differently, it sounds like everyone is fine with having the team assemble at the meet.

Noted on Dadlez.  As for money, divvy up what's left into thirds and Hopeless can keep the rest of it.

Edge is refreshed.

Ian earened 1 Public Awareness and 1 Street Cred, and 0 Notoriety.  He's awful close to getting some Notoriety based on how many of his teammates have turned up dead at this point, but Dadlez has been up front enough with the intelligence leaks on her side of things.  It's almost like this Johnson has a conscience or something.  Or, you know, what passes for one.

Ok, knowledge rolls.

@Jack, Everybody's going nuts for those Green Meanies.  Seriously, if deepweed is your game, and you got the cred to spend, you gots to get some.  The comedown isn't as hard, and the trip is just fantastic.

@Poindexter, Things have been rough with a feud between the Yaks and the Feathered (a pro-Aztechnology gang).  Kinda strange that a gang is standing up to a syndicate, but they seem to be holding their own.

In that case, he won't gouge her on price then. If she's been upfront about it, he can't fault her... yet.

red, I do not feel different about having us all get to know each other at the initial meet.  If anything for Phoenix it makes perfect sense, as....

Reply to query:
I'm intending for Phoenix to be fairly new to the DFW (if that means anything other than Dallas Ft. Worth I'm going to feel very stupid).  Like, at most been there for a couple months.  Given the nature of the background (which I intend to do work on and put up on the character post for the next hour), having her be that lone stranger in the slick car rolling into town fits.

Granted, the shadow community is pretty wide and connected.  Merc types and such may be aware of her existence.   Or rumors abounding of the small handful of jobs she may have been a part of in the DFW as of recent.  Who knows?

@Sgt, sounds good.  DFW is indeed the Dallas Forth Worth area.  If you'd like give this a look: http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Dallas/Ft._Worth

I'm basically treating the wiki like canon.  What Phoenix knows ICly is largely up to you.

One thing to keep in mind is that the shadow community in the DFW is small, around 100 runners.  That means word gets around fast, and it's one of the reason why Hopeless's Street Cred has risen so much from 1 run.  I mean, in the space of a long weekend, his team stuck it to some anti-magic racial supremacists and raided a Texas Ranger barracks to steal drugs.  Respect.

So, as an outsider, you're probably gonna need an in.  We can work that out ICly in the first post or two.

@Jack, would you shoot the good Sargent a link to our map?
