Subject says most of it.

I am wondering if anyone has any great resources that I just haven't been able to discover for using either existing minis or what people are using for minis for their SR games..

years ago there were some partha figs for Shadowrun but i haven't been able to find a good set of figs, standees or even markers for Shadowrun....

Thanks in advance.

Back in the day one of my players whittled his miniatures, but most of the players scrounged everything from Store bought specifics to Monopoly pieces and broken dice (I left it to each player to represent their character).  Ive seen the mini's you're talking about, but not since the early nineties...

Honestly I was abstracting combat to avoid the miniatures grid slowdown of D&D, but some scenes it definitely helps to have them.

I still have a handful of partha figs and the color cardboard standups that came with Shadowrun back in the day  :)

Iron Wind Metals makes and sells the old official Shadowrun models.

Copplestone makes a bunch of corporate with guns models, themed gangs, and SWAT teams.  http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/

Games Workshop plastics work in a pinch.  Imperial Guard plastic Cadians can make good security teams or military obviously.  Their Necromunda line has gangs.

Wargames Foundry has their Street Violence line.  http://wargamesfoundry.com/fantasy_ranges/collections/futuristic/street_violence/

Corvus Belli has a sci-fi line called Infinity with cool drones and what could be troops in FFBA.

What I used varied from time to time.  I've in the past used a battlemat and minis (still have that box set of 3rd Ed Ral Partha, which are prolly pretty rare by now), with pips to represent baddies.  I've also used a whiteboard to show where people are at the time and fudged at some of the ranges, as long as they were within what the weapons they were using were good.

Other than if you don't know what you're drawing, I've found grids speed up rather than slow down combat. It prevents the confusion of who is where, what the distances are, etc.

Personally, I have a large pile of plastic DnD miniatures, numerous pewter minis, some thick pressed-paper cutout icons, and foamboard with printouts of people / creatures double-stick taped to them for the most part. Metal bottle caps have become a favorite for grunts.

Like Savaze, I once used anything and everything.  Chess pieces, coins, dice, anything.  But now, like Jack, I use Legos.  Legos are freaking awesome.

I have actually been looking into this myself.

Heres what i have decided to do:

Firstly, i am grabbing a bag of card stands from here: http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/GAME_AIDS.html

And i am going to print out a whole bunch of character images and put them in the card stands to stand in until i can afford to buy some of that companys cheap metal and plastic shadowrunish minis.

This company makes mins for another system but they work perfectly for human shadowrun characters.
