Title: Hi Everybody. I´m Lofwyr, a brazilian Shadowrunner
Post by: Lofwyr on <09-03-10/1647:22>
Hi people.

Since this forum is new, i´ve just registered with the nick I use on many foruns since i´ve discovered Shadowrun.

I´m a brazilian player and my only contact with Shadowrun was the old SNES game long time ago. Some time ago i´ve just found some Shadowrun novels in brazilian portuguese on a library. Just loved the setting and bought some books of 4th Edition (including the Anniversary Ed.). Having much fun DMing Shadowrun for my friends since then.

I hope to contribute to the forum as much as i can, and, of course, be helped with some doubts and questions. But everything in the right time. For now, it's great to have this official forum.

Greetings, Lofwyr!   :D  Given that there's going to probably be a lot of these posts for introductions, I think I will use this one to introduce myself.  My name is Mike Wich, and am a Shadowrun Freelancer.  I've been, up to this point, more of a lurker on other boards.  But I intend to be a lot more vocal here on these forums, hopefully posting my own fan fiction, run ideas from my own gaming group, etc.

So, a little about me: I've been playing shadowrun for over 7 years.  Members of my current gaming group introduced me to third edition, and I've been playing it ever since.  I became a freelancer back in 2009, when I wrote Spin Control, one of the upcoming adventures in the 3rd season of Missions.  I've worked on a couple of other projects that have since been released, including 10 Jackpoint Users (the Lyran and the Kay St. Irregular entries) as well as the awesome 6th World Almanac.  I have other things in the works, but you'll have to wait for those to come out.   ;)  I am very enthusiastic about the Shadowrun gaming world, and am looking forward to sharing ideas here on the forum.

Decent enough idea.

I'm JadeHellbringer, real name Brian Bunch, and I'm a returning 'runner. I played back in the 2nd ed. days, but my old group in Denver dried up on me. (Granted, we were in high school back then!) It's been nice to dive back in the past few months and re-learn a game I've long had a lot of affection for. Currently I'm living in Fairfax, VA, working for the UCAS U.S. government. And that's about all you need to know about me.  ;)

For those who also play Battletech, yes, I'm the same guy who has been a forum regular for Battletech for eight years, and a moderator for five of those years there as well. Shadowrun is a second love, but by no means a lesser one for me- Battletech has just been a much more stable one for the groups I've been part of.

It's a pleasure to meet you all, and I look forward to sharing the forums with you!

Its been a favorite ever since.

*wave*

Why not, since all the kids are doing it.

My names Bull, though on occasion folks refer to me as Steven Ratkovich.  I've been Playing Shadowrun since 1st edition.  I joined the ShadowRN mailing list in '96, and have been causing havoc ever since.  I started attending Gen Con in 1997 where I had a fortuitous lunch with Mike Mulvihill, and was invited to become a playtester for the upcoming Shadowrun 3rd edition.  I became a freelancer shortly after that.  In 1998, I attended Origins where I ran a Shadowrun: The Trading Card Game tournament and helped write and GM the Shadowrun RPG Tourney.  I also GMed SHadowrun and Earthdawn at Gen Con that same year, and the following year I ended up taking over SR Event Organizational Duties at Origins, and ended up with both Origins and Gen Con in 2000, and did that until 2003, when I stepped down.  I was also one of the original founders of Deep Resonance (Which later became Dumpshock).

And then earlier this year, I became the Missions Developer, and have been scrambling to fill those shoes ever since.  :)

I'm old, crotchety, and still say Drek and Frag, and I prefer dirt covered chrome and neon over shiny white surfaces and lens flares (Even if those are just barely covering up the dirt).

Greetings and Salutations everyone.

I'm Nomad.  In reality, I go by the name of Matthew Gross.  I've played Shadowrun off and on since 2nd edition, with the emphasis unfortunately being stuck on the off position in recent years.  I'd love to get back in to the swing of playing, however, with a dearth of flgs's in my part of the world (Central PA), it's been hard to find gaming groups.
Title: Re: Hi Everybody. I´m Lofwyr, a brazilian Shadowrunner
Post by: Critias on <09-03-10/2152:28>
I go by Critias pretty much everywhere, though a few of you may remember me as Talondel, and fewer still as my primary fake SIN, Russell Zimmerman.   ;)  I've been playing Shadowrun since '90 or so, some times more actively than others, but it was my first RPG and has always had a special place on my bookshelves...even before I met my wife through SR.

In recent years I've stumbled into freelancing -- through fanfiction, initially -- and have been having a good time making some money on the side with what is, basically, something I already did for fun.  I've written multiple pieces for Warmachine/Hordes, Monsterpocalypse, was the primary writer for Spinespur: Threshold, did an Earthdawn piece (though one that never saw the light of day, sadly), and now I'm glad to finally be tickety-tacketing away at a keyboard for Shadowrun, after several false starts.  I still have a lot of fun writing, and scrawl out a ton of stuff that's not written for any game company, so I'll be sharing stories every now and then in the fan fiction section right here.

The last year or two has seen me swapping back and forth from freelance writing to academic, since I finally got off my butt and wrapped up my Bachelor's (one last thing we needed to get done before my wife and I could move here to Texas).  I've had some academic work published, presented research several times, and I'm currently hip-deep in working on my Master's, with the eventual plan of heading up a classroom of my very own someday.  There are times the historian in me leaks out, whether I mean for it to or not.

When I'm not sitting at a keyboard and staring at a monitor, I'm running around with my three dogs and/or my wife, riding my motorcycle, or on my way to the shooting range.  I practiced Jeet Kun Do and Kali for a couple years, but dropped it when I went back to college.  I'm hoping to find a cool dojo somewhere around here, but it's just not a terrific priority for me at the moment.  I make due with what I already learned and a heavy bag, when time permits.

Como Estas Chummers
Since this seems to be the thread for intro's...I'm Tarot, known to some as Spc. Abney, I've been playing shadowrun since 1st Ed. and I'm very pleased with what the guys there at Catalyst have done with the game (keep up the good work guys, and as long as you keep printing I'll keep buying  ;D ). I especially like the digital releases as I tend to move alot and it's so much easier to take my laptop than it is to lug around a duffle bag full of books.

Hoi Chummers,  been with the game from the beginning. Grabbed my first book 5 minutes after the first shipment arrived at the local gaming store. Lurked on SR message boards for decades occasionally posting this or that. I hope to be more active on this forum.

*waves to everyone from the BattleTech forums*

Hey kids, been kicking around with SR in various forms since I picked up the second edition at its release in '92 (although I've tried 1e and was nearly killed when I got mentally entangled in the skill web).  Kinda dropped out of the game when I joined the Army in 2004, and am just picking it back up (as in, we had character creation last week) in order to get myself and the other Cincinnati-based CGL Demo Agents up-to-speed on the new mechanics.  We'd really like for there to be additional crossover between the CBT and the SR communities, and the quickest way for that to happen is to get off our butts and start crossing over ourselves.  The forum handle is after a long-running BattleTech PC I had - I just use it across forums for easy ID and so I don't have to remember a bunch of logins.  ;)

Real life-wise, I'm a stage combat choreographer and erstwhile utility stuntman with experience in burn gigs, car stunts and high falls, as well as later-period jousting to IJA standards.  Basically, I play with swords and guns and people pay me money for it.  Which is awesome, cause I'd totally do it for free...but I'm not about to tell them that.  Oh, and I'm starting Krav Maga at Cincinnati Karate (http://www.cincinnatikarate.com/) in a week.

EDIT: Finally, I'd like to give a huge "Thank-you"-style shoutout to the guys who have finally gotten us OFFICIAL forums for SR!  Thanks!

Yup, I kicked around Northern Kentucky for about the last twenty years or so!  Married myself a Texas girl -- who I met playing Shadowrun on-line, mind you -- and stole her away to the Bluegrass, but we'd been talking about moving down here for a while.  We stuck around long enough for me to wrap up my Bachelor's up there (I knew if I didn't get off my butt and finish it at the school where I started, I'd never get it done), and literally two days after graduation I was in my truck on the way to the Lone Star state.

I had some good times with Darrian and the rest of the Cincy-region Battletech group, though.  Just wish they'd all had a strange urge to move to Texas, too...haven't had much luck finding any wargaming down here, yet.  We've got my wife's old friends for steady RPGing of various types, but my closest game store that seems active on the toy soldier front is still a good hour away.  Hard to justify that kind of drive.

Well...the Intro Thread.....cool...

Well, who I really am is unimportant, but here I am Mara, on the BT Forums, that is StCptMara. Battletech since about
95, 96, Shadowrun since 92. Handle is actually from my main Battletech character, a psychotic, increasingly mentally
unstable Protomech pilot. The name actually is used because of its connection to the hindu concept of Maya(Mara
being the Buddhist name for the same concept).

I prefer a very Pink Mohawk style of game...if something weird is not happening, then either I or my players
have done something wrong. Schlock Mercenary, actually, has become a source of inspiration....
I hate rampant house rules, and really am not fond of the belligerent culture shown on Dumpshock.

So, lets see how this place shakes out! I am glad to have a place where we know it is going to be friendly!
I can already see that by the fact we are getting Battletech Forum Cross-over!

There are, and I actually contacted one of 'em -- friendly guys! -- but the problem is that I'm a little over an hour south of the D/FW sprawl, and they're up on the other side of it.  I've already got a pretty hefty drive to make to school, it's hard to take the time (and gas!) to drive a couple hours each way to get in a game, y'know?

Well, hello there. My handle is Bisharian ( maybe it should be, Capt'n Obvious <lol> ) I am new to the SR rpg, but have played the Genesis and SNES games until they combusted in protest to my addiction. So I finally decided to try out the real deal, and ordered my SR4 core book.
I live in a reletively small town in KS and plan on venturing to my local bookstore/cafe to find some people interested in playing SR. I have always wanted to play this type of game, but haven't found a lot of people to play with.

So my hope is to befriend some knowledgable people here on the forums to help straighten a noob out.

Oh wait maybe I shouldn't say that. . . .

And no matter what Bull says about not trusting elves, ignore him.  At least with my poor little one.  She is a total sweetie and would never lead anyone astray.  Look up Midnight anytime and we can have a nice drink of elven wine.  You can't miss her she is the elf in the back with the midnight blue hair and deep purple eyes.  :)

I have been running in the shadows since 96.  Not as long as many of the old farts on here.  But it has been a fun ride. This is the game that brought me over to the dark side as a gamer chick.  Been having a blast, causing a blast and taking names.  I have had the privilege of being in many home games over the years.  And of playing missions with a great group of people at Dragon con for the last 4 years.  Gotten to go to Gen Con once last year.  And hope to make it back again this coming year.  The Scramble is incredible and I missed getting to run it this year.

Been in SR since '90 if my memory holds true. I live in Orlando and have a great home group to run with. I've Run just about every archtype in the game but my Fav's are the Classic hermetic Mage and a  Rigger (Don't get me started on the 4ed riggers >:(). I've run in more home campaigns than I can, almost, remember. Con games are awesome but for a really good RP session it's the home game hands down.
If you wanna catch me at a Con look to the shadowrun rooms or the Battletech tables. (Hi all the BT cross posters.)If you Ever make it to DragonCon Look me up, Me and TranKirsa will show ya where all the good Gamer partys are! Or you can follow us with the mobile bar. Oh and I cant forget the Atlanta Prime Runner Crew. You wanna see pure awesome in action, come watch them tear stuff up!
I'm an avid and OCD games collector and my Shadowrun and Battletech collections finally forced me to give up on bookshelves and get a huge steel filing cabinet. (Now I've out grown that lol) Hmmm what else, Oh yeah. Main online SR presence was the former Shadowlands, Thank you Dave!, Where i annoyed/amused people as Chromemonger and Livewire. After that just couldn't get into other forums so I lurked.
My one contrbution to SR lore would be the "Devil King" or as most know it by the renamed version in Year of the Comet, the Demon Rat. Speaking of writing, MikeW, thank you for  Spin Control. That was the first time I ever failed an affiliation goal due to likeing a Gang too much! I just couldn't kill those guys. lol.

I just couldn't kill those guys. lol.

Heh yeah follow him an Kali if your still alive at the end of the con you win.

Hoi, chummers . . . I'm finally getting to introductions.  I go by Longshot23 here, my name is Scott O'Connell, I'm from Australia.  My preferred character (who i STILL haven't managed to convert/rebuild to SR4) is Morgan Summers, handle yet to be decided.  Been playing since late SR2 days, but lost GM some years ago (she moved cities).

Well then,
My name is Jirka Vesely and I`m living, working and running in Moravia, part of Czech republic (you know, Schwartzkopf`s there) I play Shadowrun since first translation of 2nd ed. in 1995/6, and I upgraded stright to 4ed four or five years ago. I`m mostly GMing, and I build up some rep as always willing to run and teach the Shadowrun another interested group. Today I have a steady group of maybe 14 players across Czech rep, depeds where I actualy spend a weekend or so. I love this game, I love this setting and I am very happy that this forums exists...
As a runner I go as Sichr... simply because when a get the job, you may be sure, that it will be done.
I`d like to see some people here, like BULL, who have experiences and knowledge of Earthdawn, a system that I missed in the past because I wasnt able to get my hands on it and now its quite dificult because it seems quite confusing as I do not know, who is folowing orignal idea and where I could find some references to 6th world. I almost allways lead my runs in the mystic and history and it would be great to have something like 6th world almanach for ERarthdawn to see the connections and build them up...

Once Argent took a dump while he was eating a krill burger. Before his first dump hit the floor (he's a floor pooper), he finished digesting the kill burger, and crapped it out. That krill burger came out so fast, it actually hit the ground before the first one.

Hey, I'm Adam and I am playing in El Paso, TX. I am coming back to Shadowrun after about a five year siesta and am looking forward to teaching my players that kicking in the door is not the only way to pull of a run.

Well, looks like I should say something.

Name's John Walker II, US Navy for a few years and now settled down in Sacramento, CA for some state work, but at least twice a month I'm running with a bunch of guys raising holy heck with the craziest characters you'll find on the west coast.

Played SR 2ed with a pack of sailors and marines, managed to get into a whole heap of trouble in third ed with a short lived group in Hawaii, and now I'm here in California, married, and causing trouble in the 4th edition.

As a runner I tend towards illusionists, tricksters and stealthy, and the lastest critter I've had the pleasure to play is a changeling fox shape shifter mage, the kitsune bloodline re-asserting itself as the cycle rises towards it's peak once again. (Thank you runner's companion!!!)

I'm also on a side project, working up an adaptation of Earthdawn style magic for use in my GM's game as a way to give context to some of the shenanigans that they're up to now, because SOMEBODY just HAD to go poking around a kaer that opened up...

I do write fan fiction in various settings, with SR quickly becoming my setting of choice.
