[6ed} Question on Languages, Lingasofts

So based on previous editions and modern day translators here is a question that modern tech changes the future.

Given that there is software now that can pretty much translate voice to text and test to voice how do you handle this in SR6?

And on that thought, think of dead languages, would the same apply?

A character using a Linguasoft (SR6 p.272) installed in a Skilljack (p.284) can speak the language with a degree of fluency equivalent to the linguasoft rating, same as if they had learned the language themselves for as long as they have it slotted.

A character using a translation program installed on their commlink can probably follow along with a brief time delay — just enough to make things a little awkward. Award Edge to the other side of the conversation.

In the absence of any living native speakers, the language would have to be reconstructed. For something like Latin, which is widely studied and well understood, you could almost certainly find Linguasofts and translation programs. More obscure languages would likely not be available on Linguasoft, but you might find translation apps. Make it a Computer + Logic test with a threshold based on obscurity.
