I regret to inform you that the Immortal Elf Brightlight, aka Leonardo, aka He Who Is Incredibly Annoying, is still alive.

Other information likely includes assets most people don’t know Saeder-Krupp possesses, along with information on potential new enterprises that Saeder-Krupp may be considering for future investments. These files are believed significant enough that Ghostwalker could burn Lofwyr and Saeder-Krupp pretty decently if those files were ever to be released. It would seem that Ghostwalker has put himself in a much better position to negotiate with Lofwyr, should the occasion ever arise.

Okay, so I did some more searches (yay for searchable PDFs) and discovered the rest of the current extant of the Brightlight / Leonardo / Dr. Antonio Vieri references.

Aztlan Sourcebook, p. 66:  The Laughing Man (Harlequin) notes that a Dr. Antonio Vieri of the University of Milano has written a paper against the Turing test; Wordsmyth (Ehran) wonders why Brightlight chose Milan, thus assuring us that the former is an alias of the latter.

System Failure, p. 119: Anonymous Botch and Hugin both speak of 'the famous Dr. Antonio Vieri', several attempts at extracting 'this apparent genius', but that all attempts were intercepted by Scale - 'who acts as the good doctor's warder'.

 That's it - brief, but it's enough to let us know that alas, Virginia, that dumbass bastard is still alive, and has been working for Lofwyr since about '59.  And here I thought Lofwyr had roasted his skull to make the rest of the universe safe from people too smart for the health of everyone around them ...

The question then becomes... what has he been doing for Lofwyr?  He played a major role in the success of Renraku prior to it all falling apart.  Yet, SK has not been as revolutionary in its own matrix developments...

The question then becomes... what has he been doing for Lofwyr?  He played a major role in the success of Renraku prior to it all falling apart.  Yet, SK has not been as revolutionary in its own matrix developments...

All right-minded citizens were hoping.  However, I disagree that SK has not been as revolutionary in its own Matrix developments as Renraku was - because SK does not concentrate on the same area of Matrix technology that Renraku does.

Renraku is a software company at heart; they look at a problem and wonder how they can code it to make it work better or correctly.  Saeder-Krupp looks at an issue and considers how they can build a better gizmo that'll run the same or upgraded programs more efficiently.  Software vs. Hardware.  Let me quote again from Clutch, speaking about Vieri:

Which means that, due to the tech-sharing / upgrading and all that occurred as everyone fought tooth-and-nail to make everywhere Wireless capable, everything 'we' currently have running is something that Vieri has had a hand in designing.  I'm certain that old Gold Snout made sure that his people understood what the hell was being designed, so as to make sure that he never found SK in the same shoes Renraku was wearing in '59 (needing to reverse-engineer their tech, because only Leonardo understood it, they just replicated it).  I don't know how widespread was SK's development (beyond Europe) of the wireless Matrix, but I'm sure there was a lot of interface, lots of tech raids, and plenty of baseline 'okay, we all need to work Like This if we're going to be able to interface at all'.  SK undoubedtly made a mint off all of Vieri's 'actually, I had a thought on that' ...

Also, to prevent Brightlight from doing nasty things, I would let him only design new techs and ways but don't let him code any single line.
And I agree Ouroboros, SK ist not as heavily in software as Renraku is.

I dunno, I like it when the old troublemakers are still around to cause even more fun and mayhem. Part of the reason I want the big three AIs to be lurking out there somewhere, and why I am delighted every time I see the Laughing Man make an appearance. They stir things up, which isn't a bad thing, from my point of view.
