Title: Reputation
Post by: The Seven on <04-14-11/2320:08>
Quote from: SR4A, p.265, under Street Cred
Street Cred represents a character's lifetime accomplishments in the shadows. The longer she's been around, the more he's done and seen, the more respect she'll get from her peers.

Quote from: SR4A, p.265, under Notoriety
A character's Notoriety reflects the negative side of her reputation— how difficult she is to get along with, how stubborn she is, how many stupid mistakes she's made and failures she's had. Notoriety can also reflect callousness, untrustworthiness, and any evil aspects to a character's personality that might spur others to steer clear of her.

Shouldn't we be able to see what of our comments in the forum got applauded and which got smitten, but obviously not by whom?

I'unno, I get curious sometimes.

Ah, but you Rep scores may not be based on specific comments you make. For instance, a good portion of my negative rep is because some forum residents don't like that I chose such an obvious alias.

Point made, but I still think something could be done about it. Like seeing what comments earned you rep and how many "hits" did a specific non-comment action got you.

I'unno, I'm drunk and sleepy.

Posting on the IntraWebs while drunk and sleepy, that's worth a mark against you.  :P

It'd be kind of cool (and maybe, just maybe, could even turn forum rep into something useful and positive), but it's my understanding that the core forum code just doesn't allow for it.

Rep is like air. You don't care about it as long as it's good, and you have a lot of it.

Note: Critias (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?action=profile;u=7) Rep 168/ -8

Well, it's JackPoint style rep, and I'm cool with it. Works just fine.

I know the Bulletin forum software has the option to see which post were 'liked', with-or-without seeing who did it. Though vBulletin  has options for everything!

I've never really been a fan of them either (though I am delicate... lacking the requisite skin thickness needed for the interwebs. :P) Perhaps using the 'net total' could be done, so there is no '-' listing.

Ideally they should make it mirror Jackpoint, use a percentage based system. e.g.: 70% positive.

(And thanks to the 3 folks who pushed my button! lol)

We actually looked at that when we relaunched the new version. But it was either a choice of positive/negative OR net score. I'm a proponent for the positive/negative because it shows more detail on how people react to you instead of the net. For instance, yours would be +3 net, while the guy with +103/-100 would also be +3 net, but it would be more obvious that he's been "around the block" more, as it were.

My group's characters had a tendency of taking people "Around the block" a few times.

Their rep was intact, but other parts were not in such good shape.   :P

Okay, apparently I'm blind or my search-fu is lacking... how exactly do you leave rep for other people?

Under everybody's name are two links, one for "Applaud" and the other for "Smite." The former is positive rep feedback, the latter negative,

You just can't aplaud /smite yourself (which is totally Logical ImO  :D )
I don't like the Reputation system in SR, and I don't like it in a Forum :)
(especially if nobody can control it)

Is there a Post / Rank requirement you have to meet first? I ask because I don't see either feedback link.

(Thanks everyone for bearing with me)

Not that I'm aware of. Do you have the check box for "Don't show other's avatars" checked in your "Look and Layout" section in your forum profile settings?
Title: Re: Reputation
Post by: tzizimine on <09-28-11/1404:11>
Nope... I can see all the avatars and so forth

And it's the same on Chrome, Firefox and IE
Title: Re: Reputation

Then I'm clueless as to how to help you out. Maybe a mod could step in, or someone who has more of a clue on this topic than I do....

Thanks anyway... consider yourself applauded in lieu of no links

I figured what the problem was.. apparently the links are covered unsigned scripts which was blocked in all three browsers... all set

There is, but I can't remember if it was 10 or 20. I remember thinking the same thing when I first signed on!
