Title: Need advice on a run...
Post by: DamienHollow on <01-30-13/2346:04>
I’d like to get a little feedback on this job and suggestions for payout before I make the party this offer. And remember, this is just an overview. I'm looking to fill in the gaps.

The Party…
Jay-C: Human Rigger with a thing for mini & micro drones. Dan-O’s half brother
Dan-O: Troll Adept who throws playing cards as weapons. Jay-C’s half brother
Nadeshiko or “Shiko”: Elf Face with a decent unarmed combat.
Woad: Ork Street Sam with the sense to specialize in covert weaponry.
Waldo: AI Hacker who communicates only in text and chimes.

The Job… London Brigs is Falling Down…
This is an extraction job. The target, one London Brigs, is the nineteen year old son of a corporate executive. The Johnson wants the party to kidnap London Brigs within a week days and hold him until the end of the month (about three weeks from the start of the mission.)
The reason being the man who hired the Johnson is a rival executive of London’s father and is looking to secure a promotion which they are both gunning for. He hopes that the kidnapping of London will cause his father enough grief that he will fall behind in his work.
London’s father is not entirely unaware of the possibility of someone attacking his son and has hired a pair of troll bodyguards who possess Sleep Regulators. These two alternate watching London on a daily bases.
I’ve arranged for three practical options for extraction.
The first (and only method the party will be informed of) will be when London attends a charity event in Tokyo. If the players dig into this they will discover that he will be staying in a room on the 48th floor of the same building that hosts the event. He will be alone in the room with a single guard outside. The windows do not open.
Provided the party could dispatch with or slip past the guard, London is a sitting duck. He’s even a little tipsy. As far as he’s concerned, this is an opportunity to party
At some point during the event, London will slip out unnoticed. He’s had his customized Shin-Hyung shipped to Japan with full intention of taking part in a local street race or two. After slipping away from the event, he will immediately head for his car in the underground garage and head for the “track.” The track itself winds through a half-flooded costal region with plenty of ways in on foot but little in the way of vehicle access. There is at least one point were the track can be messed with by the rearranging of a few barriers.
London is no idiot and if he thinks anyone is after him, he’ll use his car’s chameleon coating (used most of the time to give a “water in a glass” effect which reacts to the cars movement) to blend in and vanish. If he finds himself in a chase he’ll throw on the nitrous and easily out pace most pursuers provided he doesn’t screw up his rolls.
The last and final chance to nab him comes when his flight touches down in Seattle. His bodyguards are paid upon his safe return and depart. At this point the party has to chance to simply hijack London’s limo through one means or another, or substitute an alternative vehicle.
Once the party has London they have to keep ahold of him. This won’t be easy as London has plenty of experience escaping his father’s methods of attempted control. On top of this, he thinks it’s cool that he’s caught up in a run and will constantly be quoting bad trids. Also, Waldo is phobic of Technomancers and London’s Latent Technomancy will kick in the moment the party nabs him.
I plan to throw them one or two generic runs during this time, otherwise easy work complicated by London’s childish behavior. There are also opportunity’s for London to be kidnaped by another group of runners, get in trouble with a street gang. Just before letting him go, the party will be offered a fair amount of cred by Renraku to “hand over the technomancer.” If they choose this route I plan for it come back and bite them later.

Couple of questions. Is the team based in Seattle or Tokyo? What kind of power level do you run at (how much karma and cash have they got so far)? And finally how do they usually approach their runs? Blow stuff up and shoot them all in the face or sneak, speak and spell their way past obstacles?
I ask because it seems like hiring a team in Tokyo would make more sense than a team from Seattle to kidnap the kid in Tokyo. Local talent knows the ins and outs, where to go and what to look out for better than an outside team as well as being cheaper. Also avoids customs, false ID checks and a host of other problems that comes with using outside talent, especially in Japan, where everyone not Japanese is looked on with suspicion if not hostility. Most Japanese wouldn't even deal with your team face as she is a) female, b) an elf and if foreign then that is another mark against her. Ghost Cartels has some good info on running in Japan and it isn't pleasant if you aren't Japanese.
Otherwise, sounds like it could be a fun run, though why the father doesn't have a tissue sample to track his son available to him is a little ... weird, if he is as high level as he seems.

Couple of questions. Is the team based in Seattle or Tokyo?

They've actually been doing a lot of back and forth work. Technically they started in Seattle but have enough connections to operate effectively in Tokyo and have earned a bit of a reputation for doing "international" work.

What kind of power level do you run at (how much karma and cash have they got so far)? And finally how do they usually approach their runs? Blow stuff up and shoot them all in the face or sneak, speak and spell their way past obstacles?

They aren't as big on collateral damage as a lot of teams. Dan-O chose playing cards as weapons because they're easy to hied in plain sight. Jay-C likes his Dragonfly drones a little too much but they are perfect for infiltration and he generally uses them to establish mobile security/communications networks. Woad get's a little trigger happy some times but almost everything he carries is either really easy to conceal or hard to find with scanners. He also had the sense to have some cosmetic work done after a job went south in Japan. Waldo prides himself on not being caught ("Where's Waldo?") Shiko's full call sign, Nadeshiko is an abbreviation of Yamato Nadeshiko (basically Japanese for perfect woman) so she's pretty obviously Japanese and took the Human Looking Quality.

Otherwise, sounds like it could be a fun run, though why the father doesn't have a tissue sample to track his son available to him is a little ... weird, if he is as high level as he seems.

Right... didn't think of this... Contemplating the implications...

Seems like this should be a pretty pricey run. They need to fly to Tokyo, gear up there, grab the kid and sit on him somewhere in Tokyo or else smuggle him back to Seattle and sit on him there. I'm not sure what your campaign has for a typical run payout but the extra effort of working away from home, even if it is a second home, should jack the rate up. If it was my team doing this, they'd likely wait til he returned to Seattle before grabbing him rather than deal with the hassle of going to Japan.
Lets say jack the rate by about 50-75% (to allow for bargaining) above what a typical job for them pays out. This is to cover costs like getting gear in Japan, greasing palms and potentially buying new fake IDs in case they end up having to burn the ones they travelled to Tokyo on.

Definitely a high payout. The time involved is the big thing. Even though they can take minor jobs, being stuck with the kid pretty much stops them from doing any major runs for 3 weeks.

Something also to consider is how well the Johnson wants the captive treated, especially important if the kid is obnoxious. Always show Queen Euphoria proper respect.

At least until she is done snacking on your innards... umm I mean until the job is finished. :P

If it was my team doing this, they'd likely wait til he returned to Seattle before grabbing him rather than deal with the hassle of going to Japan.

His flight back is literally on the last day of the first week, so while this is an option the players have the odds are they'll get antsy unless they ask the right questions to the right person/s. Also, if they miss him between the Trolls getting paid and getting to his home odds are they'll have a hell of a time getting past the Two Spiders in their way (one controls the "outdoors" areas of the complex and the minor buildings while the other controls the main tower which dominates the semi-arcology. This wasn't even something I contrived but an unintentional side effect of fluff that i never realized conflicted. I hope I don't actually have to deal with this but I've managed to work it out in case I do.

Cool. So long as you are aware of it. Be aware of en route snatch and grabs too. Sometimes it is easier to get a target while travelling from point A to B than deal with the security at either end. Takes some leg work and planning but saves on bullets. Good luck with the run.
Sometime you'll have to tell the story behind the quote at the bottom of your posts.

Hehe... the GM, being the other kind of troll, tried to play to my baser instincts.
The job started simple enough. Find a research facility, grab what we could, and then destroy the rest. We couldn't figure out where it was but we could ID some of the trucks that were supposed to be coming and going from it.
We had a month to do so and I was playing my Nimrod Rigger at the time (my drone being geared for range and stealth with sensors out the yin-yang) so shadowing the trucks was easy. For two weeks we watched the trucks, during this time we realized that A) they were each on a different circuit. B) they would drive for a day then stop for three C) There were about eight "truckers" per truck D) every so often two or more trucks would stop in the same place and a large object or two would be moved from one to the other.
With four trucks and a four man party there was no way we could hit all of them at once with any reliability. So the plan we decided on was this... Hit the two trucks that we've believed to be the most valuable. Truck A was a double trailer and what we believed to be some kind of storage. Truck B was what we saw the most radio activity off of (couldn't decrypt any of it though.)
At the very last minute we had a change of plans. The GM threw us a bone by having us run into an old Street Sam friend who was willing to help for a cut. We agreed with the intention that i would pursue and destroy a third truck, another with double trailers, while it was going down a rather secluded stretch of road.
Team A consisted of our Face and our Street Sam. Team B consisted of the other Street Sam and our Combat Magician. Team C was me, my Nimrod, and my Hotspur.
Part of Truck C's secluded route was nestled between a steep incline on his right and a cliff on his left. My idea was as follows... Park near the base of the cliff where i figured i would drive the truck off the road so momentum would carry him on past... Ready my Nimrod with it's twin MGL-12's... Use my Roto-drone to grease the road just before the truck arrived... Open fire with flash bangs from the Nimrod and let the driver go off the road in a panic... Once they were at the bottom of the hill i could easily deal with any survivors, raid the place, and burn the rest.
Everything went well right up to the crash. The Drivers cab and forward trailer went off the cliff, sailed on past, and smashed into the ground so badly that there was nothing left to salvage... the rear trailer collided first with the hill, then slipped back and off the cliff at a much slower speed. Instead of sailing off, it just sort of dragged along the cliff until becoming caught on a rock formation.
I ask if the trailer is within reach. The GM says yes but i have to climb up almost ten meter's of very steep rock (not enough for a climb test but close.) My Nimrod reported no radio traffic and was jamming just to be on the safe side. With the seclusion I figured i had the time. So I start climbing. Half way up the GM tells me that something is dripping from the trailer.
"Blood?" I asked.
"No, it's clear with a pinkish hue."
So I kept going and the dripping slowed. I get up to the bottom of the container and see that the doors are partially open leading me to believe that something heavy moved around inside.
GM "As you look around for an alternative you hear a loud bang come from inside the trailer. Before you can move the doors fling open and a large metal object hurls towards you. Throw Reaction + Doge or Gymnastics."
"Three..."
"The large object hurtles past you, but a cable snags your coat by the shoulder and pulls you off the cliff. You land on your back in the soft red sand right besides the large object, resist four physical damage... What do you do?"
"I lay on the ground and look up at the trailer to see if anything else is going to fall on me."
"For a brief moment you see a woman hanging form the open door before she let's out a sequel and falls. She lands directly on top of you, resist two physical..."
"Okay... resisted all... and what does she look like?"
"She's a beautiful petite Japanese female..."
"Okay, we're dealing with Renraku so I don't see why this would be..."
"She's butt naked, soaking wet, and has a fox tail..."
Not having a clue what to do with her, and knowing I need to get out before anyone caught on, I stuffed her into the back of the Hotspur (soft top's are a wonderful thing,) Sacrificed the Roto-Drone, and told the Nimrod to head for the regroup location.
As it turns out, Team A played it perfectly with a fake traffic stop for a nice controled operation. Team B remembered the "smash" but forgot the "grab." I was stuck having to explain that I snagged myself a shape shifter and forgot the rest. Best we could figure they were dabbling with the idea of an induced technomancer shape-shifter as Team A caught several animals with somewhat technopathic abilities (I vaguely remember reading about them in a rulebook somewhere.) Truthfully we never pieced it together all that well but we took our best jab, passed off everything but the shifter top our Johnson, and decided not to answer his calls anymore. The entire mess barely paid the bills when all was said and done. (GM was figuring on a fast hit and run mission done any tiem we felt like it and not a dedicated hunt.)
Anyways, the fox decides that I'm her savior and wants to be "like those cats who live in houses with people taking care of them and giving them all kinds of neat toys to play with." You know pretty much where it went from there. Fortunately, she took to handguns as toys.

Interesting. GMs like to play those sort of moral games on players, not that I know from experience  :P We've ended up with more than our share of homeless waifs that turn out useful over the years. Never a shifter though. Food for thought. Thanks for the story. The Technomantic critters are in Running Wild at the back as an FYI.

Oookay, this hasn't gone as planed...
The team accepted the job for what amounts to 48,000-55,000 a person (after lifestyle cost) depending on how they treat the kid. They also managed to get airfare. Because he is a corp-brat they got quite a bit on his back ground and the low down on the charity event he's attending.
They immediately loaded up and headed for Tokyo. Jay-C and Woad passed themselves off as business men with Dan-O as their bodyguard returning sensitive corporate property. This was their usual MO for getting into and out of the country and worked mostly because no one wanted to stir up trouble when the corporations were involved. Shiko got in because she possessed an actual Japanese SIN. Waldo, being an AI, stayed home and waited for them to set up their Satellite Up-links.
Once in town they head for their safe house. Their local fixer daylights as a dock manager and provides them with a place made from/disguised as shipping containers (replaces their usual lifestyles with, Middle lifestyle, Easy Going Landlord, and costs them a total of 7,000 a month.) Here they gear up. Jay-C grabs his Dragonflies and his special coat (has places for the Dragonflies to launch, land, and recharge. It’s also shielded against cyber ware scanners.) Dan-O changes into his classy 1920’s mobster suit and starts playing cards with Woad. Shiko changes into her kimono and starts making calls.
Everyone’s primary weapon while in Japan is typically a Nitama Sporter as it’s explicitly legal in Japan and they managed to steal a shipment of 100 a while back, so they aren’t afraid of disposing of them. (I honestly thought they would sell them after they found their Johnson dead and realized they weren't getting paid.)
Shiko gets half a hit from one of her contacts, an employee at a hostess club who plays Pit Bunny at the local street races. She informs them of a race happening at the same time as the charity event. Waldo actually thinks to check and see if London shipped anything and figures out that London’s car has been shipped by air to Japan and has just arrived. They immediately draw a connection and the rigger gets a bright idea. Rewire the security system in London's car to fry London.
The party agrees and decides that Jay-C and Shiko can handle this one alone. Meanwhile, Woad is going to investigate the racetrack and Dan-O intends to stalk a few clubs that London may be visiting on his first night in town.

*Special Note on Dan-O* Dan-O is one of the odder builds I’ve seen for a Troll. He started the game with a Charisma of 3, Influence Skill Group 4, Kinesics 6, and Tailored Pheromones 2. He was still taking penalties for being a troll in Japan. Offensively he had Agility 4, Strength 9, Power Throw 4, and Missile Mastery. Being an Adept, he spent his other 30 BP on Type-O system and by the time of this run had geared up with Muscle Toner and Augmentation 4. I obviously wanted to know what was up with this guy. A long story short, Dan-O was a barkeep/owner who refused to pay the mob their due and lost everything to a firebomb. I’m not a fan of blending Adepts and Augs, but the character concept is amusing and has been played really well so far.

Now this is where the rigger learns it’s not a good idea to try and get cleaver when he’s A) inexperienced as a rigger and B) dealing with a rigger NPC made by the best rigger in our play group. Now when I built London’s Shin-Hyung, I built it how I would as a PC with the cash. This meant I also went through my usual MO of physically removing any wireless system from the vehicle that was not absolutely needed, and separating anything that wasn't removed from the car's controls. The car could only be controlled from a single data-jack inside the car. I then connected the termination system to a password (Answer: Honey) that was asked when one tried to access the system via the data-jack.

Taking Shiko’s Shin-Hyung, she and Jay-C made it to the Skylark building and down to its garage. They found the car and immediately used the Satellite uplink in Shiko’s car so that Waldo could hack London’s car. Unfortunately they were two stories underground and couldn’t get a connection. So they tried the old fashioned way, over the normal matrix routes. Waldo then informed them the car could not be accessed remotely as it wouldn’t respond. This annoyed Jay-C.
Jay-C: “I approach the car and start to examine it.”
Me: “From what you can see the car has Chameleon coating, a turbocharger, and tinted windows.”
Jay-C: “I try to open the door on the off chance it’s unlocked.”
Me: “And an anti-theft system…”
Jay-C: “Drek…”
Me: “Unauthorized entry… Resist 10 stun, electric half’s armor.”
He resisted four and was knocked on his back.
Shiko: “I lean over him with my arms behind my back… Wow, that looked like it hurt…”
Jay-C: “Shove it… I get back up without touching the car…”
Shiko: “I don’t see how we’re going to do this. We touch the car it zaps us. But we can’t turn off the security system unless we first get into the car.”
Jay-C: “What about underneath it? Can it zap me from underneath?”
I thought about this for a while and considered the exact wording form Arsenal before deciding that the cars frame would most likely be isolated from the shock.
Shiko: “I’ll get the Jack.”
The two carefully lifted the car using the jack and Jay-C looked under it.
Jay-C: “What do I see?”
Me: “Nothing out of the ordinary… I can tell you now that if you’re trying to access the car’s electrical system then you’re going to have a hard time reaching them from underneath. Odds are they’re sealed and tucked inside the dash or accessible only through the hood.”
Jay-C: “*Sigh* Alright… I crawl back out and pull myself up.”
Shiko: “What kind of lock is it?”
Me: “Mag-lock with a key pad.”
Shiko: “I try my sequencer without touching the car.”
We rolled the dice and the Sequencer passed.
Jay-C: “Yes, I open the door and climb in.”
Me: “You see that the manual controls have been removed and replaced with a data-jack.”
Jay-C: “I plug in…”
Me: “You’re immediately greeted by a question… Password?”
Now at this point he could have easily plugged his external com-link into the car and let Waldo take over. Instead, he tried to answered the question.
Jay-C: “Uh… OneCoolDude… enter?”
The termination system engaged and gassed him with Neuro-Stun. Shiko stepped back and let the gas dissipate before calmly pulling his lifeless body from the car. She closed the door on London’s car, placed Jay-C into her car, and drove away. Completely forgetting the jack...

I'll get back to you on Woad and Dan-O latter, I need rest.

About typical. Always trust the players to do what you don't expect. Remember, you know everything that is going on while they only know what you tell them and think to ask about. Usually means you can have completely different views on just what is going on in a given scene.
Not sure I would have gone with a shadowrunner's mods to a car. I think I would have stuck to what I thought a corp brat would be more likely to have. The sort of stuff that looks good or makes people go Wow! rather than sneaky, subtle things. Was there a chance to learn the car password any time before this? Like during legwork on the kid?
Title: Re: Need advice on a run...
Post by: DamienHollow on <02-03-13/2200:13>
They really weren't supposed to even need the password. The team has a near omnipresent (between sat up links, public networks, and Jay-C's dragonfly drone relays) AI hacker who is very good and the car was still running on it's default device rating. Getting past that would have been easy for him and they've exploited this before. The moment I threw in a physical barrier they completely forgot about hacking. There was no reason Shiko couldn't have hooked up a com link to the car directly and let Waldo do his thing after Jay-C got gassed. All in all it wasn't a bad plan but they decided to cut their losses six inches from the finish line.
As for the security, I'm trying to make a point that this guy is not an idiot. He's thrill seeking, over active, immature pain in the neck, but hes not stupid. His habit of indulging in his vices (Racing>Woman>Booze and they know this) was meant to be his week point (so far they haven't even considered seduction as an option, at least not openly.) The problem is they attacked the very thing he expects to be tampered with. The only security you have in street racing is the security you bring with you. Logic dictates that if they can't hack the car remotely, they'll physically tamper with it so he took precautions.
The chameleon coating is his form of flash as he leaves it (most of the time) set to look like the car is a glass container (with a background that changes color depending on the time of day) half filled with blue water. As the car moves the water reacts as if it were real. I actually treated this as 3 slot special machinery (blend of Chameleon Coating and Pimped. Never let me have a car with more than 10 build slots...) because of how fast and how high definition the image is. If they'd wanted to steel it i would certainly understand and have worked out the approximate value of the car at around 70,000 which would be a nice little bonus if they didn't simply swap his car for Shiko's or decide to give it back to London after everything was said and done.
I supposed i should have seen this coming. Runs never go smoothly even when they go right. Still, they dropped the ball on that one.

Title: Re: Need advice on a run...
Post by: Mantis on <02-04-13/0034:33>
Well there's what they should have done and then what they did  ;). Frequently not the same. Perhaps those vices didn't really register to the players? Or they just got fixated on the one thing they could physically get to and affect without going to the kid. I still would have provided a way to get that password, perhaps through an ex-girl friend or something, just because it and the access to his car it provides could be very pivotal. Maybe on 5 hits on a legwork test or a really thorough data search test.
It could be the trolls scared them off from messing with the kid directly which is what seduction or just getting him drunk would have involved. After all if they can get his car they can get him when he isn't with the bodyguards.
Just my thoughts. I'm sure you can get them back on track again. From the sounds of things the adventure has barely started so they have time to sort out another plan and maybe try one of the other paths.
Title: Re: Need advice on a run...
Post by: DamienHollow on <02-04-13/2138:16>
Well Dan-O's leg work turned up almost nothing as London was still jet lagged at the time and hasn't gotten out and about, but he did learn that the Bodyguard would be standing out side London's room at the hotel.
Woad's work got him a detailed map of the track and gave them plenty of ideas.

They're next plan of attack is to get the kid in his hotel room, they finally had the idea to try and seduce him. The plan is kind of odd but i can see it half-working.
Seduce London.
Get him up to his room.
"Order room service" which will in fact be a call placed to Woad standing by in a room on the next floor down, dressed as hotel staff.
He shows up with a covered cart. On top is champagne, underneath are bindings, rope, and gecko gear.
Shiko knocks London out with a strong traq-patch.
She ties London up and stuffs him under the cart (he'd barely fit.)
A little later she calls Woad again, who returns with a tray of cherries and a can of whip cream  :o.
Shiko plans to answer the door, while clutching a bathrobe, take the tray, and then "ask" Woad to take the cart as it's "getting in the way."
She then plans to escape out the window with the gecko gear and then down to Woad's room using the rope as a safety line.
Once back in Woad's room they plan to disguise themselves as medical staff and London as a patient then wheel him out on a Steed drone.
Dan-O will be on standby in case anything goes wrong but will head out the moment Woad is back in his room with London.
Dan-O meets up with Jay-C whose in his Step Van.
Jay-C uses his vans chameleon coating to make the Van look like a medical vehicle and pulls up out front.
Woad and Shiko will then take London down and load him into the van. They then drive off together.
Waldo will be hooked up the entire time via a sat link in Woad's room to provide hacker support when needed.

Here's their problem, and if they even think to ask they'll find out, the room windows wont open that high up... so, any guesses as to what they'll try?
Title: Re: Need advice on a run...
Post by: I_V_Saur on <02-04-13/2311:49>
Well, I'd assume Shiko would have the gear and/or skills to break the window. That could go one of two ways - just smashing it and leaving, or smashing it, leaving torn bits of one of London's suits in the glass. Shiko blots herself with some crushed cherries, passes it off as injuries, and lets the guard know something's up. Then, not only is it believed that London  is missing, but he went A.W.O.L. after attacking a woman. Hey, convenient ambulance on site to pick her up!

You can see, of course, where certain details would be ironed out. They'll have to improvise their way out, and it could turn nasty very quickly. Especially if the window happens to be wired to a fast-response team from daddy's work.

Or they could grab the 10¥ glasscutter from pg 62 of Arsenal and maintain their stealth profile by having Shiko cut a hole in the glass to escape through. Would suck to have such a nice plan blow apart for lack of a 10¥ item.
Title: Re: Need advice on a run...
Post by: DamienHollow on <02-07-13/0102:18>
By chance, we found ourselves all in the same place with nothing to do all day. So we decided to hold the game and this is turning into a regular cluster farce… It was a long one so I’ll just sum it up.

So, day two, the charity event and race are tomorrow evening, and the party is making their second attempt. Everything goes as planned. Jay-C  (who’s still hasn’t fully recovered from the damage over flow from the car’s security system) has parked his van in a nearby ally. Dan-O’s found himself a secluded stairwell just down the hall from London’s room. Woad is dressed and ready in a room on the floor below. Waldo’s looped the cameras of floor 47 and 48. And Shiko has London in his room. She is even passing off a pimped dragonfly drone (one of Jay-C’s, who’s enjoying the show) as a broche.
Shiko places the call, Woad shows up and makes the delivery right the guard’s nose, exactly as planned, and then Shiko goes to place the patch on London.
Now before a run I always insist on a list of gear each character has and a rough idea of where it is (on their person, in a cart, in the car, ect.) Shiko promptly realizes she has forgotten her Traq-patch. Now this is okay, because Woad slipped an extra under the ice bucket.
Shiko snagged the patch and peeled off the backing. She then turned back to London and attempted to place the patch on the back of his neck. This was an unarmed touch attack against an unaware enemy.
Crit Glitch…
I decided that she accidentally applied the patch to the palm of her own hand, taking 9 stun damage after resistance. This almost knocked her out and caused her to collapse momentarily into London’s arms. Realizing something had gone wrong, Jay-C acted by having his dragonfly attack London.
Three combat turns later the guard had smashed the dragonfly, Shiko was on the floor (having just stuffed the evidence into her shoes,) and London was trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
Shiko explains that the drone was a gift and that she had no idea it was a drone saying it must have been hacked, making a beautiful roll. She also acts up the effect of the patch and convinces them to call for medical assistance. Several minutes later she’s being checked over and released by the building’s on staff paramedics.
She then calmly dismisses herself and the whole party returns to Jay-C’s van to call it a night.

At this point London’s got to be getting suspicious. His car was tampered with and was just attacked with a drone. The Guards are on alert… I want to give them the chance to still get the guy at the tracks but can I really justify him taking the risk (Vice vs. Common Sense… Vice usually wins in these case.)

Yeah it does. Also you said he was 19 so unless he is an uncommon 19 year old, he will probably still think he is invincible and do what he wants. He has those big bad guards after all, and unless someone has made an attempt on him before your runners (when he was younger), he could quite likely just write it all off as coincidence.

Actually, if he'd ever had something like this happen before - especially if it failed completely - he'd be more bold, and likely to shrug it off. "Meh, they just suck at their jobs."

Then it looks like a day at the races...

Also, look at it this way. If he doesn't go to the races and heads home early to get under cover the story kind of stops there. Or at least gets really difficult for your players. Maybe that's good or maybe not but so far they seem to be having enough trouble getting the kid when he is relatively unaware or them. Him alerted with alert guards may be more than their ill-fated dice rolls can handle  :P

I hope they get his car in one piece because they need something to make up for all of this.

They finally got him!
*Poof* *Poof* *Confetti falls*
They decided that they’d go for the simple approach this time. Jay-C stayed home to rest, Dan-O and Woad are playing cards in Jay-C’s van outside the races track, and Waldo was down for regular maintenance. The only one who was actually boots-on-the-ground was Shiko.
When London shows up (keep in mind he has ditched his guards,) Shiko walks into the meet, wearing her Moonsliver dress and form-fitting armor, finds London, chats him up, and promises him “a night of excitement” if makes it through the race.
After the race, Shiko gets into London’s car and the two drive off. They get about two blocks before Dan-O and Woad cut them off. As soon as the car stopped rolling, Shiko pulled her gun and pressed it against London’s hip.
Ten seconds later London was in the van and Shiko was changing the password on his car.
About ten minutes later they were slapping a stun patch on him to shut him up.

Yay! No glitches this time. Were they shaking their heads going 'It was that easy?' I know I've done a few runs where it seemed too easy after you take the simple solution but sometimes it just ends up being exactly that easy.

I'm honestly not sure what they would have done if this one didn't work. I could have spun them another chance if i needed to but honestly they were getting pretty annoyed. Now they just have to hold him for the next 18 days.
