Another Rainy Night now out--what's lurking on the streets of Denver?

--- Quote from: Patrick Goodman on ---AJ: Glad you enjoyed it. As of a few minutes ago, it was #6 on DriveThru's Top 100, though it hasn't achieved metal status yet. ARN's sort of the test case for the enhanced fiction line, so it's gratifying to me to see it placing well in the charts at the moment. Its sales will likely determine the probability of other works in the line...and I really want other works in the line, because there's more story to tell with Thomas.

Zuni: Fair enough. :) Thanks for letting me know you liked it.

Bought it on DTRPG - specifically because I want it to hit metal. Loved it, looking forward to more from the line and from you sir.

Patrick Goodman:
I am my own worst enemy. I've become the guy who posts reviews to his own work. It's a very nice 4-star review of ARN on DriveThru. He wasn't as enamored of the art as I am, but everyone has different tastes there, I suppose. I thought the art rocked, myself.

AJ: I have no idea what numbers go into the tiers at DriveThru. They're set up like coinage in AD&D, though, at Copper, Silver, Electrum, Gold, and Platinum. ARN hit Copper sometime during the night, which makes me feel better. By way of comparison, Way of the Adept is firmly Gold and is probably approaching Platinum; it's easily the best-selling PDF-only title the line's seen, period. The other example of enhanced fiction, 99 Bottles, is Silver. That's sorta going to be my benchmark; I'll be very curious about the numbers ARN sells in its first month compared to the same period for 99 Bottles. And those numbers will obviously include the CGL direct numbers, so I don't actually care where you bought it. I'm just happy you did. :)

Viking: Glad you enjoyed it. The piece I'm working on now is more or less unrelated to ARN, except that there might be some character's from ARN mentioned. No actual crossover...this time...though all my stories are related to each other, so it could happen at any time. After that's done, I should have a better idea of where to go next with Thomas and Lydia.

AJCarrington:
No worries...I'm happy I did as well.  I thought the art was great...actually wish it could have been in color.

Bah, we're all our own worst critics.

That is why we are ARTISTES!  *Flings hand around*

Fizzygoo:
Bought my copy today (along with a couple Missions 03 & 04 pdfs).

I really like the fiction / game info aspect of the Enhanced Fiction line. Great idea that has massive possibilities. I like the story as well, kept me reading, great build up, and really enjoyed the diner chili+coffee scene as well as the always keep a round chambered moment.  I like the original artwork of the characters in their non-heroic near-unsettling realism; it's a cognitive dissonant event that rubs raw my bias of what they "should" look like.

And dates! Oh man, dating the story is like wrapping me in a fuzzy bacon blanket and letting a dzoo-noo-qua nibble on my cerebral cortex with candle light and a good wine in a house full of loving doting fully paid escorts! It gives me, as a GM, a definitive time and place to insert the event into my campaign allowing me to add to the depth of background or bring to the forefront of my game as I see fit. Oooh, squish love for that!

The one thing that disappointed me was no Plot Hook section on how to add or connect the story to an adventure or a Background section that gave a few more GM hints as to how one should think about introducing the "We" into a campaign. Don't get me wrong...the story is strong enough that bits and pieces can be extrapolated from it easily but having some kind of quick outline that at least hints at which way things may play out in further products would have been nice.
