One of our team mates just got pinched by Knight Errant during the last run. He is being charged with accessory to murder of 10 Knight Errant officers. The prisons seem to still be run by Lone Star. Where do I find intel on how our arrested team mate would be treated, by whom, and with what rights. He has a legal SIN with no current warrants. Cheers.

Accessory to murder of 10 KE officers?  First off, he'd be given a criminal SIN.  Secondly, he might as well re-roll - he's not getting out of jail for at least 20 years.  And he'll likely run into an "accident" on the way.

But the prison is run by Lone Star, he might get a job offer. :P

They're not that dumb. That would be a PR disaster if it got out, and the public is on KE's side already. Besides, that could have been Lone Star officers. My bet is they'll put a bullet in his head and say he tried to escape, because nobody likes a cop killer.

Unfortunately I don't have the book with punishments from 1st edition around right now, left it at my gf's place because I usually only check it there. But I'm pretty sure 10 counts of Accessory to Murder will net you life.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!

That's what I figured. In our campaign there seems to be some sort of effort to discredit KE, or perhaps internal politics, who knows. Our team mate is not guilty, and has info on who really did commit the crime. His chances of surviving the week are slim to none. The actual killer wants him dead, and my guess is KE just wants to avoid the PR nightmare. Cheers, chummers.

I guess your team should pull all resources and get him out. A-Team status.

While it is an older book, Lone Star is still the go-to for police procedures and the like. Street Magic has more on what Awakened prisoners are treated to, and TMs are lucky if they're treated as good as mages.

But accessory to 10 counts of murder? That's going to be nasty. Your only hope on getting him out is to find out when the prisoner transfer from KE to Lone Star will take place, and find a way to sub in for the Lone Star crew (or, if you're feeling Pink Mohawky, attack the vehicle in transit). At the very least, your guy is going to have to invest in some minor cosmetic surgery to change his face, and a suite of new fake SINs.

Yeah, its a serious frame up and total snafu for our team. A mind probe of this character would prove particularly embarrassing for some very important Seattle figures.

Working on the plan now. My character is a Dwarf Ex-Convict who escaped from Siberian prison before becoming a Merc. The character who is in prison is an adept sniper who has maintained a clean SIN for years. The team is working on the A-team style rescue, first with the hiring of a lawyer, and possible infiltration scenario. Researching intel about the SR world to get clever ideas before going totally pink mohawk.

The lawyer is a good first step - get someone inside the prison to talk to the "client" without anyone else being able to hear the conversation (legally).  Then the sniper can make sure to be in the right place at the right time.  How did your dwarf escape a Siberian prison?  That might give you some ideas on how to handle it in Seattle.

Here is a list of famous prison escapes over time.  Wikipedia seriously has information on almost anything.  Some of the ideas won't be feasible, but they should give you some ideas as starting points.

If your team has access to a nova-hot decker/techno, it would be worth pulling out all the stops on the matrix side --- but keep it subtle, a direct assault on KE or Lone Star isn't going to fly. But, info gathering on the real culprits and providing an overwatch for your lawyer and for when you get your team-mate out is going to be key.

Depending who did the frame up, you may be able to work with someone from KE or Lone Star that want to find the truth out. If someone one inside is framing them, one thing that KE will hate worse than a cop killer is a KE/Lone Star that is killing cops!

Getting a journalist or media person on your side might help too --- PR can be king in certain situations.

Is this part of a campaign (the frame-up) or was it just bad luck for your team?

If it's a frame, then there is someone important who will benefit from having the information (whatever it might be) released, just as there's people who want to silence your team mate.  Find those potential allies.  Having back up (assuming they can spring the guy) will be invaluable, no matter how 'under the table' it might be.

Great advice Cantrip, cheers. The frame-up is definitely part of the campaign. We don't have all the pieces yet. My last character got fragged trying to get intel on who is behind this conspiracy. One team mate nearly drowned last session. Have a harsh GM who makes us earn each victory, and pay dearly for stupidity/carelessness.

PR is a solid angle. Will look into this.

Cheers Bruce. It's a good point. There may be a possible ally, a captain in KE who we assisted last run. The frame-up and the last run seem to be tied together. Thanks for the advice, Chummer.
