It was an option in Virtual Realities 2.0 to make the equivalent of Desktops, rather than Laptops for Deckers.

Not really. Imagine a Commlink is like a kick-ass Smartphone that can do anything that a Laptop can do. A Deck is like a Laptop. The Breadboarding allowed you to make a PC - cheaper than a Deck to make, but pretty much the same. Nexus are more like Servers.

No, they have a generic no-name brand version now after it got bought out.

I have no more interest in it as well.  After I electrocuted myself a handful of times or so, I don't really want to play with electricity that much.  But I still miss it.

I like Decking, but the rules for it give me headaches. Of course, having read through good portions of the earlier editions, I count myself lucky it isn't more difficult than it already is.
