Quote from page 2 of "Anagtomy of a Shadowrun"

Quote
Matrix Overwatch
With the description Riser provided, Ladybug, their team technomancer who is accompanying them in VR, tries to locate the target’s AR profile. She knows this will take time given the location and the crowds. She decides to augment her Scan through threading. In hot sim VR she receives a +2 modifier to all her Matrix tests; so she rolls Software 3 (Threading +2) + Resonance 5 with +2 modifiers for a total of 12 dice. She scores 2 hits.

Why, in the above quote, is Threading "+2"?  I get Software 3 (it's her rating in software), Resonance 5 (her rating in Resonance), and +2 modifiers (her hot him "+2"), but i don't get "Threading +2".  Threading is an "act", not a skill or attribute, so how does it get a rating at all!?

looks like she has a threading skill specialty for the Software skill from the way that's written but I'm not really an expert on that.

my guess would be the normal +2 for hot sim
Whenever I am at a loss for I should do, I ask myself what would Michael Weston do?

As  GRaske already mentioned, it's a specialty. It's written in the same notation that is used for other specialties on the same material.

Where can I read about threading skill specialties?  Does this mean under the skill "software" that the character specialized "threading"?

So you can spec the software skill with threading? Doesn't that mean you'll almost always gain a +2 when threading anything? Also, isn't that kinda cheesy?

No more cheesy than somebody getting a +2 when the specialize on Assault Rifles.
Power corrupts.
Absolute power is kinda neat.
