Title: SR6: A few Gun Questions

I am reading through the books, and I was hoping you might indulge me with a few firearm  questions.

1) In Firing Squad (pg. 17), the Colt Agent Special says it "fires heavy pistol rounds".  Does this mean a character with a Colt Agent Special (Light Pistol), Colt Gov 2076/Manhunter (Heavy Pistol), and the Cobra TZ-100 series (Submachine gun) need only buy Heavy Pistol ammo?

2) It doesn't look like Ares has any submachine guns, and few entries in the other categories.  Is there more weapons in other books?  Colt and H&K appear to have better series than Ares (the premier weapons manufacturer).

3) The Ares Light Fire 70 and 75 are exactly the same (except for smartlink in the 75), especially in availability (both are 3L).  Previously, the 70 was marketed as a civilian weapon and the 75 was for pro security and governments.  Why is the 75 not illegal?  In contrast, why isn't the 70 Avail 1 or  2?  At the moment, they are both have the same availability (and damage and modes and attack ratings and ammo).

4)  It is noted in the Colt Gov't/Manhunter description that people are shying away from electronic firing. Shouldn't we have more options without wireless capability due to this concern? 

5)  Where are the Carbines?  There are only 2 in Firing Squad, but there is a large side bar about them.

6)  Does Firing Squad have about the same amount of weapons and gear as Run & Gun had?

If my memory serves, Colt is a brand owned by Ares.

Well, it's not like it's milspec technology.  Nor would it make a world of sense to be illegal, since so many other smartlink equipped guns are already on the civilian market.

Hackers already have it hard enough when you can just turn off wireless on your gear.  Why do you want to make their lives even harder?

It's an optional rule introduced post-Core rulebook... so you can go back and decide which of those CRB rifles you'd like to count as carbines.

Well, it's not like it's milspec technology.  Nor would it make a world of sense to be illegal, since so many other smartlink equipped guns are already on the civilian market.

Interesting.  The 75 was Illegal in 5E due to the silencer and smartlink as a standard offering.  The 70 was listed as the "dumb down" civilian version, so it was just License required.  This take on it felt a bit better, and it made sense having the 75 a little more tenuous if stopped by Law Enforcement or Corporate Security.

Hackers already have it hard enough when you can just turn off wireless on your gear.  Why do you want to make their lives even harder?

LOL!  I just thought the "old stock" offerings in Street Lethal were kind of fun.  It provided the same power at a lower price point due to not having the whizbang add-ons.

Firing Squad has several modifications that could be seen as turning an assault rifle into a carbine. Shortened barrel gives shorter range but better concealability and short-range accuracy. No stock/folding stock/collapsible stock all are similar in making a weapon more focused on short range at the cost of long range, and more concealable.
