The novel I'm writing took me over a year, isn't over with, and this Shadowrun story has distracted me.

I'm just glad I'm not dealing with John Ringo's "Wanker Story" equivalent.  :P

I don't think I've ever solidly written for that period of time - most of my stuff brews and forms, and then I write it down in one period of writeyness (as one of my old friends used to say). That's not to say that some of it needs to go back and be redrafted, etc. ;)
