I don't have the book that gives the details on Ally spirits in 5e.
From various threads I understand that it requires an initiate level for the Familiar Metamagic.
I wanted to plot out progression on a character I very much want to play and the core book only has rules for binding spirits but I kinda wanted something more of a guardian spirit, an Astral Chewbacca.

The rules are in Street Grimoire (which has a lot of goodness for any magician)

Thanks,
From what I'm reading on Spirits, am I right in understanding that the spirit can only perfomr spell actions using spells the summoner has?

If this is the case, does that make an Aspected Summoner extremely useless for utility casting?
I can summon something to look out for me, but if I wanted it to cast a spell or do an action other than, "Hit that Guy", i'd need a spell list of my own?
