I am curious.
Mine come from pictures I see, TV, and sometimes dreams.
-
Places you never, ever want to see.
-
From all-nighters powered by my grandmom's mead and anime.
-
Your grandmother watches anime? I'm truly impressed. Or does she draw it? Own?
-
Healthy doses of Ghost in the Shell, Mirrors Edge, Blacklight Retribution, and Samurai Jack.
-
Supernatural, 24, Burn Notice, MI: Ghost Protocols, Nikita (1st season only), and most recently, Indiania Jones, with the corps playing the roles traditionally given to the Nazis. oh, and a bit of 24 days later.
And that was just last run...

Uh, no, I meant... Are you just trolling me now? :D

William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Vernor Vinge, Philip K. Dick...

A couple of them.
One with Peta Wilson, one with Maggie Q.

Were they any good?

I enjoyed the one with Peta Wilson.

Huh, I wonder if it's on netflix. Her not being a drugged out, murdering, pharmacy robber is a weird shift though.

Cop, crime, and lawyer TV shows. The grittier the better. The Wire and the Shield were my all time favorites. I try to find sci fi novels with lots of planetside stuff in them too. Just finished the 3rd Takeshi Kovacs novel, which was excellent. (Sadly the last one according to the author)

Loved the Kovacs stuff, but they seemed to get less awesome each book. Still enjoyable, mind you, but Altered Carbon was immensely better than the other two. Thirteen definitely had me thinking SR.

Most of my ideas come from real life.
I read the world news, economic and science journals.
I find that with a little imagination, today's events make great, fun, scarey, f**ked up shadowruns to amuse and terrify my players

Truth is stranger than fiction.
It's where the folks who did Leverage got their ideas. But they had to tone things down to make them believable! (They also confessed they're Shadowrun Fans and that "Leverage Consulting & Associates" is just a Shadowrun team that made it big and does Hooding runs.).
