The Team:
Chang - Longest team member and most experienced shadowrunner.  A Chinese Wujen detective in the service of the Jade Emperor.  Currently dealing with the discovery of a past life as Magistrate in ancient China... a ghost hunter with imperial backing who lost his family to the spirits of the night.  Also a part time member of the Black Lotus Triad and beloved (mostly) partner to their leader, Meng Poh.
Tex  - Chinese Cowgirl Gun-Fu Orc.  Former Lone Star detective, currently wanted for the murder of a hero cop 'Snart Jnr'.  Also the current protector of the Tacoma Orc Underground.  Shoots from the hip and tells it how it is.
Zero - Mysterious Japanese infiltration expert and superb sniper.  Has a connection to both the Yakuza and at least one megacorporation.  Occasionally suffers from severe paranoia.
Professor - Powerful Mage, former Professor at the University of Seattle, recently the meat puppet for a powerful shadow spirit Despair.  Believed dead by his team mates, he is currently under the care of Papa Brogan, shaman for the Spirit of Seattle.
Prim - Sister of Clips, a team member recently killed in battle with Despair.  From the Tir, a Social Adept and rebel at heart.  Determined to protect her family, she had come to Seattle to find Clips.  Unfortunately, she has arrived too late.
Zombie - Street Racer, Rigger and Decker, Zombie is a creepy new addition to the team.  Bitten by ghouls, carrying the infection inside her, Zombie shuts the world out with her biker leathers, helmet and belligerent attitude

Previous Team members
[/b]
Walker - Former Ares Arms executive, he was betrayed by someone within the organisation.  Using the shadows identity, Walker, he sought to discover who betrayed him and gain some vengeance.  Recently retiring from actually running the shadows, Walker has gone into hiding, and now uses the team as his weapon of vengeance.
Sparks - A young mage from the University of Seattle, Sparks had a wild side and then some.  When she fell in a three-way battle with Hands of Five terrorists and an Aztecnology Fast Response Team, the team mourned the loss.  But when her father, Cpt Snart of Lone Star, began a crusade to avenge those he deemed responsible for her death... that's when the trouble really began.
Clips - A new addition to the team,  this Elvan weapons adapt was to be the extra edge in the struggle against Despair and Snart. Clips made an impression on the team.  Unfortunately, in the most recent battle with Despair, Clips was killed, torn to shreds in powerful explosion.
Shadowhawk - Elvan Chaos Mage who specialised in Mental Manipulation.  A genius and the master of strategy, Shadowhawk helped guide the team through many runs and built their reputation.  Unfortunately, his past deeds came back to haunt the team, and for once Shadowhawk was one step behind at a crucial moment.  Caught out in the open by Despair, Shadowhawk was incinerated by her foul magic.

Important NPCs
Frakker - Orc Fixer, he helped get the team start in the shadows and gain its reputation.  At first all about the money, Frakker grew close to the team, even revealing his secretly domesticated life that he shared with his younger brother who he was paying to get through law school.  Alas, he was kidnapped by Cpt Snart during his crusade to avenge his daughter and was part of a foul blood ritual which bound Despair to Cpt Snart's memories of his daughter.  Having lost an eye and arm to the ritual, Frakker was rescued by the Team.  Walker and Shadowhawk even paid for his cyberware... but always thinking ahead, Shadowhawk also organised for a microbomb to be placed in the new cybereye.  Eventually Frakker discovered the betrayal through the intervention of Mel Cosi, Ares Arms Seatle Division head, and launched his own ambush on Shadowhawk.  The ambush was timed to occur the same night the team was attempting to ambush Despair and triggered events which resulted in the deaths of Shadowhawk, Clips and apparently the Professor.  Frakker survived thanks to his cyberware and was rescued by Mel Cosi and Ares....
Mel Cosi - Once seen as a connected, up and coming, young executive in Ares Arms, Mel first replaced Walker and then Karen King, to become the Ares Arms Seattle Division Head.  A young man, well liked, he has also used this position to become Chair of the United Corporate Council of Seatle and for all intents and purposes, the most powerful man in Seattle.  Mel's relationship with the Team is both as an occasional employer and sometimes rival.  What Mel is really up to... the team is yet to determine.
Papa Brogan - Survivor of the Night of Rage and the massacre on the Tacoma Docks, Papa Brogan is the spiritual head of the Tacoma Orc Underground.  While protecting his people is his number one concern, it has been recently revealed that he is the shaman for the Spirit of Seattle.  With the city endangered by both spiritual and physical threats, Papa Brogan will need the team now more than ever.
Rosie - Owner and Waitress of Rosie's Diner, a small diner on the outskirts the Redmond Barrens and Bellevue.  Warm and friendly, this part-time decker's heart is as large as her ample girth.  Particularly smitten by the Professor, who she sees as the man who saved her neighbourhood from a gang war had the hands of the would-be gang lord, Khan.
Spirit of Seattle - only recently encountered in the sewers of Tacoma, this spirit represents a growing self-awareness in the spiritual energies of Seattle.  Powerful, but only newly awakened, this child-spirit is already bruised and weakened from the horrors that have befallen Seattle since the awakening.  The Spirit of Seattle recently aided the team in rescuing Chang from a Shadow realm in the metaplanes... in exchange for a future favour...
Quentin T. aka QT - Deceased... for now.  Knight Errant bodyguard for Mel Cosi by day, assassin and serial killer by night.  Linked to the mysterious Reaper fixer who tried to sell a dirty bomb in Denver.  Also linked to the assassination of a Mr Johnson who hired the team to infiltrate the Renraku Acrology.  When finally captured, his head exploded from a failsafe cortex bomb.
Special Agent in Charge Morgan - FBI agent who hired the team to infiltrate Denver and prevent a dirty bomb from being sold to a policlub terrorist / shadow spirit Glennis Shard.
Glennis Shard - Shadowspirit in Denver.  Was in possession of a humanis policlub 'Unity', but also lead a gang of ghouls 'Tre Ates'.  Seemed to feed of violence and many of her actions were focused on increasing racial tensions in Denver, particularly against the Chinese.  Was defeated and imprisoned by the team in a magic scroll currently in the possession of the leader of the White Dragon Triad in Denver
Pawl Shaggy Mountain - former leader of the Cascade Orc tribe, a powerful tribe in the Salish-Shidhe Council and rumoured to control all overland smuggling routes in and out of Seattle.  A Troll Bear Shaman, Pawl smuggled himself into Seatle to warn the USAC government of a plot against the city by his own people.  Poisoned by QT, he went into an uncontrollable berserker fury, ruining his chance to warn the UCAS agents.  Currently in an induced coma, his condition unable to be cured, in the secret custody of the UCAS.  He was disposed as leader of the Cascade Orcs by 'Swims-in-Darkness' while in Seattle.
Swims-in-Darkness - Cascade Orcs leader, this Shark Shaman has made the tribe far more militant then previously.  Controls both smuggling routes in and out of Seattle and the Uranium mines in the Cascades.  Linked to both the assassination attempt on Pawl Shaggy Mountain and the attempt to sell a Dirty Bomb to terrorist in Denver.
Colonel Gajeway retired - Former head of the Metroplex Guard, Seattle's only military presence, Gajeway was somehow involved in Walker's fall from grace in Ares, and was in Denver and allied with Glennis Shard while the nuke sale was occurring.  Currently a personal advisor to the Governor of Seattle, Gajeway has also been linked to the secret leaders behind Humanis Policlub activity in the city.  Also has a good business relationship with Mel Cosi.

Previously on Shadowrun 2050...

The team was still reeling from recent events and their ongoing struggles against the powerful shadow spirit, Despair.  The last encounter had left them with a powerful enemy in Lone Star, the Department of Paranormal Investigations Division Head, Cpt Snart; and had, as far as they knew, cost them the lives of three of their teammates, including their leader and sponsor, Shadowhawk.

The gloom that had been oppressing Seattle was gone for now, and the streets were once again a hive of activity.  Summer had finally arrived and people were out and about and enjoying their new sense of purpose and life.

Lone Star's crack down on the barrens was lifting.  Expensive, it couldn't be maintained forever.  Cpt Snart's DPI's influence seemed to be waning, his special squad less active.

Detective Claudio, the team's only allies in the DPI, was still missing and the team could only fear the worse.

Not long after Shadowhawk's 'death', a stream of dirt hit the shadownet on Snart.  But while Shadowhawk's artificial slander did some harm, Lone Star responded with its own propaganda.  Cpt Snart was the cities protector, sacrificing everything, even losing his family, to protect the city from the evils of the awakening.  His dead son was quickly becoming the unofficial mascot of the campaign.  'Do it for Snart Jnr.'  'what would Snart Jnr want you to do' etc etc.

The team's old detective agency, Shadow Hawks Investigations Detective Agency, was shut down.  Snart didn't know that Shadowhawk was dead, and so they had raided and then closed down his agency.

Ares remained powerful, going from success to success.  The most recent move, pulling down an old church in downtown Seattle and replacing it with the world's largest Weapons World SuperStore!!!

Currently basing their operations out Chang's old apartment/detective agency, the remaining team members were keeping a low profile.  When a contact of Tex mentioned that someone was looking for Clips, Tex wisely decided to avoid the obvious trap.

When Zero went drinking with his old buddy, a Yakuza enforcer. Zero's friend mentioned that a fixer, Eve Donovan, was looking for info on Clips.

Scene One - Rosie's Diner

Zero organised a meet with Eve at Rosie’s.  It was a public location and one the team knew well.  Tex was against the met, she felt the team needed more people before it started something new, but she still accompanied the team, sitting in the car as backup.  Chang came as well, circling the block, avoid the local gangers and entering the diner from the back alley.

A beefy man in only a pair pants and a 'kiss the cook' apron' greeted Chang as he attempted to enter.

"What's you trying to do?  We don't hand out scraps until lunch.  Now shove off'.

"I am one of the heroes who saved the city from the gang war and Khan"  Announced Chang rather proudly.

"What tha?" A bushing eyebrow was raised. "You one of the Professors' boys then?"

"Sure" remarked Chang, disappointed that he wasn't remembered.

"What do ya want then?" asked the 'cook'.

"I just want to watch a meeting out front from the safety of your kitchen".

"Alright then, seeing how you’re working for the Professor.  But stay uot of trouble, I is cooking here."

Chang avoided the spitting fry pans and cooking soycakes and syntheggs and watched what was occurring in the diner.

Zero, in his swish Japanese business suit, entered the diner.  He recognised that Rosie woman, the large lady moved quickly among her patrons, refilling coffee cups and bringing out dishes.  Most the patrons were scum, working class scum, but not his type of people.  The place reeked of soy, almost enough to make Zero feel queasy.  The only patrons who stood out was a well-dressed American business woman and a young elf girl, dressed in 'steampunk' themed gear.  She looked odd, but she had a presence.

Zero sat in the booth, across from the women, and waited.  He briefly spared with the older business woman, but soon his recluse ways were irritating the younger girl.

Chang, seeing the conversation not going well and sensing the growing anger of the mystically active elf, decided to intervene.  He summoned his honourable ancestor and instructed the ancient spirit to serve tea to the table.

The diner reacted strongly to the presence of a ghostly elderly Chinese gentleman as he strode into the diner and began the tea ceremony for the people at the table.  As her customers fled, Rosie was furious.  The big woman had an impressive presence when angered and soon Chang was in the diner trying to calm Rosie.  Even Eve, the older of the two women, was angry.  "Let's leave Prim, this is a joke.'

Prim calmed her old friend down, and continued to try and get information from the two strange men.  Chang eventually broke the news and Zero confirmed it with footage of Clips demise stored in his cybereyes memory.

Prim watched her sister die, quickly but horribly, and vowed revenge.  She had been too late to say her sister, but the spirit, this Despair, would not go unpunished.

Eventually Eve left, she had other business and it seemed likely that Prim had the crazy people under control.

Prim insisted on joining Zero and Chang's group in preparation for dealing with Despair once and for all.

Tex was only mildly surprised to see the meeting had resulted in a new team member, one who thought she was the new team leader.

Scene Two - Street Racing

The roar of the crowd was drowned out by the revving souped up motorcycles.  Zombie pulled her bike to a sharp stop.  One of the gangers came up and handed her a certified cred stick.  Another win.  Too easy.  She saw the orc cowgirl in the crowd.  Strange, definitely someone who didn't fit with these gangers normally.

"You in?" asked Tex

"I'm in... for now" replied Zombie

Scene Three -  New Job?

bzzz bzzz

Chang answered the phone.  It was early morning and he was tired.

"Yeeessss?"

"Chang, its Slash"  The King's Crimson gang veteran's voice was gravelly over the commlink.

"You still looking for a bit of business on the side?"

"Perhaps, chummer, perhaps"

"Know a Fixer looking to recruit some expertise for a bit of snatch 'n grab work.  The Fixer is all class.  Me and the boys have down some heavy lifting type work before with 'em and we've always been treated all right.  This time round, the Fixer need something down a little bit more precise then what we do.  So I thought of my old mate Chang.  So you interested?"

"Yes, what are the details?"

"You need to me 'em at Matchsticks in downtown.  Password is Steward.  2 hours, so get a crew together quickly".

"Thank you my friend, I owe you"

"If this works out Chang, you sure do"

Scene Four - Matchsticks, Downtown Seattle - Early, very early Morning.

Matchsticks was a local, low-profile club with a strict "members-only" policy.  To enter, normally, one needed to either be a member or the guest of a member.  To become a member, one needed to be sponsored by a current Matchstick's member.

Chang and the team walked through the steamy streets of Seattle, an odd collection of individuals even for this Metroplex.  Chang, a Chinese detective, wore a long trenchcoat, but as it blew open, he golden armour was clearly visible underneath.  Zero wore his finest neo-tokyo styled suit, clearly corporate.  Tex, a Chinese Orc, wore her cowgirl styles clothes, leather duster, boots, and guns visibly holstered at her hips.  The new members of the team had insisted on coming as well. The strange elf girl, Prim, in her steampunk coat and large goggles on her head lead the way.  Zombie, still in her tight biker leathers and wearing a full bike helmet, took up the rear.

Saint John, a former Street Sam, cut an imposing figure as he blocked the party from walking down the stairs to the basement-level club.

"Folks, this be a members only venue"

"Where here to see Steward" Prim calmly replied.

"Sure enough" Saint John replied with a light smile. "Normally there be no weapons, but all I ask is that you folk keep it civilised and don't bother the members."

Prim nodded acceptance and the team headed down the stairs.  The dark club was clearly reminiscent of an old Jazz bar.   Only a few members where present, deep in their drinks or their conversations.  Zero made his way to the bar and ordered whiskey.  By the time Prim was able to get the Bartender to provide directions, Zero had already finished his first drink.  Prim shot him a brief look of disapproval.  She was surprised at the lack of professionalism Clip's associated were displaying.  Hard to imagine they were veteran shadowrunners.

The team was ushered to another staircase, a short, musky hallway and a solid white door.  For a brief moment they all paused.  The air was thick with tension.  Prim knocked and said the password one last time.

"Enter" a familiar voice said from inside.

Tall and athletic, Eve Donovan wore loose fitting white pants and shirt the exact same colour as her deep blue eyes.  Everything about Eve spoke of a cultured upbringing, testament to her well-tailored facade.  Prim knew Eve as an Agent to many high-ranking talents across the North American nations.  But Prim knew that Eve was also a veteran fixer her used her civilian cover to travel and meet with her contacts.  Prim also knew that Eve, originally from Switzerland, was only just returning to the Seattle scene.  Three years earlier Eve had been 'killed' during a run in Aztlan when a heat-seeking missile had struck her helicopter.  Eve had cashed more than a few old debts and had virtually rebuilt herself and created this new identity.  If Eve needed a job done, then it was likely to be big, risky and a way for Eve to re-establish her cred in the Seattle shadows.

Eve raised an eyebrow at seeing Prim there, but motioned for the team to take a seat.

Wasting no time, Eve got down to business.

"I need a team for a data steal.  The team is to locate and remove a valuable file currently in the data banks of one of Seattle's megacorps.  A rival corporation has hired me to put together a team to infiltrate and remove the file.  The rate is 50,000 nuyen each now and  35,000 nuyen on completion of the job.  My employer is interested in maintaining absolute secrecy, and will pay a bonus 15,000 nuyen each if the file is extracted without attracting any notice.  Are you in?"

"Yes" replied Prim simply on behalf the team.

"Your target is Cavilard Research Centre run by Mitsuhama Computer Technologies.  The Centre is a pure research and development facility focusing on the latest in compu-optic systems and biotechnology research.  It is located to the east of downtown Seattle in a semi-wooded area that was formerly a large park.  The actual facility is set into a hill."

"The file you are to steal is codenames "Silver Angel", and is stored in an isolated, high security computer subsystem of the Cavilard Centre.  This subsystem, known as the Executive System, is physically isolated from the main computer system.  The Executive System can be tied to the main system for limited access, but the linking can only take place through a special terminal in Cavilard's Computer Centre.  That a Decker could only access Silver Angel from the main system if the Executive System has been tied to it."

"A decker could also try and penetrate the Centre itself and jack directly into the Executive System, but it would mean that the decker would not be available to silence the security system"

"One final aspect of this job.  My employers had informed me that the run must go down at exactly 2am three days from now.  My employer is conducting another simultaneous operation against Mitsuhama and they do not want to jeopardise the success of either mission by tipping of the corp that somebody is trying to penetrate their computer banks.  Three days, 2am, no exceptions."

With that, Eve ended the meeting by handing out the cred sticks.  Now it was up to the team to do some legwork and develop a plan of attack.

Scene 5 - Cavilard Centre - Mid-Morning Day One.

Tex, Zero and Chang drove out to the Cavilard Centre.  It was as described, largely parkland with a main office built into an actual hill.  No windows.  Two visible entrances, a main entrance with large plexiglass walls and a side loading dock.  The entire facility was surrounded by electric fences, cameras and motion detectors.  Is seemed likely that motion detectors were placed throughout the woods.  Chang could not detect any magical presence or awakened critters.  At first glance, it appeared that the Cavilard Centre security relied heavily on electronics.  Chang was tempted to enter the facility via the astral, but the risk that he might trigger some magical alarms was too great.

Scene 6 - the Matrix - Data Search - Day One

Zombie and the newb, Prim, spent the day searching the Matrix for information on the Cavilard Centre.  They discovered that the facility supported a landing pad large enough for big passenger helicopters and luxury VTOLs.  Word on shadownet was that Fed-Boeing jets have been coming in at night time, flying low under the radar.  Luxury, Corp. Executive models.  Word was that Mitsuhama also had an exclusive contract with Russell Overland for deliveries.  Big military-grade trucks.  The last bit of info they managed to gather from the Matrix rumour mill was that a big piece of research data from Japan had been sent through to Cavilard and that they had been instructed to check it through and verify it.  Whatever was occurring in Cavilard seemed to mean big nuyen for Mitshuhama.

Scene 8 - Drinking with my good friends - Night One

Zero took his Yakuza buddy out drinking and plied him for information on the security at the Cavilard Centre.  Apparently security was handled by Applied Security Concepts, a med-tiered independent security firm.  They used to be number one in Seattle for the installation and security of computer facilities, but they had fallen on hard times recently.  Rumour had it that Lone Star was looking to buy them out.  ASC supplied the onsite security for the Cavilard Centre, with the exception of a Mitsuhama Security Director.

ASC rep was currently bad.  Apparently morale was terrible in the company due to cutbacks. They were down to standard gear and cheap body armour.

"If I remember correctly, about two years ago, Mitsuhama had a screw-up out in Cavilard.  One of their tech boys was stealing computer time to design some simulation for the Brits.  He was real sloppy about it, but nobody caught on.  Finally, the corp turned up the data somewhere else and checked back.  The tech split with his game and Mitshuhama scragged their Security Director.  Guy by the name of Haruhiko Blake.  You know, that damn game’s number one on the charts right now!"  The yak laughed his head off while Zero took mental notes.

Later, a little worse for wear, Zero updated the team.

Scene 7 - Buying gear and making props - Day Two

The team had the bare makings of a plan, but with so little time, it had to do.  Prim worked her contacts, and at double its normal rate, she managed to acquire a new Ares Roadmaster with rigger adaptation. Zombie also created two fake Mistuhama Corporate ID passes.  They wouldn't hold up too much scrutiny, but they would help Prim bluff her way into the Centre.

Scene 8 - Researching Haruhiko Blake - Day Two

Prim decided that they needed to find Blake.  A ticked off former employee, the Security Director no less, could give them the edge they needed to infiltrate this high-security research facility.

A Matrix search by Zombie didn't give them much.  Apparently Haruhiko Blake had dropped off the grid about six months ago. Haruhiko Blake had been a Mitshuhama corp wage slave through and through.  His parents had worked for the corp and Blake had been born at the famous Mitshuhama Wake Island Facility.  Raised in the facility, Blake's parents had transferred to San Francisco during his first year of high school, shortly after the Japanese occupation of the city.  He had enrolled in the inhouse security training degree after completing high school and had moved up the ladder quickly... until the scandal at Cavilard.  Blake appeared to have been placed with blame, particularly as the researcher had managed to escape the corp.  Out on the streets, someone with Blake's skills could have been dangerous.  But it appears he led a quiet life of despair before just disappearing...

The only clue they could find was the appearance of a Blood Blake in the shadows about six months earlier.  This 'Blood', no description available, led a new outfit called the Blood Brothers.  They worked in a number of areas, including smuggling contraband through the port, but their main deal was a high-grade chopshop, providing illegal body transplants and cyber implants.  They appeared to do lot of work with the Yakuza, but anyone with enough nuyen could obtain a compatible body part within a few hours.

It was a long shot, but Prim organised a meet with Blood later that night.  The meeting came with a chilling warning..."Blood has a dangerous reputation, his man with a quicksilver temper and little patience for conversation  niceties."

Scene 9 - Meeting Blood - Night Two

Prim took Zero, Tex and Chang to the meeting.  While Prim could have done with the extra muscle, Zombie was working on something else tonight.

The meet was to go down in an old warehouse by the docks.  Cerberus Warehouse.  A quick data search had shown that the place had closed down eight years ago.

The team pulled up in the car outside the warehouse.  Formerly used to handle the large cargo containers on long-distance freighters, the warehouse is a cavernous building.

It wasn't just raining this night, it was a deluge.  Looking through the fogged-up windows of the car, the team couldn't make out any guards or signs of security.  There were a number of homeless souls, pressing themselves against the meagre shelter of nearby buildings, but that was it.

Chang pointed out, "It is raining hard, but none of them are seeking shelter in the warehouse."

Chang's astral form left his limp body behind and entered the warehouse.  While the scent of failure and quiet despair still lingered in the astral, Chang could only see the aura's of rodents.  The warehouse, at least astrally, appeared to be empty. "Unless they have some sort of underground facility" Chang muttered to himself

Zero stayed in the car as backup as the rest of the team headed through the heavy rain and into the shelter of the warehouse.

Out in the bay, a Metroplex chopper played its light over the blackened water, looking for debris, human debris. Its arc-light eye sees through everything, even the deepest shadows.  The chopper comes close to the car, but then heads back out towards the bay.

The inside of the warehouse would have been deathly still were it not for the roar of the rain on the alumium roof.  The wharf rats stare intently at the runners who invaded their sanctuary. Empty freight containers, long rusted from years of abandonment, litter the area.  The chains that once carried and supported  them dangle from the rafters, dancing jerkily in the occasional wind. Water runs down the chains and drips into a hundred rusty pools.  The only light is dim and grey-green, filtered in through half-broken skylights and strips of windows.

The warehouse appeared empty... and then Blood was there.

"What do you want?" He demanded curtly.  Blood was tall and gaunt.  He wore his hair unstylishing long and done up in multiple brands.  He had changed, but his look matched the profile Prim had on Haruhiko Blake.

Prim knew his reputation and had only one card to play.  If she had worked up his personality profile correctly, this should work..."Where doing a run against the Cavilard facility and we need data".

Blood stood perfectly still.  Prim could tell he hadn't expected this.  But then he smile split into a large grin.

"I'll give you a few juicy tidbits chummer.  But my price is... a favour.  A mark which I can call anytime."

Prim responded "Deal".

"Good.  Here is what you need to know.  The main Matrix access to the facility is heavily protected, but there is a secondary data line that leads to the heart of the Cavilard computer system.  Its address is NA/UCAS-SEA-8206).  The room and hallway camera's frequently static-out and no one gets too concerned when it happens.  Most the important doors in the facility are protected by maglock keypads.  You will need some way to get them open.  There is also a destruct/purge system around the main datastore.  Once triggered, the entire datastore and everyone physically in the room are destroyed.  Part of this new Mitsuhama Zero/Zero Zone policy.  It can be activated from the Security Centre.  It is, however, controlled by a slave module tied into the Security Subprocessor."

Prim waited for Blake to finish.

"Remember, you know owe me and I will come and collect"  Blood reminded Prim.

The team left, back into the rain.  In the dark of the warehouse, Blood was still smiling.

Scene 10 - Russel Overland Transport Matrix site - Night Two

Zombie slowly accessed the Russel Overland Transport Matrix site.  In theory, this should be an easy run, the company only had an Orange rated system.  But, even as Zombie logged into the system, an alert was triggered.  Working quickly, Zombie upgraded her access to Security and turned off the alert before an ICE were activated.  Without a doubt, a security decker would arrive soon to check out the alert, but Zombie would be gone by then.

Accessing the contracts related to Mitsuhama and Cavilard, it appeared that ROT covered carting everything from high priority cargo to incidental supplies.  There was a job logged for the night of the run.  Exactly at 2am.  Perfect.  Zombie confirmed that any changes to then schedule or manifest would need to be confirmed with Mitsuhama.  Something Zombie did not want to do.  But changes within the ROT system and a quick edit to make it look like the Mitsuhama approvals exist, and the 2am job was changed to 3am.

Zombie then bought up the details for the shipment.  The cargo consisted on six minimally shielded containers of low-grade biohazard.  The notes advised that if contamination occurred, the worst to be expected was nausea and fever after a three day incubation period.  The vehicle assigned to the job was a converted Ares Roadmaster, with rear-sealed cargo area and tandem forward driving area.  Computerised auto-pilot, no driver.  Three technicians/cargo handlers where assigned to the job.  They were tasked with moving the materials once the vehicle arrived at Cavilard.  The new rig they had just picked up would do.

Scene 11 - Burning the midnight oil, Customising the Rig - Late Night Two / Early Day Three

Zombie began modifying the Roadmaster in her garage.  The truck was big and it was going to require a serious paintjob and new logos before it would even pass casual inspection.  Eve let Prim know where she could pick up some ex-Ares bio-hazard containers and Prim also picked up three hazmat suits.  Zombie asked for help the paint the rig, but Zero declined, while Tex helped out.

Valkyrie - This heavily-cybered Nordic warrior was a mafia enforcer, but has since left their service to try and rediscover who she is.  With no memory of how she became the chrome warrior that she is, Valkyrie now seeks the answers that only the shadows can bring.

Scene 1 - An Imperial Appointment - Morning Day Three

Chang knelt on a cushion in his small room.  In front of him, the spirit of his honoured ancestor carefully brewed a special tea on a small portable stove.  In the background, Chang could hear the noise of the team waking up and preparing for the day.  Zero was complaining about the accommodation and the food, Chang's apartment a far cry from his original abode.  Tex was sniping back, the orc offering accommodation at the Tacoma Orc Underground as an alternative, knowing full-well Zero's thoughts on that dark, musty location.  Prim had arrived, her voice clear and crisp, easily bringing the two back down the earth.  No Zombie, but perhaps that was for the best.  She still hadn't taken her helmet off in the last two days, and something about her manner disturbed the Chinese Wujen monster hunter.  Prim was talking about recruiting extra muscle with Zero, but by know Chang had stopped paying attention.

Across from him was a large full-length mirror.  In the reflection sat Magistrate Zhong Kiu.  While he had kept it concealed from the others, Chang was struggling to find balance with the 'other'... soul that rested inside of him.  Zhong Kiu was much more than a past life remembers, he had come back almost fully formed and more than a little demanding of his modern self.

"Listen to me Chang.  When I discovered what had occurred to my family, I knew the creature responsible by the seven signs of extirpate as outlined in the red branch scrolls.  Where are your copies of these scrolls Chang?  How can you be so poorly prepared?  Do you remember nothing?"

The older Chinese.. reflection berated Chang continuously.  Always judging him, pushing him.  Chang had considered discussing it with Meng Poh... but an unformed fear had preventing him from seeing her.  Sometimes the internal discord with Kiu was incredibly disorientating, and Chang knew that he would eventually be distracted at a crucial moment and his fellow team members would suffer the consequences.

As the ceremony was completed, the Jin Yi Wei appeared.  These were the personal bodyguards of the Celestial Jade Emperor.

"He will see you know Chang"

And then Chang spirit was gone.

Later, Prim entered the room to fetch the strange Chinese Wujen to discuss tactics.  His body remained, but he was clearly no longer here.  Chang was facing the mirror, upon which he had written in blood, 'Gone to see the Emperor, keep my body safe'.

Prim sighed heavily and returned to the main room.

Scene 2 - Coffee, Chrome and a Job Offer

Prim arrived at the SoyBucks.  The cafe was already crowded with suited wage slaves enjoying their Venti, Non-Fat, No Foam, No water, 6 pump, extra hot, chai tea soy-lattes.   Prim ordered a green-tea soy-latte and looked for her contact.  Towards the rear, with her back firmly against the wall, sat a tall, blond, clearly cybered Nordic woman.  Her face was vaguely recognisable.  The good little wage slaves expended effort pretending to not notice her.  It was almost amusing.

Prim, wearing her steampunk coat and thus clearly also not a wage slave, sat opposite her.

"Valkyrie?"

"Prim?"

"We need someone for a B&E.  One night, tonight and then the job's completed.  Heard you were in the market, are you interested?"

"What's my take?"

"A share of 35,000 nuyen. Seven person team"

It was a bit low, but for just a day's work?  It was ok.  At least with this 'run under her belt, her reputation in the shadows would build and more, better paid jobs would become available.

"Sure.  High violence or low key?"

"Low key.  15,000 nuyen bonus if they never know where there.  I've got a 'no kill' rule.  Are we good?"

"Yes, I prefer precision"

"Good" Prim smiled

"Excuse me citizens!  Could I interest you in some soymuffins?  We have Blue Berry Muffins today!  With super-real-like Blue Berries!"

Prim looked at the annoying waitress with an icy stare, and soon she was gone.

"What does it feel like to have real arms?"  Asked Valkyrie.

Prim was startled for a second.  "I don't know.  I never really thought about it before"

"It’s just, well, I don't remember..." Valkyrie drifted off, leaving an awkward pause.

After a moment, "Well,  let's get going.  I'll call you a bit later and we can talk gear and the plan. 'k?"

"Ok" thought Prim as she left the coffee shop, "maybe all shadowrunners are a bit strange.  It’s not like the weird Chinese mage, the uptight cyberninja or the Chinese Cowgirl Orc were any less... different.  Clips must have kept some unusual company in the shadows."

Scene 3 - Information Offered - Day 3

Zero paced around Chang's small apartment.  The Chinese Wujen was meditating in the only bedroom in this place and Prim was out recruiting muscle.  As team leader, Zero should be planning tonight's run, but he really wanted Prim around the bounce ideas.  All he had was the tusker, Tex, just sitting there, cleaning her guns and watching old neo-western reruns on the trid. As a Japanese citizen who had grown up in the warm embrace of his corporation, it was weird to be in such continuous close contact with an orc.  Japan, of course, had no one inflicted with the dread mutation.  Afflicted citizens were treated at medical facilities in the Philippines.

When is comlink buzzed, it was a relief.

"Moshi moshi"

"Ahhh, Zero-san.  It is me.  It was good, the other night, like old times.  Except how much my head hurt in the morning.  Ahhhh..."

"Yes, don't tell me you want to go drinking again?"  Zero knew the importance of giri, but with the run on tonight..  it would be difficult to spend time with his friend.

"Ahhh... not tonight.  I remember you were asking about the Mitsuhama Cavilard Centre.  Someone else was talking to a buddy of mine about the same place.  Why are you so interested in that place?"

"My friend, I am completing a run against them tonight.  Just between you and I of course"

"Hey, no problem, I understand.  Anyway, this gaijin was talking to my buddy, but lucky for you, my buddy doesn't know so much.  But they were mostly after a particular person..."

"And?"

"Sorry, I know I am distracted. It’s my son.  His school fees are so expensive.  *sigh*"

"I didn't even know you had a son"

"Ahh... I do not talk much about him.  He is a good boy.  One day he will be a successful salaryman."

"You don't want him to join the Yakuza like yourself?"

"No, never.  This life is no life. But the fees, I fear the worse"

"How much does it cost?"

"5,000 nuyen every year.  His fees are due soon and I worry I will not be able to pay them"

"It’s fine.  I will send you a credstick with that amount on it."

"Ahh, you are very generous to your old friend Zero! Domo Arigato!  Now, this gaijin, he was looking for a Neon Fever.  A decker.  But my friends know that Neon Fever is dead.  He completed a run against Cavilard, and Mitsuhama sent a team to deal with him.  They blew up his apartment.  Only his girlfriend survived.  Maybe, just maybe, the gaijin says, she has the data given to her by her Neon Fever."

"What was the girl's name?"

"Karen Whisper. But I know something my buddy didn't.  Karen Whisper works as a dancer at the Cutting Edge.  Her dancing name is Queen Conchita."

Zero quickly ended the call and updated Prim when she returned.

Scene 4 - The Cutting Edge - Early Night Three

The Cutting Edge was a disreputable bar in downtown Seattle.  This sleazy bar employed hostess/dancers, all with some form of obvious augmentation.

Prim took Zero, Tex and Valkyrie with her for this mission.  If this Karen Whisper had data, even if there was only a slim chance that she did, it was worth a quick run.

When the team entered the bar, Zero quickly made himself at home.  His rich clothes and refined manner virtually screamed 'Junior Jap Corp Executive Slumming it Tonight'.

Prim kept out of the spot slight while scoping out the club.  In a way, her steampunk gear almost allowed her to fit in with the obvious cyber-fetish scene.

Tex stood out in her cowgirl gear and orc appearance.  While she had been allowed in the club, her non-human appearance gained her more attention than she would normally like.

Prim asked about Queen Conchita and was told that she would soon be on stage.

Sure enough, the Queen was soon on, dancing out to some classic Mercurial beats.  Queen Conchita was sporting some serious cyberlegs, silver and chrome.  They were new.  It appeared that Karen Whisper did not survive the explosion which took her boyfriend's life intact.

Prim waited until the dance was over and paid extra for a private show with the Queen.

Prim was lead down a dark hallway to a small room by a large troll in a second-hand, poorly-maintained suit.  "No touchin', k?" he grumbled.

After Prim settled, the Queen entered the room.  Some light music, Concrete Dreams, played in the background.  The Sasquatch lead singer's deep bass voice gently caressed the room.

"You’re a bit overdressed", Queen/Karen whispered in a voice which could have only been considered seductive by a overly drunk salaryman.

Waiting to be sure they were along, Prim replied "Actually, I'm here on business.  It’s about Neon Fever, your boyfriend.

Karen went completely still, like a rabbit in the headlights. "Who are you with?  Are you with Mistuhama?"

"No, I'm not.  I'm here to help you.  The people looking for you think your boyfriend gave you some important data.  If you sell the data to myself and my associates, we can make sure they leave you alone."

Karen paused and considered, her eyes restlessly flickering to the door.  Licking her dry lips, she replied, "Ok, but I need 2,500 nuyen.  It’s enough to get me a ticket to Chicago.  I've got family there, maybe I can start a new life."

"Deal.  Do you have the data now?"

"No its at home.  Give me your number and I'll call you"

"I could take..."

There was a knock on the door. The large troll peered in.  "Queenie, sum men are askin' for ya.  They look like corp men.  Whats ya want ta do?"

Karen turned even whiter.  "Keep them busy Wilson, I've got to go"

"Sure thing girlie" The troll headed back to the main club area.

Zero was enjoying the club.  This was much better then spray-painting some truck with the that Zombie freak.  Zero had spent freely, and the hostess had responded.

Tex was off to the side, none too impressed with this saloon.  Then in the crowd she saw something which froze her.

Just for a moment, she saw a stranger who looked, no it couldn't be, like the Professor.  But he was dead... wasn't he?

The moment lasted less than a second and then the Professor was gone, if he had ever been there at all.  Tex was on edge, it had only been two weeks since the night at the Church.

But something else did get her attention.  Where the Professor had been moments before...  now stood a suit.  The Hispanic suite dressed like a wage slave, but the way he moved spoke of combat training.

Valkyrie had also spotted the suit heading for the back hallway and she moved to intercept.

At first Valkyrie tried to make a scene and slow the suite down.  This must the guy asking around town about Karen Whisper.

At first Louis Rodrigo was annoyed with the interruption.  “Out of my way chika!”

The tall blond woman was out of her mind.  But her chrome, he remembered her chrome and the memories a night almost two years ago flooded back to him.

It had been a recovery job.  One of the lead researchers had been blackmailed by the mob due to his... eccentric nightly habits.  Internal Security had found out that the researcher had handed over an encrypted data chip and Louis’ team had been sent in to recover Fuchi's property and clean up the mess in general.  Send a message not to mess with the Megacorp.

But it had not gone well.  The researcher had handed over the chip to a mid-level captain, and Louis and his team had made short work of his crew... until the blond Valkyrie had shown up.  Heavily cybered, she had ripped through Louis' team with a large sword.  Louis had only survived by leaping out a window while his team was killed behind him.  Needless to say, Fuchi was not pleased and Louis had only just begun claiming back his previous reputation for success.

And here she was again.  In a small strip club, protecting some sinless dancer.  Louis knew in his heart that he had seconds to act before she ended his life.

Louis drew his Ruger Super Warhawk, the larger revolver heavy in his hands.

Tex entered the fray, waving her arms, trying to calm the situation.  But Louis wasn't listening and he fired at Valkyrie point blank.  Valkyrie was fast and was able to step inside the shot and push Louis arm out.  The two engaged in a rapid exchange, which was ended when Tex double tapped Louis, splattering his head in front of the Nordic warrior.

By this stage, Louis's two team members also entered the combat. A fast moving ex-Tir elf, Silverthorn, began firing his Ares Sliver Gun at Tex, the needles darting through the air with lethal force.  Despite unloading his entire clip at short range, the orc adept smoothly dodged every deadly needle. Only her wide-brim hat was knocked into the air by the wind caused by the fast moving projectiles. As Tex moved with unnatural grace, she aimed her own hand cannon at the elf and fired.  The explosive rounds propelled the Elvan hit man backwards into a wall. Tex caught her hat and put it back on head.

Meanwhile, Zero spotted the third assailant.  A stocky Asian man, he had taken cover by one the stages.  Zero fired, using his hostess as human body shields!  Shen, the Fuchi gun-for-hire, fired back at his attacker.  Fortunately, Shen failed to hit the Japanese assassin or his female body shields as he fell to the floor looking for cover.  Zero clipped Shen in return and having seen his partners fall, the company man considered retreating to the door.  However, Valkyrie was faster, far faster.  Running across the stage, she flipped through the air above Shen.  *shick* Her 6 inch wrist blade popped out as she landed hard on the Asian company man, her blade sinking deep into his shoulder.  The blow and her physical force quickly overwhelmed him and she subdued and cuffed the last remaining enemy.

Prim bought Karen and the Troll out to the main bar area.  Most of the patrons and the girls had begun to scatter, and there was a serious mess where Tex had taken out two of her enemies with explosive rounds.  Karen was shocked, while Wilson the troll was furious.  However, surrounded with a group of obviously dangerous folks, the troll calmed down and let them leave with Karen and the prisoner.

Outside the bar, Valkyrie searched Shen and found a Knight Errant badge and an ankle-holstered Streetline Special.  So these guys were pretending to work for Ares.  Valkyrie didn't buy it for a second.  The team drove Karen to her rundown apartment building.  After walking up three floors past drunks and general trash, the team made it to Karen's apartment.  Karen quickly handed over the chip in exchange for the nuyen and then left, planning to leave the Emerald City forever.

Using Karen's now abandoned apartment, Prim and Valkyrie began interrogating Shen.  Shen revealed Louis past with Valkyrie.  Valkyrie had thought Louis had been familiar.  He had a reputation for being an enforcer for Fuchi Corp.  Louis and the team had instructions to capture the girl and take her back to Fuchi Tower.  They thought she might have info they needed for a run they were planning tonight against the Cavilard Centre and Mitsuhama Corp.

Shen had a brief idea of how the run was going to work tonight.  Three of the team would approach the facility at 1:40 am and distract the guards while the core team would infiltrate the facility.

Prim thanked Shen and the team left him tied up in Karen's old apartment in the Barrens.

Scene 5 - Bellevue - 1:40am - The Ambush
The team rolled out to Bellevue with the Truck and Zero’s car.  Bellevue was to the east of the sprawl’s heart, and while more wooded, it was perhaps the most prestige’s of Seattle’s divisions.  Many of the mega corps had their offices here, including Ares, and thus Lone Star kept security tight.
The road towards the Cavilard Centre was lightly wooded.  The team scouted out the road and took positions, except for Zero.  The Japanese cyber-ninja had his own mission to complete.
Prim walked out to the middle of the road and laid down.  This part of the plan was risky.
A few minutes before the designated time and a sports car cruised down the road. In the car where three girls, dressed to party.  They looked like they had a wild night planned.  When they spotted Prim, they swerved and slowed down.
In that brief moment, Tex and Zombie opened fire from their concealed positions, there stick n’ shock rounds slamming into the driver and her front passenger.  The two girls screamed and twitched from the electricity coursing through their bodies.
Valkyrie tore out of the undergrowth and charged the car with her claymore.  The rear passenger, a tall blond woman flicked her wrists and inch-long razor-sharp blades extended from her fingers.  Her eyes briefly glowed in the dim light interior of the car.  Valkyrie and her street sam rival exchanged a series of rapid blows from the back of the convertible.  Valkyrie was somewhat surprised by the skill displayed by this ‘party-girl’.
Suddenly Valkyrie felt her body burn inside as her blood began to boil.  Magic!
Prim stood up and sensed that the mage in the Fuchi team was missing.  Yelling out, empowering her voice, she demanded that the mage show herself!
Zombie sprayed the back seat of the car with stick ‘n shock and the mage appeared, twisting from the electrical shock.  The hacker was also revealed, a short blond wiry coward.
The team quickly subdued the entire rival team, cuffed them and dumped them on the side of the road.  Prim took out a hidden vial from her steampunk jacket and applied Laes to the downed team.  The mysterious Tir drug would ensure that they would forget everything.

Scene 6 - Bellevue - 1:40am – Zero Infiltration
Zero scouted the fence to the Cavilard facility.  Suited on wooded acreage, the facility’s grounds should be easy to infiltration.  The motion detectors and hidden camera’s suggested otherwise.
Zero found a tall oak outside the fence line and quickly scaled the tree, leaping from branch to branch. Crouched on a tree branch, Zero activated his chameleon suite.  He faded from sight as he hefted his grapple gun.
Taking aim, Zero triggered the gun and a long, thin rope shot across the top of the fence and hooked into a tree on the inside of the facility’s grounds.
Climbing across the rope, Zero flipped to the ground.  Moving quickly, Zero darted from tree to tree, avoiding motion detectors and cameras with trained ease.  Suddenly he paused.  Two large, brutish hellhounds were patrolling the grounds.  Zero remembered his training.  These dual-natured creatures could perceive his ‘aura’, his life force as Zero understood it.  His chameleon suite would be useless against this monsters.
Taking his dart gun, Zero loaded it with neurostun.  Taking careful aim, he fired.  The two creatures soon fell to the drug.
Moving past the slumbering creatures, Zero reached the facility.  He was at the executive car park.
Zero took the detonating cord Valkyrie had given him and laid it under an executive’s car, against the fuel line.  Prim and Zero had discussed this earlier and Zero had decided that they would potentially need a distraction on the way out.  Prim had agreed that Zero should infiltrate the grounds in advance and set the distraction up.  Since Prim had joined Zero’s team, she had proven a source of excellent support for Zero’s ideas.
Job complete.  Zero headed back to the tree, climbed back over the fence, cleaned up all the evidence and headed back to the meeting site.

Scene 7 - Bellevue - 1:55am – Roll Out!
When Zero returned, Prim gathered the team and went over the plan one last time.  The only alteration was they now had the convertible from the Fuchi team.  Bonus.
As the team moved out, Prim wondered how her new compatriots would hold up…

Scene One – Chang Returns
Chang woke with a start in his dingy old apartment.  “How long have I been gone” the Wujen wondered to himself.  Had he missed the mission?

Seeing the time, Chang contacted Zero and Prim.  Prim quickly adjusted her plan as the Wujen drove up to the meeting site.

Looking at the unreliable mage, Prim threw a hazmat suit at him, “Put this on, your riding as part of the delivery crew.  Zero, do you have your suit?  You’re part of my team”.

Scene Two – Cavilard Centre – Delivery Men – 2:00 AM
Zombie drove the truck up to the gates to the Cavilard Centre.  The gates rattled as they slowly opened, letting Zombie drive the truck through and up the road towards the centre.

The Loading docks were around the side.  As Zombie approached, she observed that the docks were designed like an airlock.  Zombie backed the truck into the docks and the large thick metal doors closed around the rear of the truck, sealing it to prevent any biological contamination.

The rear doors opened and Chang and Tex exited.  Dressed in their hazmat suits, the guards gave them wide berth.

Zombie came out from the front, also dressed in a hazmat suit.

As the team unloaded the ‘toxic’ containers, Chang spoke briefly to one of the guards.

“Why do you have a driver?  You usually use an autopilot.”

“System glitch.  You know how it can be sometimes. Hey, do you have a map of where you want this stuff?”

“Huh?  You guys don’t know where to go? Frag, what’s up with you guys tonight?”

“New guys for this job.”

“Fine, here is a Fuchi-Tablet.  Just follow the instructions and you’ll be fine. ”

As Chang, Tex and Zombie wheeled the barrels into a special airlock lift, Chang could hear one of the guards mutter, “Does that smell like fresh paint to you?”.

Security Office – Jack Drury
Jack watched the delivery through his monitor. He sleepily sipped at a cup of decaf-soykaf and waited for the delivery to be over.  Afterwards he could hit to the bunk and catch a few hours of sleep.

Scene Three – Camera, Lights, Action!!! 2:02 AM
Zero, Valkyrie and Prim drove through the open gates behind the truck.  They cruised up to the front entrance of the building.  Prim and Valkyrie, with Zero tailing behind with a camera, marched up to the front doors and began knocking to be let in.

Two security guards at the front desk look surprised.  They were not expecting anyone else tonight, specially this odd entourage.
The guards walked up to the door and tried to wave away the strangers.  But Prim waved her forged identity card and conveyed through explicit body language that the door should be open... immediately.

The guards hit a switch and the glass doors unlocked.  Prim, Valkyrie and Zero marched in, demanding that they were there to interview some sort of celebrity.  The guards were puzzled until they saw their boss approaching with two more guards. They knew they were in trouble.

“What the Hell is going on here!” Demanded Jack.

Prim approached the stout white-haired military man.  She spun the best lie she could, which Valkyrie supported.  Jack listened, his eyes narrowing.  This ‘Prim’ spun a good tail, but a film crew, here now, in the middle of the night, at the same time as a delivery?  Looking for some celebrity to interview or some such nonsense?  Jack almost wanted to believe… but Jack didn’t get here by being gullible.  He also remembered what happened to the last Security Chief who got lax in his duties.

“Wait here!” Jack barked.  “You men do not let them leave from here.  I’ll be back” Jack marched away, leaving the four guards circling Prim’s team.

Scene Four – Securing the Delivery 2:05 AM
The lift took Tex’s team deep into the bowels of the Cavilard Centre.  Apparently the complex was far larger and deeper underground they had expected.

The lift opened to a short, narrow corridor with flashing yellow lights and a number of vents.  The team wheeled the barrels into the corridor, with the lift closing behind them.  Soon the corridor filled with a fine mist, a screen nearby flashing “Decontamination process underway”.

After a few moments, the vents came online and sucked the chemicals out of the air.  The lights turned green and the far door opened to a metal corridor.  The markings on the wall clearly stated that they were in the Biotech Research division of the complex.  The rooms coming of the corridor were for a number of laboratories.

The team soon wheeled the barrels into one of the labs and through to a storeroom for bio-hazard materials.

With no guards supervising, Zombie ducked under the one camera in the lab and used her knife to disconnect the feed.  If Blood’s info was correct, then the guards wouldn’t immediately suspect why one of the cameras had gone to static.

Tex watched the door while Zombie sat down at a terminal and hacked into the Centre’s matrix.

She soon found herself in virtual equivalent of the laboratory.  Moving quickly, Zombie managed to take control of the Biotech Node.  This gave her control of the data in the node… and the airlocks in this section of the facility.  She set her agent to start downloading as much data as possible, in case there was some pay data which could be on sold later…

Security Office – Jack Drury
A camera crew shows up in the middle of the night at the same time as a delivery of toxic waste.  And now the camera was down in the lab?  The camera was working in the storeroom, but he could only see one of the delivery workers unloading there.  Where were the other two?

“Henry, suit up and take a team down to the labs.  Lock down the delivery drivers until we sort out the mess in the lobby.”

“Yes Sir!”  Henry left the office and headed to the armoury.

Jack got on the radio.  “External patrols.  Stay away from the entrance for now, keep to the shadows.”  Jack didn’t want the hell hounds caught on camera, but he wanted them available in case of trouble.

Sighing, Jack got on the phone and made the call.

“Sir, I have a camera crew here from some network.  They say they’ve been sent here to do a puff piece on us.  Sound like horse-shit to me.  Is this authorised?”

“Huh.  Thought so.”

“I’ll hold them here until a reaction team is sent”

Jack ended the call.  Turning to his 2IC, Jack demanded, “What the fuck is the deal with that toxic waste?  Double check those delivery orders! And get me the name and number of whoever ordered it!”

Turning to another guard, “You there.  What’s wrong with this picture?” Jack held out his empty coffee mug.

Scene Five – Nothing to See Here…
Zombie had taken control of the airlocks… Just in time.  Tex could hear a security card on the other side of the airlock, banging on the door.

“Hey, what’s happening?  Open up in there!”

Tex and Chang tried to bluff, “Hey it’s not us, something’s wrong with the doors.”

Security Office – Jack Drury
“Sir, the airlock is shut down! We can’t get to into the Biotech labs”.

“Frag Henry.  Consider the delivery team hostile”

Jack closed the connection to Henry, and called Alex at the lobby.

“Alex, don’t react sonny.  Consider the news crew in the lobby hostiles.  Arrest them now, but be careful, they may be shadow runners.”

Scene Six – Lobby goes Hot 2:08 AM

“Ma’am, I hope you don’t mind me saying, but you are Brigid Mallorn? The Trid Blogger?  Wow!  This is fraggin’ awesome!  Wait until my kids hear about this!  Can I get a photo with you?”

The guard seemed friendly, so Prim consented to the photo.

The guards chatted quietly with Prim’s team as they awaited orders.

Prim and Valkyrie notice the guards stiffen.

“Ma’am, I’m sorry about this, but you need to lie down on the floor with your hands on your head”

Prim and Valkyrie acted surprised, but the guards started to draw their side arms.

Prim could see what had happened.  Somehow their bluff had failed.  Time for Plan B.

As Prim put her hands in the air and tried to calm the situation, a small compartment opened on the back of her jacket.  A small, chameleon-coated dragonfly drone launched into the air.  The drone was impossible to be seen by the guards.  It hovered lightly above a guard, and on Prim’s command it darted down and stung him in the back of the neck.  An injection of Slab entered his bloodstream, and soon the guard collapsed.

Even as the first guard fell, Prim stepped forward towards the guard that had been nice.  She held out her hand and sweetly told him “put this on”.  The guard took a Slab patch and put it on his face.  The Slab was quickly absorbed through his skin and he collapsed.
As the last two remaining guards drew their weapons, Zero proved faster.  Still holding the camera, he quick-drew his machine pistol and fired at a guard.  The guard fell to the ground, Zero stepped forward and double-tapped the guard in the head.  Blood and brains splattered the clean tiled floor.

Valkyrie leapt forward, her wrist blade extending out with shick.  Alex, the lead guard in the lobby reacted quickly and blocked Valkyrie’s first blow. But her second blow sunk into his stomach and with her superior weight and strength, she quickly subdued the wounded guard.

With Valkyrie holding the guard down, Prim quickly questioned the guard.  “How many are there!” She demanded.  The under-paid guard quickly caved.

“Three outside, sixteen in the building and our captain.”

Prim quickly knocked the guard out with a dose of Slab.

Security Office – Jack Drury
As he watched the events unfold in the lobby, Jack sent the Alert out.  All the guards were already in the armoury getting ready, but the alert extended to the Matrix as well.  Backup was on the way, but now they would hopefully get here faster.

Jack walked out to the guards.

“Men, we are under attack by trained professional.  Most likely corp-less sinless shadowrunner scum.  They will not hesitate to kill, and they have already taken the lives of Alex and his team.

But this is our home!  They have come to our home looking for trouble, and they will find It! Our mission is to hold this facility until Mitsuhama sends their Rapid Response teams.  Help is on the way.

We will use Henry’s team to keep the scum in the Biotech facility.  James will take his team upstairs to the floors above the lobby.  You will pin them down with suppressive fire.  Red, your team will hold the stairs on the ground floor.  Most likely they will run to cover and that’s when you take them out.  Zack, take your team to their truck and secure it.  Understood?”

“Sir, Yes Sir” The men all repeated in unison.

Scene Seven – Hell of a Trip outside to get gear… 2:10 AM
Valkyrie’s and the team’s gear was outside in the cars, but the glass doors were locked.  Valkyrie quickly smashed her way through the glass doors and stepped outside.  Prim covered the lobby while Zero took cover by the side of the glass doors and peered out into the dark Seattle night.

As Valkyrie ran across the car park to the car, two large black dogs sprinted towards her.  Their glowing eyes and fiery breath marked them as Hell Hounds.  As Valkyrie sprinted, a small gun extended from her cybernetic arm.  Taking aim as she sprinted, she shot the first Hell Hound.  The creature crashed to the ground, Valkyrie having shot it through an eye.  Changing targets, her second shot took the other Hell Hound in the shoulder, causing it to stumble on the pavement.

Opening its mouth, a large flame shot out at the Nordic warrior.  Diving and rolling the last few meters, Valkyrie ducked under the flames.  The convertible, the stolen car, caught fire.

Zero watched four Hell Hounds sprint out of the forest around the facility.  It was clear that Valkyrie had only seen two of the beast, with the remaining creatures about to hit her from behind.

The Japanese cyber-ninja fired his machine pistol at the other two monsters.  Two short bursts took one of the creatures, and alerted Valkyrie of her immediate danger.  The gun then jammed.

The wounded, fire-breathing Hell Hound had closed with Valkyrie.  As it leapt at her, she ducked under it and popped her wrist blade.  One clean blow and she was showered with gore from the gutted Hound.

Coming to her feet, she blocked the bite from the remaining monster, his sulphur breath stinging her nostrils as its powerful jaws snapped at her. She stabbed forward, her blade sinking into the powerful muscles of the Hound’s shoulder.  Leaping backwards, the creature eyed the warrior and then howling, it sprinted into the night, leaving a red trail of blood behind.

Valkyrie quickly removed the team’s gear from the car before the fire reached the trunk and their explosive ammo.

Scene 8 – Matrix – Zombie dominates the Matrix
While Zombie downloaded data, Tex carefully loaded her explosive ammo and considered how close the target data centre was.  So close… how hard could it be?

Zombie meanwhile in the Matrix, opened a doorway to the Security Node.  She didn’t have much time.  According to their intel, the data centre was wired to explode and Security had standing orders to trigger it if they thought it might be breached.

She couldn’t take the risk that they would trigger the explosion before they acquired the Silver Angel file.  Zombie, a ghoulish figure in the matrix, hacked the Security Node.  Before the various I.C programs could run, she had taken control of the node.  Around her the programs appeared as military officers.  They saluted her as if she was one of their own.

Zombie redirected the security feed to the heads up displays of her team mates.  Providing they had the right gear, they could access the footage from the cameras around the facility.  She also locked down the various maglocks around the facility.  There weren’t many, but they controlled key chock points.  Finally, she wiped the user accounts for all the security staff.

And then she waited…

Security Office – Jack Drury
“Sir, we can’t get out!”

“What?” Growled Jack at James.  His officer seemed nervous despite the body armour he was wearing.

“The door out of the Security Centre is locked.  Our cards are no longer working.”

“Damn it!” Jack swung back to his computer and attempted to access the security logs… only to find out his account was not recognised!

“There in our system.  They have control of our Matrix facilities”.  Jack rubbed his chin in thought.

“Tell the men to hunker down.  Expect an assault.  If they are here for the Executive System, then they will need to go through us.  We just need to hold them until Mitsuhama’s Rapid Response Team arrives”

“Yes Sir,” James saluted and turned to leave the office to prepare the men for the assault.

“James, blind the cameras.  There watching us.  Do that first.”

Jack started to check his assault rifle…

Scene 9 – Downstairs – Things get sticky… 2:12 am
The airlock at the entrance to the Biotech lab hissed open.  Sgt Henry waved his men back.

An open canister of biohazard material spilled out into the hallway. The green sludge splashed down the corridor and then began to rise into the air.  The toxic goo flew through the air as if alive, chasing the guards.

They had been told to stay away from the biotech lab and now the toxic goo was lose and chasing them.  As one the guards fled.  Two guards headed towards the Cybertech labs, the other two guards headed for an alternative exit.  When they reached the door, they found that their pass cards didn’t unlock the door.

Tex walked out in the hallway.  The two guards at the locked door saw her and raised their assault rifles. Chang followed behind Tex and seeing the danger, summon a bolt of arcane energy.  Gathering the energy in his hands, he threw it down the hallway at one of the guards.  The energy hit hard and the guard crumpled to the ground.

The second guard full auto sprayed the hallway.  Bullets ricocheted of the metal walls, turning the tight corridor into a death trap.  Bullets pierced both Tex’s and Chang’s biohazard suits as they retreated back into the lab for cover. Tex counted to one and stepped back out into the corridor.  With two clean shots, her explosive rounds ended Sgt Henry’s life, his blood staining the locked door behind him.

Scene 10 – Outside – Cleaning up the opposition 2:12 am
Valkyrie strapped her sword to her back and passed a suit case to Zero.  The Sniper signalled to the Nordic cyber-warrior.  With his cybereyes, he could clearly see guards circling them in the woods.  Backlit as they were by the burning car, the runner’s position was not good.  Fortunately, these guards seemed too underequipped, just using heavy handguns.  Zero marked four guards.

Zero turned to Valkyrie and warned her to be ready.  Reaching into his jacket, he found the radio control for the explosives he had laid earlier.  Zero flicked his finger..

*BOOOM*

The explosives set up in the car park went off, taking the cars with them.

Using the distraction, Prim headed into the night, keeping close to the earthen walls of the facility, heading towards to delivery docks.
The guards in the woods scattered, taking cover behind trees.  These intruders were crazy, behind the normal gang trouble they got occasionally.

As they reported in, Jack radioed through to the external patrols “Stay down and shoot anything that moves”.

Zero used the explosion and movement to make his move.  Firing his machine pistol at long range, Zero managed to wing a crouching guard.  Zero kept firing until he was sure the guard was dead.

Valkyrie roared and ran into the woods, drawing her large claymore.  As she ran, she threw a thermal smoke grenade close to Prim.  Best to keep her employer from getting shot.

As Valkyrie ran at a guard, he turned and fled into the dark woods.

Security Office – Jack Drury
Jack could hear everything.  The screaming, the sobbing, the death rattle of one of his men.  The heavy breathing as they ran and ran and ran.  It was the crying that really got to him.  And all he could do was wait for the murderous bastards to come to him while his mean died painful deaths in the night above him. “F#cking Bastards!” Jack yelled as he smashed his coffee mug on his desk.  The mug shattered and a small shard cut his hands.  He was going to kill these fraggers or die trying.

Scene 11 – Outside – Cleaning up the opposition continued 2:12 am
Valkyrie chased the guard and almost caught him.  He was running fast, not fast enough though.  Valkyrie swung her sword and the guard managed to leap over a log just in time, avoiding getting hit.  Valkyrie paused.  Where was she?  She could see the facility some distance away.  As the guard continued to run, she weighed up her options and decided to let him live.

The sword-maiden turned and jogged back to the main facility.  Zero had his sniper rifle out, but was still wearing his fancy suit.  Touching base with the ‘team leader’, Valkyrie indicated she was heading inside to back Tex and Chang up and that Zero should cover Prim.

Scene 12 – Outside by the Loading Docks - Mitsuhama Rapid Response Team One – 2:13 am
Prim made it to the delivery truck.  Now she just needed to get through the loading docks doors, into the lift and down to the Biotech Labs.

Zero hid in the trees near the dock.  Even still wearing the suit, he was difficult to see.  He watched Prim through the sights on his rifle and played a mental game of ‘what-if’.

A large silent helicopter passed overhead.  The helicopter hovered above the delivery truck.  Prim ducked inside the truck to stay out of sight.

Zero watched the helicopter hover over his advisor.  He recognised that they had spotted something.  Not good.  Sighing, Zero raised his sniper rifle up and took aim.

Zero eyed the pilot and took careful aim.  His first shot broke a hole in the bullet proof glass.  His second and third shots finished the pilot.

The helicopter lurched for a second before the co-pilot took control.  The co-pilot started to bring the helo down towards a landing.
Suddenly a fiery bird launched out of nowhere and headed for Zero.

“Che’” Zero swore.  An elemental could see his ‘aura’ or something like it.  This meant that for this creature, Zero stood out like a spotlight.

Zero ran as fast as he could, but the elemental spat out a long stream of fire which lit him up like a flare. Screaming from the pain, the Japanese hero kept going.  At least Prim would be safe…

Now that Zero was lit up and on fire, the two Mitsuhama soldiers strapped in by the sliding door took aim and fired.  But the burning cyberninja was fast, very fast and the bullets flicked around him, but none landed.  Unfortunately, the combat mage in the helicopter summons a quick spell and flicked the arcane bolt at the fleeing hero.  Zero stumbled and crashed to the ground in the shrubbery, knocked out by the mage’s spell… knocked out and still on fire.

Prim could hear Zero screaming through the comlink and the rain of fire from the helicopter was lighting up the night.  Slipping out of the truck, Prim readied her chameleon-coated dragonfly drone and threw it at the helicopter.

The drone buzzed through the door and landed lightly on the pilot’s shoulder.  A quick prick and Slab flowed through the pilot’s juggler and straight to his brain.  Slumping forward on his controls, the helicopter suddenly plummeted straight into the ground.  The copter kicked up dirt as it slammed into the ground flipped onto its side.  Its blades spat rock and then snapped, slicing through the air, one blade just missing Prim.

The fire elemental shot towards the collapsed Zero, its orders still clear.  And then it disappeared, leaving a few floating embers behind… inside the helicopter, the combat mage’s head hanged at an odd angel.  One of his teammates checked him and radioed in that he was dead.

The three remaining Mistuhama soldiers checked their wounds, and their weapons.  Protocol suggested that they would be attacked while they were down.

Suddenly they heard a clear voice, “Eject your Clips”!

Strangely compelled, the remaining soldiers ejected their clips.  They felt a flutter and then the world went strange.  The dragonfly buzzed back to Prim who put it away.  Inside the vehicle, the Mitsuhama-bonded warriors struggled with the effects of warp, an LCD-type drug which disabled the already injured soldiers.

Prim calmly entered the copter and knocked out the guards.  Seeing the burning Zero, she called for help.

Hearing the call deep within the facility, Chang summoned his honourable ancestor spirit.  Instructing the spirit to aid Zero, Chang greeted the arriving Valkyrie.

The honourable spirit arrived and doused the flames on Zero.  Applying ancient remedies, the spirit was able to relieve the worst of the burns.  Still, Zero would need real medical care to recover from these severe burns.

Scene One – Final Battle – 2:15 am
Chang, Valkyrie and Tex gathered outside of the door to the Security Centre.  They had heard through the comlinks about the helicopter.  More response teams would be on their way.  They had very little time remaining to get to the Executive System.  Between them and the Executive System was a security centre filled with at least twelve heavily armed guards.

Opening the door to the security centre hallway, Tex and Valkyrie threw in three flash bang grenades.  As the guards in the hallway ducked down in a prone position, Chang threw a bolt of energy at one of the guards, taking him down. Chang moved into cover just in time as the flash bangs went off.

*BANG**BANG**BANG*

Valkyrie sprinted into the hallway, her eye on the prize, the door at the far end. Tex covered the sprinting Nordic warrior, her explosive rounds bouncing one of the struggling guards into a wall.

Valkyrie leapt and summersaulted over the guards in the hallway and reached the distant far door…

The side doors opened and the remaining guards took aim at the sprinting street sam.  More than a dozen bullets slammed into Valkyrie’s back, pushing her into the door.  Jack saw one of his hated enemies and unleashed a full stream of bullets into her armoured back at close range.  Bleeding badly, Valkyrie slumped to the ground.

Tex fired with her precision aim, her explosive rounds taking down the heavily armoured guards.  Despite her firepower, the guards were resilient, in cover and packing full auto assault rifles.  As Tex took a hit, she ducked back into cover.

“Chang, Valkyrie’s down.  Save her!”

Chang turned to his newly returned Honourable Ancestor.  “Help my friend, save her life.”

The Spirit reappeared in the far end of the hallway, by the downed Valkyrie’s side.  Resting his healing hands on her mostly metallic body, the spirit began channelling chi into Valkyrie.

Standing nearby, Jack fired a long full-auto burst into the back of the crouching spirit.  The creature dissipated, hopefully for good.  But Jack was too late; Valkyrie surged to her feet and made it into the Executive Systems room.  Firing a burst at the far door, keeping Tex and Chang back, Jack followed her into the room.

Valkyrie heard Jack enter just in time, stepping in and knocking his gun to the side.  Bullets smashed delicate servers, sending sparks into the air.

Swinging her sword, Valkyrie swung a horizontal blow… tearing Jack in half!

Jack’s torso fell to the ground as fountain of blood exploded upwards, showering the room in gore.

Outside, Tex and Chang subdued the remaining guards in the Security Centre.  Two surrendered and when one came out of a side room firing, Chang simply flicked his hand in his direction and the last guard slumped unconscious.

Valkyrie hooked the offline Executive System to the Matrix and Zombie entered the system.  Taking the file, Zombie deleted all camera footage and shut down the entire system.

The team quickly gathered some spare weapons and rang to the lift to the loading bay.  Prim was already there with a now awake Zero.
Zero and Prim got into Zero’s car, while the rest of the team piled into the delivery truck.

Scene Two – Escape – 2:20 am
Zombie was jacked into the Delivery Truck.  The gates were closed, but she floored the truck and smashed through them and out onto the road.  Zero and Prim followed closely behind.

Two Mitsuhama-marked Chrysler-Nissan Patrols screamed up the road at the escaping vehicles.  Zombie rammed on of the vehicles off the road and it tumbled down a hill and into a tree.

The second vehicle swung around, skidding on the road, but the experienced driver maintained control.

Taking the first opportunity which presented itself, Zero swung his wheel right and down a side street. The Mistuhama Patrol car continued its pursuit of the truck.

Zombie, knowing that she couldn’t outrun the faster car, and that the longer the chase, the more likely they would attract the attention of the ‘Star, slammed her breaks hard.  The Patrol swung right to avoid and so Zombie swung the truck into the passing vehicle.  Her much larger truck hit the patrol car hard and it rolled off the road and into a light post.

Zombie floored the truck and disappeared into the night.

Security Office – Cpt Masao Maruyama – Later that night
Cpt Masao surveyed the carnage.  This had been a very bloody attack, by a combination of enhanced and magically active terrorists.  At least fourteen dead, one hacked in half.  Explosive rounds, grenades and they somehow took down a helicopter…. Hmmm... drugs most likely.  The matrix experts believed that the Biotech lab, Security Command and the Executive Systems had been compromised.  Tsk... not good, not good at all.  At least Jack Drury had gone down fighting.  His men had been incompetent, but at least they were mostly honourable.  The survivors though, they would also be dealt with.  Their survival indicated a serious breach of contract.

Cpt Masao’s phone buzzed.

“Moshi Moshi!”

“Huh? Yes Sir, I understand.”

“I will be there within the hour”

Scene 3 – The Next Night…
Prim drove the car into the basement of the Space Needle.  Security was tight, very tight, but she managed to manoeuvre her chameleon-coated dragonfly into the building.  She was meeting Eve Donovan tonight to drop the data off.  She didn’t expect to get the bonus for being discrete.  Her team had been far from subtle in their attack.

As Prim was ushered through the doors of this most exclusive of locations, she was surprised to see not only Eve, but also the very famous Damien Knight and Mel Cosi.  Damien Knight was the CEO of Ares Macrotechnology, the biggest corporation in the UCAS and perhaps one of the most powerful men in the world.  Mel Cosi was a rising star, head of Ares Arms in Seattle and acting president of the United Corporate Council, the quasi-ruling body of Seattle.

As Mr Knight and Mel introduced themselves to the somewhat surprised Prim, Eve quietly explained that her cover and bonus reward was an interview with these two very powerful men.  Prim handed the chip over and began to talk with the very charming gentlemen while enjoying the finest foods and the view of the night time Seattle cityscape…  ahhh…. Life was good.

Scene Four – Sometime Later – An Ares Lab somewhere too classified to even exist…

“Well?” Mel asked, somewhat bored.

“Ah, boss?” The egg-head scientist responded, looking somewhat startled to see his boss.

“Give me a rundown of Operation Manchurian?  Do we have our Queen of Diamonds yet?”

“Well, it’s not that simple, but we are far closer.  The so-called ‘dream chipper’ technology was horribly unstable and ultimately killed its victims, but it did create complex personalities, skills sets and so forth.  Personalities thoroughly real for all intents and purposes, believable to even those close to the victim.”

“But…” Mel felt like he was pulling teeth… which would have been far more enjoyable.

“Oh no, no more buts boss.  The Silver Angel program doesn’t really do anything by itself.  But combined with the dream chipper tech?  It acts as a stabiliser, compensating for the power required by the dream chips which lead to them overheating.  It also allows for a more stable structure.  The user will no longer become mentally unstable over time.  It’s... well, it’s all theory at the moment, but the potential…”

Mel smiled at the scientist and waved him to silence.  “And you have the profile I gave you?  How soon can you take the profile and give me the chip?”

“Very soon sir”.

The End… for now.

The ambush was timed to occur the same led lighting the team was attempting to ambush Despair and triggered events which resulted in the deaths of Shadowhawk, Clips and apparently the Professor.

You have got a settled team.. Even I am building my own team..
