Wanted to post this before Halloween, but didn't have time to finish.

Loup-Garou infected character made using Karma Gen (800 Karma)


When Ayska is not running the shadows, she is driving a Taxi in the Barrens. Those who fail to pay, usually end up as dinner.

Having a Ridiculously high Reaction and Initiative, I thought Counterstrike would be awesome for this character.

So tell me if I get anything wrong in this scenario?..  (I used actual dice rolls, Gangers had a 6 dice pool for Clubs)

Ayska is being cornered by 5 gangers..

Combat Starts.

Gangers roll Initiative, they get 9, 11, 10, 7, and  7.  Ayska rolls a 41 for Initiative, she delays her action, waiting for the gangers to come to her.

First Ganger charges. He Rolls (Agility 3 + Clubs 3 + 2 Charge) gets 2 Hits vs (Reaction 12 + Unarmed (Natural Weapons) 8 - 1 Reach, -1 Delayed Action) 6 Hits, 4 Net Hits

Ganger Rolls just Body to resist damage (-2AP Claws tear though his Synthleather Jacket.) , gets 1 Hit, he is down.

Ayska's Initiative is now 34

Second Ganger charges Ayska, He rolls 8 dice, gets no hits, Ayska rolls and gets 5 Hits, Ganger goes down.

Ayska's Initiative is now 27

Third Ganger charges Ayska, he rolls 8 dice, gets 2 Hits, Ayska Gets 6 Hits, Ganger goes down

Ayska's Initiative is now 20.

Forth Ganger charges Ayska, he rolls 8 dice, gets 1 Hit, Ayska Gets 5 Hits, Ganger goes down

Ayska's Initiative is now 13

Fifth Ganger, not at all discouraged by his friends being dismembered in less than three seconds, charges Ayska. he spends Edge and gets 6 Hits. Ayska Spends Edge on Counterattack, she rolls 20 Dice, and gets 10 Hits, Killing the last Ganger.

Ayska's Initiative is now 6.


[spoiler]COUNTERSTRIKE
(UNARMED COMBAT ONLY)
Interrupt Action (–7 Initiative Score)
Counterstrike allows the character to leverage the
opponent’s force into an advantage, allowing the character
to make a quick strike back. In place of the standard
Defense Test, the character makes an Unarmed
Combat + Reaction [Physical] Test against the opponent’s
standard Attack Test. If the defender achieves
more hits than the attacker, the defender successfully
avoided the attacker’s strike while returning and landing
a strike of their own. The defender’s counterstrike attack
has a Damage Value equal to the defending character’s
standard Unarmed DV + net hits. The damage is resisted
by a standard Damage Resistance Test. If the defender
does not achieve more hits, then he must make a Damage
Resistance Test against the damage of the attacker’s
strike as normal. Note that use of this action requires
Martial Art training.[/spoiler]

I don't really see the rigger part of the character. 12 dice make a decent driver but far from the level of a rigger, not to mention all the other stuff missing like drones, EW, RCC…

I doubt that berserk can break the usual +4 limit for attribute so REA would be 11.

Using Counterstrike seems pretty good, there are a few points I'm not sure about with your interpretation:

  • I feel like the delayed action bonus should only apply on the delayed action itself, not interrupt actions taken before.
  • I'm not sure you can use your Natural Weapon for the roll, Counterstrike mention the 'standard Unarmed DV. I imagine it's because Counterstrike isn't just hitting with your hands but with any body parts that happen to be close enough from the enemy chin.
  • There is a specialization for Blocking/Parrying which are Interrupt action as well so it would be fair to require rather a specialization to a Martial Art or to Counterstrike to apply it on that roll

I took Unarmed Combat (Natural Weapons +2), I didn't think there was a martial art  that worked with claws and biting?  ..

That's why Subject says Rigger? (with a question mark.) .. and it's 14 dice with a Ground Vehicle...which is pretty $#%@!ing good.

Reaction cap 11.. you're right.

Probably right about Delayed Action penalty.

Claws come standard on Werewolves 8)

How I imagine Counterstrike is that it doesn't only use the hands, it's likely a combination of punches, kick, elbow, knee, headbutt or whatever you can hit your opponent with depending from where his attacks come from. If you were always striking back with your hands there would be no reason you couldn't counterstrike with a knife or Shock Gloves.

Wildcat does have the Counterstrike technique and it has other cool stuff you can learn later like Clinch, Dim Mak (combined with claws/bite say goodbye to your arm/leg) or the infamous Finishing Move. Renaming it Wildwolf is only a detail.

She is definitely a step up from your average Shadowrunner behind the wheel...maybe not rigger quality..but definitely has the potential with that insanely high Reaction.... and she actually drives better when angry..

If you had razor sharp non-retractable claws, I think it would be really hard not to use them against someone who is attacking you.

Most of the Martial Art Maneuvers are kind of meh to me.. think counterstrike is probably one the the best.

There really isn't much written about Loup-Garou's in the SR books, anyone know where else they are mentioned besides Run Faster..?

Can they eat food other than metahumans?

I guess? There is no mention of any Nausea in Loup Garou section, so they can consume food. They just need a little extra (flesh) to sate hunger.

And yeah, Adrenaline Boost doesn't stack with IR.
