I’m looking for help making a Face who can either be a back up Decker or Technomancer. I don’t mind starting out low (and growing) in the hacking – I plan on using it for smaller stuff (opening doors, getting blueprints to buildings, something to do in combat like ejecting clips, etc.). I’m shooting for Face skills in the 12+- range and whatever is left for the hacking stuff.

I know I want: Leadership, Con, Etiquette, Negotiation. Computer, Hacking, Software, Register, Compile. Perception for main skills. Secondary skills of Disguise, Impersonation, Palming, Sneaking, for social engineering. And whatever other skills I need/can get.

Our table does not have either a Face or a Decker/Techno (and since they are all combat and magic specked then they will take what they can get.)

5th Ed rules with cyberware cost from 4th ed. Avail limit 12 for gear. No 4th ed qualities – only what is available in 5th. I don’t mind taking 1, or more, Ess worth of cyberware even knowing that it will reduce my Res; I know I can raise it back up in game. Even if this means taking Res down to 1 until I raise it up again.

This thread was incredibly useful:

I'm not sure where to go with Priorities/build
Suggestions would be appreciated!

I did see a similar post on skills for a Techno, but he is further along than I am so I started another thread. I have a good grasp on the Face stuff.

This is a really hard (perhaps impossible) task.  Deckers are immensely resource dependent and don't share any traits with a Face aside from secondary Intuition.  It might be feasible to make a Technomancer who is also a back-up Face just because he has a naturally high Charisma, but I don't see him having all the skills you've outlined straight out of chargen.  "Back-up" Deckers are hard to do and back-up Technomancers are impossible.

OK. I understand ...I would be OK with a Face w/ Res that could work up to a Techno.

Best quick priorities build I could come up with.

SKILLS 46/10      CASH-275   ELF-3      ATTR-14   MAGIC-0

BOD-3      AGI-3      REA-2      STR-1
   WIL-3      LOG-5      INT-2      CHA-6
EDG-4      ITV-4+1D
   PL-3      ML-5      SL-7

GROUP-6   INFLUENCE
GROUP-4   STEALTH
SKILL-6      COMPUTER
SKILL-6      CON
SKILL-6      HACKING
SKILL-6      IMPERSONATION
SKILL-6      PALMING
SKILL-6      PERCEPTION
SKILL-6      SOFTWARE
SKILL-4      AUTOMATICS

275K for Cyberdeck & Programs & basic runner gear should set you up fairly well.

Similar to Tarlisar, but with Technomancer.

Skills 46/10 - Attributes 20 - Resonance 3 - Meta Human(3) - Cash (6.000)

KON 2     WIL 5
AGI 2        INT 5
REA 2      LOG 5
STR 1      CHA 6
EDG 2     RES 6

FACE:
Influence 6 (Negotiation, Etiquette, Leadership)
Acting 4 (Con, Impersonation, Performance)

MATRIX:
Hacking 6
Computer 6
Register 6
Compile 4
Electronic Warfare 4
Software 4
Cybercombat 3

OTHER:
Automatics 4
Sneaking 3
Perception 4
Palming 2

Can't talk about Gear or Ware, as I don't understand your Houseruling System, but you wouldn't get much out of 6.000 anyway.

As best of two Worlds as I could come up with.

Thanks guys!

Why automatics and which gun were you thinking? I'm guessing machine pistol? Because an assault rifle isn't very face-ish. And why not Pistols or something else?

Because automatics cover both stealthy and shooty. It is good to have an opportunity to have a smaller gun for an everyday use and a big gun for some action. I prefer pistols though because you can carry your tazer almost everywhere.

Well you didn't have a weapon skill on there at all.  So I tossed in Automatics-4 as a fill in.

Automatics is a nice default IMHO for the non-shooter characters.
It gives you a concealed Machine Pistol for indoors & yet can let you expand to an Intermediate SMG or full on Assault Rifle for when things get nasty.

As for which ones, well, kinda depends on what cyber/gear you have,  I'm a fan of Ares w/ Silencers or Steyr's w/ Gas Vent depending on the situation for indoor work.
Nothing quite like an Ingram for the mid range SMG.
For Assaults I pretty much ignore the Colt & Raiden & go either AK (Customized), FN (Out of the Box), or Alpha (If I need Grenades) as the campaign warrants.
