Hey i just stated playing and want to start a second character. I really want a sword mage. Does anybody have any ideas on how i could make this work? Thanx

Take your standard magician, add Blades 4, toss in a Weapon Focus, stir until mixed.

I would also suggest adding in a sustaining focus and a elemental aura spell on the mage.

It has downsides but can be pretty fun.

I concur. This is the best option for a Sword mage.

Standard magician is too limiting on bladework
Standard PhysAd doesn't have the elemental flare options with melee weapons.

Yep, Mystic Adept is the way to go....

Yep, Mystic Adept is the way to go....

I also concur.  PhysAds give you many more options as a melee fighter.  Focus your spells to augment your melee abilities as well.
