Tarot decks are divination tools. They are divided into the Minor and Major Arcana. Minor Arcana encompasses four suits (Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentacles) with 14 cards each (Ace to 10, and then the Knave, Knight, Queen, and King), and each suit representing a certain element. Swords are associated with Fire, Wands with Earth, Cups with Water, and Pentacles with Air. The Major Arcana is a set of 22 cards with singular figures, such as the High Priestess, the Tower, or Death. Each card in the Minor and Major Arcana has two meanings, one when it is placed right side up, and the other when it is 'inverse', or upside down. A typical reading takes between 3 to 10 cards, depending on the array you use, with each card having a different interpretation of its meaning based on its position in the array.
