My troll character wants to purchase a panther assault cannon availability 20F. I know the check to find it is 20d verses negotiation + chr  + your contact if using a contact. My question is can you use the extended tests rules?

No, you can roll a new test every price-determined interval.  It probably wouldn't be too hard to come up with a system to translate Availability rules to an Extended Test (Intervals could remain the same, Threshold could be something based off of Availability), but that's all in house rules territory.

Thought I read a thread recently that mentioned adding your noteriety to this type of availability check now. I may have imagined it though...

The rules for how street cred and/or notoriety effetcing these type of tests in missions are in the new missions FAQ
