Name: Roundabout (Matt Lucas)
Metatype: Human
Background: Matt's old man was not an honest man. Far from it, the old ork made his living smuggling. He was a pretty decent dad though, tried his best to give Matt a good life after his mum, some fancy elf slumming it, decided she didn't want anything to do with the kid. He did a decent job of it too, even got him into a decent university after pulling a few strings. He wasn't the best when it came to saving his money though, and his retirement fund's been raided enough times to be fairly scant now that the old codger's finally started going senile.

So Matt's moved back in with the old man, to help take care of him. There's bills to pay though and Matt inherited a strong stubborn streak. He won't be selling his soul to some megacorp or syndicate, just to make ends meet. He's been talking to some of his da's old drinking buddies, looking for work that pays. A fancy case, done up right is enough to pass for a decker ('cos like hell is he telling anyone why his degree is in bloody Resonance Theory, hell, let's just not mention the degree, okay). The money ain't great, but it doesn't come with so many strings attached and that suits Matt just fine. His dad did alright by him, so he'll do alright by his da.

Background: Flash Henry hails from Yorkshire - his father is the Earl of Scarborough, as he's fond of telling people. Raised in the privilege of late 21st Century nobility, he received a fine education to prepare him for the duties of the station that would one day be his. His father taught him that a lord solves his disputes with words rather than actions, and it was the only real thing in his fine education that he took to heart. Since that day he's employed his magnetic charisma and stunning good looks to charm, con and seduce all that he could ever want.

His parents cut him off when they found about the Shadowrunning to spare themselves the scandal. He'd taken up running for the thrills, finding his life of idle privilege less and less stimulating as the challenges became less... well, challenging. He's made his own way ever since then, cutting a dash through the Merseysprawl shadows, using his skills to get what he wants - or what his employer wants.

You'd not been up long on this relatively bright and sunny Sunday morning. A pot of earl grey sat stewing on the kitchen side as you perused the news feed, waiting for the soyprocessor to churn some synth-eggs and bacon out for you.
The home hub system chimed as a message came through on your work link, switching the nearside wall's AR paint to a display of its contents.
<<Message from MR.J>>//Morning Flash, got a new client on board and he needs a team putting together for a job up in Edinburgh next week. Thought I'd give you first refusal? I'm heading through Piccadilly this afternoon if you're interested. Meet in the dog and duck down the road about 3.40. You in?//

Henry sat in the little breakfast nook of his apartment, reading the Sunday paper as he smoked his cigarettes. He was just in his robe, the tea steeping before him, the heady combination of bergamot and fresh smoke. This was what a lie-in was all about, and there was nothing like the feel of real paper rather than reading through a commlink, even if you did pay through the nose for the privilege.

Of course, work was slow at the moment, so every day for the last two weeks had technically been a lie-in. But he felt slovenly lounging around on a weekday, he'd felt like he had to put the effort in, pull one's socks up and hit the streets. Naturally the one day he allowed himself to relax, the offer for work came in. One that he couldn't pass up without temporarily kissing goodbye to any further physical editions of the Sunday Times.

<<To MR.J>> // Work is always welcome, old sport. I'll be there with bells on. Shall I get your usual? //

He stubbed out his cigarette - cheap, but he'd always smoked them because the white filters made them look classier - and then scrolled his commlink to the contact group he'd got set up for the rest of the gang.

<<Group Message>> // What ho, chaps? The Horned One has just got on the blower re: a little jaunt up to Edinburgh this week. Can I tell him you're in? Will have more details after the meet this avo. //

Quote from: ooc
I am colour blind, but I'll try and cleave to the notations as best as possible - above is the example I'll use for net / comms chat, speech will be in quote marks.

In a clean but rather cramped room, Roundabout groaned as he rolled out of his bunk. Bloody summer, he never slept well in summer. He glared at the incoming message that had woken him up. He stumbled into his apartment's tiny bathroom as he read Henry's message. Work was always good, particularly when he was still a bit short on the rent for this month.

<<Group Message>>\\I'll not say no to paying work. Where's the meet?//

He fired off a reply as he shrugged on something clean and fished his commlink out of the laundry basket. The old man is still asleep by the sound of it, he thought as he tried to remember where he'd left his 'deck'. It'd look right suspicious if he forgot that particular prop.

gryphon had woke early. this new life was not something he had gotten used to, especially the being poor part and his sleep had suffered. best to keep myself busy he thought. his flat was cramped even with the few things that furnished the room. he had spent the last few hours reading up on the latest magic insights and happenings and was just about to put the kettle on for tea ( the one luxury in his life ) when his comlink whistled. at last he thought as he read the message

<<group message>>\\count me in, just tell me where and when//

as he packed his things he felt that familiar feeling of excitement that he never let turn to nervousness.

Roundabout pinged his clock, then the train timetable, then finally a map. Yeah, he could make it there in time, assuming he left now. He booked a cheap ticket and grabbed his bag. A quick glance at the old man's bedroom door, and a slightly longer look at the tracking software hidden in his commlink, reassured him the old coot'd be fine on his own. He wasn't that far gone, after all.

He just wished he'd a few sprites registered for this.

<Group Message> \\Anyone got any guesses what this is about? I've got several hours on the train, might as well do some research.//

the train journey would be a short one. plenty time to prepare, though he didn't know what for yet. still, increasing his reflexes would give him an edge in case anything unexpected came up.

casts and sustains increase reflexes spell force 4; spellcasting test 12d (111334555556 ) 6 hits
drain resist 11d (1112333455) 3 hits -
1 stun damage

at least he had enough time to rest and recuperate before catching the train.

6d - 2 hits, recovered.

<group message>\\wish I had an inkling, would like to know whether I should bring my conspicuous friend along. Flash, I can give you a boost to help in negotiations, if you'd like?//

hopefully this would be a milk run and the rifle wouldn't be needed. Gryphon knew Flash was one of the best around at getting the best deal for his team but a bit of extra magic to boost his charisma would do no harm.

You weave the mana around you, feeling your reactions sharpen and your senses come alive.
The process is tiring however, your head feels foggy for an hour or two before you head for the station.
Leeds city centre was quiet, no great surprise for a Sunday, especially as the rugby was on up at Headingly.
It'd have been a cracking day to have sat up at the royal oak and had a pint in the beer garden as the results trickled in but work was calling.
The bus dropped you at the station, it's recent renovation had updated the ARO signage and facilities.
It smelled delicious as you passed through the entrance hall, hitting the ticket gates and attempting to get out onto the concourse.
SiN test for me please!

the train journey had been pleasant enough but what gryphon faced now wasn't so. as he approached the gates he wished he'd managed to obtain better fake Id. fingers crossed the checkers weren't looking for anything other than the basics.

(bit confused by the check  ???  rules say 2x device rating against threshold of fake sin?)

The entrance barrier swings open and lets you pass.
You head over the bridge and down to 16B, climbing aboard the filthy, graffiti ridden shit-tip of a train.
The rumbling of its ancient diesel engines vibrates the whole carriage, the inside of which smelled like damp and depression. A few disinterested folk sit at the other seats, playing with stuff on their commlinks as you see their AR gloves manipulating thin air.
The journey passes fairly quietly, you grab a brew from the trolley as you pass over the Pennines, admiring the view over the reservoir as the sun shines over the green and verdant land.
The outskirts of Manchester are soon on you though, grey and depressing as they were.
Before you knew it, you were disembarking in Manchester Piccadilly station, kit bag slung across one shoulder. A glance at your AR hud showed it was 14.15, you had plenty of time to burn before the meet.

___Taejix____

Grabbing your kit together as quickly as you can, you get to the door, gesturing at the AR interface to lock after you leave. A loud groan emanates from Da's room as the door opens, a pang of guilt striking you as you abandoned him, not knowing when you'd return and if you'd return in one piece.
Still, the bills weren't gonna pay themselves.
You stared out the window, seeing the house disappear as the bus pulled off down the road, hoping he'd be alright for a day or two.
It didn't take long to get across town to Waverley station and you were glad to get off the bus. the old lady behind you stank of BO and it was cloying in your nostrils.
You dashed down the Waverley steps and tried to take the ticket barrier at full pelt, knowing you only had a couple of minutes to make the train.

The morning and afternoon pass fairly quickly, you make the most of a nice lazy Sunday, not knowing what the afternoon's meeting would bring.
You shower, eat and smarten yourself up for the meet with the J and head downtown to get parked up.
The centre of Manchester is busy as you'd imagine. The flash of sunshine had the effect of shortening the skirts and removing people's shirts and the central plaza was abuzz with street performers, shoppers and day-trippers in from the rest of the Merseysprawl.
You grab a parking spot at the station's parking, it was more expensive than elsewhere but was usually emptier because of it.
Checking your AR feed for the time, you pop out of the station concourse at 3.10, leaving you a bit of time to kill.
