Sadly they both take 24 damage. The ramming rules for SR4A are messed up where the higher the body of the vehicle you are riding, the more damage you take from a ram or crash. For autofire, both passengers and vehicle have to resist the same damage but the passengers at least get the vehicle armour added to their soak roll.
For our games, I house ruled that the characters only have to resist whatever damage the vehicle didn't soak in a ram or crash. This means if you were on a bike, you are likely going to be hurt badly while if you were riding in the Zugmaschine for example, you would be less likely to be injured since that vehicle has better soak capability. It isn't perfect but it does cut down on the insta-death from crashing in a high body car.
