I can second that notion whole heartedly! My idea of LTL ammo is rock salt scattergun rounds or aiming for extremities...

Rocksalt is a good way to say, "GET THE HELL OFF MY PROPERTY" with the warning shot going to center of mass.

Aiming for extremities is not exactly the easiest thing to do...  Then again, I'm a Canadian that can't own firearms, so what do I know?

Pumping the shotgun and putting a shot into the chest of the first intruder sounds a lot scarier, and will also usually get the authorities around faster than a simple 911 "I have an intruder" call.

With rock salt, there isn't that much of a mess, other than the guy pissing himself and happy that he isn't dead.

Make sure you load your shotgun correctly.  Know your weapon.

As for dual magazines, Smartgun Links will prevent issues like that.

I spent a lot of my informative years on a ranch in northern California where drugged out wackos come around looking to find anything they can sell for the next high.  They come outside the city limits because police response time goes from minutes to hours and sometimes days.  So shooting trespassers became a normal part life.
