Hey All,

Usually I am here to ask questions, because I can be dense, but this is completely different and I must say, tickled the hell out of me. Normally I have a big group, well geared, angry, aggressive, I call them Murder Inc. behind their backs. As with many things, as summer kicks-in people scatter to the four winds, so I asked a few of my remaining players if they wanted to do something and that is how I got my current much smaller group.

Second Missions is to steal a Next Gen Gyroscope from Art College, there is a story there, and instead of doing the foot work and learning the place, trying to squeeze some of the staff, two of the characters - One with extensive security background and the other was an Alumni of the main University. The third character decided to take a evening Painting course.

The part that caught me off guard was the help the decker and Sam (Security Consultant?) have been providing the College. Security has been pretty lax, the school has rarely ever had anything people cared about. It was in a nice enough location that most gangs are dissuaded from trying to claim it and interlopers would meet a tazer from one of the staff. I decided to make the security so bad, the Captain (Head security from several locations) refuses to give the security crew firearms. Along comes my Sam... uh... Security Consultant. I roll for the captain and he falls head over heels for her. She brings a number of skills to the table that he does not have in his A team.

He offers her 60k a year, full benefits, and she can sponsor her children to any of the university programs should she desire. Preference is her children. The Captain has given her a small budget to buy upgrades for a Colt M23, which she did, got her upgraded armour - uniform.

The Decker and Sam are currently working on Limited Credentials, and have to wait a full 30 days - without incident - to gain full access to the system. In a private conversation the Captain said they have an old safe in the basement were they are storing a special object, that the main University is very interested in. The Student does, a genius, left his position in the Physics department to return as a student to the College. He had an epiphany and developed the next gen gyroscope.

My players are getting into it. They are helping the college to build the security grid, improving overlays and stacking detection systems... and they are to steal this.

My wife, the Sam, informed me she liked the Captain and is torn between the run and taking on this job. She would not be the first payer in one of my games that had a full time gig and a secret shadowrun life.

Sorry for the long, but I had to share.

Thank you!

Why not a bit of A and a bit of B?

Does the Johnson know you have embedded yourself in the University?  Just like the Johnson doesn't tell you his history, he shouldn't know your exact plans.

Does the Johnson specifically state for earning the payout that they want the physical Gyroscope itself or does the run allow you to still complete the run if you turn up with blueprints/designs if for some reason (like the awesome 'security' system in place) you were 'unable' to directly obtain the gyro itself?
If the actual prototype is required, could a duplicate be made up, maybe buttering up the Genius to make another prototype-maybe transporting it to a 'safer' back-up location and have a ringer or two step in to extract it without having it come back on yourselves.

So if they play their cards right, the could still turn over details/duplicate to the Johnson, leaving the main Gyro & Genius intact and have a nice regular gig to supplement the shadowside.

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Thanks for posting Sendaz.

The group has not contacted the Johnson yet. So they are not certain what he is willing to do. =-)

Thought I would follow up.

The Ladies setup a meet with the Fixer and the developer of the next gen gyro. They came to an agreement - to build cars - and only cars... and the conversation was full of great rolls. The Designer took the job offer and was able to keep some control of his design. A major point was the reality that eventually, someone is going to get his new toy and use it for less then humanitarian reasons. With that in mind, at least he could try and make some lives better. It was some good role playing, vs the roll playing. Tonnes of conversation over expensive food and good wine. The party even let the guy think on the decision and still have a long talk over real coffee. It was fun.

The next run was a local that has hired the team to do some runs. This team is more functional then my regular Friday group. Strange how that works.

Thanks!
