Title: Deathwishjoe PBP game OOC/IC
Post by: deathwishjoe on <11-01-11/2141:22>
In case your popping in to see what’s up here this is a quick run mission I am doing for a few local friends of mine.  As I am the GM but am also the one with the weird work schedule we are meeting here as it should make it easier logistically to play.

For the future players here’s a few basics since I expect you’re probably new to PBP rpg’s.  Dice rolls will be done using the invisible castle website.  which can be found here.  http://invisiblecastle.com/ (http://invisiblecastle.com/). This website rolls your dice for you and then gives you a URL you can post online to show others what you rolled.  The syntax for dice rolling on Shadowrun games will more often than not be xd6.hits(5)  where x is the number of dice you wish to roll.  Once you roll it will give you a URL you can paste into this forum.

In order to simplify things We are going to ignore a lot of the normal protocols and etiquette used in PBP games such as having the out of character post in a separate forum post from the in character post.  I expect his game will be a horrible introduction to online gaming etiquette so please don’t use this as an example.

In order to help me the DM distinguish between what type of text you are writing we will use the following color code.

Actions
Out of Character text
In character out loud speach
Matrix or subvocal microphone speach
Character thoughts

OOC: P.S. I took the liberty of naming and fleshing out one of your contacts.

Your eating a bowl of Beef flavored textured soy proteins and noodles on your break during your day job when your commlink starts bzzing letting you know you have a message.  However rather then a social call its using the ringer you set up for people trying to get a hold fo you about your other line of work.  The one you do at night.  You answer the call and see the face of your Fixer contact the red headed Irish American Dwarven Bar owner Murray "Sticky Fingers" McConaughey.  "Oi! Aideen.  I have a job for you.  Some bloke wearing a suit contacted me saying he had a job for someone who was could work some vehicle shenanigans for him and I thought of you.  he wants to meet you in this bar in the touristville district called the Rusty Nail.  your supposed ta meet em there at about 8 PM tonight."  Once your shift is over that should give you about 2 hours to get ready and head over to the meet.

Aideen raised her eyebrow and looked up to make sure her boss wasn't listening. Did he give you any particular info?  I'm not going to do anything that's going to get me killed.  That last job you had me do nearly got me caught by the cops.  She said, remembering the time she was sent in to procure a vehicle the cops were watching.

Aideens boss seemed to be under the influence of a BTL for the time being and was out of it as usual.  "Well Lassy He didnt give me any of the particulars.  You know how it works.  Ask him when you meet up with him at the Bar.  An if it is going to be a hot boost like the last job make sure he pays you hazard pay this time.  Besides no one ever said running the shadows was a safe profession Lassy.  Now if'n your interested I could represent you at the barganing table like old times for me usual fee of 15% but I hear pray tell your not the only only runner on the job this time so you may not need my services"

OOC: Waiting for Rachel's character sheet to be emailed to me.

Aideen chuckled and nodded. I think you would love trying to fleece me, Murray.  She said as she looked at her boss in disgust.  I just need a few more runs, before I get get out of this hell hole.  Let that junky kill himself...  She thought with a scowl on her face, her ears laying flat against her head. I'll let you know if I need your services, Murray.  I'll stop by after and we can have a few for old times?

OOC: I was thinking of Murray and her serving in the military together?

OOC: WTF why not.  works for me.

"Sure thing Lassy you've got my number."

Adelaide Willard was working at an Ork Underground Soup Kitchen/Shelter when she got a call on her commlink from an unknown number.  The message was a prerecorded message with a file attachment.  The picture for the sender hadn't been set up and Your commlink created a non descript androgenus human face for the caller.  "Word on the street is that your looking for some work.  Meet me at the Rusty Nail in the Redmond district at 8:00 PM tonight sharp and I'll make it worth your while. I've included the address to this message"
Title: Re: Deathwishjoe PBP game OOC/IC
Post by: Adelaide Willard on <11-02-11/2339:37>
Adelaide blinked away the thousand yard stare the call had given her. She gave the ork before her a stunning smile as she passed him the bowl of soup he'd been waiting, a bit impatiently, for. Dazzled, he walked away with the soup in hand. She looked to her pet cheetah laying against the wall behind her. "We may have work to do, Ash."

Ashitara looked directly into Adelaide's blue-gold eyes with her own dazzlingly green ones. She bobbed her head in acknowledgement.

Adelaide finished her shift in the kitchen and headed home for a quick shower before the meet.

OOC: I assume Aideen takes her van to the meet and Adelaide takes a cab to the meet.  I also need to know what if anything you guys are bringing to the meet.  Its a rough neighborhood but there is a police influence and Probably bouncers in the bar to deal with so nothing too terribly obvious.

As you approach the bar there is a bright AR sign of a rusty Nail being used to mix a drink by an out of style (by a few decades) woman.  While making your way to the entrance you see two troll bouncers toss out one of the local orks who had a few too many in him and probably started something he shouldn't have.
Title: Re: Deathwishjoe PBP game OOC/IC

Aideen looked at the bar through the windshield of her van, eyeing the trolls.  She sighed and reached into the hidden compartment and pulled out her hand cannon, sliding it into the hidden holster at her back.  Somehow the gun should have been impossible to hide, but she managed it.  She walked past the bouncers, eyeing the orc and swishing her tail irritably.  She stepped through the door, looking for the person she was supposed to meet.  She ordered a beer while she looked.

Running late, by her standards anyhow, Adelaide took a cab rather than taking the time she'd need for the bus. She was only fifteen minutes early when she arrived. She paid the cab driver and allowed Ashitara to lead her from the vehicle, beginning her pet's oft assumed role of guide animal. She approached the door, ignoring the AR sign. Just as she was getting close there was a ruckus inside. The trolls ducked into the bar and Adelaide took this opportunity to sneak past them while they had their hands full with a wily ork.

She took her seat at the bar and ordered a whiskey sour. The bartender gave her a quizzical look, but must have had the antiquated drink be requested before, and so turned to fill the order. She nodded and smiled as the bartender handed her the drink. Her eyes widened and her brows raised slightly when she tasted the drink. It was made very well. Perhaps the bartender's experience had come from a regular with a preference for the drink. She looked around the bar idly, wondering who she was here to meet.

Shortly after she was given her drink a fox came to sit next to her and order a beer. The fox seemed to take no notice of her. She took the liberty of giving the fox a once-over while they were taking a look around the bar, beer in hand. "Hey there," Adelaide cast her an inviting, crooked smile. "Looking for someone?"

Aideen took a sip of the beer and grimaced.  this stuff ain't fit to strip paint. She though and twitched her ear at the woman trying to chat her up. perhaps I am, what's it to you?  She asked, tail twitching.

before Aideen makes it into the bar.

OOC: Troll Bouncers perception check  3 perception + 3 intuition + 0 for size of Ares predator + 3 for actively looking for it.  for a total of 9 dice

perception check to notice the gun (9d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3250134/)

OOC:  As the Troll got 2 successes and the opposed test is agility + palming your defaulting on the skill with only one dice.  Unless you wish to use edge you auto fail.  I can retcon the adventure of you want but rightnow I'm assuming that your not using the edge.

The Troll Bouncer looks at Aideen and sees the Ares Predator tucked behind her back.  "Hey you! You cant bringz that in 'ere!  Go leave that in your car."

As the troll says this a Kinght Errant Patrol car slowly drives past the bar.

OOC: Fortunatly for you the Ares Predator is only restricted and not forbidden.  Otherwise the cops would have to get out and arrest you while confiscating the forbidden item.  In this neighborhood they just assume it's not worth there time to see if everyone with a fire arm has a liscence or not.

Once inside the bar after a few seconds of conversation with the other SURGE woman in the bar (what are the odds?) a waitress comes by and asks for your drink order.

OOC: Afer the two of you are done talking back and forth you both know from Trideo (3d TV more or less) and a few past jobs thta It's generally customary to ask for a table or reservation under the name of Mr. Johnson when meeting an employer for the first time since neither of you know what the person looks like.

Adelaide chuckled. Leaning down to Ashitara she nodded her head to indicate she was referring to the fox beside her as she said "She's a feisty one, hm?" As though they had practiced the movement, the two looked over at the fox and tilted their heads at identical angles as they considered her. Adelaide sat upright again, her corset helped to keep her back straight as she did so.

Charisma/Social Interaction Check (Adelaide) = 13d6.hits(5) → [1,5,1,4,2,2,5,1,3,6,4,5,6] = (5) 13d6.hits(5)=5 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3250327/)

Charisma/Social Interaction Check (Ashitara) = 5d6.hits(5) → [4,1,5,3,1] = (1) 5d6.hits(5)=1 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3250337/)

Adelaide listened with a smile as the barmaid asked what the fox would like to drink, seeming to take no notice of the beer she already held. Before the fox could answer the panthress cut in. "Excuse me? I need to meet a Mr. Johnson. There should be a table reserved for him. Could you take me to it?"

OOC: I rolled a charisma check because Adelaide is trying to charm Aideen with a little help from Ashitara. I hope that is correct and that I rolled correctly. Also, do I need to roll something like that to get a response from the barmaid? I would think the question routine for her, so I wouldn't think I'd need to roll, but as GM it is ultimately your call...

Aideen grumbles a bit at having to leave her gun with the bouncer.  Damned troll, probably doesn't even know how to use it.  If he so much as scratches it, I'm going to make him wish for death.  She thought as her tail swishes angrily.  When the waitress comes by she orders her beer and looks at the surge woman.  Eyeing her and trying to get a sense about her.  She then asks the waitress for a reservation under the name of Mr. Johnson, then shoots a glare back at the bouncer.

OOC: So the Influence skill group is made up of 4 skills.
Negotiation - used when trying to negotiate pay or when bargaining for the price of something.  You'll know when to make the roll.
Con - used to convince others when your lying,  You can just lie and make the roll.
Ettiquette - used when you are trying to fit in to certain social situations.  I'll generally let you know when a roll is called for.
Leadership When your trying to use your charismatic nature to inspire others. Let me know when you want to use it and we can go over it then.

The waitress looks startled by your questions.  "You know this isn't the sort of place were we do reservations, but now that you mention it I do remember this suit harrassing Frank over there" She gestures to the Ork Bartender "earlier trying to set one up.  I think thats him over in the corner booth."  She gestures to the corner booth in the back of the bar.  There's a nervious sweating wageslave sitting there in the shadows and it looks like he's waiting for someone.
Title: Re: Deathwishjoe PBP game OOC/IC
Post by: Kenshinjade on <11-04-11/0732:36>
Aideen nodded and looked over to the wageslave and sighed.  This poor fool probably has never done this before.  She looked back at Adelaide and motioned for her to follow.  Come along if you're coming, lets see what he has to say.  She said and sauntered over to the booth, she knew her outfit was flattering to her figure and she used that.  She slid into the booth and looked the man over. Are you our contact?  If you wanted to make reservations, you should have paid a little more for the nicer restaurants.  She said as she wrapped her tail around her lap, and stroked it.  Getting comfortable. This might be interesting.

Adelaide said her thanks to the barmaid prior to following the other female that apparently had not just been looking for someone, but for the same someone as her. "Interesting..." She moved into the seat beside her with grace and arranged her hands delicately on the table. Ashitara sat on the floor beside the table, her green eyes looking over the proceedings from just over the table's edge.

"Hello, 'Mr. Johnson.'" One eyebrow tweaked and she smirked playfully as she placed a gentle emphasis on the alias. "How may we be of assistance to you?"

The Johnson looks at the two of you up and down and when sit at his booth. "Who are you supposed to be.  Your not the ones I'm supposed to hire are you? I TOLD Benny I needed some people who could who could handle some rough business and he sends me two slitches who happen to be SURGE freaks on top of it."  He looks from side to side nerviously and you can see the sweat beading up just above his white colar. In a hushed voice he asks "Are the two of you certain your up to this. Neither of you look like you can handle a security guard. and the item I need you to 'acquire' for me is deffinatly going to be guarded"

Aideen bristled at the comment from this little peon.  "I assure you, We can handle what is needed." She said as her claws scratched at the finish on the table, leaving deep furrows in the polish. "What is the item you need us to procure?" She said, imagining showing this racist what she could do to just his head.

I little startled by your physical display yet still suspicious at your combat abilities the Johnson replies with "I'm sure you understand that until the particulars are handled on price that I am reluctant to reveal anything to compromising however its a small item about a quarter of a meter squared and easily lift able by one or the other of you."

Adelaide was certainly offended by this, but saw no advantage in expressing as much now. Ashitara seemed to pick up on her master's agitation and released a long, low growl, though without baring her teeth. "Hush, Ashitara. He may be an ignorant bigot, but he may well be our employer should his anus relax enough to release his head. I'm sure some fresh air would do his ability to think clearly some good." So much for not expressing her feelings...

Adelaide - Intimidate - 13d6.hits(5)=1 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3252388/)

She returned her gaze to the fool which sat across from her. "I'm confident in my abilities because I know what they are. You, however, do not have that luxury. So, the only recourse I can see for you is to hire us and find out whether we are capable of fulfilling your needs. All you'd stand to lose should we die in the task is our retainer fees." She said all this in a light, matter-of-fact tone, ending her statement with an upward palmed gesture of presentation.

The Johnsons face turns beat red at hearing your comment but he keeps his mouth shut.  "Alright then this is the offer.  $2000 per person with 5% up front.  No more no less."  He leans back and and waits for your reply.

3 negotiation and 3 charisma for the johnson hiring you. (6d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3252398/)

OOC:  Make a convincing arguement as to why you need to get more then roll your social skills with a  -3 dice modifier due to his being such a racist and the two of you not doing much to convince him otherwise.

Aideen looked at her fingers and sighed. "make it 3,000 and 10% up front.  Consider it a penalty for the insult and reparation fee." She said while drumming her fingers on the table, the claws making a clicking sound. "Or perhaps we should rip you a breathing hole, what with your head's current placement." She said while sipping at her beer, and grimacing.  She was going to Murray's after this.  I am going to have a word with Murray, though I hope he has some of his home brew.

Adelaide looked to the fox beside her and gave a small nod, then looked back to Mr. Johnson with a faint smile. "Yes. I think 3000 is a fair price. I'll consider our re-education regarding your foolish prejudice complimentary." She winked at him. "I think the price is especially fair in light of how difficult you yourself proclaimed this task would be."

resist intimidation (5d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3252446/)

"3,000?!?  what is this some sort of extortion racket?"  He leans over the table and in a low voice full of venom "I bet I could go to any one of the trogs in this bar and hire them for a 10th of what I was offering you and they'd be greatful for the oppertunity to earns some Nuyen."  He shakes his head and replies back to Adelaide " ok, Ok, Ok.  2500 with 10% up front.  thats my final offer.  Do we have a deal."  he offers his hand over the table to shake on it.

OOC: Each net success on negotiation gave each of you an extra 100 Nuyen.

Aideen looked to Adelaide and nods, letting Adelaide take his hand.  She was tempted to take his hand and rip it off. "That sounds good to me." She then turned back to the racist pig and glares. "Now what is this job, and we'll need to see images of it."

" Well, I don't have any pictures but you'll know it when you see it.  You see I used to be a mechanical engineer and fuzzy logic designer for a subsidiary of MCT.  I was contracted with them to help them design the next Bust a Move toy in the series to be on the shelves in time for Christmas.  Well rather than paying my fair share they tried to muscle me out of the project even though I did 90% of the software on that blasted thing.  The design company is about to ship the prototype to the local headquarters this coming Friday.  Right now it’s under heavy guard and It’s probably not accessible.  However while its being moved in order to keep a low profile the security will be much less then it normally would.  Should just be a pair of guards protecting the prototype at that point.  Now I think I may have tipped my hand to them prematurely.  A contact of mine in the company told me that  they are apparently sending 3 vehicles to the headquarters along different routes and only one will have the prototype in it.  I need you to find out which of the routes will be used to send the real one and get the item while in transit to t he headquarters.  Then message me once you have the item and drop it off at this location.  its a locker at the local bus station I'll have rented out for the week.  You've got three days to get this done.  Understand?"

Aideen nodded and stood, but leaned over the table giving him an ample view of her cleavage. "Might I suggest you get to know some of the surge victims?  They're quite nice, and can be quite handy." She said and followed Adelaide out. "You wanna go some where the drinks don't taste like they came out of an ogre's armpit?" She asked as she reclaimed her gun from the bouncer, checking to make sure it wasn't scratched.

Adelaide chuckled at her companion's assessment of the bar's drinks while taking in the gun in the fox's hands. "I'd like that very much. That's a bit on the small side, don't you think?" The corners of her lips twitched in poorly concealed amusement. Ashitara, not to be forgotten, rubbed her head into Adelaide's hand. Adelaide scratched behind the ears of her pet idly.

Mr Johnson waves the two of your away while I looks to drown his worry and lack of confidence in your combined abilities.  On your way out of the bar the Bouncer hands over your weap with a grunt.  As you walk to your vehicle or the street just beyond the parking lot for your cab ride You see a bunch of Punk kids all dressed in black and orange around Aideens van leaning against the vehile or there own motor cycles.

OOC:  Aideen can roll seatttle gangs + Intuition to identify the young punks and Adelaide should roll both Underworld politics + intuition -1 and Her criminal yakuza + intuition -1 to find out the identity.

Theres about 6 of them and one of the punks looks over as the two of you approach.  He appears to the be the leader of this group.  "Hey fellas look at what we have here.  Looks like somebody missed the sign saying no pets allowed with out a leash" The other goons laugh at his lame joke and begin approaching the three of you.

seattle gangs + Yakuza + intuition (I didn't minus the 1) 7d6.hits(5)=4 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3252896/)

Aideen stopped dead in her tracks and grumbled under her breath, so only Adelaide could hear. "Oh, great.  Just what we need, a group of dumb punks trying to pick a fight." She perks up her ears at the comment the leader said and smiled. "It looks like some kids need to be spanked by their mommies for being out past curfew." She called back as she planned to make a point with these kids.

OOC: I am not sure how to do it, but I will be activating the van's turret and launching the medium drone.  Intimidation at the point of a mini-gun is a good thing :3

Knowledge (Yakuza) + Intuition - 1 = 4d6.hits(5)=1 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3252976/)

OOC: @ both of you.  The 6 punks happen to be members of the Halloweeners gang.  The holloweeners are a go gang or a motorcycle gang.

@ Aideen  This gang has a rough history but has built up a reputation of coming back from the dead (the gang not the members BTW) .  Despite brushes in with verious street players and being almost wiped out several times over the past several decades it has had one or two members survive and then rebuild the gang.  You expect the leader of this group of punks to more then likly carry some sort of flame based weapon in a sort of literal application of him carrying the torch for his fallen comrades that died during the last big fight this gang had with a rival gang which almost wiped them out.

Every body roll initative

initiative rolls for 5 grunts (7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3255080/)

Leader of the gang (8d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3255082/)

Drunt 5 9

OOC: they're on drugs. Also you take your roll and add the successes to total number of dice you rolled when rolling initiative.  So If my initiative is say 6 and I get 2 successes on my 6d6.hits(5) roll then my initiative is 8.  This means your initiative is actually 17 (11 + 6).  This is the only role in the game that I am aware of that is weird like this.  Just FYI

OOC: Aideen your up.  what would you like to do?  Since you just got your gun back from the bouncer I guess we can assume you were still holding it rather then having it holstered.  Especially considering the general neighborhood.  Actions are broken down in the following manner.  right now you have 1 free action, a complex action and a simple action.  You can also give up your complex action for another simple action so you would have a free action and two simple actions instead of one of each action type.  The lists of things you can do with actions is shown on page 146-148 of the SR4A.  Personally considering the two of you are out numbered I recommend firing your weapon twice and maybe moving to someplace with cover.  There are a bunch of cars around you could find something for this.

OOC: He glitched his reaction roll to avoid the shot.  You got +2 damage.  The Ares predator you have has 5p as a base and each net hit you score increases the damage by 1.  so 5P + 3P + 2 for the critical hit means 10P damage.  This is higher than his body so he’s knocked down.

gang leader dodge (5d5.hits(5)=0) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256247/)

OOC: He resist the damage with the ballistic score on his armor and his body.  each hit reducing the damage by one.  However his armor which is normally 4 is lowered by 1 due to the AP penalty given by your pistol.

leader damage absorption (6d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256251/)

OOC: He takes 5 damage.  As the 5 damage fills up his first row of his damage track he takes -1 to all future actions except damage resistance.  This also lowers his initiative as well.

Leader 10 -1 = 9
Grunt 1 9
Grunt 2 10
Grunt 3 9
Grunt 4 10
Drunt 5 9

Aideens second shot.  The gun has a smart link which grants a +2 bonus for shooting BTW.

5P from your pistol + 1 net hit = 6 damage

OOC: this means he has a total of 8 damage and minus 2 to his actions.  Still alive but VERY hurt.

OOC: the Gangers both go and uss a simple action to quick draw there pistols.  Its a pistol skills + reaction and you need to get 3 successes in order to be able to fire with the same simple action.  If you have a quick draw holster you only need 2 successes.  they dont have them so it doesnt matter.
quick draw attempt for ganger (5d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256288/)

OOC: Failed

quick draw attempt for ganger (5d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256290/)

OOC: Both failed.  One is shooting at each of you using s imple action to fire in the same initiative pass.

Ganger pistiol shots 2 skill + 4 agility + 2 smart link (8d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256298/)

OOC: Aideen roll reaction to dodge.  If you get more then one success then the hit misses otherwise roll Body + ballistic rating on your armor - 1.  By my calculations that should be 10 dice to resist 6 damage.

ganger shooting adelaid (8d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256301/)

OOC: Adelaid roll the reaction + 2 for your adept power and if you want to give up your next action you can add another 2 to your roll for the gymnastic dodge option.  otherwise its just reaction + 2.

OOC: Then its Adelaide's turn and her pet.

OOC: You'd only roll 10 dice actually but it doesnt change the number of hits you make.  if we drop off the last dice rolled it drops the total number of successes to 5 anyways.  Also I need you to roll reaction as well.  add + 4 dice to the ammount you roll BTW for good cover.

OOC: When you attack you roll unarmed + Agility.  If you charge you get a +2 bonus to that and you also have +2 for yourself due to an adept ability.  your pet gets 8 dice as a base and you get 10 dice as a base to hit.  +2 for charging and you do the math.  Melee attacks as opposed to shooting a gun is a complex action rather then a simple action so only one attack a peice

While I was writing you posted.  Looks like those are all for your animal.  since only one attack an initiative pass well just ignore the second.  I'll post in a second.

Aideen dodges behind the vehicle with bullets whizzing around her head.  Despite her heart trying to burst from her chest from all the adrenalin going through her she is otherwise unscathed.

OOC: Unarmed 2 + Reaction 4 roll for ganger
ganger defense against pet attack (6d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256420/)

OOC: Total damage 5p plus net successes of 3 means 8 damage. damage resistence is body + impact armor (as opposed to ballistic armor for guns).

damage resistence for ganger (5d5.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256426/)

OOC: he takes 6 damage.

Ashitara mauled the gangers face and ripped off an ear missing his throat but causing significant damage and knocking him down.

OOC:
Leader 10 -2 = 8
Grunt 1 9
Grunt 2 10
Grunt 3 9
Grunt 4 10 - 2 = 8
Grunt 5 9
Damage Leader: -8 and Grunt 4: -6. both are prone and have partial cover

3 DIFFERENT GANGERS TRYING TO WUICK DRAW (5d6.hits(5)=3, 5d6.hits(5)=1, 5d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256440/)

OOC: one succeeds and gets two shots.  so a total of 4 shots.  two for each of you.

shots from gangers. First 2 are for Aideen and the last two will be for Adelaide (8d6.hits(5)=1, 8d6.hits(5)=2, 8d6.hits(5)=4, 8d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256449/)

OOC:  Oofta.  well lets see how well she is at dodging bullets.  Aideen roll rea + cover of +4.  For Adelaide roll REA + 2 for adept ability + Athletics and well be nice and give you partial cover for an additional +2.  Both of you get -1 die for the first roll and -2 dice for the next roll as dodging each attack becomes more and more difficult.

Then last but not least the downed ganger leader tries to get up with a simple action. this is a body + will power (2) test.  so he needs 2 successes.  However he also takes -2 dice for his wound modifier,

Ganger leader tries to get up (4d6.hits(5)=0) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256463/)

OOC:  Failed second simple action

ganger leader tires again to get up (4d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3256465/)

The ganger leader tries to will his body to move so he can get up but his body just will not respond.  The best he can do is roll over to his side before the pain paralyzes.

OOC: Those with 2 initiative passes can now act.  All of the gangers being on stimulants get another inititive pass and Adelaide gets one for her Bioware synaptic boosters, her pet goes because cats are vicious predators and Aideen gets to go again due to wired reflexes one.  Aideen goes first,  then one of the ganegers, then aideen and her pet and then the rest of the gangers.

OOC: the van will have 2 dice to shoot since your pilot programis one and your targetting autosoft is 1 as well.  It will however act on its initiative and get some bonuses for being point blank range.  its initiative is below which totals out at a 6.  You have a complex action or two simple actions left though since designating a target was a free action.  If you fire from cover though you take a -1 tot he roll

Adelaide's first dodge attempt: Reaction + Combat Sense + Athletics + Partial Cover - 1 = 8d6.hits(5)=2 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257443/)

Adelaide's second dodge attempt: Reaction + Combat Sense + Athletics + Partial Cover - 2 = 7d6.hits(5)=1 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257445/)

Adelaide does her best to dodge the bullets, then runs to attack one of the few gangers still standing. She leaps to make a downward slash, wanting to rake down across his face and neck.

OOC: Oh...  Thats not good.  this might hurt.  I forgot you hadnt resisted the damage yet.

First one gets 2 net successes taking the damage from 5 to 7.  fortunatly you have a ballistic rating of 10 -1 from the AP of the shot making its effective rating equal to 9.  As the damage from the gun is no more than the effective armor rating you take only stun damage rather then physical like the lightly armored gangers have been taking.  This suggest knarly bruises from the gun shots.  While this can lead to your eventual death they have to do quite a bit more damage to do so. I will roll your damage resistence roll for you to speed things up.  This is body + effective armor rating.

damaged resistence for Adelaide (12d6.hits(5)=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257755/)

OOC: and surprisingly the first shot does no damage! Yay.  The next shot had 4 net successes making the total damage 9P.  Damage still qualifies as stun damage as the damage is equal to your armor rating.

second damage resistence roll for adelaide (12d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257757/)

OOC: and you take 6 stun damage from the last hit.  6 damage is enough to knock you down and it takes a simple action to stand up plus a body plus will power roll with 2 successes required.  Due to having the wind knocked out of you your at -2 for all actions.  Fortunately stun damage heals in hours not days.

get back up roll for adelaide (4d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257764/)

OOC: and you hop back up ready to attack unfortunatly you are unable to make a melee attack this round as you already made a simple action and cant also make a complex action this round.  You do however get another simple action.  Normally I would recommend making an attribute boost roll. it takes a simple action to do and you roll your effective magic rating of 4 + your ranks of attribute boost which is another 4.  each hit will increase your raction by one up to no more than a total of 9 for twice the number of combat turns per hit you rolled.  At the end of this time you might take more stun damage but most combats are over by then.  However this combat probably wont last much longer unless the two of you feel like chasing these guys down after they run away.
Melee defense for ganger (6d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3257785/)

And the ganger dodges!

Drek That girls cat just tried to bite my knob off! complains the ganger who was just attacked by Ashitara

Holy Frag me! I think they kill Jay-Ray Lets get out of here before we get fumigated
Says the leader lying next to the dead Ganger.

The ones still standing help those alive to run as fast as they can to there bikes and drive off.

Aideen pokes her head out and watches them leave, setting the van to stand down.  She moved over to Adelaide's side and gave her a look. "You know, a gun at your side will help to avoid that." She said and looked over at the large cat and sighed. "let's get out of here before the sec comes in.  I don't feel like spending the night in a tank." She said and motioned to the van. "I'll give you a lift." She said, knowing Murray could help out with Adelaide's damage.  She herself had shown up on his doorstep, near death a few times.

Ashitara walks over to her owner, crooning her concern. "I'll be alright sweetheart. My armor held," Adelaide said softly to her pet. Her ear twitched in Aideen's direction as she made the comment about a gun. "Ah, but that's what I have Ashitara for." Adelaide winked at her fellow SURGE. Secretly she was considering the matter, but she didn't much care for the idea of the weapon in her hands. "I'd certainly appreciate the ride. Thank you." She and her cheetah walked to the passenger side of Aideen's van.

Aideen drove the group to Murray's bar.  Aside from her apartment, Murray's was the second safest place she knew to hide out.  She parked the van outside his bar, and armed the security programs.  She wasn't going to have another fiasco like at the meeting.  She was going to surf the net to see if anyone noticed the dead ganger. She motioned Adelaide to follow her in. "This place is safe, and the food is great." She said, loud enough for Murray to hear as she moved to her booth in the back corner. "Hey,Murray, can we talk?" She asked him and also ordered some of his house brew.  While she waited she started poking through the net for any information on the company the Johnson worked for.

It was work. Not good work, thought the white haired irishman as he took a deep draw on one of his last remaining cigarette, but it was work. He scratched at the platinum stubble on his cheek as the autocab  hummed through evening traffic. Useful, autocabs. He mused. If you spoof well enough, and trade them in once in a while, no one is the wiser if it goes missing for a while. And nobody asks why you've got so much luggage. Not much for bathrooms though, thought the man as he exhaled smoke out of his nose.

It was a start. 2500 nuyen could get you places, especially when you were broke. Rock bottom is usually the name of the game when you ghost with no notice. And two weeks had depleted his emergency stash. When the drek went down the pipeline there wasn't much time to grab more than he could carry. But he was lucky, he thought as he nudged the autocab, waking it from it's trafficnet slog "Oy, Ya' can put me down o'er there." He said nodding to a street corner a block from the bar. The cab gave a warm hum and slowed to a gentle stop. "Don' go to far now, I won't be long." Said the man as he stepped out, patting the side of the vehicle, and slipping a tazer into his worn old long jacket pocket. "Off with yer'."

Flicking away a few AR windows and what remained of his cigarette as he reached the bar, he tipped a nod to the bouncers as he passed by. "Gentlemen." Catching the eye of Benny the bartender, the man sat at the bar and waited for him to finish with his other customers.

Time to work out the old kinks.

"Personally," Said a voice dryly as it's owner pushed open the door to the back room, "I'll be bettin' on the favorable meself-..." He started as he saw the two women in the room and let the door shut slowly behind him, cutting off the deafening chatter in the bar with a sharp "Click"

Next to the door stood an old man, deep lines webbed the corners of his eyes and his brow,  the short hair on his face and head a shock of white. A long brown coat was draped over his left arm. His right arm was obviously high quality chrome, and ended clutching a large pint, the head bobbing precariously. He wore a deep Red buttonup and dark pants ending in worn leather boots. Real leather, not giving off the opalescent shine of the synthetic kind.

Though he looked slightly frumpy at first glance, a second look gave the impression that he could handle himself. He was unnaturally pale and thin as a rod, but there was a straightness to his back and a grace to bearing that gave the impression he wasn't one to be trifled with. He tilted his head down to look over the thickly framed glasses, appraising the two women, his pupils an unnerving shade of crimson.

"Blimey." He said quietly

At the sound of the new voice, Aideen whirled around and drew her gun.  Leveling it at the new comer and growled lowly. "didn't anyone teach you to knock?" She looked the man over and sneered. "That pig doesn't like having women do a job for him, so he hires an old man?" She was about to go have another word with this Johnson, but she slid her gun back into her holster and turned back to the table.  She had made a promise to Murray to not shoot anyone while in his bar, but she was close to breaking that promise now.

"Ah." Said the man, a sincere smile splitting his face as the woman pointed a handcannon at his head, "Judged you by your looks did he?" He mused, leaning forward slightly and fixing the vixen with a cool gaze, "How very 'petty" of him." The innuendo was blatantly clear, "You should know better than to judge a trid by it's icon." Beyond the dramatics, he knew she was bluffing. No runner worth her soy was going to blast a stranger for no fraggin reason, in a friends safehouse, surrounded by civvies especially if that stranger was hired by the same Johnson. You don't loose that kind of rep, and no one works with a Ronin. But still, that was a harry of a gun in her hand, so he decided not to push the issue, making a mental note to keep an eye on her.

The man stepped forward gently setting down his pint with a heavy 'tack' on the nearby table and draping his coat over a folding chair and sitting down near his new compatriots and crossing his legs and meeting Adelaide and Aideens' eyes, lingering on the big cat in Adelaide's lap. "You may call me Tom." he said warmly, as if he hadn't just been bodily threatened, and extended his left knobbly left hand, in favor of his cold metallic right one. The two could tell automatically that he was very professional, at least for now, and despite the scruff on his face, he was also quite handsome.

Waving a lazy hand above her head, which was still resting in the crook of her other arm, Adelaide advised, "Let's find what skills he has to offer. It's not like we have much choice about working with him." She wasn't meaning to be rude, merely stating a fact, but she was more asleep than awake at this point, so her internal editor had been put on break.

Ashitara looked over at this new person. She slunk low over to him, sniffed his boots before standing on her back legs and bracing herself with her front legs on his chest. She looked this man directly in the eyes unblinkingly. After a long moment she gave him a feline smile and a scratchy lick on the cheek. Having found this person acceptable she returned to her master's side.

Adelaide decided this man may be worth seeing for herself if he'd passed Ashitara's inspection. She lifted her head, shaking back her waist length platinum hair, to look at him through half lidded eyes of blue ringed gold. She ran a black furred hand over the fur on her cheek, causing some of the black rings of her fur to shine at a different angle from the rest of her fur. She took in his wiry, but well built, frame and muscles. She nodded. "Interesting." Having satisfied her curiosity enough for now she laid her head back amidst her arms.

Aideen looked Tom over and nodded. "Mine name is Aideen.  What have you been told?" She asked Tom while she went back to poking at the toy manufacturer's site.  Grumbling under her breath at the firewalls and other annoyances.

Tom slowly stuck a hand out as the big cat approached him, sniffing around his boots. He froze in surprise when Ashitara stood on her hind legs and pushed him back in his chair with her large paws. He resisted the urge to blink or swallow as she stared him down, and couldn't help but to detect more than an animal's intelligence behind the large pools of gold. Just as he did, she gave him a rough lick on his face. He looked to her owner, making heavy eye contact as she appraised him as well. 'what an extraordinary couple.' He thought inwardly. ". . . And what might your names be?" He asked quietly, his hand raised to his chin.

"So far," He said, turning to the Kitsune as he rubbed the cheek that was newly embalmed in cat saliva, "I know that we're on a bag job, nothin' else more particular." He shifted his weight in his chair, reaching to grab his beer with his Cyberarm and taking a long swill. "I'm a Decker," He chuckled at the word, it didn't really even remotely describe the kind of things he really did in the matrix, "Ar. . . Hacker that is. I'll provide support as needed." He smiled nodding at Aideen, "Feel free to let me know how I might be of service."

Adelaide reluctantly brought her head up, deciding she'd be unlikely to get much sleep for a bit. Running her hands down her face, then through her hair she said, with a poorly stifled yawn, "My name is Adelaide." She looked with a smile to her dear pet and friend. "Her name is Ashitara." Returning her gaze to the man seated across the faux wood table her face became serious despite the faint, inviting smile on her well-formed lips. "Please correct me if I'm wrong, Mr. Johnson filled you in on the mission?" She punctuated the question with a cocked eyebrow.

Tom watched Adelaide with a respectful interest. The pantheress demanded his full attention, and he was only too happy to oblige. "Mr. Johnson contacted me through our friend at the bar," He said simply. He gave a slight shrug as he continued, "He dinnae' include the details." He leaned back in his chair, folding his legs and leaving his empty mug on the table next to him. "Care to fill me in, 'Addy?'" He asked smiling,  leaving the new nickname hanging in the air to test her reaction.

Aideen looked up at Tom and smiled at the nick name he had given Adelaide. What a sly old fox... She thought as she was starting to like him. "From what we were given, the employer wants us to intercept the new prototype toy that is going to be transported in the next few days." She said while readying a link to send to Tom. "The problem is they are pulling a shell game on us, three transports one toy.  I am attempting to hack into their network to see what I can find out about the rout and the transport carrying our target.  Care to join me?" She asked as she opened a private network.  With two they might be able to sneak into the corp's network with out setting off alarms.

Adelaide chuckled; a move that caused her eyes to crinkle slightly at the corners. The tentative nickname he was ascribing to her amused her. She listened while Aideen explained the mission and nodded in approval of her succinctness. "You're quite pithy. I like that," she tells Aideen, with a slight tilt of her head, looking kindly thoughtful. Returning her attention to Tom she gave him a smile that sparkled in her eyes. "And, I prefer 'Laidey,' if you're wanting to shorten my name. I'm no good at navigating the matrix, so if you could help Aideen with that I'd greatly appreciate it." With that last statement she gave a slight bow of her head before looking him in the eyes again.

The two computer savy runners get comfortable and then meet up just outside the local MCT node.  fromt he outside it appears as a large building with waterfalls and small gardens dotting its multi-layered geometric architechture.  Hovering in front of and above the digital building what appears to be a large hologram of a woman in a business suit.  She welcomes the two of you and starts going on about some sort of new product MCT had just released.  The node allows free access by anyone who wishes to enter.

OOC:  We will assume that since both of you have matrix security procedures that you understand that this is a public node available to anyone who wishes to enter and get more info about the company.  it will probably have several more secure nodes connected to this node that will have more security and possibly the information you are seeking. Even though the security on this node is relatively low you realise that if you log into this node with a public account that the node will keep track of all your activities that you take to get into the tougher nodes later on. It is highly recommended that yopu create illigitamate accounts when logging into this node.

There are two ways of doing this.  you can probe the target or do a quick and dirty brute force hack.  The probing of the target can take several hours but it is much more likley that you will gain entry undetected.  This is an extended test between the two of you that will be hacking + exploit + 2 for hot simm if you want against the nodes system + firewall + the type of account you want.  each time you roll it takes an hour of your time until you give up or you reach the total required to get access.  Once you get the total the computer gets to make a roll to see if it notices you sneaking in of analyze + firewall and it needs to have enough successes to equal your stealth program to notice you.

there are three levels of accounts.  standard, security and admin.  standard is +O to the total, securty is +3 to the total and admin is +6 to the total.  The differences between the levels essentially changes the skills you use and how often your actions are likley to draw the attention of the node.

Quick and dirty hacking or on the fly is hacking is very similar in that you roll hacking + exploit +2 for hot simm, if thats how your doing it, against the targets firewall + the type of account you want. You can do this once per initiative pass and each of you should be able to get 3 initative passes every 3 or 6 seconds I can't remember which but you get the idea. Each time you roll the computer gets an anaylize + firewall roll extended test against yoru stealth and the previous successes stack with the current successes until it notices you.

Let me know which way you want to work.  Since I suspect with threading Nuadu will have the highest stealth I recommend he be the primary hacker on this.  Normally Nuadu would want to thread up both exploit and stealth and let a sprite sustain it for him however you dont have any of them registered and it would take you a few hours to do so.  although you are welcome to RP it to get more time to do so.  threading is software (electronics group) + resonance.  it takes no actions to do so and you can discard as many successes as you want.  after you roll you need to roll threading.

Aideen when you are assisting Nuadu or vice versa each of your successes gives him an extra dice to his dice pool.

"Laidey then," Tom said cheerily, turning to listen to Aideen's brief. "Aye," He nodded an affirmative before pulling a long red box from the inside of his jacket. Discarding his chair and sitting crosslegged on the floor against the wall, he placed the red box over his crossed legs and opened it. Several spindly medical devices emerged and a readout appeared in his AR. "Never be to careful eh?" He chuckled, winking at Adelaide as he connected himself to the medkit. "We might be while Laidy," Said Tom as he stretched his neck, "Open a channel if you need something." Tom closed his eyes, taking a deep inhalation before his body went limp, as if sleeping.

A figure made of white vapor appeared next to Aideen's toon. It's body was slightly transparent and seemed to fade before becoming solid again. As it opened it's eyes and mouth, light spilled out, coloring the coloring the ground blue before it faded to a bright glow, wisps of smoke falling from it's lips as it let go of a heavy breath. It turned to it's companion sharply, "How much time do we have?" it asked, it's voice a distant rumble, an echo, as if three people spoke at once.

Ashitara purred in ascent and laid at the panthress's feet, facing the door. Adelaide smiled softly before laying her head back atop her folded arms to rest.

"Perfect" Said the specter conspiratorially, the power in it's voice rattling Aideen's teeth. Its eyes flared white, bleaching the ground of color as Nuadu concentrated, tugging power from just beneath the fabric of the matrix, reaching into the threads of resonance flowing just beyond his vision. He grasped one gently and gave a small tug.
Threading Stealth 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271098/)
I'm going to thread stealth and sustain it, taking the -2 penalty on the hacking checks to get admin. With Aideen's help and taking our time, it won't be a problem. I didn't like this first threading check, I wanted at least 3 hits, maybe four. Nuadu lets the power fade (using none of the successes) and tries again.
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271174/)
and again
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271175/)
and once more
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271177/)
Finally getting what he wants, he now resists fading, keeping the three hits and raising his stealth to 8
Resist Fading (3). willpower 5+Resonance 5 (10d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271178/)
the damage would've been 3P, because the final threaded rating was 8, above his resonance of 5, but Nuadu is awesome and resists it easily.

The persona lifted its head, vapor emerging from it's mouth and nose. The area around them soon became covered in a thick fog as Nuadu's stealth program intensified, shielding himself and his companion from preying eyes. It's eyes beggining to dim back to their luminescent blue, the icon turned back to Aideen with what looked like a smile. "Shall we?" It said, flying toward the building and beginning to slowly pour through the cracks.

Beginning the probe, I'll roll my hacking 3 + exploit 5 + 2 for hot sim -2 for sustaining stealth + whatever threading exploit gives me + 6 (all of aideen's hits to assist me:

More than enough, resisting fading of 3P
Resist fading 3P (10d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3271191/)

At the end of the second hour Naudu breaks in with admin access to the first node.

OOC: You can make 2 more healing rolls at this point Adelaide

You then need to let Aideen in by making her an account.  With Admin access this is a computer + edit 2 test with ether +0, +3 or +6 to the test total for the type of account. Each roll takes one complex action so it happens very quickly.  I chose not to roll to see if you are detected as they had no chance really to notice you.  the initial node only had 4 dice to notice you.  The other ones may be different though *evil grin*

The inside of the node looks like an incredibly spacious Lobby done in polished granite with large water fountains and waterfalls and office plants place throughout the set up.  Inside there are several agents who offer to assist the newcomers and there are groups of other users around the inside of the node having verious conversations.  Once inside you notice this node is connected with 3 other nodes.  This is represented by three large doorways leading out of the large foyer.  To the left of the entrance the door is labeled Manufacturing.  Directly ahead of you against the far wall the door is labeled office/adminstative and to the right is a massive door labeled IT/security.

Ashitara starts getting bored. She is curious about these two new people, so she decides to explore them a little. She starts with Aideen, nosing along the woman's waist to the gun at her back. Ashitara's nose bumps the cold metal. She snuffs in disapproval of the uncomfortable device. She makes her way up the fox's body. She tests the boning of the corset with her teeth. She approved of its sturdiness and moved on. The cheetah next encounters the hole in the fox's top. She sniffs tentatively at the opening, getting a feel for the thing. She notices the line separating the two soft things.

"Hiding thing?" With this thought she promptly begins nosing at dividing line, attempting to go deeper between the soft things. She doesn't have much luck with that as the soft things keep rolling toward her probing nose as she pushes. So, she takes a paw and gently pulls on one soft thing, pushing the other away with her nose as she searches the cavity for anything that may be hidden there. Finding nothing she pulls her head out from between the soft things and starts sniffing along Aideen's neck and under her hair. Nothing more caught her interest so she returned to a seated position on the floor.

"Good smell, but nasty cold thing..." Ashitara tilted her head this way and that as she mulled over her findings and decided she would need more time to figure this one out. She turned to the man. She'd already decided he was good, but she didn't get to study him as much as she wanted to earlier either...

With blackish glow, the ghost produced a pen from it's suit pocket, simultaneously acquiring a small blank badge from a the desk drawer, and clumsily stabbing himself with the pin used to affix it to clothing. He quickly wrote a new name on the tag: "Rebecca Vulp" and flicked it into the air, where it vanished, reappearing in Aideen's inbox with a message attached, "The password is Foxxylady. See you inside 'Ms. vulp'."

The Ghost excused himself from the reception area, and casually walked toward the security door, taking a seat in one of the plush armchairs, settling in to wait for his companion.

OOC: Most access logs are automatically taken care of by your stealth program.  any time you use computer rather then hacking due to being an admin it is saved in the security logs however such as when you make an account.

the badges tower has a floor plan of the company building with a bunch of dots for employees and a listing of which doorsare opened and who opened each of them.    Trideo Security feeds has all of the on site cameras on LCD screens around a tower of wires and move around showing you the feeds you wish to see at any given time.  The  confidential software/information back-ups at first appears to be a standard database file structure interfact built into the tower.

OOC: However I need both of you to make a matrix perception check.  Roll your current (no threading) analyze program + computer +2 for hot simm and technos get +2 to there dice roll for being technos.  remember the negatives for maintaining the threading.

Aideen as Nuadu Approaches the confidential software/information back-ups you notice something come up on yoru analyze program.  It appears as though a data bomb has been attached to it along with a stealth program to hide its presence.  You might want to let him know before he sets it off.

OOC: both of you (assuming Naudu is warned) roll matrix security procedures + logic streight dice as its a knowledge check so distractions from threading and hot simm bonuses dont apply.

Aideen looks over the file and slowly turns to Nuadu. "Thant's not good.  It has a Data bomb.  Can you defuse it?"

Ashitara padded slowly over to Tom, sniffing along the ground as she went over to where he sat. She paused a moment as she neared his boots. She wasn't used to this smell, but she very much liked it. She licked the side of it. "Tastes good. Strong?" She nosed her way up his pant leg to the top of the boot. There she gingerly bit the tip of the boot's tongue, yanking slightly to test it's durability. "Strong." She purred lightly in approval.

"Many strange things this one." She looked Tom over thoughtfully. She circled around to the man's left side to explore the glimmering arm she'd seen before. She touched her nose to it. She pulled her head back quickly with a groan. She ran her wrist down the bridge of her nose. "Less cold cold thing." She paced around him, never taking her eyes off the metal prosthetic. She was trying to get a read on its purpose. "Weapon?" Her ear twitched as though flicking the idea away. " No. Like claws."

She went back to the exposed bit of arm. She bit his thumb, not hard, but she needed to know more about this strange thing. She tested it a moment between her back teeth. "Odd sound..." She moved her way up his wrist and forearm as she continued to test the limb with her teeth. The cloth of his shirt kept shifting. She placed her paws on the crimson fabric to hold it steady. "Hollow?" She shook her head. "Not hollow..." She huffed as she tried to find an apt description. "Full hollow?" She nodded. "Full hollow."

Nuadu doesn't know how to defuse data bombs himself, and if he did, he would be crazy. So instead, he'll call a friend.:
Compiling crack sprite rating 5 (8d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3275706/)
Shweet. Now that's opposed by the sprite's rating:
crack sprite rating 5 Resistance check (5d6.hits(5)=0) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3275708/)
Pbbhaha, the sprite actually critically glitched on its resistance roll, so on top of five tasks, something else happens, I guess that's up to you Joe :D. Since the sprite didn't score any successes, I don't even have to resist fading.
A low echoing grumble issued from the spirit as it noticed the data bomb Aideen Pointed out. It was a minuscule tripwire lining the door to the information backups room, and Nuadu surely would've tripped it had he not been warned. "Perhaps. . ." The ghost hummed quietly in response to Aideen's query. "But I'll need to call a friend." It said, wisps of code suddenly spilling from it's mouth and eyes in a bright flare. In an instant, the lines of code merged together, connecting into a larger whole, and soon a man appeared.

He was tall and lanky, dressed in a blue pinstriped suit, his faced covered in a balaclava. "Gentlemen?" Said the sprite as he withdrew a cigarette from a small case and lit it.

The ghost seemed pleased. "I want you to defuse that bomb." It commanded pointing at the doorway with it's only arm. The spirit gave a half laugh, cutting itself off and looking confused for a moment as the clipped sound reverberated through the room. Nuadu had felt a tickle as Ashitara's whiskers skimmed along the nanoreceptors on his alphaware. His meatbody gave an involuntary chuckle. "Phantom limb is acting up again..." Thought Nuadu as his avatar looked down at the empty space below it's right shoulder.
When the time comes for the spy to sap the bomb he'll roll defuse 5 + Hacking 5, and likely die horribly, you didn't mention what rating the bomb was, Aideen would know I think.

OOC: it is a rating 5 data bomb.  Aideen realizes that she recognizes the security protocols for this and it appears to be a honey pot.  This is where the node designers will guard something that is suppoed to appear to be highly valueable and booby trap it.  If indeed it is a honey pot that would suggest the database they are trying to access has no real value and is just a shell.

Aideen sighs as she notices the type of bomb and shakes her head. "Leave it alone, there's nothing in here but the bomb.  We need to keep looking, Maybe we can find the transport company they are planning on using." She said and looked at the other two nodes.  She was willing to bet that the data they sought was in a sub node in one of the others.

OOC: Will her admin access get her in there, or will she have to have Tom make her another one?

OOC: Normally no your log in here wouldnt work on other nodes.  However since I would expect the security here would need to be able to act on any of the other nodes we will assume they have the ability to alter there account shere to give themselves access to the other nodes as well.  It will take an computer + edit (2) test to use the utiliies here to change your account to work on the other nodes.

Ooo cool, I thought I'd have to hit 10 successes to beat a data bomb five. Regardless, Nuadu wouldn't have wasted a task to defuse the bomb if he knew it was a honey pot. Instead, he'll use his access to modify Aideen and his own accounts to have global access to the slaved nodes. He'll take his time, doing it personally instead of using the sprite.

The spirit nodded. Waving away the spy as he moved toward the bomb, "Leave it.". He held his spectral hand to his mouth for a moment where it glowed, and he withdrew a long feather. Blowing smoke around the feather on his open palm, it congealed into a 6 foot tall owl with half moon spectacles. "Find me purchase logs for any private security or transportation firms. Include any information on the new bust a move toy line." The ghost commanded forcefully. The Massive owl spread its considerable wingspan and flew away, off to retrieve the information.

OOC: sorry for the lack of posts recently.  Holiday season and all.  I wont be posting as often since my work load got kicked up a notch with all the holiday sales my company has.  However we should eb able to get this scene moving forward.

As the sprite wanders off in search of whatever it can find on those subjects and alert goes off and red lights flash and you hear a loud klaxon warning every one on the node that there are intruders.  The ICE reports to the securtiy spider that the Honey pots data bomb has been defused.  and they begin looking for you.

Matrix initiatives. (11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3281877/)

OOC: there initiative for this matrix fight is 16 and 13.

OOC: fair enough, I apologize but its rather hard to read the white text in the spoiler tags since it jumps up and down while you try to select it.  Or at least it does for me.  They have dump spoiler tags here.  There are no other slaved nodes to this nexus but I'll assume you found admin tools they have for editing user accounts for the several other nods connected to the primary node before here.

The large owl comes back and reports.  "I have searched all of this node and the public access nodes on the matrix however I could not find the information you requested.  perhaps it is on one of the other secure nodes in this cluster that I do not have access to?"
I totally agree. I was wondering why we are using white, it's nearly impossible to read on my monitors.
I suppose I forgot to write an admin account for the sprite. I'll do that now for all the nodes that this security node will allow me to:
edit+computer to write admin account for data sprite 4d6.hits(5)=2, 4d6.hits(5)=2, 4d6.hits(5)=3, 4d6.hits(5)=2, 4d6.hits(5)=0, 4d6.hits(5)=2 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3288102/)
That should take care of it. once he's done, he'll spend the sprites last task to search everything it now has access to.
10d6.hits(5)=1, 10d6.hits(5)=5, 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=5, 10d6.hits(5)=2, 10d6.hits(5)=6, 10d6.hits(5)=5, 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=3 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3288104/)
After he returns with my data, he will disappear.
The spirit emitted an echoing growl. Flicking his fingers to produce the access codes needed for the sprite to further venture into some of the more secure nodes on the network. "Expand your search to include any shipments to the headquarters of MCT." He ordered, sending the massive owl off again. Turning to Aideen, the spirit continued, "We had better check the other nodes connected to the public one, this one seems to be a dead end."

Logging out of the security and IT node The spirit reappeared in it's one armed suit and tie in the public lobby before walking patiently to the 'manufacturing' door. And sliding his admin access card through the security terminal.
