I’m working on an aspected mage with about 50% of her body cybered up.

I’ve gotten all the magic stuff worked out.
Where I’m stuck is the cyberware.

I’ve got notepads covered in lists and math and my brain is breaking lol.

She’ll definitely have 1 natural arm,
But the rest of her body is up for conversion.
I’m planning to spend 3 essence on ware.

I’m not sure if I want her left side(arm and leg) and a cyberskull cybered up(or maybe sweet eyes and a skilljack)
Or both legs with hydraulic jacks and 1 arm.
I’ve even considered 1 arm and torso.

I know I want to armor all the cyber but the stat increases aren’t important at creation.  I can beef up or replace parts later.

Please help lol

How would you build a chrome caster?

Well, from a game effectiveness standpoint, buying a cyberarm, cybereyes, and wired reflexes 1 gives a decent return for 3 Essence loss (assuming you have Alphaware).  However, it sounds like you want to show more chrome than that.  I’d go with a cyberarm, two cyberlegs, cybereyes, and reaction enhancers (level 2).  Make sure to take the Burnout’s Way from Street Grimoire at character creation...it costs 15 Karma, but lets you treat all cyberware as Alphaware for purposes of Essence cost.

I was going to go alphaware all the way.

Her basic story is, rookie docwagon healing shaman.
Extraction gone bad, grenade, lost a lot of body, blind and deaf.
They asked her if she wanted to be rebuilt(mind meld), and rather than live a totally broken existence she begrudgingly accepts a rebuild.
Since she was just a rookie the company offered her an alphaware obvious limbs rebuild as her severance package.
Wired reflexes would be cool but not the kind of thing the company would pay for before booting her out into the sprawl to fend for herself.
I figured they’d give her better than basic but nothing special.

When she woke from her surgery the spirits had turned their backs on her.
She’s an aspected shaman, sorcery only.
She’ll be an expert at counterspell but only a minimally skilled healer.  She can heal but could easily hurt herself to save another.
She has a mentor spirit and honors the old ways but her days of summoning the spirits for help are over.

I’m unfamiliar with the Way of the burnout, what book is that?

The Burnout’s Way is from Street Grimoire, the first magic supplement book for SR5.

Corps aren’t usually that kind with people that are no longer useful to them.  One alternative would be that the character’s supervisor ordered the cyberware installed, then got canned for wasting valuable company resources on a crippled mage.  The company then booted the character to remove any remaining evidence of the ‘mistake’.  You could even go so far as to say the character survived an attack from a collection team trying to get back the cyberware, and the SIN was somehow burned in the process.

I’m not sure I like the burnout thing.
I was just going to pay for the alphaware.
However,
I do like your idea of the kind manager losing his job for wrecking her magic to save her life.  Feels very much like a megacorp move.
He’d make a really great contact.

I’m just having a beast of a time configuring her rebuild.

I love the thematics of the left side+Cyberskull
But the idea of both legs with hydraulic jacks just sounds like fun.

I took the limited corporate sin(?)quality, the 15 point one.  So can’t burn it.

Honestly I dislike the corporate sin qualities. They're hard to balance as a gm and as a player.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!
