Hi,

With a PC doing a new character and getting a pair of cybereyes (first time since I used 5th ed), I took a look at the rule in the core rulebook and got a bit confused regarding the essence cost. Let's take low-light vision as an exemple, and cybereyes - rating two:

itemEssenceCapacity
Cybereyes Rating 20.38
Low-light vision0.1[2]

Ok, here is where I am confused: Does the character installing those two mods loses 0,4 essence points, or only 0,3 and uses 2 points of capacity ? Or is there simply no way to install "low light vision" without installing cybereyes ?

Most cybereye modifications are also offered as retinal
modifications to the natural eye. Vision enhancements
either take up Capacity in cybereyes or Essence
in natural eyes, not both.

So If you have the rating 2 cybereye it can take on additions up to it's 8 capacity, so you could install low light into them, taking up 2 out of it's 8 capacity without any added essence costs, so the overall cost in ess would just be the original 0.3 ess.

But if you just go for  installing low light into your natural eye the cost essence of 0.1 essence would apply.
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Great, it was actually my understanding, but I could not find, in the book (first print), something confirming this....

Thanks !

0.3 essence.  But if that is the only mod he/she/it wants, they could just by low light as a modification to their natural eyes, for 0.1 essence.   Cyber eyes basically let you save on essence, at the cost of some extra nuyen (for the basic eye system) if you want multiple mods (and you get image link for free, and I think also a camera?)
