Character creation and critique / Re: SR5: Optimized Decker Help
« Last post by Fatespinner on Today at 01:34:17 »
This thread is really great and I learned much about hackers from it. But why is always "Hacking (Hosts)" included and not files? Files are more often the goal of a run and also use the host values.

Rules and such / [SR5] Hacking Rules Question
« Last post by Fatespinner on Today at 01:31:27 »
Hi all,

I have a two questions about hacking.

First: Let's assume that I am on-site at a host location. I use a direct connection to get access to the host by hacking a slaved device with direct access. So now I want to control some doors and cameras which are slaved to the host. Do I roll against host+firewall or against the device ratings?

Second: Now I want to access a file on that server. Do I have to roll against the file with hacking on the fly to get marks on the file or would I roll against the host? The defense roll would always be host+firewall, correct? The difference for the hacker would be which hacking spec to get at char gen. Hacking a host should not be such a big issue if you have a direct connection, but hacking a file is always difficult. So why do most builds include "Hacking (hosts)"? Or did I understand something wrong?

Edit: Third question: Would I use control device or spoof command to open doors and to disable traps and guns? To control a gun I would use control device. But for simply disabling? Would a mark on the host (which I gained through hacking a directly connected device) be sufficient for spoof command?

Character creation and critique / [SR5e] Action Hacker
« Last post by Fatespinner on <03-26-23/1420:13> »
Hi all,

I have tried to create a hacker that is good at hacking, but also in action scenes. The goal was to have a character that can be fun in combat (with guns and hacking) nd action scenes (driving and running), but also in the leg work phase and for serving the hacker role against hosts (rating 8-9).

I would like to know what you think and if there are areas where I can improve the characater to better fit the role. I haven't set the knowledge skills (i haven't decided on the background yet) yet and some karma and nuyen is still available.

Looking for Games / Re: Anarchy anyone?
« Last post by WarriorPoet1274 on <03-21-23/2126:01> »
Hey Chummers,

We're lookin for players in the Los Angeles area for an ongoing tabletop Shadowrun Sixth World campaign. The GM has many SR editions worth of experience and brings the dynamically magical and futuristic world of Shadowrun to life with gritty and real cyberpunk-style storylines and by developing the player characters as well bringing the NPCs in the world to life.

Here's a link to a sort of information sheet or game pitch document he's made for the game
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lkpITMiFKD...iew?usp=sharing.

Take a look at it and if you're interested send the GM an email here davidaltman1@gmail.com and he'll fill you in on the rest.

PDF, first printing, Order of St Sylvester, pp. 113-114

Issue: Both Sylvesterines (113) and Sylvestrine (114) are used. Sylvestrine is by far the more common and was used in their first appearance in Choose Your Enemies Carefully, ch. 32
Correction: Replace "Sylvesterine" with "Sylvestrine."

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to drop by for one last push and invite you to check out Subversion, our game of community and rebellion in the cyberpunk fantasy city of Neo Babylon.

Subversion isn't Shadowrun, and isn't trying to replace Shadowrun. The gameplay, rules, lore, and basic premise of the game is very different. But you all know myself and my team at Fragging Unicorns all love Shadowrun, so we aren't trying to compete.

What we are trying to do is tell different stories and try out different rules - and create for the sake of creating. You can check out the most recent rules build on the kickstarter page.

So I'd love it if y'all would stop by and take a look at the Kickstarter campaign, check out what people are saying about Subversion on the web, and if it looks awesome to you, please support us!

If you back before the end of the campaign, you'll get 2 free adventure PDFs (more if we unlock those stretch goals).

Here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fraggingunicorns/subversion?ref=zcrx9s

Thanks,
Opti
