Title: Newbie friendly pre-gens 5th Edition Missions ready
Post by: Hobbes on <07-08-18/1322:37>
5th Edition Pre Gen characters incorporating all source books up to Street Lethal.  Missions Legal for seasons 5-8 and season 9+ as of FAQ 1.0.

The first group of Links are a 3 Page sheet.  Page 1&2 are the character sheet, fits on a single two-sided page.  Page 3 is a combo Character Tent and Quick Reference combat sheet.  Just fold it in half.

The second group of links are the same thing but without the third page Quick Reference/Character tent. Or its on a second Link if you want to print it off.

Keeping the OP as simple as possible.  Stream of conscious rambling to follow.

If you spot any errors, let me know.

Street Lethal isn’t missions legal quite yet, if you want to use these before that happens you’ll have to make a call on a couple of odds and ends.

Metatype Mix.  2 Trolls, 3 Orcs, 3 Dwarfs, 3 Elfs, 4 Humans.

Archetype Mix.  2 Deckers, 1 Technomancer, 2 Mages, 2 Adepts, 3 Faces (the Edgelord is basically a Face), 1 Rigger, 3 Samurai, 1 Infiltrator.

I did try to mix in a few “non-optimal” Metatype / Archetype  combos.  Troll Face, Ork Decker, Gnome Samurai, and the Decker Tank just to demonstrate some sixth world diversity.  I think they turned out well.

Design goals for each build.  15+ Dice in what they do.  3 or more Edge.  As newbie friendly as good Shadowrun characters can be.  Combat as a Secondary if it isn’t the Primary.  All of them have some kind of Matrix Defense strategy, even if it’s as simple as just being Wireless off except for a burner commlink.  Can pass the “Are you a Shadowrunner?” tests.  Can do a pull up.  Can get through a routine traffic stop without rolling for initiative.  Can handle a hellhound in a dark alley.  Can get over a chain link fence.  Fake SIN, Licences, one set of “polite” armor and concealable weapons, transportation.

The Technomancer fails almost all of these of course, because, Technomancer.  But for the most part the rest of the builds met those goals.

I had lofty goals of including mechanical notes and advancement suggestions on each of these, but time and Single Page limit were less interested in what I wanted.  Some sheets have them, others don’t.  The ones that don’t are simply no better than whatever pre-gens are already floating around.

Dice pools include modifiers from qualities, ‘ware and such in most cases.  Trustworthy, Catlike, Reflex Recorders, Muscle Toner, Reaction Enhancers, ect ect are added in to the dice pools, stat lines, and the Quick Reference card when appropriate.  If it’s a more conditional modifier like Wireless, Authoritative Tone, First Impression, and such it’s noted nearby.

The four “older” character sheets will be updated someday.  The Technomancer will hopefully be updated when Kill Code drops.

If you want to tweak these in some way for your own table feel free.  Use a Pen.  Or GIMP.  Possibly Foxit PDF or similar.  These are a fair amount of work to tweak, so I’ll likely only re-visit when you nice folks find errors that Chummer and I missed.

If you are having trouble opening the PDFs download Foxit PDF Reader and open them in that.  I don’t use Adobe for my own totally irrational reasons, occasionally Foxit and Adobe don’t play nice.

If there are mechanical niches that need filling still, I may add on to these.  I also welcome anyone else to contribute their own creations.

Any chance we can get Herolab versions of these? Those are always great because they include the dice pools.

Those should have the dice pools already calculated, unless I'm missed something.  Feel free to point out anything I've missed.  And I don't use Herolab, so 'fraid not, sorry.

I think are really great a massive improvement over the old version.
Also I like the table card version you have there. Hero lab add so much superfluous crap to the sheets.

Been waiting for these since they popped out with Neo-Tokyo FAQ.  Thanks man. I'll work on getting them into Hero Lab if people want to go that route.
I sure want these. Since I am short on time for Missions in my current timeslot (mondays 7:30-10:30), I've been playing custom Open Events instead, with all sixteen Mission-legal sample characters placed down. Having some variety in the characters would be real nice.

Thanks Hobbes!

Two things:

1) Could you list the priority choices for the characters? Might help newer players understand how the characters were built.

2) On the Elf Gunslinger, Misty, I don't believe any of the vision enhancements on the contacts will work with Hawk Eye unfortunately.  The way that Quality is worded seems to eliminate the entire table of vision enhancements. :( :(

I'll put together a list of Priority choices here in the thread, getting them onto the character sheets is actually more work than you might think.  As these are really intended for tossing out to new players at a game the Priority Choices were really not essential info.

Gunslinger's Contacts are Flare Comp and Image Link which should work just fine with Hawk Eye.  Flare Comp doesn't add any dice or additional visual ability and Image Link is necessary for AR, and again doesn't add any dice or really any visual ability.

In the thread is what I was thinking for the Priorities.  I can imagine it being a PITA to get those added to the character sheets.

Priorities and Karma spend, probably.  I made a couple versions of several of these and backing into which Chummer file matches up to the finished product involved some guess work.  If something doesn't line up, I'll go looking again.

Love the troll adept reason to play: You value fashion and violence equally.  Gave me a good chuckle. :D

I fail to understand how a Priority D Metatype can be an Ork.

Apart from that, great work! =)

Wasn't paying attention to what was being pasted in the post.  It looks like I pasted the same Priority selection to several characters.

Copy/Paste is hard.  Will correct the post, thank you.

Great work Hobbes - these are awesome!

Question about the Elf Shaman: when I plugged this one into Chummer, it said I'd spent 28 skill points out of 22, even after the 2 Magical Skills starting at 5.  Am I missing something?

Well well well, gargaMONK is back after a mere 16-month absence. Welcome back.

Looks like a good catch. I thought that the Elf Shaman might have bought Influence 2 with 15 karma, but the positive qualities offset the negative qualities with enough left over for the karma spent on Strength, Logic, and nuyen. Maybe it was originally Skills C and Metatype D, before Hobbes decided to prioritize Edge 3+, as was his stated intention.

I'm gonna host open events again in a bit over a month, so I'd better convert these into HeroLab soon. =) Here's hoping I got all the materials available.

Thanks Tecumseh. I've lurked in the shadows from time to time. These are just really cool and I had to chime in  8)

I'm currently recreating the Infiltrator in Hero Lab and am running into a karma problem. I got 25 base, -25 for Edge 3, -4 for Metatype, +22-14=+8 for Qualities, -10 for skills which is 6 karma short. And Essence-wise I'm hitting -0.355 Essence.
