Yep, it'll be active in our house before I get home from work tomorrow morning. My roomie beat me to the pre-order, so unless the extra goodies he got are amazingly can't-live-without, I'll just wait to get my own copy when the price comes down in a bit.

I beat Rage (Didn't take long), and had a massive bad taste about the time the Deckers trailer came out, and I kinda had to start figuring out budget as soon as it was over...

Damnit, ID, how the hell did you screw up something like Rage?  And how the hell did a game that's 3 DVDs in size be so damned short with such a crappy ending???  And not even any true multiplayer?

OK, I got it, and it's got that old Saints Row 2 feeling with lots of upgrades and improvements.  Downside, controls are...  Weird.  Have to get used to them.

Also, it feels like the streets are covered in ice for some reason.  Now, I wouldn't have a problem with driving, but most folks are Canucks...

Yeah... I just finished Saints Row 2 last week and the driving controls are bass ackwards on The Third. But I'm loving the hell out of it. Especially the Professor Genki game show. :)

I'm still tooling around with Pierce and his ideas on what to do.  And I'm reminded again why he didn't get any respect.

I'm also kicking myself for renting and not buying Saints Row 2 now.  I bought Saints Row through X-Box Marketplace as a DL.

Damn but I love the world we're living in now.  ;D

And then my realistic side and cynicism kicks in and reminds me of the world we're living in now.  And always have been, truth be told.

You can play as a fucking blow up doll. Or a Toilet.

Or Naked Jesus Christ, wielding a Dildobat.
The horrifying thing is, I know someone who's done all three of those things. In one streamed session.

For me, this is what the most recent Shadowrun on PC & XBOX should have been.

Seriously, the game feels like what running in Horizon-controlled Los Angeles must be like. It's got all the options I'd want, plus it's funny...the humor makes the game freaking fantastic. Dump in a few extra Shadowrun elements (fantasy stuff, magic, some of the races...though Brutes make a pretty good substitute for Trolls) and it is Shadowrun: The Video Game.

And very, very serious games of chess.

No, seriously, they have $20K riding on the game!

Must play
Tech dreams of organic toys
And I'm runnin' out on the edge
Soft screams of the rockerboys
Echoing through my head

You start off robbing a bank dressed up as Johnny Gat.  WITH Johnny Gat.

The sanity slipped from that point on.

I downloaded the character generator, and basically made an Ancient, only for the Saints.  High cheekbones, purple eyes (cyberoptics, of course), elongated and pointed the tips of his ears, the "loose ponytail" hairstyle (in deep purple), went for a mix of strong/fast for his build, purple t-shirt, black leather biker jacket, plain old blue jeans, bright purple sneakers..."if this were all green instead of purple, he'd be an Ancient," was the whole of my character concept.

Because everything I saw for the game just struck me, time and again, as "this is a go-ganger campaign in Shadowrun's media-obsessed LA sprawl."

Best quotes from the intro bank robbery:

"Please autograph and then surrender your weapons!"

"Put... the vault... down!"

I've certainly enjoyed it but it seamed the story was shorter than the last. Also I dislike some the the changes. Overall IMO it's a good game but I like 2 better.

It was shorter, but I liked the multiple choice options throughout the game.  The inability to change controls was very, very telling.  I used one of the alternate control forms in Saints Row 1 and 2, and every time I went to swap weapons I ended up throwing a grenade.
